ANDERSON ALLEYNEPlease ensure to have available, the equipment, that is ordered in the reservation. I added a handtruck to my order, but when i came for my 10a pickup, I was told there were none. And there was no attempt, by the worker, to replace it by offering the handtruck from a nearby location. I was told, "[I] should've come in earlier. Everybody comes for those. it's the end of the month." So, you open at 8a and in 2 hours time, all the handtrucks are taken? If that is the case, when ordering online, a disclaimer should be posted stating availability is on a first come, first serve basis. Other than that, the worker was pleasant enough to move the pick up and return process very smoothly.

On September 13, I made a reservation for a 48-hour rental of a cargo van with a scheduled pickup time of 7:30 PM for September 15, at the U-Haul dealer located on Knapp Street, which is conveniently close to my residence. I received a confirmation email for this reservation. I opted for the mobile pickup option, but when I arrived at the chosen location at the designated time, I encountered a technical error in the application, preventing me from completing the pickup process. I made several attempts to resolve the issue through the app and even contacted U-Haul customer service for assistance. Regrettably, each call I made to the customer service hotline resulted in prolonged wait times of 20 to 25 minutes, and I was subsequently transferred to different departments without any resolution to the problem. Despite being unwell and enduring adverse weather conditions, I persisted in my efforts to pick up the rental vehicle for approximately one hour. Finally, one of the agents at the call center informed me that there was an available cargo van for mobile pickup at another U-Haul location, which was 3,5 miles away. I had to take an Uber to reach this alternate location, which was approximately 4 miles from my residence. However, I encountered yet another issue with the mobile app and experienced difficulty locating the vehicle. It appears I may have inadvertently used the old reservation number or selected the wrong one. Ultimately, it took an additional 30 minutes, with assistance from the call center, to locate the van. What should have been a convenient 7:30 PM pickup near my home ended up occurring around 10:00 PM at a significantly distant location. This delay had a detrimental impact on my work schedule and caused disruptions to my business operations. Furthermore, when it came time to return the van, I faced further challenges. The U-Haul mobile app was consistently non-operational throughout the week, and the customer service hotline repeatedly instructed me to call back in 30 minutes. This created a separate problem when attempting to complete the return process. After persistent efforts, I was finally able to reach a representative who guided me through the return process. I left the vehicle at the original pickup location, secured the key in the lockbox as instructed, and documented the return with photographs. Fortunately, I received a receipt the following morning, confirming the successful return with no issues. In summary, what was initially a $185 rental with a confirmed reservation was marred by system errors, leading to a two-hour delay in pickup at a location significantly farther from my residence. As a result, the mileage and expenses associated with the rental increased. I incurred additional costs for Uber rides to and from the pickup location since I was unable to change the drop-off site. This entire ordeal not only cost me time and money but also disrupted my entire schedule. I am considering renting a cargo van from U-Haul for 48 hours again next weekend. However, I am understandably concerned about the possibility of encountering similar issues. I kindly request your assistance and prompt resolution of this matter to restore my confidence in U-Haul's services.
