I arrived at your AK Power store in Hawthorne CA a bit after my scheduled time and the sales rep was very rude. I asked if I could return the trailer later than the 3pm return time, and she said no, because it was going right back out again at 3:30. I don't think a 30 minute turn around time is long enough, and not allowing a grace period is bad business. Then, after taking a long time to get me checked in, because of interrupting phone calls, your representative sent me out to find my trailer to inspect it, but it was buried behind other trucks and trailers, NOT ready for pickup. The lot attendant finally came out and moved vehicles and pulled my trailer out so I could inspect it. The trailer was very dirty, with lots of debris in the bed, so my son and I had to find a broom and dustpan and clean it out ourselves! Because of all of this, we were very late getting out and on the road, but still had to rush back to return it on time (CLEAN) 2 days later, and the next renter wasn't even waiting for it. Overall, a horrible rental experience, and I would like a full refund or store credit as compensation. Thank You, Philip Kovach Contract # 24147242

One employee working the desk at a time on a Saturday morning is woefully inefficient. I waited in line for 40 minutes, which is ridiculous. Also, the appliance dolly I had reserved online was unavailable when I was eventually served. Won’t be going back.

The truck had a running light out on the front. The passenger mirror is fixed and pointed to the side of the truck. The lock on the back was not locking closed. The drop box for the keys only said go to uhaul.com with no further instructions. And I had already filled out the information only line with card information and copy of CDL and they still made me go fill out all the information.

I had such a problem with the self-check in trying to created an account. When I got to the location the woman made me call the district manager so he could "OK" the rental since I was supposed to be a self check in. The district manager seemed really annoyed and completely confused why I would even need to call him personally for this issue. He then called the location and was even more annoyed with the worker who had told me to call him and that she should have just rented the vehicle out to me since I did have a reservation. It was just a disorganized mess that made me very late to work.

The u-haul was checkout / check in process was not a pleasant experience. The lady helping me was extremely rude and condescending to myself and other customers around. The actual u-haul was clean but I feel something was wrong with the transmission of the U-Haul. I will be renting again just not from that location.

When I called up my order I requested a appliance dolly, however when I came to the counter the lady ask me to sign and I just ask if I had a dolly included and wanted pads also she acted like it was a problem because she now had to start the process again. She said: I wish you would have ask before not I have to start again! Gee, who cares! She gets paid hourly!!!

The rental lady Anita was very rude from the moment I talked to her on the phone and throughout the entire rental. She also double charged me for a dolly because she said I was late even though I brought it back within 24 hours.

They charge me 71.92 extra for an extra day when I return the vehicle on time as per the contract. The lady to receive my keys seem bothered that I was returning a vehicle to that location and refused to come out and take a look at the vehicle,miles or gas. Also the lady claimed I returned the vehicle 20 min late When I was actually 20 minutes earlier. Now I got a wait who knows how long to get my money back. Horrible experience U-Haul!

This is the second time we have rented a vehicle with U-Haul in the last few weeks and on both occasions we were shortchanged. A few weeks ago we rented a 9' cargo van from the Torrance, CA location on Hawthorne Blvd. I was 32 minutes late in returning the vehicle and was charged for a day (only a 15 minute grace period with a few other cargo vans on the lot). No car rental company would have charged a full extra day. This time we returned the vehicle after having it for just over five hours and driving about 22 miles. We were able to get it into the secure lot yesterday just minutes after closing time but we were asked to place the keys in the drop box. The 15' van had 7/16th of a tank when we picked it up. We did not get gas in the interest of time so that we could try to get the vehicle back before the lot closed. There is absolutely NO doubt that we returned it with at least a needle's width of gas above the 1/4 tank mark. We were charged $35 as opposed to maybe $15 for gas. Our issue is not really with the actual dollar amounts, but with the cost as a percentage of the total rental for both rentals. We basically got hit with a 25% upcharge by both locations. Perhaps this is just part of the U-Haul culture, but it is something that would give us pause in using U-Haul again...
