I rented a 5'x8' trailer for a family beach trip. On the way down, at night, I found that the running and brake lights weren't functioning. After walking around the trailer, I found a wire hanging down. It had obviously been poorly/hastily repaired with electrial tape visible. It was unnerving to have the safety of my family jepordized by faulty equipment, but being well on our way with a carload of sleeping children, we continued on and completed our trip without incident. We made our return trip during daylight hours and I notified the store owner of the issue when returning the trailer. The next dissapointment occured when I checked my credit card statement and saw an extra $200+ charge. When I contacted Uhaul via chat I was notified that I had been penalized for dropping the trailer at a different location from where I had picked it up. When questioned, the associate had reported that I had dropped it in Huntersville, NC, which is nearly two hours away (out of the way) from my home. I assume that the store owner failed to record my drop before sending the trailer on another rental(?). Now starts the arduous process of working to get a refund. As a first time uhaul customer, to say I'm unimpressed is an understandment. I plan to look for other options, next trip.

Awful experience from start, hard to recover from that. Awaiting call from management to hopefully resolve issue.

I may try uhaul again if it’s a extreme emergency but 1,09 a mile is really expensive and next time I think i might try and find something cheaper before I rent a uhaul...it cost me 165 all together after I put gas in the truck .

Location was not convenient, but was the only location close enough to pick up. It was dark at pick up so not able to look inside; the next day I cleaned out empty cans and trash. Check engine light came on after driving 10 miles.
