This place was horrible to rent from. There was staff that looked homeless sleeping in the common seating area. The vehicle was in HORRIBLE condition. Not road safe at all, the horn would go off if you put pressure on the steering wheel. Vehicle was dirty inside. The location entry and exit ramp shouldn't be legal in its current set up condition either. And the cherry on top was the vehicle had ZERO gas. I was given a "discount" but I had to return it with the tank at 1/4. Very unprofessional. Get an employee to fill the tank. Owner was nice, but clearly lazy and dirty. I would never recommend this location to anyone. And would actually like to file a complaint

CHRISTOPHER FI will be calling the U-Haul customer service line today to resolve this issue further, but the U-Haul experience was nothing like I have ever experienced before. I have rented many trucks from U-Haul with no problems, but I was given a defective truck with a broken steering column that was incredibly dirty and had a broken hitch electrical system. I should not have been allowed to take that truck on the road because it was not safe. I was told when arriving that the truck was available but my rented Auto Transport in dolly was not. I had to take the truck to a neighborhood U-Haul to pick up the auto transport which was a complete mess. They were incredibly unprofessional and yelled at me when I refuse to take the auto transport that was not Street legal. The vehicle had straps that were Rusty and torn, a lighting system that did not work, and a flat tire on the back left driver side Tire. They even attempted to get me off the property with the new car and transport before I received the new contract because they had to swap out the current truck that I brought with a new one who had a working electrical hitch connection. When I refuse to leave without the contract indicating that I was the legal driver of the truck, they yelled at me and I had to wait until the manager who is doing the U-Haul stuff came out of the bathroom to finish the paperwork. The auto transport they gave me was not legal or safe to go on the road. The neighborhood U-Haul was also an auto body shop, and they knew very well that it was not legal and they still let me go on the road. The next morning the tire was completely flat after they had put some air in it saying that I shouldn't worry, but I had to call roadside assistance to get the tire replaced. Additionally, there was also broken glass shards all in the cabin of the vehicle because the window must have been replaced before I had rented it.

The lot is not well maintained area compared to other locations we rent . Overall wery stressful experience dealing with this location.

Jeremy GThey were late to open the day I came to check the vehicle out. I had rented a dolly and they didn't have it. I paid for a mattress cover and sofa cover and they didn't give them to me, and said if I wanted them I'd have to pay for them (even though I had already paid online for them.) I returned the truck a day early, and they didn't check me in until the next day which ended up charging me more than I should have been charged for.
Marie DNot professional at all. It was like walking into a hot mess. Not clean, the small of food, as if it was a dice restaurant. People sitting around eating. The trailer was in a dirt lot. Thankfully it was not raining. The reservation was messed up- I was given a trailer number to go out and get my own trailer, but the Number they gave me was wrong- so we had to start over. Will never rent from them again
Robert MThe tow dolly I rented was missing a bolt on the ratchet strap that secures the tire of the car getting towed. Because of this and the movement of the car, the strap came loose and completely came off the tire. Luckily it didn't make much of a difference on my drive but something bad could have happened if I hit a large bump or had to swerve.

Muammer ADo not hire the helpers U-Haul 'recommends' online no matter how many 'stars' a company gets. Not only does U-Haul take a big cut, it encourages 5-star ratings by giving a $5 discount after a trailer or truck is loaded (not after you arrive to find out how things fared). So the rating system is a sham. In my case, the load shifted to the right during the trip. Fortunately, not many items suffered damage, but some did. In terms of the pickup of equipment, the trailer was older and beaten up but clean inside and probably not the responsibility of the location; the owner/manager helped with proper trailer hookup. Can't submit a review without answering 'yes' or 'no' to the two questions, which is ridiculous, but I answered 'yes' to both.
John WI was not given the blankets I paid for and did not think I should have been charged for gas. I have filed a complaint, but have not heard back yet. This was not a great experience for me.

Kevin RTrailer lights not working on 4 separate trailers. They finally got one to work but the lights quit working on the trip. Truck was dirty.
Craig MCounter people were not helpful. Said they would send someone out to help hook up the trailer; after 10 minutes, no show. I previously worked for UHaul so I hooked it up myself. Reserved a dozen pads and lady said "we don't have them" and offered no resolution. Had to go to a second location to get the pads. The lot is a mud hole and the equipment is parked haphazardly with no order; trucks point different directions, trailers mixed in with trucks and different sizes of trailers mixed together. The trailer I picked up was backed into a mud hole with water and it was nearly impossible to lift on to the hitch. Overall, this place is a sorry excuse for a UHaul dealer. Avoid!!

Rob WThe place was adequate the lot where the equipment was kept was chaos. Where my experience really stunk was in your portal. I rented from a place near my office. Only to be told by text message and voice mail the equipment was not available. Then an agent helped me book this equipment at the Larkin location. When I arrived to pick it up I found my reservation had been canceled. I then had to hold for ten minutes to get my problem resolved. Not a good experience. I will work hard to find an alternative to U-Haul for my next rental
Michael TThe man that helped hook the trailer up to my car took his penis out and asked if I wanted to "test it out". I filed a police report, but apparently this has happened to multiple customers. I believe the man is now fired, but the fact that this went on for so long is - abhorrent.
Lindsay FI think they are scamming on the tank fill level. I returned the truck with more fuel than when I picked it up, and was still charged for 3 gallons. There is no way to verify, the self return functions did not work on the app due to location difficulties. I'm not disputing the charge as it's more trouble than it's worth, which they are counting on. I will have to return a trailer here soon, and will take pictures of everything as I am assuming they'll try something again
Colin BI was instructed to drive 40 minutes out of my way to return the cargo trailer. I know that there was other options available for returns. Why this one? It was inconvenient and small.

Paula VI turned my rental back in at 4802 Larkin St location at 4:35pm, on the same day (2/12) and before the 5pm deadline. They decided to not check me in until the next morning. I talked to a u-haul support representative on 2/13. They told me they've had multiple issues with this location, and they would get the additional day removed from my bill. It's been a week and I'm still seeing the same overcharge. Please fix this billing issue. The Larkin St location was pretty chaotic and disorganized, I will not be using it again.
Sean CWe received the truck with a slippery substance spilled in the back. I have video proof of how it looked. It was a complete hazard for my staff to load on equipment! We slid in the back of the track and couldn't get proper traction with our shoes. It was some oily substance, and I had to lay towels down, but that did not help with the slipperiness.
Zoe ANeeded more helpers for customers. Customers walking around the lot by themselves trying to find their trailer. Our trailer was broken so we were given a different one.

When I finally got a truck it was blocked in the back of the lot and had to have them move other trucks to get to it. They were rude if quick about it. The equipment was dirty inside and out. Inside the box was plastic, dirt, metal shavings, and old clothes from the previous user. The truck was not cleaned AT ALL
Andrew PThe drop off location was by no means appropriate or prepared for our return of the equipment. The street was tight and busy with it being next to an auto body shop. They were questioning me as if I had stolen something, acted as if I need to unload the hitch rental myself and not until I went inside for the THIRD time to ask for assistance did they grab a nice young man from the auto shop garage to help and even he told us that were essentially taking up too much of his time and that they would charge me if we asked him to help us with THE BASIC TASK OF UNLOADING THE CAR. I received no confirmation of my drop off (which was several days early) and called customer service about that. She assured me that I would receive confirmation on the scheduled return date. Instead, II received a phone call from the drop off location clerk asking me where my rental was and I was about to go off. She immediately hung up without saying anything and sent the email confirmation. Absolutely unprofessional.
