My uhaul broke down halfway into my 400 mile trip probably because it was not maintained correctly.
The Manager at this location Mr. Yousef is professionalism personified. He plays it bt the book no matter who you are but in a very friendly and professional manner. He deserves a raise. I will be going back there soon. Thanks.
The service rep wasn't friendly or very helpful but was knowledgeable and efficient.
I had to rent a truck to move my daughter's "stuff from a storage warehouse to her dorm room. I actually changed the pick up time the night before from 9 AM to 8 AM and my truck was ready on time . It took under 10 minutes to pick up the truck and I was on my way. When I dropped the truck off, I had trouble parking and someone was there to assist me. I was able to check out in under 10 minutes --again overall a good experience! I would use this location again.
Service representative at the location was freindly, professional, helpful, and knew what he was doing. Took me no time to get a truck and without a reservation.

This was the location I went after the first location (26 K st NE, DC) messed up my reservation. I reserved for that location but they said it's in California. I have no idea how they made that reservation. I waited like an hour just so that I will get that response. And they told me they couldn't do anything for me. So I went to the other location on 5th street. I called before i got there. And when i got there the customer service Representative is not friendly at all. I have worked for U-haul myself before and this was my first time using the service as a customer and it was totally not a good experience.
Very disappointing experience. The facility is not well accessible, it was difficult to park and the staff was not helpful.

The provision of the van I needed was efficient. The resulting price far exceeded the original offer of $19.00+. I don't complain about the service or counter help at all. Just the surprising price. Following instructions, I replaced the gas that I seemed to have used. I even remained inside a 4 hour "window" which was not explained earlier on. So, the final price Add-ons became a sort of spoiler.
They were awesome. Fast, simple easy, and assistive. I've you've this location twice. they are good.
More space to park the truck when you initially get to the location.
Nasir , the manager, a young lady, who, unfortunately just returned to school, and Anthony are great customer service employees. They are willing to help you and have a smile on their face, every time I come. As a college student, that makes a difference. To improve, find out what they do and duplicate them and it , at other locations. Thanks for the opportunity to share.

I have to give major props to this location. They really helped me out in a time of need and were all around friendly, helpful, and inviting. I am so thankful for all their help with both storing my things and then when I picked them up! They're great folks! Please let them know that they really helped at least one person going through a rough move.
Urban neighborhood. I understand.
But the sign telling me "Leave the truck ____" was ripped off so I could not read where to leave it. Plus it was down a long alleyway (If it was W street) with nobody around, and no easy place to park it.
So so, but might use it again, just call ahead to get instruction.
But, how hard can it be to make sure a sign is in place?
Dont make the counter staff also get the trucks. It leaves way too much down time at the counter and causes ridiculous backup of the line.

When I called to schedule an appointment I was put on hold for five minutes then the call was disconnected. It was very frustrating for me because I was calling from work and expected the call to very quick. Since the call was disconnected I just went online and booked my appointment that way.
The horn on the truck did not function.

Amazing customer service! Got the wrong size van, came back to pick up another one. Osman found us a 10' foot truck and got us switched over in less than 5 minutes! Very efficient, friendly staff. I would highly recommend this location to anyone who's moving in the DC area!

I reserved a truck from July 31st at 3pm to August 1 at 3pm. I was called on the morning of July 31st and told that I was late for my 8am pick up. I was then told (over the phone) that because I was planning on dropping off at 3pm (per my original reservation) my reservation would be cancelled. I begged for them not to cancel it and they basically hung up on me. I rushed over to the UHaul location while frantically looking for another company to rent with. I was able to secure a different truck for the second day, but still needed the original UHaul even if I had to return it by 8am. When I got there I was once again told my reservation had been cancelled. I asked to speak with a manager. Turns out the manager was who I spoke with originally. He was rude and ignored me. The person "helping" me then told me he would give me the truck, but that I would be screwing over someone else coming in later *this was only after having to literally beg). Long story short, I will NEVER rent a UHaul again. Going through one of the most stressful situations (moving) only to have the company you are relying on screw you over is awful. I saw similar reviews online and I will be sure to join them. I will also make sure to tell my tale of woe to anyone that will listen. Given your relative stranglehold on the moving truck market I can only imagine that my rants will do very little to hurt your bottom line, but I certainly hope it does.
The staff was friendly and I was helped right away. Checking in online saved time and I was in and out with the truck in under 10 min. I will definitely use this location for my next move.

Create a system whereby people with reservations are warned beforehand if trucks from a previous user will be late and not ready to rent on time.
Not familiar with the DC area; guy at drop off made it very pleasant; super friendly; quick drop off and I was on my way.
I confirmed a reservation for fri - sat evening. When I arrived was told to return the van by 8am the following day. At that time I noted a text changes the terms of our agreement from 24 hours to 14. Somehow the staff diffused my anxiety I left knowing it was better not to move on a Friday night. Still not sure what happened, I usually rent from that location so maybe it was the familiarity of it all.
The customer service was excellent and friendly. They actually met me at my truck, took the key from me and subsequently parked it. I asked the attendant "What do I do next?" He said, "You'll get an email receipt" Easiest thing I've ever done. Thank you.
have more people on hand so customers do not wait an hour to pick up their rental.
You should send someone from your corporate staff to observe how inefficient and slow this location is. I have rented from many U-Haul locations, and never experienced the delays. The staff was friendly, but perhaps the location is understaffed and is in need of implementing a more expedited process for picking up or returning a rental truck.

Esha, the sales rep, was very helpful. She was polite and friendly and assisted me in a very professional manner. I like that she took the time to explain the contract. Check-out and return was very simple and hassle free. Good job!

Lost the key to the lock on the storage, was told if we cut it off they would call the police and the charge is breaking and entering .. my own property. Ridiculous.

This was a horrible uhaul experience. I made a reservation online for a van and for a specific pickup location. Not only was I told last minute that I needed to pick up my van from a different location when I went to pickup the van I was given a 10 foot truck and I had to pay extra. When I tried to return the truck because it was too big I was given a hard time and had to argue with the salesperson to get some of my money back. I will not be using uhaul again.
There's nothing to improve upon. Osman and his staff, are the best that I've come across in my delaing with U-Haul. The reservation process was qiuck and easy. I arrived at opening-7:00 am and the staff walked into an early morning rush. Checkout was fast, and easy.
the truck was given to me with incorrect mileage, it was off by 30 miles. I also noticed an employee making collection calls and proceeding to dial away as she told a line of customers to wait. She should do that when no customers are anxiously waiting to be attended

Horrible experience on my move from Maryland to Florida. In North Carolina the air conditioning stopped working. It was around midday and the weather was 95 degrees. Not only was the air conditioning not working but the fan also blew hot air into the truck.
Wish the loading docs were larger or had more but it is DC.

I do not understand how the mileage was calculated. I did return the car to hear that I went over 2 miles! However I did not do any detour form NY pick up and DC location + return (via Google route to UHaul return in DC!). I am charged .88$ (!!) when I returned the car 24h00 prior to date AND with much more gasoline.. I honestly think the balance could have been zero and not .88 $!!!!

Everything about the staff and this location is great. I believe it is an inconvenience and a money making scheme to give us a vehicle with less than a full tank as Uhaul will always make money off of that situation. It is not difficult to fill up the vehicles, especially when you are located right next to a gas station. Because the vehicle does not show you how much the tank is while you're pumping and because this part of the manual was missing (on tank size), Uhaul got a free $20 off of me. It should also be listed on the gas cap or nearby which type of fuel is neccessary.
The customer service at this location was excellent. Pick-up and drop-off could not have gone any better.

The service was excellent, the person that helped us out at the counter and that gave us the Cargo Van was friendly and very polite. The location was OK, it was a plus that it was next to a metro station. The vehicle worked perfectly, but it was not completely clean, and had many bumps. Overall I had a great experience and I would recommend it.
Advance notice that insurance and a padlock are required. Also - and this is BIG - we had an "upper" storage unit --- which was nearly impossible for the large couch we stored. That was an unpleasant surprise, but we managed (with Vic's great help).
Anthony promptly and cheerfully greeted us as we drove up - he was great. Nasser was polite and efficient. Vic was fantastic in helping us unload. Great staff!

I was not called or informed of my pickup time for my uhaul rental until I called the two weeks, the week, and the day before. No one was able to give me an exact time to pickup until 15 hours before which was highly inconvenient for planning purposes
Usually public restrooms are just plain disgusting. The staff at this location always seemed to keep the restroom in pristine order. And I always saw a staff member sweeping or cleaning the floors.
Some personnel were friendly and helpful, but the majority were not; had to go to a different location to receive adequate service
The employee working was completely disinterested in helping us with our reservation and appear annoyed and bothered. She did not make eye contact, mumbled and was curt in her communication.
My customer re was beyond perfect- wonderful!!! And I rented a van that was in perfect shape!!!!

not lie about how much you'll charge us in the end. the cashier told us the total would be about $50 and charged us $82 for a total of having the truck for less than an hour and going 3 miles. she was also not very nice.

Best U-Haul experience we have ever had. Well-run, professional, courteous and friendly -- and the truck we ordered was ready when we needed it. Went back a couple of times for additional moving supplies, including exchanging some, and that went very smoothly, too. Kudos to Hassan and all the others.
If there is an award for customer service, this location should be tops on your list. Saturday afternoon was rainy and miserable and they were very busy yet they were efficient and helpful. Osmand who waited on me was very professional.

I paid for an appliance dolly, which they did not include. I had to go to a separate location in Baltimore to pick up the dolly.
The cargo van rental, service, and location were all great. If I could add one comment, it would be that the plastic bed protector I purchased for moving a mattress was terrible. It ripped almost immediately after being put on, didn't have a flap to tape shut to ensure that the mattress was totally covered, and was all in all a poorly designed, cheap piece of junk that caused my mattress I was moving to get very dirty. But the van rental itself was great.

Before I turned my truck in, I stopped and filled the gas tank completely at a station a few blocks away. Upon arrival at the u haul facility, there was a backup of 6 different rental trucks in the street, all trying to park and close out, all blocking traffic in four directions. After fruitlessly waiting in the car for 20 minutes for the uhaul agent outside to tell me what to do, I realized I would probably just have to go inside first. With nowhere open on the uhaul lot to park, I had to park the truck 50 feet down the street. I went inside, flagged someone down, and indicated where I had parked the car so I could begin the checkout process. The gentlemen was previously extremely busy with all the folks turning their trucks in, so instead of a proper checkout, he looked at me and told me I was all good, and that he would email me the reciept. Upon receiving the receipt, I noticed that the gas tank was marked well below the full line by the agent who brought it in, and that I was charged an additional 22.10 because of it, even though I filled the tank completely immediately arriving. I'm not sure how to resolve this, but I'm very disappointed that I'm being charged erroneously on top of the insane return experience I had.

This place was very convenient. The staff was always very helpful and friendly.
They are very rude and unprofessional. Ghetto appearance overall. Manager is ignorant. They tried to cheat me out of money. For example, they tried to charge me for two gallons of gas for driving 16 miles. They charged me 17 miles. Ilook at the mileage before I got out of the truck. I drove the same distance on Pensky truck yesterday and only had to pay for 16 miles. They always leave gas at a level that is hard to replace without going over.
I went back there yesterday tried to rent, I was told I that I left the truck dirty Saturday even though they gave me a water hose to wash the truck and I did for 20 minute. Why didn't they tell me that the truck was not clean enough right then and there instead of leaving note in my contract which by the way, I waited for him to write his nasty comment. He was full of joy when he finished. The way they treat black people at this location is ridiculous!

We using the truck for opening houses every week end. And this location always makes sure we get the truck we need on time and for the time we need. The manager Osman is awesome and everybody else at this location . This is by far the best location in Washington, D.C. . Thanks Abdul , Dantey , sakaya ,Tom and rest of the team..

Friendly, easy to drop off. They were managing multiple truck drop offs and were able to answer all of our questions and help us with the billing.

Staff was efficient and quick. With setting up the reservation online, I was able to pick up the truck in 10 minutes and was quickly on my way and the return was just as fast. Highly recommend.

The truck only had about 1/4 tank of gas and it would be nice-especially in a large city to have at least a half tank. However, the staff was really great.

All of the service reps I spoke with were courteous and helpful, even when I kept making scheduling changes. Vehicle availability has been good both times I used them. Engine power was plentiful. I've used trucks before that could barely get up to 50 mph on the highway with only half a load. The only problem was the passenger door that had to be slammed to get it shut all the way.
Only thing I would say is the line to get help was very long and there were obviously other people working but no one else came to assist.
Nice woman served me. They were busy but she was attentive and acknowledged me waiting in line.

We had to wait an hour for the truck we reserved online. They should make sure all trucks are available for your reservation. This location also does not pick up their phone. There is a recording that says there was an "error" anytime you try to call.
Ensure adequate staff in the lobby. Had a line of 5+ people and no one at the desk.
When returning the vehicles, there is no clear indication of where to park the trucks.
After dropping off my U Haul at the Town & Country U Haul in Huntersville, NC I was informed by an employee at that location that the auto transport which an employee at the Washington DC U Haul location had installed for me, was NOT properly installed. The employee at Town & Country of Huntersville was absolutely flabbergasted, and apologized for what he said was one of the most extreme cases of an improperly installed auto transport he had ever seen.
Essentially, my tires were not strapped in, and the straps were just around my axles, so the car was essentially "floating" on the truck, and could have fallen off at a moments notice.
On top of that, the brake lights did not work, as the employee at the DC Uhaul location did not put the brake wires up high enough, so that they drug on the ground and eventually melted.
The fact that I did not know how to install the auto transport and had to rely on an employee at this location to install it for me, and, by not installing it correctly, they put my life and others on the road at risk, extremely angers me. I paid over $850 for a 15 foot truck from Washington, DC to the Charlotte area, and essentially risked my life, others, and potentially damaged my car in the process due to the tire straps being around my axles.
I am seeking reimbursement from uhaul for this experience, as this is absolutely unacceptable.
Great customer service from the young lady this morning when I picked up my van. Also when I dropped off there was a line and a polite helpful man asked if I was dropping off and said he would take the key for me and I could skip the line. Great staff and service.
It was a very busy day due to it being the end of month. Also, the location, although convenient, seems to be too big for its britches in that there is very little room to park. Quite a busy block.

My associate was great. It was slightly before 7am and she was already taking care of a lot of things. She got me ready and on my way in no time. Very courteous and helpful - even when I picked up boxes a few weeks earlier.
I was scheduled to pick up my truck at 1750 Bladensburg Road. When I arrived I discovered that they did not have a truck and sent me to 2215 5th St NE
Washington, DC 20002. When I arrived the management was great and had my truck waiting. Check-in was quick and easy. I highly recommend this location
First of all you need to send a price confirmation to the customer upon booking. I will not be booking with UHaul again because when I originally booked the truck the rate was somewhere in the 700 dollar range and with the insurance I selected it was right around 1000 total before tax. When I paid at the store the base price for the truck was almost 1000 so the total with insurance and tax came to around 1250. When I checked my email to see what the quote price was I realized that the original price wasn't in the email and that I had to connect to a link which clearly had altered the price. Also, my debit card was declined despite having four times the amount necessary in my account. Finally, the attendant was a huge dick.
I called the central office customer service number the day before, and they told me I could pick up the truck at 7 am. When I arrived at the location, I was told the truck would not be ready until noon. They then transferred my rental to a different location, and I spent an hour on the bus to get there and pick up the truck.
Prompt customer service and great communication.
The staff that assisted me we extremely prompt and professional. I had not one issue with reserving my 15 Footer! You guys are outstanding!
Difficult location to drop off vehicles
The price of $19.99 to rent a 10' truck is fairly deceiving. I used the rental truck for about 8 hours and only drove it for approximately 13 miles and my bill came out to $51.00. A bit of gouging if you ask me. Otherwise, no discredit at all to the vehicle itself and most importantly the employees working at this particular site who would go above and beyond to assist you anyway they can.

Make sure that auto transport tires aren't flat before you let a customer load an auto.

We are a non profit veterans organization and have been around since 1968. I have been using U haul since 1978 or before. We want to use the corporate discount rates and hope to do so soon. however we are very very please with the team at 5 th NE in DC and usually all that we have used except for a couple and that was perhaps an individual. I have been doing disaster relief with the American Red Cross for approximately 9 yrs this time around and U haul is always there with so many more. I think we used 50 on a daily basis for months in NY during Hurricane Sandy. I know you make good money from us but you do a good job.

When a competitor's truck reservation fell through, I walked in with no reservation. The staff here went way above and beyond to find me a one-way rental. They turned a potential disaster to a wonderful example of excellent customer service. I highly recommend this location.

We were given a large Uhaul moving truck instead of the van we ordered. At no point during the ordering process were we told vans were only for local moves until we picked it up and at that time it was too late to cancel the order which is what I would have done if there were any other options. The customer service at this location was very poor. They did not care that the order was incorrect. The online Uhaul customer service was also terrible. I had to change the order twice because it was posted incorrectly and it still was not updated resulting in no available locations to drop off the Uhaul. The customer service representative was terrible. Not only did he not care that there were no locations available to drop off the van, he insisted we keep it for 2 more days when we had no where to put it in Manhattan. To top it off he refused to let us speak to a supervisor and then hung up on us. I will never use Uhaul again.

My only suggestion would be to have a better place were customers can park their vehicles while utilizing the rental.

I requested a van on the uhaul website by clicking on a photo of a VAN. When I got to uhaul, I was given a 10' box truck ("moving van"), even though I wanted a smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicle. The term "moving van" is a misnomer and leads to confusion and customer frustration, plus wasted time and energy by staff. Fix the website and the reservation system to ensure that what people order is what they get.
Store front & interior is overdue for an upgrade.

Aysha is an excellent asset to this location, she is extremely efficient and got me on my way even though the location itself was very busy. I would recommend that you add staff to this location (mostly to alleviate the burdens of your current workers)- but also make sure you hang on to the great staff that you already have.
The manager here is the nicest man ever. I have never moved before and I was very nervous. He made the experience very pleasant by answering all my questions and telling me it would be easy. He was right! I felt very empowered. A+

24 hour drop worked great
Set up a designated drop off and / or pick up spot. You are located in a very tight area, near a corner on a narrow street.

The van was clean and new and well maintained. Two of the 4 employees I observed or interacted with were friendly and clearly wanted to help customers. The other 2 employees either didn't seem to know what was going on or they didn't care. The van I rented was at the location, but it took some time to locate it.
The location was very convenient to the university which allowed for an expedient pickup. The customer service representative was polite and ensured the trailer was connected to our vehicle correctly.
Service was great. Probably open another shop around Rosslyn area?

My belongings have been in the storage 4 2yrs I only checked on it twice and everything was still the same I would recommend... The only problem I hadd was that my bill kept goin up!!!
The staff and unit was excellent. I went online to find the unit and I should have checked out the location before hand. The street was tight and it was not easy to get in or out.
They were very nice and helpful we were able to rent a storage and drop off our uhaul at the same time. I would recommend them to others.
Note: The late fees high, and unnecessary. Otherwise, probably would have kept storage longer.
Would be nice to have lighting in the storage room itself.
I would recommend this U-Haul Storage Facility because,the Manager was always friendly and the staff was too. They go out their way to make sure you was taken care of in a professional way.

The staff for the truck rental and storage set up were exceptionally helpful and we will always consider this particular U-Haul store our 1 choice for rental and storage
The main problem is the location and lack of parking in loading dock. The rental trucks are often cleaned and returned in dock. The staff is nice, but they could do more to clear access.
24 hours access would have been ideal. Disappointed at not being reimbursed for 1/2 of my monthly rental when I cleared out of storage on the 15th of the month.

Unorganized, poorly managed
The corridors are a bit dark, but do have lights. The card access isn`t working now, otherwise I would give it a very good rating.
I was told to email the GM for a discount b/c there was a pole in my unit. After my 3rd email he replied he was waiting for UHI to reply, then I never heard from him again. I never got my discount.
Only issue I have is that I prepaid for the entire month of August. I did not use the unit for the entire month, but was not given a portion of the prepaid month back.
When I moved and retrieve my belongings from u haul storage some of my belongings had mice/rat dropping, they had gnawed on some items and moldy smell.
There is limited parking in the area, but staff was very helpful about directing where was okay to park while dropping off and loading.

The weekday hours makes it difficult to access for someone who works until 6 or 7 like many DC residents. The staff was fairly slow and one was quite rude on the phone.

Very impressed by the friendly and helpful staff!
The place was unsecured for months. Rats entered the facility a horrible smell developed. My unit acquired the smell rats destroyed my items. I`m furious disgusted.

Water leak into unit and damaged several items. Facility smelled like cat litter. On 3 occasions staff parked vans in front of the loading dock which prevented access

The facility provided a good storage for me. The employees could work on communication skills but for the most part - this place provided a nice storage unit at a low cost.

The only issue that I had was the parking. Parking is not available.

Hard to drive into, find parking, maneuver a truck in this area. Too hectic.
Only complaint is the fact that they only use one loading dock, making it EXTREMELY difficult at time to load/unload items.

I`m in decent shape and can lift/move things. But the elevator has been out the entire time and the security system is also out. Makes it hard to justify the cost and recommend to anyone right now!

Excellent this is my third year renting.
Sometimes the lines at the front desk were excessively long or took a very long time. For the most part, my experience was very positive.
My unit had a concrete pole going through it. So it was smaller and harder to maneuver but the staff was nice, it was easy, and affordable after a free month with the rental of a truck.
Put more trust in the customer Your lockes on the units if payment is a minutes late.
I don`t like the fact that U haul doesn`t prorate the monthly bill. I had to pay for a full month and only went 4 days into billing cycle.
Customer service experience at this location was horrible. Uhaul needs to send manager and customer service reps to have training in customer service.
It was a good year for me here and i did recommend it to several people i now and they still have storeage units there!!!

It was poor timing but the computers went down the morning I went to reserve my unit. It took over an hour to pay for the unit- but hopefully I just came on a bad day and this experience is unique.
The lighting is rather poor and if you have an upper storage unit, it can be a hassle to get access to a ladder.
The sales reps were not helpful and they worry about making more money off me then helping me.

I have been using this facility for four years. The best thing about this facility is the manager Osman. Osman is a wonderful manager. He is always helpful, polite and a real gentleman.

I certainly will not recommend this U haul location at 2215 5th Street, NE Washington, DC to anyone. I experienced property damaged while in storage with rat droppings and eggs all over my property.
The facility is good but one doesn`t necessarily feel safe in the place or in the area....staff was helpful and my stuff was safe, but did feel unsafe given the clientele and location.

I have used this particular U-haul location for multiple moves, both in-town and one-way, and now for storage, as well. The staff are always great!!
Ladders were always left in the way upstairs. I`ve had my pad locked by uhaul even when my bill was paid. I would recommend uhaul, just not that location. Trying to pay my bill wasn`t always easy.
