This location was absolutely disgusting, no customer service skills, the truck was stuck in ice and snow and nothing had been plowed. The property was also dangerously icy and I'm 9 months pregnant. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

My worst experience ever with uhaul at this location.Employees had no experience with reservations..I had to go outside and reserve myself and then had to wait 45 minutes for them to confirm my reservation..I felt harassed and uncomfortable with this experience..I will never use this location again.

I went in looking for a 20 foot truck. This place told me that no one had a 20 foot truck and I would have to rent a 15 foot. The next day I was bringing my stuff to a storage unit and drove past another uhaul company that had the 20 foot. I went inside and that gentleman said he had the truck since the 13th. The place in monticello took advantage of me and lied just to get me to rent his truck and waste my money and time. His truck was filthy and had drug baggies in it, that inhaled to clean prior to use. I will not be using uhaul to get my stuff out of storage. And I am going to discourage everyone from using it as well

Worst experience ever! Truck went dead. When we called the store was told he does not "give a Sh**" to call 800 #. Service said they didn't have anyone available to wait until the morning. After I had a fit they sent some one three hours later. I am still waiting for my refund!!

Location was not requested site,18 miles further away. Vehicle was filthy (cab/bed/outside/tail/etc), gas was not Full. Took vehicle as was the only truck on site in Monticello. The vehicle had 43K miles, but had bad sway in driving and shock/suspension was poor. I've driven many truck=s (auto and manual) and this was on the low end scale for quality. Showed to Rich and Paula @ return site and they confirmed poor condition.. I took the $28 Insurance as was advised for accident/damage coverage. Was informed @ Monroe location, I could have called & had swapped, (this wasn't explained @ Rental Pick Up location. Would never again use Monticello NY. I have photos of vehicle.

We read the odometer when we received the truck , but did not read the miles out listed on the estimate contract. When we read the miles out on the contract they were less than the actual miles on the odometer and we ended being charged for 30 miles more than we used

Well that location is surrounded by drugs and addictsalike..they are under staffed so it took me over an hour to be driving down the road

Equipment should have been cleaner and there is no separate entrance for truck rentals also no restroom facility available even though food and drink is sold there, which is a New York State Law. Seems the people working for the business were more interested in taking money for scratch offs etc. than waiting on customers for gas and those trying to rent a truck. One person was very rude and condescending giving you the impression he did not have the time to wait on you.

Drop off was easy. We dropped off before official hours and they told us that we would receive an email with the receipt attached. Additional mileage (we went over about 8 miles) would be billed and it was...correctly! No problems at all. It probably helped that I took pictures of everything and they knew that as well!

To busy with Gas, and food customers I explained my situation and got no where. Nighter one of the 2 staff members could speak English clearly I filled gas tank up, paid my bill in full I left unhappy and frustrated

They charged me $70 for insurance that I did not want. Told me they couldn't change the contact, but, of be reimbursed when I arrived at my drop off location. Now I have to file a claim with uhaul, which is becoming a nightmare in its self. Hold times on the phone are rediculous!

Provide a clean vehicle, perform routine maintenance, provide better customer service. This was the worst experience I have ever had with Uhaul, the vehicle was dirty in the front and back, the check engine light was on, and my experience at the rental location was less than acceptable.

The Uhaul I got had a tire maintenance light on. I let the owners know and they just checked the paperwork and confirmed it was on when they checked the van in. I let them know that could hurt the gas mileage I get and they offered to give me .35 to go put air in the tires.

I confirmed the day before and was told my equipment would be where it’s supposed to be for when I needed it. The night before around 430pm I received a text (not a phone call like I requested) telling me the reservation was moved to another location for a different time that didn’t work for me. After arguing with UHAUL itself the found me something to pick up that night. The location pickup is a mess. Got to the location and had to wait 45 minutes to get the truck and mind you nobody else was there for any UHAUL related business. After getting the keys I had to go find the truck in the dark parking lot out back which is on the edge of the ghetto. Truck was covered in snow, doors where frozen shut, truck was dirty and barely any fuel. Truck said just over 1/2 tank and it was more like 1/4 tank. Upon return of the truck to a different location nobody was there to turn the truck into. I later received and email with my receipt. The receipt has a cleaning charge of $25 for cleaning. The truck was a mess when I received. I want my cleaning charge back. It’s only fair after the hassle I had to deal with.

Hello, I need to express my horrible experience with U-Haul,since we were absolutely appalled and shocked after spending over $2,000 on a 26ft truck and tow dolly (plus $350 in gas). I was surprised to see that there was no veteran's discount but I was happy with one month free storage, so we decided to give your company our business rather than go elsewhere that offers a veteran's discount. I initially ordered a 15ft' truck and tow dolly to be picked up in Middletown, NY on 11/17. I then called Middletown, upgraded my truck to a 26ft and changed the truck pick up day to 11/16. I made sure the person I spoke with knew we would be picking up the tow dolly on Friday afternoon, as initially ordered. Wed night 11/15 I received a text saying that we are to pick up the truck in Monticello (40 minutes total out of the way) when I called customer service I was just told that the location had changed and that was that. On Thurs, 11/16 I waited for about an hr at the pick up location ( a gas station) in Monticello with my toddler and fiance because of an apparent computer issue with no place to sit and wait while customers squeezed by the small counter area. We were then asked if we wanted the $75 insurance. After waiting that long in an uncomfortable setting and having a hard time understanding the guy helping us due to a heavy accent, we told him we would just get the insurance in Middletown the next day when we picked up our tow dolly. On Fri, 11/17 we received a call at 10:30AM telling us our tow dolly had been cancelled and our reservation was booted out of the system and we would have to call corporate to fix it. We explained to the agent that the dolly was supposed to be picked up Fri afternoon on our way out of the state at 2:30, but she still had us call corporate. The agent I talked to fixed the situation, however she made the pick up time 1:00pm, when I told her it needed to be 2:30 since that's when my mother would be home from work and we had to say our goodbyes before we moved from NY to NC. She said, "well you are already on this ice with the manager in Middletown, so I wouldn't push it." After we hung up with her, we called Middletown right away and they said 2:30 was fine. We arrived in Middletown and were then told that we had to get the insurance 15 minutes after picking up the truck the day before. I called and spoke to two corporate agents that just apologized. When I explained that we were never told this by the guy at the gas station, nor did it say this in the contract, one agent said that she only knows this policy because she works there. So we were forced to drive from NY to NC with no insurance. It is hard enough to try and pack up a house with a toddler, two cats, and a dog and move 11.5 hours...U-haul should have made this easier for us, but instead an enormous amount of stress was caused and too much time wasted. We will not be using U-Haul when we move from our storage to our new home. Thank you for yo

This was the worst rental place. First it is a convenient store not a rental place. The counter person would stop every time to ring-up every person that had a $1 lotto ticket a smooth rental took 45 min. The real icing on the cake after 20min waiting my wife asked to use the bathroom they refused saying they don't have a bath for customers. Then I reminded them that its against state law if they serve food not to have a bath for customer in tern the agent said they closed it because the customers make it dirty and told my wife to go use the bath down the block at the bus station. If this was not the only place that had the truck within 50 miles we would have went somewhere else. If i could give them worst than poor rating i would.

I read the reviews from this pick up location, mostly negative and became concerned. It is Monticello and Monticello does not have the best reputation but we all know that. The service I received was prompt and courteous, what more could I ask for.
