When a customer reserves a truck be sure to tell them that the uhaul storage unit they are headed for closes at a certain time in the evening. I arrived at mine only to find they were closed I wasn't aware of this I had people that had to go back to work the next day had to take another day off.

Every time I called your help line I ended up on very long wait till someone helped me. The people at the John Day U-Haul were very helpful and understood how hard it is for a customer like me to get help promptly on your regular help line and gave me the phone number of a U-Haul manager who works that part of eastern Oregon. I believe his name is Greg and is usually in the Burns, Oregon area. This man was extremely helpful and got me the right information I needed, since I never got any confirmation call on where to get my trailer.

Truck reserved for us has a check engine light on and a cut fuel line. We ended up having to take a smaller truck and trailer. They gave us $50 off for our troubles but then charged an additional $33 for insurance on the trailer. Frustrating to say the least. I put my reservation in 2 weeks prior to pickup. No excuse.

Left wheel of the trailer was extremely rusted and appeared to partially separate from the rim of the wheel. Pointed it out to the agent at turn-in point in Florence Oregon. Tires were in good condition though.

The weld on the ramp broke while loading the car. The whole ramp came off and caused my car to crash down on the rest of the dolly resulting in damage to the underside. The location did not offer the use of a replacement without charge so I turned it in and left. After using uhaul for numerous moves across the country I must say I was very disappointed.

I had called to reserve a 17 to 20 foot truck. He told me they only had a 20 or 26 foot one. I said I wanted the 20 foot one. He said I would get what they had. When I went to pick it up, there was a 20 foot one there, but the person there at the time, not the one I had spoken to to make the reservation, said I had reserved a 26 foot one. I said I had reserved a 20 foot one. He would not change it to the 20 foot one that was there, and charged me the whole amount for the 26 foot one. A year and a half or so ago, I had reserved a truck and they had to give me a larger one because they did not have the smaller one I wanted, but they only charged me for the size I had reserved. I thought that is what they should have done in this case, as well.

Clerk at pick-up location said he wished he had a dedicated U-Haul kiosk. Said if I had not reserved online, the in-person booking process on his computer is difficult to complete. Personally I had no issues.

This was one of the worst moving experiences I've ever had. First, I get a call to enhance my rental which was gladly accepted. Once I get to John Day Polaris to pick up the truck and trailer, the larger truck could not be used with the auto trailer because someone who previously rented this truck welded a ball to the hitch that made the connection with the trailer I needed unusable. This should have been checked out well in advance. Second, when I took the truck and trailer home, within a few short hours, the trailer started to show signs of a flat tire. I pumped up the tire with my compressor. In the small town I lived in, nothing was open after hours. Once we filled the truck up with our belongings, I noticed the trailers tire was going flat again. I filled it up, again. Next, we set off on our move the follow day. 70 miles or so into the drive, the trailer tire was going flat, again. This was a Sunday on a holiday weekend. Most stuff that could fix this was closed in Eastern Oregon. We pressed on. Upon entering another summit range, almost to the top, the radiator blew in the truck. Thankfully we had multiple people in the group who could make the 20-30 minute drive through snow and ice to get help. 4 hours later road side assistance arrived. Road side assistance did very well throughout this process. However, the road side assistance guy told me the trailer had 3 previous work orders to fix the tire, once coming from John Day Polaris but was obviously never fixed. The truck on the other hand was supposed to be brand new and according to this guy, showed no service records. The truck had over 144,000 miles on it. Hardly new and if there are no service records, meaning no service has been done, you guys are placing people at serious risk and yourselves at significant liability. I have since requested a complete and full refund. This move, minus loading and unloading should have taken us 6 hours. From door step to door step we were well over 32 hours. There is only one reason for this, bad equipment. I have used Uhaul equipment many times in the past but if this is going to be the standard for equipment presented, I will never use Uhaul again.
