Online app felt broken and didn’t record or confirm my booking. Multiple duplicate emails about everything. Sign out process complicated and stressful. Over charged for dolly cart. The location was fantastic and the people caring. The uhaul infrastructure was terrible and took many calls on my part. 1/5 overall experience. Will likely rent from a more streamlined rental agency next time.

I will actually be phoning tomorrow to submit a formal complaint. The process for picking up this u-haul truck at this location was horrendous. First, you canceled my original reservation at a different location (which I had specifically picked due to good reviews) at the last minute and moved it to this location. Then picking up the truck was an hour long ordeal. The truck was not parked at the actual location, but instead over away by the side of the road. The truck was unmarked and it took us forever to find it. There were no instructions or directions as to where it was. The app wasn't working properly and customer service had us on hold for 30 mins. The owner of the place refused to help us, and kept telling us to call customer service. dropping off was a similar ordeal. we were not given any instructions as to how to drop off. The location didn't even open till 2pm. We were told to move the van when we tried to park at the location. Other parking in the area would be towed. We had to park over a block away. And then we couldn't get the lockbox to work because, once again, the app was a problem. The owner refused to help us again. In the end, he finally told us that we could just drop the keys off in a mail box. AFTER AN HOUR. I would honestly like, at minimum. a partial refund since this was absolutely ridiculous, poor communication and we were late to everything by an hour each day.

The gas was in 1/4 but in the contract was 5/16. I sent a picture of that. There is no parking place in that branch and it's so difficult to find parking in Oak Street.

My booking was pushed back 2 hours with no notice, leaving multiple people in the lurch who had kindly offered to help me move. God forbid I had paid movers to help me, I would then be faced with the decision to pursue you in court to recoup those additional costs. It is fair to mention that I've used this location for moves many times over the years, and this has been the only time I've been frustrated with the experience.

When booking I was expecting to pick up a truck from a requested location, but then I was sent notice that my location AND pick up time had been changed !! Had I known I would have to go elsewhere, I would have booked else where or made different arrangements as the allotted kms for a one way drop off would be surpassed. Anyways, Craig at Oak Dollar Plus had made it so that I would at least be able to pick up at the same time ! As well as the telephone agent who I spoke with kindly added inclusive mileage so I would be well within my allotted mileage ( I forgot to get his name he was very helpful as I was pretty upset at the time ! Anyways thanks to your team a very bad review was avoided !

Renting the vehicle at 10am right when you open was difficult because there was a long line and we didn’t actually get the vehicle until 10:30. However, when I couldn’t return the vehicle on time, I was shocked at how accommodating the people working at this location were. And I wasn’t charged any late fees. 10/10 would recommend as a great experience. Thank you!!

This was the absolute worst experience ever! The mobile pick up is an embarrassment to your brand. We tried to make it work for over an hour!! The people at the pick up location were great and reality turned things around for us. But, it took 1.5 hours to sort out. Get it sorted out or close down your mobile service!

my only concern was that as we were booking online we thought we were booking from a location that was actually closer to us and somewhere the online application switched to the Oak Street location without notifying us. We ONLY knew of the location change at the time of CHECKOUT. This experience should be improved.

Never going to rent U-haul. These guys are rip-off. I rented vehicle on June 20th and returned the same evening June 20th. App wasn't working so I called u-haul to inform the return and dropped key in the drop box. I got video evidence of that and also of the parking where I parked. Next morning I called U-Haul customer service and made sure my vehicle was returned and everything was okay. After one week, I was $179 dollars. Upon asking why I was charged. I was sent a parking ticket which they claimed belong to my rental. Ticket was issued on 06/21 for $120 minimum. I disputed for over a month. Customer service didn't help. Talked to Citation department, the guy who answered my phone was beyond ruthless, he said I should take it up with the City because they gave me ticket and ignored to listen to me that ticket was given to U-Haul next day and U-Haul is charging me with NO PROOF that ticket was my responsibility as ticket wasn't issued on the day I rented and returned vehicle. This wasn't resolved. I made peace with it that $179 I have my valuable time to spend on other matters. Now today after almost two months on 08/16/2019, I get a text that I am charged $315.00 additional on my credit card related to my rental 06/20 to 06/22. How did the return date charged and how am I charged again after two months out of surprise with no invoice and no explanation? This company is beyond crooks and ridiculous with no regard for customer service and human values. Nobody is seem to be helping neither their customer service, equipment recovery or area manager. Area Manager called me once from private number when I explained I have picture proof of parking at right spot he still didn't leave me contact to provide him proof as he stated nothing could be done. I am unfairly charged by these crooks and rip-off. I am surprised to the fact that this type of Unethical business practice exists in North America. Never using U-HAUL again and not recommending to anyone.

Fix your app and give some customer service with the app. This is the most buggy piece of crap I have had to deal with in a long time. Would not accept my birthday or license expiry date. No one answered the on line chat. Was told by your customer service rep to try again in 15 min. Will never try to use your app again. Totally unacceptable for this day and age.

The online portal was fantastic. The customer service from the U-Haul representative was horrendous. His instructions (through the portal) stated I could park in the lot behind the shop. I did, and was approached by three different people who told me I couldn't park there. None of them identified themselves as being from U-Haul. None of them offered any solutions as to where I could park. It is absolutely not my fault that I followed the instructions given to me. The man who was from U-Haul was belligerent and rude. He eventually told me to give him the keys to the truck (he had not, prior to this, identified himself as being from U-Haul and was not wearing any identification or U-Haul-related branding). He didn't say 'Hi', he made zero effort to be civil, he yelled at me for parking in the wrong spot and argued with me as to what the directions on the online portal said. Inexcusable and highly unprofessional.

Staff were excellent and very friendly. My only issue was I was very unsure of where it was okay to park, as it’s very difficult to find parking in the area. Maybe a printed map highlighting free/acceptable parking areas would help others!

I reserved a van from July the 19th to the August 2nd. (14 x 24 hour periods = 14 day rental) I ended up returning it a full 24 hours EARLIER (August 1st before 10am, which the return date was Aug 2nd before 10am) which they had told me I could do and would NOT get charged... however I got charged the FULL 14 days instead of the 13 days of rental fees and insurance. The owner/manager was very RUDE and unprofessional. Argued that the charges were correct and that I was wrong. Very poor customer service, on top of him being absolutely WRONG about the charges.

You need to fix your website or your customer service. The operator deleted my reservation after I called about the website login refusing to validate my account. The people in the pick up location (who have nothing to fo with you) went above and beyond resolving the issue. My positive review is for them, not for U-Haul.

The staff were pleasant even though there was a fair bit of trouble with the IT for a bit. The reason I wouldn't rate this location higher is the fact it's really difficult to find parking in the area. Most of the surrounding streets are permit parking only, resident only or short term (1-2 hr). Space for returns is also tight and a bit challenging to get to.

I used the self check-in feature as the location wasn't open when I needed to pick up the truck. However, there was no information about where the u-haul truck was located. This location doesn't have a dedicated parking lot so their collection of trucks are within a 2 block radius of the store. I'm sure if you're picking up a truck during the store's operating hours it might be an easier experience but I spent 30 minutes walking around the neighbourhood just to find my rental. Other than that the woman I dealt with was friendly upon returning the keys and I was charged what I expected. Only criticism is how unclear and challenging it was to self checkout a van at this location.

the store workers were very rude. the store workers were supposed to deal with mobile pick-up customers first, instead they were managing 3 customers at the same time, the other customers did not do mobile pick up. in uhaul instructions, it states clearly that if you selected mobile pick up, you may bypass the lineup and just take the keys from the store to go get the truck. instead, i had to wait for the store staff to deal with 3 other people (all of whom did not select mobile pick up). the store staff were aware i completed the mobile pick up process, but still asked me to wait. the point of mobile pick up is to be efficient and not wait in lines, this store staff totally defeated this purpose. the truck was also parked three blocks from the store. i arrived at 9:45am to get my truck at 10am. the mobile pick up service did not allow to me start the mobile process until exactly 10:01am. by the time i completed the mobile process, found the truck 3 blocks away, then walk all the way back to the store to get the keys (and wait in line), i was only able to secure my truck at 10:40....i was supposed to be in the truck at 10am. very disappointed overall. when i asked the store staff for an extension on returning the truck due to the fact that i had to walk all the way to the truck and back AND wait in line, they were very rude and said "no sorry, too bad, you have to return the truck at exactly 3pm or we will charge a late fee". i've always had good experiences using u-haul. but this was by far the worst.

I had a terrible experience, but the blame is completely on UHAUL and not the dealer, which was helpful. Truck which I was suppose to pick up was towed because the previous user parked in the wrong spot. Then, after calling the uhaul central, I was sent to the dealer on Renfrew, claiming I'd have a truck, but there was no truck there. Then I was gonna be sent to the Marine drive central, but they only had a van. I had to call back to the first oak Dollar plus store to see if the got the truck back, which they did, and I was able to get the truck (with almost 2 hours delay, and for 2 hours instead of 4). Terrible. Besides that, there is all the car share rates I had to pay to keep jumping from store to store. I'd like a compensation for this awful service. Thank you.

In fact, I had stated upon accepting the vehicle that the vehicle was not clean and i have a picture of the interior cabin. So why am I being charged for this?? I was overcharged 100km. We drove 20km, and the invoice came in saying I drove 120km. It wouldn’t have even been possible to drive that much in Vancouver in under three hours. I was cautious and took a picture of the speedometer when I exited the vehicle and will be looking for a refund.

The service at this location of the uhaul was overall an easy, and quick experience on the account of the owners being so pleasent. If I need to use another uhaul I will delightfully come back as a returning customer based on the people at the location branch . However, I think the ease of future experiences can be solved if the uHaul office specifically made an effort to getting off their cubicle asses and provide this location the proper tools necessary to prevent theft of vehicle keys. This will greatly help in maintaining the integrity of the uhaul locations across Canada if they provided consistent service to the owners of the location. If uHaul can specifically make an effort in providing their locations with proper material, it will greatly improve the experience of future customers.

I made a booking over the phone a week earlier with the man running the branch. I arrive to pick up my vehicle the following weekend and he shows up late and there’s six people in line behind me, only to tell me he doesn’t have a reservation and that he didn’t send me a confirmation email. He said he doesn’t have a van, he’s sorry and makes me drive all the way to Marine Drive and knight from Oak and 16th to get vehicle on my moving day. Thanks! great customer service!

The parking situation is ridiculous. We were told are rental was on the street, not even what street so we were walking up and down searching for the truck. Then when we dropped it off we needed to park on the street with vague instructions and then walk back down an alley and fine a poorly marked mail slot to drop the key off. My daughter was waiting in the alley parking lot and she was confronted by an angry man demanding that she not be there, even though that is were we were told to drop the key, therefore the person needed to be picked up. Ugh! It was very frustrating.

Clean your vehicles before renting to another customer. Also with these non-uhaul locations you should be advised that regular returns are not the same as at u-haul locations. You need to be prepared to do after hours returns even though it is regular business hours. The staff at this location are great though so that made up for the deficiencies.

I am thoroughly upset at my experience with Uhaul and would not recommend them to anyone. Firstly they changed my pick up time with out asking from 10am to 430pm at a different location, stating my vehicle didn't exist. Then after an hour wait on hold on the phone they hung up on me, then in online they helped me find one for 11am at a different location, upon arriving that one did not exist either. Finally I was set up with one where I had to drive across the city to pick it up. It cost me extra 3hrs, extra money and ruined my day. As a person with a disabilty and a baby this was the worst customer service and experience with a moving rental in my life. I would never recommend this to anyone. Ever.

I would NEVER EVER recommend this person Gregory the owner of the store at 3182 Oak street. He came running into the street 2 car lengths away from a busy intersection. Vehicles were piling up behind me and he jumped in front of traffic to tell me to get out of the 15 foot truck which is actually 23 feet in total. And I said dude I still have to pick my belongings up and then I can get out. As this is all happening I wave the vehicles behind me by while Gregory’s still standing in the middle of the road. It’s all very hectic and scary. I told him let me pull the massive truck over abit so I don’t block traffic and it’s safe! He gets mad and starts yelling. So I pull it over and side swiped a little blue car. There is damage to the car but NOT the UHAUL. This guy Gregory then tells me to pull over on the opposite side of the street. I pull over to the opposite side of the street. OH MY GOD!!!! Couldn’t he tell me I pull over on the side of the street in the first place!? There was also an alley behind his store that had a uhaul parked in it, why didn’t he tell me to park in the alley so he could take over the uhaul. He goes back to his store for like 8 mins we are waiting at the uhaul and he’s not around. He comes back and I tried to talk to him to tell him his system is ridiculous and that he should change it because it’s dangerous to expect people to JUMP out of the truck instantly at the busy intersection! I said why couldn’t you tell me to pull over to the side of the road where it was safe or into the alley. He just starts yelling at me saying he didn’t have time for this to give him the fucking keys. He just kept yelling give me the keys, give me the keys. I said I don’t even know who you are!? Are you some random person trying to steal this uhaul? Do you have ID ? He was so rude, and incapable of having a conversation about the crappy service he gave and the unsafe practices that he uses.

The lady at Oak Dollar Plus was absolutely clueless. She had to phone in to sign out the truck to me. I ordered a 10 foot truck and received a 15 foot truck. There was no paper work signed. There was no walk through done. Took a while to hunt down the truck itself as her directions were sloppy. The gas gauge was on empty so I called customer service to let them know. She said that the gauge was recorded as being on a quarter tank which it was certainly not. Then I get billed for 23 plus miles when we only drove 12. Good thing I took a picture of the miles before taking the truck. And now I’m putting in a “request” and have to wait 72 hours to get my money back on my day off. I should be sending you an invoice for my time. All in all a terrible experience. I will not be recommending or using uhaul again.

This location had an unmarked box as the key drop box, which was very confusing. As well, it is easy to miss the instructions in the car and on their door for dropping the key off after hours. These should either be emailed prior to pick-up, or be clearly stated/shown to each customer upon pick up.

You have to park the vehicles in specific and awkward locations otherwise you may be subject to fines up to $75.00?! Really? Also no option to drop the vehicle off to other U-haul dealers/ locations.
