U-haul can make sure that their trucks have fuel in them before handing it over to the customer. Also, the mobile services are awful. It takes so long just to get approved & get your keys. Could not get the app to work, fortunately a representative arrived and was able to help me. If he wasn't there I don't know what I would have done, it was in a remote location and no office or business around. The location was not handy but Uber was able to find. 1) When we arrived, the entrance to the parking lot was blocked by a parked car. We were towing a car carrier and we couldn't get into the parking lot to drop off the truck, because the car carrier couldn't clear the improperly parked car. We called this locations phone number, and were told to leave the car carrier as is. However, with the street being too narrow this would have blocked the street traffic in both directions. Overall, we spent more than an hour trying to get the car carrier through the narrow passage, by unhitching it and hitching it back to the truck under a different angle. 2) I got charged for gas, even though I returned the truck with more gas than I got this truck with. I emailed U-Haul, but they never got back to me.OLEG M.
There is nobody to reflect any service. The instructions to return the truck was extremely confusing, reaching to a customer service was too long wait. Unless you install the UHaul app the return instructions do NOT work for iphone! If I ever use UHaul rental, I would find a location with people to return it!Mehmet B.
The materials I ordered were not in the truck when I picked it up, despite my attempts to do that by working with customer service and waiting on hold for over 2 hours and multiple calls. This location does not have an office and did not answer the listed phone number when I called multiple times. It is not listed as an exclusive empty lot, even to the U-Haul employees that I spoke to. The best I got from your team was "your only hope is that they get your stuff in your truck." I will be seeking a refund for the materials I did not receive.William R.
I would have appreciated a call or email to let me know that the truck I wanted was not available at the location I originally picked (in Brookfield, IL) and given some options/locations of where to pick up a truck. I would have never wanted to pick up a truck from downtown Chicago.Dominic B.

Terrible experience! Johnny gave us a broken truck and refused to exchange it. Check engine light was on when we got it and it only made it two hours out of Chicago. The only reason we went to this location was for a one way truck to Georgia. Never again, complete bullshit. He even took our insurance off the truck without asking us. Checkin process was very inefficient, had to call customer service for 35 minutes to get it resolved and then call was dropped and had to wait even longer for it to get approved.Jensen J.

Not a good location at all. Very difficult to maneuver through with all the cars everywhere. The whole online process for getting the truck was a terrible experience from all the self-guided action steps that usually a paid staff member does to the requirement to 'share my location' was pretty frustrating. I will definitely for a different company next time I need a rental truck. And, we paid the same price as someone who walked into a UHaul location and the staff member did all of the work, instead of me doing all of your work. If you're going to make us do all of your work, you need to give a discount for the money you're saving by not having a UHaul staff member do.Jason R.

it took over an hour for us to "check in" because the website was not working properly, and it took 45 minutes to get someone on the phone to help. It was completely unclear when we made the reservation online that there wouldn't be a live human to help us at the location. if we had known, we would have chosen a different location. We were on a very tight schedule that day and this mishap set us way back and caused a MAJOR inconvenience.Alexander V.
I had technical issues throughout as the website wouldn't work. Had to call twice and stay on hold for a total of about an hour while waiting in the parking lot. Even after everything the person helping me could not get all of my items returned correctly. There was no hand truck in the truck and no one reachable at the site or phone number to help. I called, attempt a chat session and sent emails with no help. The trucks check engine light was on. Finally I never received a final receipt. Terrible customer service.Vanessa G.

It took 30 minutes upon arrival to get approved & grab the key from the box. The U-haul appeared clean at first, then I found dirty socks & trash in the crevices. The U-haul was shaking for the whole ride.Abigail A.
Overall pick up was great. Johny met in the morning at the location and gave me the keys. He even explained me how to switch gears in the truck, because I hadn't driven U-Haul before that. Maybe one thing to improve is coordination between the branches and your central software. My reservation should've been started at 8 am in the morning, but the contract was started in the evening a day before (around 8pm previous day). Someone, not from the this location, even called me that evening and asked if the truck with me. Her records showed that I already picked up the truck but in fact I didn't. So, this was confusing. For me, the few more hours were not so important as I rented a truck for 7 days, but for others this may impact the price.Peter D.
The drop off location was just an empty lot. If there were not other U-Haul trucks there, I would not have been able to find the location. Information up front notifying me that the drop off location was self serve and not well marked would be helpful.Bruce K.

Never using UHaul again and would tell everyone that is moving not to. Check your gas tanks before you give them to new people and tell them you're going to overcharge them because they aren't 1/4 full.Lauren H.
The individual who called me to confirm my truck was very unprofessional. I also had ordered materials to help me move, and they were not located in the truck. This made my move extremely difficult as this was a contactless pickup, so I could not go back to ask for the materials.Danielle K.

Blankets in the trailer were soaking wet and the gas tank had roughly 20 miles left. I was then charged for a full tank of gas even though they told me to leave the same amount in the tank as when I retrieved it.Ty J.
This was my first remote rental. They mentioned you could save time by pre-registering before you got to the location, but I didn't realize how long that process was, so I didn't do that. going through the setup process while standing outside isn't the best, so I think it's a good idea to more strongly suggest the pre-registration.Nathan B.

Was doing a move where a furniture dolly like I reserved was critical to me being able to do the move by myself. I got a utility dolly instead and reported this and the sum of the action was I got refunded $7 for the furniture dolly I never got, still collecting $150+ for the truck. I expected something more, like a 10 % discount on the cost of the truck. something small but a statement. Uhaul disappointed me in this regard.David K.
Perhaps clarify where people should park their personal vehicles when picking up a rental van or box truck. As it turned out I parked in the large and mostly empty lot where the U-HAUL vehicles were located, but I was worried about the possibility of being towed. Everything worked out well, but a little more guidance about where to park when picking up a rental would be helpful!David K.

It's just an unkept-looking parking lot that feels like it's part of a construction site, & feels really sketchy to be alone in. If the rideshare driver didn't insist I was at my destination, I wouldn't have known that I was. There was trash & broken glass everywhere, & the distance between the trucks and the key lockers made the process unintuitive; I needed to call for assistance with what to do. But the person on the phone was incredibly helpful and friendly, and all was good in the end!Shelby J.
This should not be a location. I ask for a location that had an in person check out and this was not that. I call the number given and it is a personal cell phone. The person I talked to hung up on me and was hard to understand. I really had a bad time with this location and the person we worked with.Martin G.
Despite having a reservation made over a month in advance and selecting contactless pick-up option (done via mobile), there was no equipment reserved for me and my reservation never transferred to the company managing this location. There is no office on site so after several phone calls I was finally able to get a van, but it had none of the moving equipment I had reserved making the move process much more difficult. When I got to the area to put up the truck it was no key in the lock box. I had to call and that took over an hour to get a person from U-Haul! I call the number for the remote location and it was a young loud ghetto person on the phone that just transferred me to the 1800 number. The whole experience sucked and then on top of that I got over charged $28 for gas and mileage, when the truck didn't have any gas in it from the beginning and was charged for 37 miles and only went 6 milesAaron M.
