It is Sunday, the day after UHaul became forever known as UFail. I have already received not 1, but 2 emails asking for feedback, the last one at 10:30 pm local. Really, at 10:30 on a Sunday night?! But no problem, I'll give you what you asked for. Yesterday afternoon, I showed up at a UFail lot to pick up a truck as contracted, with my online link open and ready to go. Or so I thought. 10 minutes later, with no online response, I walked inside the UFail office, thinking that I was doing something wrong. The counter dude said "No, we don't have any UFail trucks available. Maybe someone didn't bring it back." I'm thinking, "WTF. Did I buy a scratch-off ticket or rent a UFail truck? And how the f... am I going to explain this to MY customer. You see, unlike UFail, some of us actually have to perform as promised or be fired. Some of us build our reputation on customer service. But not UFail. No, counter dude looked at me and said "There's a truck at another UFail office, about 5 miles away." So I'm back in MY car, pushing down the Interstate and thinking "Who's going to pay for MY miles and MY gas and MY late fine?" Umm, that would be ME. So I roll in to the next UFail and counter dude #2 says...wait for it...,"No, we don't have any UFail trucks available" WTF, are you kidding me? Him, "We only have One-Way UFail trucks." I look at him--and he looks at me. And then he says, "Hmm, I probably shouldn't send you to a THIRD UFail lot." I think, "Ya think?" He says "Okay, I'll give you a truck." So now I'm supposed to thank UFail dude for doing me 'a favor'? End of story, right? Oh. I. Wish. Next comes checkout. Look, I use apps every day to send pictures, no problem. Pictures of checks--front and back, pictures of documents, pictures of me (no not those). But to Ufail...I can't send pictures. No, the UFail website is even worse, if that is humanly possible, than its truck availability. So, 'Favor dude' gives up and asks for my license AND of all the other info I had already entered into the UFail system. Clearly, he is now having just about as much fun as I am. End of story, right? Nope. He rolls the UFail truck around and says all the damage is marked with grease pencil. That's cool I Ithink, except for those 2 new creases on the hood, as he walks past. By now I'm so late that I roll up the UFail rear gate way too fast and have to hear that I did it wrong. Not "Oh here, I'll let me show you how to the keep the UFail from doing that." So now I'm supposed to think that makes everything even?!" Let's summarize: UFail substitutes a lottery for availability, breaches contracts freely and repeatedly; deploys misleading and non-functional online systems, and provides abysmal customer service. To whomever reads this, here's your chance to go against the UFail grain. Pretend that you don't work for a company that would rather ruin someone else's reputation for a buck than try to salvage their own. Make this right.David W.
I was expecting to be able to use the app to check in but this location did not have that. Plus, they did not open until nine so I had to wait for them. I had gotten there at 8:30, Somehow my order had changed as well and I did not notice until I was billed. The truck had a leak in its roof which caused some cushions and a couch to be wet after it rained. I will be more likely to use one of the larger stores in the future.Jeffrey M.

I booked it till 4 PM evening but the owner told me u have to return by 2. I had already planned it based on online booking but he kept pressing me to return by 2 when I could not return it by 2 , he charged me additional $45 for next day also.Rajesh Y.
If I were U-Haul, i would not contract with this location. The man running this site is the biggest asshole I've ever met. I chose mobile express for a reason and he said that doesn't matter, i have to do it with him. When i said â€œoh, that's my truck behind the gateâ€ meaning the one that matched my number, he said â€œfirst of all, that's my truck.â€ He was an asshole for no reason and made me want to never use U-Haul againElizabeth R.

The owner of this location was very rude. He almost refused to rent to us because we had out-of-state licenses. We had just moved to Houston 2 days prior and needed a rental to unload our UPack at the terminal. We clearly had not had time to obtain new IDs and explained this to him. We had also requested to have the rental for 7 hours as we wanted to take our time unloading into our apartment. He refused to allow us to have the vehicle this long and was going to charge us if we did not return the equipment within 4 hours. Of note, we rented equipment during a weekday and he seemed to have a surplus of the 10ft trucks in his lot. He was also incredibly rude when I mentioned that UHaul was prompting me to complete the rental process via phone. He insinuated that I was overly attached to my phone despite this being what his corporate wanted. We need to rent a Uhaul again next week to pick up some furniture from a box store and will be going out of our way to not rent from him.Kyle C.

Put a reservation in online, when I showed up the man says oh well the online reservation doesn't give us all the information we need so we have to do it again. He says he opened up my reservation I put in online BUT how is that if I still had to drop the truck way back at the location I got it from. I put pickup 77054 Drop off 77080 he tells me they're just a partnership and the truck has to come back to the location, had he said that upon my arrival and gone over my reservation with me just to insure everything was correct I would have noticed the drop off locations changed. I never used uhaul before this was a first and bad experience. I don't get why y'all do two separate transactions instead of just putting a authorized hold on the card for when you are complete with your trip. Not only did I have a $62 I had a $73 charge, he's like it's not a charge it says pending, but sir the money has still been taken out my account as I can tell by the difference of my previous balance. My point is your workers need to insure everything is correct and understood before just â€œgetting them on their way.â€ I don't get why he told another customer before me to pick up the truck in Shreveport and drop it off in Houston but told me I didn't have the option to pickup in Houston at this location and drop off at another made zero sense what so ever. James was not a friendly person. When I went to pick up the UHaul, he explained the mileage, gas, and insurance. James was very rude. I added covers to my rental but since the items were with tape and other items , I assumed they were for purchase. When I went to return the item, I put the blankets in my personal truck. Very rudely, James ask where the blankets were. I answered â€œin my truck, we're we supposed to return those as well?â€ He looked at me with a blank stare and shook his head. At this point, I understood the point they were supposed to be returned with the truck. I walked to my truck and grabbed all the blankets and placed them in the back of the UHAUL. James closed the UHAUL and walked to his office. As he was walking in , I asked are we all done and are we good to go. With the frustrated tone, he continued to open his office door and said â€œif you don't want a receiptâ€. I again understood the point to follow him so I can receive a receipt. At this point, I was over his unprofessional tone and attitude and really didn't want a receipt but I followed him into his office. As there was an awkward silence , he worked on printing the receipt. I apologized for not being aware the blankets were not a purchase. In a very frustrated tone and belittling attitude, His response was â€œwhy would you think you would purchase blankets for $6?â€. I said I apologize this is my first time ever having to rent an UHAUL by myself. He went on to shaking his head and grabbing the receipt off the printer. He handed me the receipt. I said thank you. With no response from James, I immediately was at my last straw . I asked how can we rate that location. He pointed at the receipt. I said thank you and I wasn't you to know you have very horrible customer service skills. I will not recommend ANYONE to this location. He is not friendly and seems as he hated his job.CYNTHIA M.

i rented the truck for 8 hours on line and when I arrived to pick it up I was told I could only have it for 4 hours on a Saturday. I should have been notified before I arrived so I could have made different arrangements. I also reserved furniture pads and there were not available. It really isn't ok to have the "subject to availability" as an out. It would have been simple to email me with the restrictions. I made my reservation well in advance of the pick up date. I was called and told I could keep the truck for an extra hour which I appreciated but because of this it made the whole move difficult.JOAN C.

The man at the location was extremely rude and combative. I wanted my truck at 7 and he didn't set it up for me to pick up until 9:15. When I asked to bring it back two hours later since he gave it to me late he told me he would charge me $100 an hour because he booked it for someone else right at my drop off time. He charged me for things I did not want and then basically told me to deal with it. He called me â€œdumbâ€ for not wanting insurance and proceeded to charge me for it even though I said I didn't want it. He kept trying to argue over what I asked for or didn't even thought I showed him my reservation in writing. Absolutely terrible service. He should be fired. I reserved a 26' truck online to pick up at this location at 8am using the app. The night before our move, I received a notification from U-Haul that the 26' was not available here, and I would have to drive to a location 30-40 minutes from my house to pick it up. I called U-Haul and they could not find one closer to me. They also told me that I could only pick it up during business hours, and the location opens at noon. I think they do this to add miles to your trip so you you have to pay extra mileage.ALAN B.

The owner refused to rent the truck to me as I had an out of state license, although I had clearly made the reservation days before. I further believe it was discriminatory because I am a woman. Luckily my son, who we were moving, had a license from Texas so we were able to pick the truck up. I am furious at how I was treated and find it ridiculous that an UHaul location would not want to rent a truck to someone with a license out of state. The manager / owner who is a Middle Aged Caucasian man was extremely rude. He made me wonder if I was walking into a DPS office by asking how long I had kept the Washington driver license while living in Texas. I politely asked him if he was going to allow me to rent or not. He is extremely rude and disrespectful. He is required to ask for. Government issues ID and should not be concerned about my stay in Texas even though I am a repeat customer. These are the kind of people who give UHaul a bad reputation I was also late returning the truck due to unavoidable circumstances and he charges me for 2 days instead of just the extra 2 hours? The man running the shop was very rude and unpleasant to work with. Also I rented a U-haul reservation for 8 hours as that was how long I needed to move all of my things but then when I showed up to pick up the truck they told me that I could only have it for 4 hours or else they were going to charge me for another day. This completely ruined my moving experience as I then had to return the truck halfway through the moving process and had to take the rest of my items in the back of my car over several trips instead of just one more trip in the truck as I had planned. If I'm paying by the day and mile for the truck and reserved it over a week in advance I shouldn't be told the day of that my reservation can't be accommodated. If I was moving any farther away than I was I would have had to just cancel my reservation as I would not have had time to load the truck, travel to my next location, unload the truck, and bring it back in the short 4 hour time frame.Samantha G.

The guy at the counter ( I think his name was George) literally harassed me and made me go through so much trouble. I booked the truck a day before and the moment I went there for pick up, he said that he didn't have any truck and then After sometime he said that he had one, but it's mechanically down. I had to request him over and again. And then he started calling several places for a truck, which didn't work. After some time he gave me the same truck, which was mechanically down five minutes ago ( He lied at first). He also caused trouble with my license. I had moved to Texas from Washington DC one and a half month before. According to TxDPS, an outsider can drive with his old license no more than 90 days. He made a rule right there in his counter trying to teach me that it works for 30 days, for which he couldn't show any legal documentation. Lastly, I had booked the truck for six hours from the website. He didn't let me have it for more than four hours. I kept requesting that I really needed it as it wouldn't be possible for me to move everything in four hours. But he just didn't care. I was afraid that he might not give the truck to me at all if I kept requesting and so I just had to stop and take it for four hours. I would request Uhaul to look into the matter. The staff was accommodating and helpful in having my truck ready to go and we completed a walk-around inspection. The fuel was 1/2 full and noted as such. Entry to the facility was a little difficult to find due to the small and shallow parking lot.bill S.
