Great experience. Very easy and convenient. First location called Dick answered and was very pushy trying to get me to book at his location, which was farther from my home. Ended up calling another location and Michael (very pleasant to work with)- set me up with this location. Even tho it wasn’t at his store. Guys at True Value were great. My rental was ready right when we got there at 8AM. They met me in the parking lot when I returned.

Could not have been better! The staff member made it so easy to rent the truck, took my same-day reservation over the phone, had the truck ready when I got there, and sent the online invoice immediately when they opened in the morning with the correct mileage that I used. And very friendly! Much better than another U-Haul experience I had in another state.

The truck, no fault of the location or management, was a bit old and had over 100,000 miles. That is in direct contrast to our last experience that was a pretty new vehicle and very comfortable. But, it worked for us and served us for the 300 mile move. Can't say enough about the management and effort to help us when making the arrangements for the rental. Very user friendly check in and out at Alexis True Value in Plattsburgh!

I was very surprised to find my contract says I had rented the truck for less than six hours . I had talked with the guy about bringing it back the next day??. I was never asked or told what the duration of the rental period was. Attendant was having real problems with the U-Haul computer system. When i figured out I only had it for a short period I called and had to wait 30 minutes on hold at the 800 number with no estimate as to when I would talk with a person . She said that unless I asked for 24 hours they would just pick a time period less than that. When you are advertising daily rates one would think the default is 24 hours .

I drove the truck for 3 miles and was charged $12 for fuel. My receipt shows total mileage as 3 miles so that is not in question. The clerk acknowledged that there was an error but refused to do anything about it. I will never rent Uhaul again and most definitely will never spend my money at Alix's True Value. This location is not doing right by their customers at all. Does driving 1 mile really take 1 gallon of gas?

I tried to use the mobile app and it was really poorly put together. I signed up at home and created an account. I put my license in as part of it and other info. When I went to pick up the truck with my mobile app had me re-put in my license. It had problems with it though the image was clear. Then it started asking for all different kinds of id as second proof items such as a passport. That's really ridiculous I'm at a U-Haul location trying to pick up a truck why would I have all this other stuff on me. Also, I pre set it up and it never asked me to do anything more at setup it only asked when I went to pick up the truck. Terrible app, terrible experience, really poor design. Fire your product marketing folks they don't know what they are doing.

Man was great!! Plattsburgh NY. But return in Syracuse NY. Had to just drop truck off during to ride home situation. Nobody called to say there was a problem. Not enough gas. I filled it but was told that I should have taken a picture of the fuel gauge. ?? Was I supposed to "top off" the gas tank? Which left me unaware of this situation for almost two weeks. No e-mail. No phone call. I'm sorry but this is a problem. Can someone please look into this and call me? 315-506-2616. Thank you Maureen Ward

This has nothing to do with the location in any way and everything to do with everything above the location itself. We reserved a truck and were upgraded which was amazing but then Saturday we decided to call and see about our reservation since we were told we would get a call about it. When we called we were told we had no truck and would be in a ten foot truck with a small trailer. Which wasn’t going to cut it. Fortunately the local uhaul store saved the day by letting us take a different truck. I don’t think I will ever be renting again from uhaul after this experience.

Alixs true value was not the problem. They were great. The problem was being told I have a 26 foot truck and then the day before being told I only have a 20 foot truck which made me have to make more than one trip. Also it was being called 3 times to tell me different locations I will be picking the truck up and 3 emails with different locations. It was extremely confusing and nerve wracking as if moving isn’t horrible enough.
