App wasn't customer friendly and chat took a long time to respond. I had a crew waiting to load the truck. 24 hours should be after I have the keys, not while I am waiting on the keys thru the app. Would not go with U-Haul at this location again.

Chris J.We have rented 6 different U-hauls over the last several months as we are moving out of a 5400 sq foot home to a Condo in Waynesville, NC 3 hours away from our farm. I called Ashville and they said this location in Mills River, NC would be better. HORRIBLE experience. Someone should inspect the truck we were given. I took pictures it was that bad. The truck was filthy. While driving in the cab, the entire time it smelled of exhaust. The tires thread were completely unacceptable and I don't know how it would pass any NC inspections. There were almost 200 000 miles on this 26 ft. truck. Even the truck itself would be completely embarrassing to Corporate U-haul. It had major damage all over. The back tailgate had been damage. The back pull down door, the middle of it was completely stripped off of anything U-haul. To pay $635,43 HURT me, I was so upset. My significant other, Ward Bennett, rented this for me and he has COPD (not from smoking) and he was the one who had to drive 6 hours with the smell of exhaust. I have spent $1 144,42 just in TRUCK rentals this summer. I can't even begin to go through my bank statements to see all of the boxes, tape, bubble wrap that I have paid for. I will rent my last 26'ft. U-Haul on Thursday, Sept 7, 2023 from the Thomasville, NC location. THEY have been unbelievable with their service, trucks and accessories. Gary C.This isn't this locations fault, this is the UHAUL COMPANIES fault! I pre-reserved a truck days in advance, all my emails and text said Swannonoa and I showed up and they didn't have the truck, they said it was in sweeten creek over 15 minutes in the opposite direction. I got to sweeten creek and they didn't have the truck but they called corporate who found a larger truck at a place another 30 minutes out of the way and when I got there that person had zero clue that I had a reservation. I spent 2 hours going way out of my way for a truck I reserved days in advance. Causing my hired helpers to be delayed, causing me to put more miles on the truck and using more gas. Ending up wasting hours of my day and costing me $100 more than planned for my move that day. This is unprofessional, unacceptable and I expect some form of refund from the company that should have “it together†better. The employees at all the stores were apologetic and attempted to help, but corporate should have had this together.
