After returning the rental the same day for a rental of 8 hours, I ended up getting charged for 4 days. Shysters beyond belief.

Van was under 10 inches of snow, so was the access to the car. It took 30 minutes of my time to clean it of snow. i took another 30 minutes to get the car out of the parking slot because of the snow behind the car. Totally unacceptable conditions, as the snow was 2 days old and nobody cared to make access for a customer. Only with the help of an employee, who said he was not connected to the Uhaul business, was I able to move the car, I had a four hour rental period reserved, and 1/4 of it was already used up before I was able to leave the rental place. Absolutely poor arrangement and customer service.

Business was closed when I arrived. He eventually had a staff member come to give me the keys. I order 60 furniture pads which were left out overnight and were soaking wet. Inside the uhaul was broken glass and dirt and trash. The owner said he would get me new furniture pads and get them to my house. I called him 3 times during the day and each time he said he was going to get me pads. Never called me back and had no intention of getting me the pads. Very dishonest individual and I will never rent from uhaul again.

The location was difficult to find. There is not UHaul signage visible from Skokie Valley Road. In addition, there is a large car wash just a few yards south of Magic Touch Carwash which I thought was the UHaul location at Magic Touch.

Put the key in the correct lock box with the correct code. If someone selected online that they didn't want to do an online check in, don't send them to a place that is closed on the time and day they are picking up.

No one there to help. Not clear where to leave equipment. Dark and spooky leaving equipment behind a building in poor condition. I purposely made my reservation to drop off in a different location because I don't like this one. At the last minute I saw on the app that my drop off location was moved to this location that was farther away.

This review is way overdue, but we rented a van in June to move my father out of the house he had lived in for over 50 years. We misjudged the size truck we would need to move the contents of his house, but Sam saved us by finding us a larger truck. He was very nice and helpful and I can't say enough about the great service we received. Thank you Sam!!!!

Have the paperwork completed and ready as I filled it out on line and call 25 minutes before my arrival. Insure my request for rental equipment is meet, requested a dolly which was not available, Location has too many other businesses and lacks focused on Uhaul customer. My wait was 25 minutes and I was the only Uhaul customer on site. Insure the drop off location is correct versus selecting one that's over 135 miles from my home plus I already specified the location in the on line form.

1) The van I got was not the van that was pictured in the ad. Same size, different style though. Why? 2) I had to call your 800 number a couple times but each time you hung up on me with a recording: "we're experiencing difficulties at the moment, please try again later." Click. 3) Your website couldn't locate my phone so I had to download your app in the return parking lot after 5 hours of moving. You think I appreciated that? 4) The app asked my how I wanted to pay, even though I already had. 6) Guy working at the location was not wearing a mask 6)👎

Very odd experience. The van was On empty and other people's left over food and drinks in it. Garbage and stuff in the back. Very unorganized. Gave me a way cheaper quote than the final bill was. Over a hundred dollars more. Guy wasn't there at drop off. Had to lv keys just on counter. Very bizarre

Sam, who probably wears 947 hats at this Car Wash(where the Uhaul is located), went above and beyond to make sure we had our truck. I can see how some people had a bad experience because of this but if you just calm down, talk to him and be respectful you'll be fine. Thanks Sam!

The upsell is frustrating. Yes I know you want more money from me, but it makes me hesitant to use Uhaul. I know I will have to put up with border line unethical treatment so you can try to squeeze more money out of me

I worked with Sam recently on 2 one way rentals. He was great and ensured that I had everything I needed. I used the U-haul on-line app check-in for one rental, and in person check-in with Sam on the second rental. Both rentals and returns went smooth. I really appreciate the customer service that I was given by Sam.

The last person who used the truck had left something sticky and brown all over the floor of the truck. Nasty ! I had to wet mop the truck out before we could use it. Otherwise, I was afraid that it would be tracked everywhere on our shoes into the storage facility which is very clean ! The moving blankets/pads had been left unfolded and spread out all over the truck floor. We had to fold them up to get them out of the way to wash the truck floor. The gentleman who I dealt with for arranging everything was extremely helpful ! I appreciated all his efforts to assist with the planning. I think it might be helpful to have a better way of instructing people on the latch mechanism of the truck. We thought we had pushed the latch mechanism hard enough but the roadside assistance told us it was not totally latched and flipped up and relocked in the open door position. This delayed our move by over an hour. Once roadside assistance arrived it was quickly returned to working order. Perhaps a more brightly colored attention getting label could be affixed with bold print lettering to ward off this problem. Despite the frustration of the situation, all persons we dealt with were helpful and it will not dissuade me from using Uhaul in the future. I hope this information will help future customers ! Thanks.

This was the second location I went to. The first place, J.J. Service Center, in Highwood, IL, was closed today, even though the website stated they were open today until noon. Fortunately, I was able to contact U-Haul headquarters so they could direct me to another location, about 5 miles away. Someone should tell J.J. Service Center to update their website, since the sign in their window, stating they are closed on Saturday, was dated 3/20, meaning the website is almost 2 months out of date. Because of this error, I had to drive more extra miles than I drove the U-Haul truck! Perhaps U-Haul should refund the $5 mileage fee for the rental?

Make sure people are there when picking up a truck. We had to wait 30 minutes and the only people there couldn't help us because they worked at the car detailing place and had no idea what was happening. Rep also did not even check for dolly, thankfully refunded me but didn't even check to see if he had one in the first place.

Not well marked. Location is actually a detailing shop. No one was in the office - door was locked. After 5 minutes I eventually found an unlocked door and was told someone would be with me in 5 minutes. After 10 minutes I was told the same - 5 more minutes. After 20 minutes I was told 5 more minutes. 45 minutes later someone came to help me and was not even able to give me paperwork showing I returned the trailer. Poor customer service and made me wait way too long for what should have been a simple transaction. I would never return to this location again. Trailer was not water tight. Was raining and many items got wet. I did not appreciate that. This should not have happened. I told the person at the return location and he didn't seem to care.

Make sure the place is open and they know the customer is coming. If it wasn't for a guy washing cars, I would not have been able to pick up the truck. He and I went through keys to find the correct one. He called the owner(who was out of town), and the owner had zero concern with my predicament.

The staff there was not customer friendly. We had a very bad experience over there. Just when he got us the keys and hooked the car transport to the truck then he left us. The car transport had snow over it and it was cold that time. We asked him if he can help us how to safely load the car in the transport but replied he doesn't have any idea. I don't why would they do business like that if they don't know how to help their customers. It was cold and snowing that day and we just figured it out ourselves by searching on the youtube. It would have been easier and faster if we had the help we need.

I reserved a 15 foot truck and was coming from Milwaukee Wi to Waukegan Il. When I got there, there was no truck for me. The gentleman that was helping me was awesome considering. So,l had to drive another 12 miles to Higlannd Park and they only had a 10 foot truck. I had to make two trips back and forth and use 2x as much gasoline. a 1. 5 hour trip turned into a 10 hour day.Horrible!! The nice guy at Waukegan had to fight with someone on the phone just to get me extra miles since i was going to go back and forth due to them not having the truck i reserved!! Kudos to the consultant i worked with, but the rest of the compnay should be ashamed. My check engine light was on the entire strip which didnt make me feel any better!

I used Uhaul App to check in, or tried to. The experience in the App was extremely complicated and painful to process. Once I had checked in on the App it didn't give me access to the key to the vehicle so I had to hunt for someone at the location to get the key and no one was around. Luckily the business next door knew and called the owner to help find the key. Whole process took over an hour which is completely unacceptable. I will do everything I can to avoid renting from Uhaul again.

On arrival I had to search for assistance. I asked if they wanted to park the trailer. They said there would be a 25 dollar charge for them to do so. I had thought they might know where they wanted it. I was instructed to put it in any open space. Which I did without incident. Not your typical Midwest helpfulness The use of the trailer was excellent. The communication from UHaul was excellent.

Your app simply sucks. It crashed many times and made me fill out info (drivers license number, etc) again even though I filled it out online when making the reservation. I chose the app route because I wouldn't have to go-to the counter. Well the damn app took 30 minutes to go through, and ultimately I had to go-to the damn counter anyways to get the keys. Terrible experience. Was in a major hurry and your shit system wasted 30 minutes of my time for something that should have taken seconds.

Someone at U-haul cancelled my order the day prior to pick up, but did not notify me. No phone call. No email. I was traveling over 350 miles prior to picking up a trailer and found out that morning that there was nothing waiting for me. In addition to this, when I called customer service, the first person left me on hold for over twenty minutes without any update on the situation. I ended up calling from a separate phone while still on hold from my phone. The second person, thankfully, spoke with me and eventually find a trailer in the area. The door dimensions on the trailer would possibly be too small for what I was hauling, so the lady gave me the phone number to the location to verify the dimensions. The person at the location told me they "only answer the phone" and could not help. He stated "I am not the person you need to talk to" but also said there was no one there that would be able to answer my question. I called the customer service representative back. She got her supervisor on the phone to confirm the dimensions. Thankfully, the dimensions barely cleared my needs. Pick up went well at the location. No hiccups. I measured the door myself to verify they would work. Many thanks to Janet, the customer service representative that helped me sort this all out. You were magnificent. But at the end of the day, this experience left a poor taste in my mouth. I am hesitant to recommend U-haul to others when the ball gets dropped in at least three different ways on one rental. ????
