Check in guy was not there when i arrived, had to wait 20 minutes. They couldnt check me in because "equipment doesn't meet required parameters" my call and hitch system was rated for well above the trailer we rented and the check in guy agreed. He handled on the phone with corporate. I had to maneuver the trailer to a place on the street, double parked in traffic and noone helped to even get it out of the jammed in space it was stuck in much less put it on the car even tho they were just standing around.

Drop off is too complicated with answering questions and taking photos through your web app. I had already taken photos from my camera app for my own records and the app wouldn't let me use those. I had to walk back to where the truck was parked and do it all over again. And a $20 convenience fee to avoid that is robbery. Inspect your trucks and stop having the customer do the work for you.

I did however end up being able to drop off my rental at this location, and it was swift, efficient, and easy. I think when Uhaul gets it right, they know what they’re doing and are great. Unfortunately that wasn’t my experience when it came to pick up. But this spot was great!

Location and staff were excellent. However, U-Haul did not provide the equipment I had contracted for and which they had guaranteed only 2 hours prior. (9' cargo van for 1-way rental). Franchise owner was accommodating and flexible, but U-Haul had put him into a terrible situation that was out of his control I had to accept a 10' box truck, much more difficult to drive, worse mileage, and not allowed on parkways, all of these were major problems. Shame on you for promising what you cannot deliver. It amounts to lousy customer service. Will avoid U-Haul in the future.

There was nobody in the office when I arrived to drop off the vehicle in my pre-selected location. After wandering around the lot, I found a small shack with someone inside. He told me that I could not return the truck because they had no room for it. When I explained that they should have been expecting my return, he became very aggressive and argumentative with me. Finally, he called the location owner who told him to take the truck in. After that, his mood changed and he found room for the truck. Horrible customer service.

I was directed to the 996 Metropolitan av location after making a reservation at the Washington av office. When I got to the Washington av office the person there (very rude by the way) told me that he didn’t have what I reserved and that I needed to go to the 996 Metropolitan av location and get the truck from there plus that I would’ve a $50 credit for all the inconvenience, (money I never received) and I still had to pay for a cab.

As I parked the vehicle and began my mobile check out - a man came out yelling at me about what i was doing? I said “returning the truck.” And he replied “how do you know we’re going to take it?” THIS WAS THE LOCATION GIVEN TO ME. Then He proceeded to be upset about me using the mobile app. Saying it was taking too long (which I agree) and that he needed the keys to park it. He was very upset that I was taking photos of the truck inside and out as instructed by the app saying “what are you doing?? You know the mileage already!!!!” This guy need to calm down and someone need to update him to the times and better educate him about his place of work.

This location's Sunday rep needs re-training. They were away from their office without a sign or notice for over 30 minutes, and when I called the customer service # to rebook a different location, once the rep arrive, the rep called me a "Liar" several times. The rep added charges to my bill after I declined specific services and then informed me that she did not know how to reverse those charges on the contract. The rep also charged me for equipment that I did not receive, and essentially threw the contract at me and gave me no indication where the truck would be (turns out it was 2 blocks away).

Super small waiting area for check-in (it was in a trailer) that was not clean at all and had one dirty sofa for seating. When it came time to check in, employee could not find my order at first, then once he had, notified me that I couldn't drop it off at a different location as specified with my original request. This cost me additional money to have to get it all the way back to Brooklyn. Please do not have a different drop off location noted if it's not going to be honored by the location. Truck was fine though, but would not pick up from this location again.

The owner threatened to beat me up after I argued with him for leaving the lot. He said he was going home and I told him I need my van so I can move. I got fed up and told him to go home and I cursed at him. He was completely unprofessional. I shouldn’t even have to pay after he almost assaulted me

My original rental was supposed to be at 392 Leonard St, Brooklyn, NY 11211. This is the location I am reviewing. I chose this location out of convenience, and I even went by a few days early to make sure that I’d be able to pick up the van on a Sunday, when the location was closed. There was a sign inside with information about the website, and how at the time of my rental, I could go online and get a key code to open a lock box. There was also a telephone number in case I had trouble. At 11am, on the day of my rental, the location was closed, so I followed the instructions via the app, (and I also tried the website), and both showed a message to wait until 10am when the location was open. Again, it was 11:00 am, the time of my reservation. I called the number on the sign ( which luckily, I had a picture of from my trip there earlier in the week, as it was inside the closed location), and customer service told me there was no way to rent a van at that location because it was closed. I find it ironic that the van I was looking at while she told me this (the van I was supposed to be in) had huge graphics on it about renting by phone! I explained about the time error in the app, and on the website, so she adjusted the time of my rental for some reason. Same error. She moved my reservation to a different, inconvenient location. This was a terrible experience on a day where I needed to be on schedule. Upon my return of the vehicle, I was still required to return it at the time of my original rental, even though U-Haul had caused my rental to be pushed. Again, my review is not for this location at 996 Metropolitan, which was fine, but for the 392 Leonard, and for uhaul’s website and app. I find it hard to believe this hasn’t happened before. It seems odd to inconvenience the customer, rather than contact the owner of the location to get a lock box code.

Our experience was horrible. We went to pick up at the location we chose and received a confirmation for. We got there at 9:25 and our reservation was for 9:30 am and were told our reservation was moved to another location. We take a $15 cab to the next location. A nasty dingy trailer. Took forever because “computer system was acting up”. We finally got the rental with the dashboard lit up. Brake light, transmission light and I don’t know what else. Rental was so smelly that I had to keep the windows open. Window handle was broken also. By that time we had no choice but to take since we were already behind schedule. Horrible experience and would not recommend to anyone.

You can ensure there are enough trucks for the reservations so that what happened to me doesn't happen to others. I was threatened with violence by another customer because U-HAUL asked the attendant to give me the key to a truck that another customer had reserved using the app. He verbally abused me, physically blocked me from exiting the building, and threatened to punch me in the face. I was told I would receive a 30% discount, but I didn't receive that. I would like a full refund. This was a totally unacceptable situation.

After I had checked in with the app, taken photos of the vehicle, submitted all the info, my vehicle disappeared. While I was waiting in line to retrieve keys (which the app says is a skippable step), the vehicle I had just checked in was taken by somebody else. It is unclear who. In her office, the agent at the desk threw papers and other vehicle keys around like the keys to my van were lost. She spoke in mumbled Spanish and I wasn't able to understand most of it. She was the only person working at this office. If anyone gave the keys away to another customer while I was waiting in line for the vehicle I had already checked in, it was this agent. I will avoid this location from now on.

At the pick up location, I encountered Literally the meanest and most rude person I’ve ever dealt with. She left her he location at 2pm knowing that there were vans available and people who had reservations. She was laughing as we left , as she was making fun of us the customers.

I opted for the 24h pickup in my reservation, but the button to "start reservation" never came up on my phone. I was there for 25 minutes refreshing the webpage, then downloaded the app in hopes that would work. Finally I tried changing the reservation, and just selected the same location. This worked, though I was on hold with customer for that whole time. The blankets that I had requested (in my original reservation and the updated one) were not in the vehicle, though my receipt had them on it... still waiting for that to be resolved. The receipt also wants to charge me for 20 miles of transit, though I definitely went under 10 miles. This has not been resolved yet either. Overall, I'm extremely dissatisfied with this experience and hope that others don't suffer the same.

Manager of this location was excellent - gave us a van that made it easier for us to get on the road and parked it back himself. Really wonderful guy who saw us struggling with the app and took care of us himself. (I would not recommend trying to check in by app - no sense of how long it would take and the manager got us ready to go much faster. Seems like we should be able to verify who we are far in advance.)

Horrible experience . We reserved to pick up at 11am , waited for 25 min no one was at the office . So it delayed our time. Then when we open the back of the truck when we arrived to our destination to start loading again. There was a mattress in the truck. Aren’t they suppose to check all vehicles before renting to customers? So we had to drive back and return the mattress before we had to start loading! unbelievable . Horrible experience at this location! Will never recommend .

Have the actual truck that is booked ahead of time available. Absolutely ridiculous to not have what was booked a week ahead of time available. Apparently this has been happening for the past week at this location, and numerous people were turned away. Really threw a wrench in my moving day - ended up having to downgrade and take a cargo van instead of a truck and have a significantly more difficult time moving (plus an extra trip) than I would have if I had been able to get the truck I booked.

Trailer/office is very cramped. App did not work for pick-up/drop-off. Attendant is claiming $150 in damages on the truck while nothing was grazed or touched while using the van, it was returned in pristine condition just as it had been given to me. I am contesting the $150 charge

Make sure the employee says there is a way to return the truck the directions are on the orange drop box outside, he told me when you return the truck drop the keys in the drop box out front, and that is what I did, then I saw the directions.

I have rented with you for a while now. This is the first time I rented at this location. I always return it as given or better to avoid any charges. Today I see a charge for $50 for fuel charges. How can you charge me $50 on 3 gallons when I only drove the van 20miles. Not even 1 gallon used on 20miles. This seems sketchy
