There was no one at the location so the checkin was by internet. We found it confusing and difficult to use. A lot of steps and quite complex. It required phone advice from U Haul. Throughout the booking and activating process U Haul representatives were couteous and helpful.

The truck was not clean at pick up and I marked so on the app at sign up. I marked the same at drop off for the same not clean condition of the truck as at pickup - and I was charged a cleaning fee. Very unfair.

Lazy. He had the nerve to sit there and send me a link and said watch a video, go outside scan a code and then it will tell you where to find find the key. Seriously? I tried 4 times while he sat there amused by my frustration. He then took my phone and it did not scan for him either. So he said just sign on this pad. Really? Put me through a video and problems when 10 seconds all I had to do was sign digitally? I think he is amused by his narcissistic powers

I was amazed at how well the pickup & return app worked. The entire process was easy to execute and thoughtfully laid out. Used the truck for several trips and it still cost considerably less than what I expected to pay.

Charged for cleaning. Simply not true. Intent to get my $25.00 back. Will not use this location again. I rent many times a year for my business. If you want my business you will return my $25. Not happy!!

Picture of where the truck was parked was inaccurate and we spent time trying to figure out which truck was ours. Had to go inside to ask and the guy was so absolutely rude. We finally found our truck and couldn't open the lock, guy had to come out and was so disinterested and abrupt. Will not rent at that location again due to the service alone.

Check-in went fine and the vehicle was in reasonable shape. Contained the blankets I had rented. Contacted the location by phone to determine if I could park my vehicle there and they were fine with it. Individual I spoke to was pleasant. No problems.

This was not the location I booked. I got a last minute email of the new location. The agent was grumpy with lots of rude opinions/ remarks. He was not easy to work with.

The whole process of picking up the truck is poor and time consuming . Reserving on line is meaningless. I was not plan to bring passport or have someone available for Uhaul to confirm prior approving for rental ! My wife was working and can't pickup call. Friend is driving to meet me at location to pick up furniture which is the reason why I am renting . I was expect to be in and out in 5 min . The app for phone pickup is terrible and it does not work. It didn't pick up my location. The return of the truck after hours is terrible because the app didn't pick up the location . I called 1800 for support and couldn't get anyone on the phone for 30 min later just to return the truck! It is terrible ! Never seen this anywhere . Check Penske! Check other rental company. Terrible terrible process !

I used the mobile service and I did not realize that I would have to go through a validation process that took some time. It was actually faster when I used the counter process at the Ultramar Gas bar on Prince of Wales Drive in Ottawa Canada. I provided a lot of information ahead of the rental date and so I do not know why you could not send me the code for the key box on the morning of the pickup in a secure way, Instead, I went through a complicated process (upload drivers licence again, took a selfie photo etc.). Good client service means you ask for the data once (you had my drivers licence info already). Maybe provide a unique user code that I contact you with when I show up at the location. If you cannot make it easier due to security concerns, the counter option and meeting an individual service provider may be the best option. Another customer showed up and he was asking me questions and I did the best to help out.

You need to simplify the process of picking up and droping off, it took me and others about 1/2 hour to pick up and drop off. I am not an employee of U-haul and I have no intention on becoming one.

Local U-Haul rep was absolutelly rude and un-interested in supporting the rental process. Had us call office in US, instead of just performing a trivial in-person identification check.

the whole experience was disappointing, from the online check in process to the rudeness of the location owner. Uhaul moved me to a different pickup location 20km further. Unacceptable. I booked the truck weeks in advance. The location owner kicked me out of the store while he was eating telling me to "dont step inside, do evrithing from outside!". Intrenet connection was not great, I almost gave up the rental. Will reconsider next time if needed.

it took for ever to release the truck, and they were of no assistance, and when asked they said because of COVID they couldn't come out and help. and yet when the truck was finally released 45mins later, they came out to deliver the keys, NIGHTMARE

Make the instructions about the pick-up more clear at the time of booming. I booked, but wasn't the one driving the truck, so when he went to get the truck, he wasn't able to because apparently my phone had to be there with him. Making it clear that the number you put in for booking should be the phone number of the DRIVER PICKING UP THE TRUCK, not just the person paying or booking the reservation, would have made this process a lot easier for pick up and drop off!!!

Very rude and grumpy staff member. Had to wait to ask a question and he told me to just go check the website. It's a garage so I don't think they care about the rental side. Wouldn't recommend picking up uHaul equipment from here to anyone.

I was having problems with the Uhaul app and asked for assistance from the person inside. I found him to be rude, and not helpful at all. He told me he couldn't help me, to call the toll free line and basically walked away.

They say “rent for $19.99” yet my bill is $75. Truck was clean and returned undamaged 2 hours earlier then quoted... yet there is even a $22 after hours charge? I had it the middle of the day.... outrageous to say the least...

Jim's customer service is far above good. I'd call it excellent. He assisted me in dealing with a late return of a trailer that I rented and made sure that I could secure the rental the next day. I'd recommend Jim for all your U-haul rental needs. He's conveniently located off of Hazelden Rd.

Please improve your online check in. Also let people know that if they have to have their account authorized on their phone PRIOR to picking up. My phone was not authorized and the verification email was not being sent to my email. I had to go back home, get my computer, and check in by using my phone data tethered to my phone. It ended up taking 45 minutes to check in and get the keys to the Uhaul, so frustrating!

I filled out everything online as requested, got a reply saying everything was good to go, get to location and find the grumpiest rudest person that U-Haul has working for them. I have rented from this guy before but only if I couldn't find some other rental company with a trailer available within 20 miles. Everything about the contract was wrong, he said I didn't fill anything out right, I did it online, of course it was done right or it would not have went through.. He said I was supposed to put my drivers license on the reservation, I said I did hear it is if you need it again, he says no never mind. After filling everything out the way U-Haul requested, he still wasted 20 minutes of my time while other U-Haul customers were standing there wondering what was going on. Having been a U-Haul dealer myself for 13 years, I don't consider this guy an acceptable dealer.

I have some issues about the receipt and service. I originally made the other online for your location on 15 Campbell Reid Ct, Kanata location, for yesterday, Monday, June 1, 2020. This location is closed on Monday, yet you still approved the reservation and did not inform to the contrary. This location is much closer to where I needed to use the truck. Your inability to inform us of the situation resulted in a few things, with no time to consult alternative option: Higher mileage - resulting in more $$$Rental of a 15 foot truck instead of initial 10 foot truck that was reserved (new location did not have 10 foot truck available) - resulting in more $$$Time pressure to ensure truck return by 7pm, due to more than anticipated driving. More gas to fill - resulting in more $$$ In addition: What is the after hours service fee? It was never disclosed during my phone conversation with your rep, at time of reservation update. Was truck cleaned for Covid19? It was dirty and dusty, with an empty folded box left in the cabin. It took over 30 minutes to complete the online process for taking the truck, which reduced the usage time available to me, for which you charged me. I would appreciate it, due to all the above, that you would kindly find a way to reimburse all or a portion of the charges. Not only was it a very unpleasant experience he tried to make me feel like an idiot saying other people figured it out and then realized he never sent the email to me. Trailer didn't have a jack. When dropping it off I had to us a car jack propped up on two prices of wood. Imagine if the trailer rolled a bit while lifting it? Could have damaged my vehicle and possibly caused personal injury. When picking it up the guy who attached it had a handheld trailer jack. I asked him that was included with the rental and he say 'no'. I asked him how I'm supposed to lift the trailer off and he said I'd need another person to help lift it. THEN: I had the trailer for 26 hours but was charged for 48!

Recommend updating the wording on the website. to ensure it VERY CLEARLY states that this location has ZERO human front desk service. The proprietor cannot help in ANY way and everything must be done via mobile phone, Flipping between screens and scrambling to enter verification codes sent by U-Haul ... I was fine, but anyone who is not tech savvy would be completely skunked.

I rented a trailer but didn't know how to attach it to my hitch. The gentleman who served me had to help me in the following areas while fighting the freezing cold: 1) Hunt down a ball hitch to fit my hitch (I don't have a ball hitch) 2) Hunt down equipment to cut a hole on a piece of hard plastic that partially covered the high hole. 3) Show me how to connect the trailer to my hitch securely. 4) He did all these without breaking a sweat while serving 2 or 3 other customers.
