I originally had a contract to rent a 26 foot van from 1400 RTE 9 S OLD BRIDGE,NJ 08857 that day. at 11 am. when I got there they told me I was at the wrong place and sent me to another uhaul place down the road on rte 9. When I got to the other place they sent me back to 1400 RTE 9. When I arrived the second time they told me yes they don't know where the 26 ft van is and that I would have a hard time finding any van that day. The guy got customer service to call me, she was helpful. The closest 26 ft van for me to have was in Queens New York. That was unacceptable as I had movers arriving at noon and I did not want to drive to Queens leave my car in Queens and drive a 26 ft truck through the city. I originally had a contract to go one way from NJ to Brewster New York. I ended up settling for a 15 ft van and having to return it to NJ the next day. When we picked up the van at 21st century, the guy was no help. He told us to do it all on our phone so I had to stand in the parking lot and download the app and spend 30 minutes trying to figure it out. We lost an hour of our movers time at 120 dollars an hour and I had to make 2 trips to my destination because the van wasn't big enough and spend an extra day coming back to New Jersey that I did not plan on, spending more on gas and tolls. Worst rental experience of my life. You have a nerve to charge me anything.Steven H.

the only issue I had was with the online pickup process. I followed the instructions (log into my uhaul acct, had location svcs turned on, etc), but I kept getting an error message that my location could not be determined. I followed the directions to make sure my phone browser (safari/iOS iphone) was set correctly, but it still wouldn't work. I tried multiple times and verified that my location svcs were on, the uhaul web address was not blocked and location enabled for it, etc. I then called and was placed in queue for 25+ mins. While waiting, I decided to try to download the Uhaul app and once I did that, the check in/pickup process went fine. If I had known that in advance (e.g., if there was a prominently displayed message during my reservation process to download the phone app for the pickup process), then I would have done that in advance and saved all that time. I lost about ~ 45 mins in total of time to try to complete the online pickup process. Seems that apps are more efficient/reliable in terms of working in concert with smart phones for these processes, vs. the websites. Merci.Gregory M.

Like to of known before picking up the truck that it would have been cheaper on Sunday rather then Saturday per mile . Disappointed of 1,99 $ per mile vs 1,00 $ it would have saved me 200,00 $ which is a lot. I could have done my move either day. If U haul can help me with this expense I would really appreciate that. The fuel tank was on full when I drove it back, more than when I picked it up. The original contract was to pick it up closer to my home, however, I had to travel a total 8 miles to use the truck. I was not treated fairly at all. No, I will not recommend anyone to use Uhaul.Dawn C.

Every single time I try to rent at this location it's a disaster. We have a corporate account and it takes 40 minutes. I'll never rent here again. I'll go back to our usual Middletown location. What's the point of having a corporate account if every time you go to check in you have to repeat the whole reservation process?? If I'm the guy who rents the truck 99 % you should have a â€œdefaultâ€ driver loaded into the system. Show your drivers license and go. You guys are the worst.Peter W.

Dean and Darren very helpful. Telephone sign in very easy. Only issue : when I went online at U-Haul initially the computer indicated that there was no cargo van at this location. I called Dean who informed me that the computer was wrong and he did hava a van and booked it for me. So the computer info was incorrect.and would have made me go to a location further away. My original reservation was in Neptune my van was not there, Uhaul rerouted me to Wanamassa when they promised a van would be waiting, I was there on 15 min. But the van was not there. I was again redirected to Oakhurst whereafter going 10 miles out of my way and a lost hour I finally got a van. This is totally unacceptable. I don't know if I'll ever use Uhaul again.KURT K.

I own a business so I always rent from your company, I rent a van about 2 to 3 times a month. This time it was snowing and the roads are wet and dirty every, any after I bought back the the van your guy called the next day telling me that the front of the van is dirty, and I have 2 choices One is to charge me 50 $or I have to go back to him and he will bring a bucket and a sponge for me to clean the truck!!! That's insane!!! And disrespect for your customer!! Anyway he changed me the 50 $!!! You need worker with respect and manners!!!MAHMOUD G.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! The truck I rented ended up breaking down. I was stuck for 3 hours waiting for the tow company, my entire day was ruined. U-haul and the dealer I rented the truck from were not willing to compensate me for this horrible experience. In fact they wanted to charge me for bringing the truck back late. I will never rent another u-haul again. U-haul if you want to make this right look into my roadside file my claim number is 1955062. I was stuck for 3 hours and missed my sons baseball game. Thanks for making a routine rental experience the worst experience of my life and not giving a shit about it. That's world class customer service, cheers to you!Anthony P.

Local representatives were fine. Internet order was a nightmare. Location and time was changed. I was supposed to receive a call the day before pick up. I did not, in fact, I had to call three times. Representatives were of no help. I was promised call backs which I did not receive. On a scale of 1-10 my experience was a zero. Further, in travel we had a blow out tire on the auto transport. I understand these things happen. After, 1,5 hours trying to reach reach roadside assistance we finally talked to a representative who apologized for the the wait. He said we'll get someone one there within 30 minutes and he would text me the arrival time. I get the text in a few minutes stating the arrival time would be in 90 minutes. Again, the local people were fine. Roadside was less than 20 minutes getting back on the road. This is only part of the story. I will never, never, never use your web to order again. Once I did the web, I was locked out of speaking with any local representatives. The service was beyond terrible. In all, we were stranded on the road side nearly 4 hoursDaniel K.

The checkin process has not gone smooth for me yet. This last tome I got to the last step and the process just hung. Had to wait 30 minutes to talk to someone to correct the problem.FRANCIS B.
My experience was poor - not because of a location - but because of the constant errors and miscommunications. I picked up the truck at this location, on 5/31, (being told where to get it the night before), and apparently this location can't find your phone if you have Verizon (the customer service rep told me this is an ongoing issue for this location). Verizon is a pretty big carrier, so that's a HUGE problem. I had check-in online, when I made the reservation, but I had to call to get checked in and get the code for my key - even though apparently, that day, the systems were down. I get the truck - do my move - all is fine. I go to return it to the location I was given at the time I made my reservation (5/26). That day, I got a call, to confirm my reservation, and the customer service woman told me that the pick-up location would likely change, based on availability of the truck, and they'd get as close as they could to my preference location. She said the drop-off location doesn't change. Based on that information, I left my car at the drop-off location, so that I could get home when I was done. When I go online to do my drop-off, it has me bringing it to a different location. Clearly, I cant do that now since my car is with me at my current location: 1st Century Storage 1800 Rte 35 S Oakhurst, NJ 07755 I call customer service because it was just after 5:00, and the 848 number was closed. I speak to person number 1 who tells me she can't change it. I let her know that's not an answer I can work with, so I need to talk to a manager. I finally get to speak to Ashley Mosley (who was so nice and accommodating). After some time on hold, she says it's taken care of, and I send her an email with pictures of the truck - the mileage - and me putting the key in the drop box (at 6:03 on 5/31). I then see a charge for keeping the truck for an extra day -40 $. I call to get that taken care of, and it takes someone 1-3 business days to get back to me to get my money back since they entered the time in at 1:30ish and I actually picked up the truck at 10:30 am ON THE SAME DAY AS DROPPING IT OFF. I had the truck for about 8 hours. It's not that I don't recommend this location. I just don't recommend this company for moving. Constant errors and it made my moving process even more complicated. Still dealing with moving a week after I rented the truck. Terrible.Robyn J.

Thank God for this location. The APP would not work and the process to use the APP is ridiculous it asks for an additional contact # but doesn't tell you they are calling that person and they need to be available to answer or your pick up fails and you can NOT get the truck. There isn't even a back up using the 800#. The APP must have been down as well cause it would say network error. Crazy. I switched to in person and the guy inside the store was great. .Joseph M.

Well it should not take 2 hrs to leave premises with a truck my pick up was 1030 had a lot of trouble with on line app to pick up truck every time I got to the end and ready to get confirmation number to get key for truck it would shut down and want me to start over had to be to work by 330 so I had no time to load truck and go to my new home had to wait till I got off work at 8 p.m. to move cause it took me so long to get truckdiane V.

My original contract with another local dealer which I handled 3 weeks prior in person, fell through as that dealer no longer handled rentals. No notification was given. Received a call that the dealer was closing due to Coronavirus. Sent my wife to pay for the truck being as I was working. Sent her to original dealer, had to drive to new dealer. The new contract was different due to time of pick up. Sent email, Area field manager was more than accommodating to agree to original contract. Other than the truck not being that clean, it was new. Might have hit the perfect storm with all that's going on. Would give this location another try.FRANK L.

I did not like that fact that if I the customer had a code pick up, where you enter a code and there was difficulty and you called customer service to assist there's nothing you can do but recommend another location until the office opens. The experience I had with Uhaul was terrible!!! I finally got the key to the truck I reserved with the help of the storage unit manager and got the truck, only to have a message on my phone waiting for me by Uhaul letting me know they didn't have a contract with me and they are going to call the police and report the truck stolen. Message left by a woman named Susan who I called in the morning about the code I was having trouble with. Then I was charged for extra insurance fee of 14,00 $ which I did not asked for and I had to put in a claim to receive a refund. Terrible service from Uhaul. Horrible experience that your company was going to call the police on me and left it on my voicemail. At this point I would not recommend Uhaul to anyone!Shaera T.
