Previous renter left stained cardboard, sand and plastic wrap in the van, simple to have done but didn't clean up. I drove 25 km and topping up needed 10 L which equates to 40 L/100 km or 7 mpg (imperial) which a van should do better. It takes awhile before a gas gauge moves off full, I suspect the previous renter either didn't fill up completely or drove a short distance and didn't put any more gas in. Not U-Haul's fault, there are just inconsiderate people out there. I filled the tank, swept out the van, cleaned the garbage, and left the van clean for the next renter.Tony W.

Front window handle was broken and just â€œrestingâ€ in place. The gear grip in the handle is stripped and so the window went down but not up and no one told me to not touch it so because the windows were fogged up when I first got in of course I rolled down the window and found it didn't roll up-! And the handle was basically off. After driving for fifteen minutes with the window down and finding it too cold I drove back to the pick up site to complain after I figured I couldn't roll it up - but after wasting my time to drive back (I tried to call first but no one answered the phone) the store operator offers no help at all and said they couldn't do anything and offered no alternative - they didn't even offer any types of discount for the mileage I wasted going back to the store since I couldn't get anyone in the phone. In the end I had to use it so drove around in cold weather with the window open for the four hours I had it for :-( :-( I brought back the moving truck one hour before it was due with proper gas (I overfilled it a bit) and one hour early. Seconds after the store operator closedthe account I realized I left my car keys at home - which was only a five minute drive away. I asked if I could use the truck thet I overfilled with gas and still had one hour left before due and she said no- she couldn't help because she closed the rental. Ok I understand thatâ€¦ but again there was no offer to help. I was told here was nothing she could do. I would've been happy to even pay for another one hour rental which I know would've been available since my due time was still not for another hour. But still no offer, no empathy was offered. Customer service equaled minus 0 on this one. U-haul needs to do better!Benjamin C.

From the moment we arrived at this location and throughout our rental, we were disappointed with our experience. We'd rented moving blankets, which were unavailable at time of pick up. We then wasted over an hour sourcing moving blankets from other U-Haul locations in the area. When we got to our truck it looked like it hadn't been seen by representatives of the company in months. The cab was filthy and full of garbage including used masks and fast food wrappers. The back of the truck was also filthy and full of styrofoam, which we had to spend time sweeping out. Due to the delay in starting our rental, we were forced to request an extension mid-rental. At this time we tried calling the location we'd picked it up from, but there was no answer. It was then that we went online and discovered its many negative reviews, many of which highlighting that there were a number of phone numbers listed for the location that didn't seem to work. We finally connected with a U-Haul representative over the phone, whom advised us that another family had the truck booked at exactly the time we were scheduled to drop it off. When we said we could not get it back in time, the representative gave us the go-ahead, but failed to mention anything about a separate booking charge nor did they use that time to arrange an alternative for, nor at the very least notify the next family. At our previously scheduled drop off time, the employee at the pick up/drop off location called and yelled at us that another family was there to pick up the truck. I told her we'd tried to get through to let her know in advance and that we'd connected directly with a U-Haul agent when we weren't successful. There was a language barrier, and she didn't pause to let me explain. We were penalized financially, the family was not taken care of by the company, and the pick up location was not advised nor available throughout our rental.Torin B.

U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer from 1-800-468-4285 called me at 12:26PM Saturday January 8th, 2022 to reconfirm my payment information for their billing department. I had to say my full credit card information over the phone. I had already gave my credit card info at 2889 Grandview Hwy #1, Vancouver, BC V5M 2E1. However around 1:11pm Saturday Jan 8th 2022, I was notified there has been a fraud $3 174,08 charge on my credit for Walmart Canada Inc. which I did not make this purchase. This is the only time I have given my credit card info over the phone. I highly suspect that U-haul has a security issue. Luckily, the fraud charge did not go through. I will not be using U-Haul again due to this. And it's a security risk asking credit card information over the phone. I hope this will be investigated and taken seriously.ERH-AN P.

The tires had no threads it snowed in Vancouver but even with plowed roads the tires would not get traction, we got stuck 3 times and almost got into accidents due to no traction. We did not even make another trip to move this was a complete waste of money had to get a different u haul from marine main branch so we could not risk our life's having to move.Jacob T.
No trucks available for one way service so I had to return mine to the original dealer. This was a surprise to the vendor when I dropped it offs. Also was informed that there was a return trip option that would have saved me money. All in all, I would never recommend or ever use U haul again. The first tiime i rented on the 17 th a young man assisted me with awesome customer service. The 2nd time was not such a pleasant experience. The young lady was rude and made it quite clear what was and wasn't her job. Got quite snippy right away and her dog is very protective. I will recommend to friends but with a warning of caution if this woman is serving you and mind the dog which comes out of nowhere. The dog even followed me to the exit barking.mark D.

The location to pick up and drop off was fine. The online reviews really don't seem fair to the woman working there. She was nice to me and friendly. Usually rental cars are on a lot with the office, and you can go over the vehicle with the agentâ€¦ I would feel more comfortable doing it that way, so I wouldn't potentially be blamed for damage I didn't do. Another benefit would be that a lot person could clean the vehicles between use. Overall though it was fine. The van was well maintained mechanically, and I was confident driving it.GEOFFREY I.

Horrible service. I rented a truck and 2 dollies because I was doing the moving alone, but when I arrived they told me that they don't rent dollies there, and asked me to go to a store nearby to rent or buy one.... I complained and they say that dollies are subject to availability. I had to go (with the rented truck) all the way to richmond to rent a dolly. In my case I couldn't move the furniture by myself without that. Even if the dolly doesn't look important, I expect the full order to be fullfilled, or at least I get notification before so I can do something about it.Francisco L.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience with UHaul at this location. I'd read so many negative reviews that I was pretty sure that I would show up and the place would be late opening, the person serving me would be rude, their dog would frighten me and my rental would be dirty and not parked where I was told it would be. Thankfully, I experienced none of what I feared. The lady that served me was on time, she was pleasant to deal with and helpful, her dog was very friendly with me, and my rental was clean and exactly where I was told it would be.Warren G.

My partner and I moved together, I was trying to get her name added to the documents for documentation and expense claim purposes and they were very, very unhelpful. Now I am trying to go through customer services and they say they can't change/add any names once the return had been completed. The main problem here is I requested a pickup location that was walking distance away from me. I then received an email within 24 hours of booking that my location is at Grandview hwy. I was utterly disappointed as this ruined my original plans for moving.. luckily my pickup was a day before to readjust accordingly. But this is where it begins, the rep does not do a walk through with me, and on the pickup login experience I can only upload 1 photo! The inside of the van was dirty! And the outside of the van was dirty also, although this could've been from the raining weather. Now mind you I've entered what details I could in the check out process on the web. Once I started the vehicle it immediately had electrical problems with the turn signals! On the dash it would blink rapidly, and then for a moment go back to normal blinking indicator speeds... It wasn't until I had a buddy with me who informed me the back up lights were not working properly!!! Of course If a rep was there to check all signals with me this could have been avoided!! Now under this contract it's assumed I'm too replace any light!! There was serious issues with this van and I'm really disappointedChris F.

Parking was extremely challenging. When I arrived and presented my ID, I was told that I should have done this online. As far as I knew, the check-in was optional, plus this was not the original location I booked at. Not being as familiar with the neighbourhood, when they showed me the handwritten/scrolled map of where the truck 'might' be parked, it wasn't completely clear. I drove around for about 20-30 minutes looking for the truck. Judging by the fact that they didn't know the exact location of the truck (I was shown on the map that it could be in a couple different places), I wasn't 100 % confident that anyone had even checked the vehicle or sanitized it, which is especially important in the world we live in right now. I would not choose to return to this location.kevin W.
The van was a bit dirty but the local service was good. However the u haul online tools are terrible. I rented a van for Thursday into Friday and then again for Sunday. Both times i was told to check-in online and both times after completing the check-in form I received a message to say there was a problem at u hauls end and it had been logged. Then on Sunday night I was to use my mobile device to complete the online equipment return report or I could choose to have the return verified the next day for an additional $20.00. As with the online check-in the system did not work resulting in an extra $20 charge. As well I was sent a receipt for $55 less than I paid for the Thursday / Friday van. Lastly some of the documents sent from U Haul talk about Miles. Canada has been using the metric system since the mid 70s. Again the local service was fine but the corporate service needs to be much better.David Q.

The van's auto door locking system was totally haywire, doors constantly kept locking. Location of the parked truck was 2 blocks from the store & in the wrong spot, we looked 10 minutes to find it on another block. You are actually stealing street parking for a commercial venture.MARK D.

U Haul changed my pickup location to another one because the truck I requested was available there. That is fair and I appreciated it. What I didn't appreciate was that the location didn't offer blankets, the ones you use to protect your furniture. I had specified 2 dozens of those and I was told, the day of the pickup, that I had nothing. I don't know if people at U-Haul think that I have the luxury of rescheduling or postponing a move out / move in but that's not easy. I had no choice but to go through without the blankets. So now I have scratches on every piece of furniture that was on that truck. The last thing is that the mobile checkin is a total lie and you should just stop offering that. I always have to go in the location and come in contact with people. If it is not supported in Canada, just don't offer it.TOMAS T.

Customer service at the location was fine. However, I arranged my rental through the uhaul website to include a furniture dolly and 10 packing blankets. I show up on moving day and am informed at the pickup location that they do not carry dolly's or packing blankets. Why does the online checkout allow customers to add those items to their cart for locations that do not carry them? That's a big problem that needs to be resolved.Alexander H.

The following morning at 7 am my reservation was arbitrarily changed to 230 pm and a different location. I get it you are busy but your system should only confirm booking when there is availability. There was absolutely no parking in the parking lot, so we found the closest street parking (50m away - around other uhaul trucks) and she yelled at us saying we need to park in the exact spot, even though all spots were physically taken by other vehicles. We were very respectful and offered to move the van; however she started to speak very rudely to us in the parking lot. We ended up driving around the block for several minutes until a parking spot opened up in the parking lot. Overall the process was straight forward and easy, however we experienced unnecessary, awful customer service from the uhaul representative. My rental was automatically transferred from a mobile pick up 15 minutes closer to me to a check-in pick up farther away. I reserved a truck originally for pickup 8am but because of the switch I couldn't get it until 9am. At 9am once I got the keys I had to walk 2 blocks away to the truck and do the check in procedures. At the last step where I was trying to confirm the mileage and fuel level I put the key in and the battery was dead. I had to walk back to the location and restart the process. The location was also not well labelled as a U-Haul pick up especially when the trucks are parked down the street. The van I got bad a fairly chewed steering wheel and a rip in the leather on one of the seats. Overall it cost me 1 hour of a 4 hour elevator window at my apartment complex and added a lot of stress to my day.MITCHELL A.

Don't bother trying to phone this location, they don't answer. Also, the system will let you book dolly's and furniture pads but they apparently don't have them there. This can complete mess up your plans for a quick move based on not having dolly's, I would never go back to this location.James Y.

There was some moving equipment available to rent at the pickup location but it was not kept within sight so I didn't know there was a dolly I could've gotten to make my move easier! Looking at other reviews I can at least say the van was in the parking lot. However the parking lots is quite small and it wasn't particularly well parked. I would say the issue with this location is the somewhat aggressive unleashed dog in the store. She allowed it to follow us in the parking lot and when I raised my arms to while looking at something the dog barked and charged at me. It was honestly terrifying. Rude business owner, vehicles are rarely parked on site and can be up to 2 blocks or more away. I inquired where the truck I was about to rent via online check in was, she stated â€œjust down the streetâ€. Which street? How far? It wasn't even the truck I was checking in for, she had already changed my reservation and handed me the key to a truck that was further away, say it's just down the street and that it was not the first one but the second one. did not provide an actual location or name of the street it was on. When doing self check in. You need to locate the vehicle somewhere within the 2-3 block radius of the shop. Then you need to walk to the shop to get the key and then back to the vehicle. Well - I had sticker shock. The rate I expected changed apparently into my favour but was not fully informed. I would of expected Uhaul to frontload info so that I was aware of the changes, if so it would of been better to aquire a new rental vs keep same one for 2 days. If going over 150 kms in your rental ensure to do cost comparison for one day rentals if needed for 2 days.Darryl F.
