I called ahead to explain that I had already paid for the trailer including the insurance and that friends were picking up the trailer. Unfortunately the person in charge told my friend that I didn't need insurance on the trailer since I had it on the truck! ( Incorrect) So he deleted my insurance! I had to take the trailer to another location the next day on our way to our destination to cancel the contract and get a new one with insurance! Very frustrating!! But I wish to give an A+ to S and S Auto of Willits, CA for working with myself and UHaul to fix this mess!! It took an hour and delayed our departure but I felt the need to have insurance for our 1,000 mile trip! S and S Auto was amazing!

The local U-Haul location was okay. It just hasn't been in this business for long enough to have any real standing. This location is primarily an auto repair shop and there is only sparse evidence that U-Haul is even there. The real story about my rental experience has to do with the inadequate support I received from the U-Haul central office. I had set up a rental with a different local office. That fell through when the local office had 2 U-Haul 15-ft vans break down. I was then assigned to the U-Haul central office. I have no idea where they are. I do know that they first tried to book me a 15-ft rental. That was quickly cancelled when it turned out there was no 15-ft truck available to rent. Then, it really looked like a 20-ft van was lined up. I was informed that the 20-ft van would be waiting for me at the U-Haul location in Hidden Valley Lake, CA. I called that location to verify and was told they had no trucks of any size available to rent. It turned out the 20-ft van U-Haul thought was there had be rented out on a one-way rental out of town. The only reason that U-Haul didn't know about the 20-ft U-Haul being unavailable was because they have no procedure for verifying with the local U-Haul stores. So far, it appears that only the renters lose big-time when reservations are misplaced. At this point, time was getting short, and a 26-ft U-Haul was found at a local location. The U-Haul office did set up the reservation for the 26-ft U-Haul. I was out of options, so I took it. I had no time left and had a household to move. That did work out but did not leave me feeling well served. It seems clear that the structure of the communication system that U-Haul has in place is rather dysfunctional. I was promised a truck that was completely unavailable. I had to call the U-Haul store to confirm that the U-Haul contract I had sent via email was worthless. Shouldn't someone at U-Haul have taken a couple of minutes to verify the location of a truck they were setting up for a customer to rent? I think so, but the powers-that-be at U-Haul apparently don't. I also get the impression that their central office is under manned. I always feel better dealing with the local dealers who know me and appreciate me for being a reliable customer. All the mistakes that were made that resulted in my frustration and loss of respect for U-Haul came from the U-Haul office, not the local agents. Please get your act together. Maybe fire some of the lethargic officers responsible for all of the major decisions that determine what direction this company will take. Good luck, you are going to need it.

We had to pick up this rental truck 25 mins from where we requested the pickup. We then also had to drive that 25 mins each way to pick up our own vehicle. Not acceptable!

Joel at Gustafson Enterprise Collision Center provided the best possible service to me as I engaged in renting equipment for a 2,000-mile one-way trip. He was courteous, cheerful, conscientious, knowledgeable,and top-notch in all aspects of our interaction. His Area Field Manager, Forrest Garrett, also was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!!

This business finds ways to charge me everytime I drop off truck. It is for this reason I will NEVER use U-haul again. Once again this man charged me for extra miles that I didn't want to drive to this location. I was given 60 extra miles but he charged me $76 dollars anyway

The location was closed upon our arrival. We were earlier than the scheduled time. The directions for the return were displayed at the location. It explained how to drop the truck via online and a key box to leave the key. I usually like to handle business like his with a live person, but I do understand we are now in the age of electronics and most things are done online. The directions were precise and clear and the drop off was completed.
