First, this location put me on an E alert because I had put down my sister in law as a secondary emergency contact, and she unknowingly had an E alert that had nothing to do with us. An E alert is evidently a flag in the entire U Haul online system that says the person is not eligible to rent from U Haul until their discrepancy is fixed. All I had done was put her name down as one of the emergency contacts, and I asked, "Can you just take her name off then," to which the lady replied, "No because now you have an E alert, and I can't rent to you until it's fixed." I was then told I could not rent a U Haul from ANY location unless I was able to get the E alert taken off my name. I called the number, and the person who answered the phone (no affiliation to this location) was very helpful and explained that the location that put the E alert on my sister in law had basically done it out of pettiness as she had no outstanding balances and is recorded to have turned it in on the time she said she would turn it in. I understand putting an E alert on someone who has an outstanding balance, but putting one on someone who simply claims to know that person and making them jump through hoops to be able to rent not only from this location but any location is so egregious that I can't put it into words. When I thought they had done enough, I turned in the U Haul and they tried to charge me $70 extra. I called and asked and they said I had turned it in with less fuel than I took it with, to which I told them I have before and after pictures proving I turned it in with the same amount of fuel. They then looked in their files and said they had misread the previous contract, and that I was correct. That's $30 they tried to charge me that I didn't owe. When they calculated what I owed with the extra miles and the dolly I rented, it was $25. Even if I had turned it in with less fuel, that would've been another $30 making the total $55. Where did the other $15 that they tried to charge me come from?! The only thing that saved me was that my card was frozen at the time they tried to charge me because I know as well as this company knows had that charge gone through, I wouldn't have gotten my money back. U Haul treats it's customers like sh*t because they are a monopoly and it doesn't matter how they treat you. I hope I never have to move myself again because I don't want to give another cent to U Haul.

Dominic A | Expérience généraleListen, I generally just go on and don't say anything but I picked up a 26' truck. The day I picked it up it smelled like weed. Additionally unless the additional charges are forgotten I will be taking further action this is ridiculous.
ALLISON IWe had to fill up with gas as soon as we got the truck bc it only had 1/4 of a tank. We had to move in the middle of a hurricane storm so it was raining the whole time we had the truck and we got charged a cleaning fee for having footprints in it.

Mariha GI paid $108,65 for the month of June for my daughter's stuff. I rented the unit after her fiance died quite a few months ago. I never was late with a payment because the money was automatically taken from my account on the first of the month. She moved to Fayetteville and came back to get her stuff and I rented a trailer to move her belongings for her. She emptied the unit on June 5, and I went and picked up the lock and spent 15-20 minutes sweeping out the unit. I am physically handicapped due to falling and breaking my back ( doctors words) in 2015. I went to the office to let them know that I had swept out the unit and wanted to make sure I do not get charged on July 1. I did not remember that the iffice was closed on Thursday, so I left a voice-mail explaining that the unit was empty and swept clean. Yesterday, I got an email stating that since I did not sweep out the unit, I was not receiving any of my money back because me a picture showing a dirty floor. I wish I would have taken my own picture, because the picture they sent was from before I swept out the unit. I have used Lairds numerous times in the past 19 years, but, I will never use them again because of this incident.

Gabriel DHours were sporadic. We arrived around noon on a Thursday and found the office closed. We were told if we returned the equipment another day late, that we would be charged an additional $29 per day, and we had nowhere to store a trailer for the night. The next day the employee working berated us for dropping off the trailer at the location the day before when no one was there. We tried to call and leave a message, but no voicemail was set up. How are we supposed to return equipment when the location hours are different every day and there is no way to call?

I had to go to 2 different locations because I couldn't get the locks to open and the staff just happened to be available and helped me access the 2nd truck. Also. My card was charged twice because I had to switch locations because you have to put in tour payment information b4 you can get code for truck.

When we went to fill out the paperwork with Therea everything went smoothly. The moving out was just as smooth. I would recommend AAA storage to every one. I rate them a 10 out of 5. I live in Northwoods, but, I have found that this facility is much less expensive than others I have rented closer to my home. If I need to rent a unit again, it will definitely be with AAA in Piney Green

Jerry KThe truck was given to me dirty. The woman that helped me was very rude. I believe her name was Theresa. She was mildly kind to me, but she was extremely rude to a veteran who could not wear a mask due to medical purposes. Her attitude became huffy and very upset when he said he couldn't wear a mask. It upset me a lot. He laid his life down so this woman could work but she treated him like the bottom of the barrel when he refused to wear a mask due to medical purposes he said. I thanked him for what he did. And she told him he needed to stay outside? Is that really how we treat our vets? He probably had PTSD and that's why he couldn't wear a mask, and now he's being treated degradingly for it? Unacceptable. OSHA and Google would love to hear about this. This has bothered me all week, and I needed to say something

Michael GAccossiate was rude. When hooking the trailer up, accossiate did not help and I was forced to lift the tounge of the 6x12 trailer up, which probably weighted 150lbs, and hook the trailer up fully to the truck. There was no jack on the trailer for helpful assistance in this matter. I will not be returning to this location ever.

Jerry MIt seemed more like I was a bother to the sales associate. She wasn't very friendly to customers. The website said that the dolly I ordered would be in the trailer, it wasnt, I had to get it myself. It's a little thing, but it points toward their customer service or lack therof. The whole experience seemed like I was more of a burden to them.

AUSTIN DTire on trailer had a whole in it, I had to fix it out of my pocket. Female manager at Lairds could definitely work on her people skills. As far as the trailer itself, worked fine besides the tire.

DOUGLAS HAfter my reservation had been changed three times before my pickup time, eventually it was changed to this location. I received a call from this location asking why I was not there to pick up the dolly and I let them know that my truck reservation was to pick it up at noon and the dolly was at 9 so there was no way to get it without the truck. After I sorted out the truck and dolly the staff here did not help at all with showing how to use the dolly. I asked again if my car would fit and work with the dolly and was assured it would even after I took my car for the "inspection". After all was paid for and I received the equipment I asked for help and was told to watch the video. So, I went outside re-watched the video and did it myself and it did not feel right since I was by myself and the employees were inside I could not see to make sure I was driving up correctly. I again asked for help and the employee came out and told me my tire would not fit into the dolly. I asked what could be done and she went and wrote down the number to customer service and told me to call them. After 30 mins on hold and nothing I went around the city to 5 different locations and no one would help. All of them told me I was out of luck, did not have other equipment, or if I returned it to their store I would lose the money I paid for the rental of the dolly sine it was past an hour. One location tried to get me to return the truck and dolly and redo another contract that I would be reimbursed in a couple days. I could not do that after paying 800 dollars for the equipment and then getting another one when trying to move from NC to FL. Finally finding one UHAUL location that did help they were able to resolve the issue by email to their district manager. Overall the experience was horrible taking 6 hours to get a truck and a dolly. The ladies at Iron Clad storage were the only ones willing to help me they were awesome.
OSCAR RShe was lazy and slow. On another note, when i went to put the trailor back on the hitch to drop it off, The hitch wouldnt go all the way onto the ball. I tried everything from jumping up and down on it, picking it up and dropping it onto the ball as hard as i could, oiling it, for 2 i tried. In the mean time i called a few places and nobody could help, they referred me to road side assistance and the guy that answered the phone said to me "well i have never put a uhaul hitch on a trailer but did you watch the video?" I was speechless. This kind of bullshit service is unacceptable from a good company like uhaul. I expected better help. He said "i could send somebody out to put it on for you but it will be a while and it will cost you" So, i had to drive the trailor that was only half way on the ball 30 mins to drop it off. It was nerve racking. It was a 6x12 hydraulic breaking on or something. Thanks and i hope this review helps your customer service for the future.
