This is my first negative experience with Uhaul. I've been slowly moving from Dallas to Eastland for the last year and a half. The woman who opened my contract on 4/23/22 was very professional & helpful, I wish I had asked for her name. My husband and I hooked up the rental ourselves. No one came to verify proper hookup. (It was hours later when I saw the text about verifying the equipment, and when I clicked the link it had expired.) We have a lot of experience with trailers, but for someone who's new to towing and hooking up trailers, this could've been a dangerous moment had the unit not been hooked up properly. Secondly, those trailers are pretty heavy, we rented the covered 6x12. Lifting a trailer tongue off the ground and pulling it forward to attach to the ball, that's more than most people can manage by themselves. To future renters, make sure you bring someone who can help you, or bring a jack. I typically pick up the rental in Dallas, and a rep always comes out to help hookup and ensure everything is functioning properly. I assume this is a Uhaul policy. We checked tire pressure and brake fluid, and all 4 tires needed air. Everything else about the unit was fine, it was clean. I asked for a 2 day contract (wishful thinking on my part HAHA!), and after those two days, I realized I needed more time. I called Eastland Food Mart, the same woman who opened my contract answered, and she was able to add two more days for me. I called again on the 4th day and asked for 2 more days. This time a different woman answered, and she was unsure how to update the contract, she asked me to wait while she called her superior for directions. She called me back within 30 minutes and told me not to worry, to bring the uhaul back when we were done and we would settle the bill then. As a courtesy, I called again on the 6th day (4/28) to ask for more days, and this time a man answered. He told me to come to the store to discuss the matter. I explained, I'm still moving, I'm 130 miles away from Eastland, I need to extend the rental. He told me to bring the uhaul back when I'm done. After this conversation, I stopped calling every 2 days to update Eastland Food Mart. Finally, after 12 long days of moving, we made our way from Dallas to Eastland to drop off the uhaul. We were at Eastland Food Mart between 4:30-4:45pm on Wednesday 5/4/22, (not that anyone else is going to care, but Wednesday Night church was at 6:30pm, and I was not about to be late to church because of this!) we unhooked the trailer ourselves, and went inside to pay. The man at the counter took one look at my paperwork and said "You need to take it to Mike's Wrecker," which is about 6 miles from Eastland Food Mart, and its southwest of the direction we needed to go to get back to Dallas. I responded, "I picked it up here, why do I have to take it over to Mike's?" He told me they didn't have space for it, and I was supposed to call before dropping it off. What?! If he wanted me to call before drop-off, I most certainly would have! But in 3 separate calls, all of the employees I spoke to at Eastland Food Mart had assured me to bring it back to their location when we were done. Honestly, I was upset! I was ready to re-hook the trailer up and go to Mike's Wrecker in hopes that whoever was at that location would be helpful! My husband brought me to reality: if we go over to Mike's, were going to be late for church, and more importantly, we picked it at Eastland Food Mart, not at Mike's! Thirdly, I had been calling every two days and they kept saying "bring it back when you're done." Eastland Food Mart had plenty of room! We neatly parked the rental next to the others of similar size without blocking driveways or any other rentals. Uhaul emailed the invoice Monday 5/9/22, and it shows I didn't return it until 5/5/22 9PM, so there's an extra day on my bill. Since I wasn't using the app, like I have in the past, I probably won't be able to prove it. Looking back, I should've taken the time to re-download the uhaul app, apparently, I should've handled this with artificial intelligence instead of human beings, which is frustrating to realize, but I guess that's the reality of the world we live in these days. 1/5 stars.

It might be a general issue with uhaul, however the lights connector harness was to short to connect to our vehicle so we weren't able to use lights during towing. You should specify, on your website, renters need to have harness wiring extensions available for use of blinkers and lights.

The guy was supposed to attach the trailer to my truck and he put it on and asked me if I could finish loading it on because he didn't know how to do it. I said I m surprised that the company didn't train him on how to do it. I was leaving and found out he didn't screw it down all the way. Get someone who knows what they are doing
