The online experience is poor. My rental location was switched to another location 30 miles away after I had a confirmation for this site. The truck I rented was a piece of junk. For 250 for a day I shouldn't have to fight the front end as the truck was all over the road and did not feel like it was running right. Nothing to improve. I have rented at other locations and Bill's was the best. Process was easy and while two of the ten hooked up the trailer for me another completed paperwork. In and out quickly. My experience with U-Haul in general was terrific. From online reservation, pre-check in to receiving my final bill, everything was great. My experience with Bill's Service Center was nothing short of exceptional. Bob was very gracious and thorough when I picked up the vehicle early on a Monday morning. Who likes Mondays, right? He went over the reservation to confirm everything with me, then we went to the vehicle where we confirmed the mileage and did a walk around looking for any previous damage and then he pointed out some features of the vehicle that I was unfamiliar with. I highly recommend U-Haul and Bill's Service Center and I will use them again when the need arises. Thank you to all, great job everyone!Anthony K.

Bill's Service Center 27 US-46, Hackettstown, NJ 07840 Don't rent from this location. A truck that I was quoted for renting at 19,95 $I, cost me 46,34 $, more than double that, and the employee was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and worse. I rented a vehicle to move a large coffee table, from a destination 5,4 miles, per GPS, from the UHaul pickup shop, to a destination that was on the way BACK to the same, right on the same highway, so the miles would be no more than 11miles. The person that attended to my pickup and return of the vehicle, was named Bob. At pick up, he gave me the form that noted, he said, how many miles were on the vehicle. He did not inspect the vehicle with me, as every other Uhaul rep has done in my many times using UHaul over the decades, in California and NJ. So I inspected the vehicle myself, inside and out for any existing scratches or dents. There were none. It wasn't until I was at the first stop destination, 5,4 miles, that I noticed the odometer read many miles more than what was on the paper given to me at the desk. I dropped the table off, and returned the pickup all within about 20 minuets. There would not have been time to have driven the miles on the odometer, compared to the mileage Bob had put on the form. When I returned, even said, "Back so soon!". I informed him of all the above, pointing out that as he'd also noted, my time with the vehicle was so short, I could not POSSIBLY have driven the miles I'd be charged for re the odometer, compared to his notation of much, much lower miles on Odometer. He stated that I should have checked it before leaving. True, but as I have used UHaul so many times, and never had an issue like this, I did not notice it until I had driven away, making it "too late" according to him. Further, he did not accompany the customer, likely because it was raining, in accordance to my experience with UHaul, for the vehicle look over. Without this, the UHaul employee could claim, upon return of the vehicle, that any pre-existing scratches, dents, or mileage, were incurred by that customer! So after much debate over the lower mileage he'd put down, compared to the Odometer mileage, my pointing out to him multiple times, that I could not POSSIBLY have driven those miles and returned the vehicle so fast, he said he'd go check the vehicle odometer. Bob opened the door as another customer was approaching the entrance, stopped and attended to THAT customer leaving me, waiting there. It was extremely unprofessional, and intentional, as he clearly should have finished with the customer that was THERE, and closing out first. I said nothing, and waited. He finally walked out to the vehicle, then returned as asked me how many miles I'd driven. I told him, 11 miles,(as I'd told him and entered in my online check-in, and as confirmed by GPS. He said that the distance was 7,5 miles each way, and not 5.4, despite the GPS proof right in my hands. He said, "I can show you photos to prove the distance". I asked, "Photos of what?" He snapped, "Photos of odometer readings". I replied, that showing still photos of odometers contributes nothing to his argument, as, they are... still photos of odometers, while my GPS, showed the ACTUAL distance of the ACTUAL TRIP. But, he continued to be rude, even claiming that it was ME that was dishonest, despite me having GLOBAL GPS proof, and he billed me for 15 miles. This, along with multiple other small charges, taxes, brought the cost to over double the fee quoted. The experience was horrible. This man Bob, should not be working with people, The way he handled HIS MISTAKE regarding HIS WRONG recording of the odometer miles, could have been, and SHOULD have been, handled professionally, and with dignity. Instead, he even resorted to verbal insults. I am an award winning teacher, elected member of my HOA board, recognized by the police department of my last address, as having contributed greatly to exposing 2 white collar real estate criminals in the process of fraud, volunteer for animal shelters, and am teased for my honesty... A cashier forgot to ring something up? I point it out. Change given for a larger bill than I gave? I tell them. So, on top of all else regarding Bob's outrageous handling of HIS mistake, he maintained his rude composure, hurling insults, calling me dishonest, as I walked out the door. Do not deal with this Uhaul provider.Cecilia L.
As I was close to returning the truck, a family emergency arose and I needed to get to the hospital within 10 minutes. The gentleman at the counter was extremely kind and told me I could just go. Bills was great, but my original reservation was at johns in newton and they where not prepared for my online check in and cost me two hours. A lady named Brittany hitchenson (not sure if that's spelt correctly) helped me find a truck and was very nice and even checked multiple truck sizes and locations. Good customer service, I am pretty sure I am due for a fifty dollar refund for the first place not having the truck readyandrew R.

Equipment had old gum/breath mints in the door that were stick y and the inside of the truck was some papers left from the last person. The truck had loud squeaky / squealing brakes. I would not recommend U-Haul in general. It took me almost an hour just to check in and get the code for the lock box. I called customer service three times and I was transferred to "customer service" each time which was actually the beginning prompts. No one was helpful and all I got was attitude from each one. Terrible customer service. This isn't my only bad experience with U-Haul but it will be my last.Thomas N.

I rented a pick up for the day . When I picked it up the attendant did not do s walk around with me ? I didn't think anything of it . My wife noticed later in the day , that there was a dent in the cargo door . When I brought it back , Bob the attendant who did the walk through with me in the morning did it again with me and didn't say anything ? Which o thought was no big deal . Gives me a receipt for 68,00 $ and we leave . Very happy with him and the service . He calls me back and says the truck has a dent in it , I told him that did happen while I had the truck . He said ok ,and I reminded him that he did not even do a walk around with me in the morning !! He is lair and we will not pay that bill and I will never use u haul again !!THOMAS M B.

Everything was fine except for the checkin process. I waited for over half an hour for the verification process to complete. I watched other customers come and go while I waited. During that time I texted several times and never received a reply. I also called and waited on hold for over 20 minutes. An actual representative never came on. I called this location twice with questions and the service rep seemed like I was bothering him. The online pick-up process didn't work well, specifically scanning the back of my license.
