I reserved a truck in Newport on 7/4 for pickup at 1pm on 7/5. At 12:52 someone called to tell me Newport didn’t have the equipment and I had to go to Park Hills. Eight minutes. I was in the car heading there. If it was already rented they would’ve know when they opened not 8 minutes before I arrive. The Park Hills lady was nice but the facility was disgusting. The truck had a broken win that went from one side to the other and fractured up and down. You’re not supposed to drive with a broken windshield but you’re renting damaged dangerous vehicles. Windshields are cheap, get ur fixed before someone gets hurt. This was the last time I will use U-Haul, and I will share my experience with others as well.

The 2 front tires needed to be replaced as they were unevenly balanced and worn down to the steel reinforcement. This was unsafe and illegal and we could have been in a serious accident. I have already sent a message to corporate.

I received a text the day prior, telling me to pick up the truck at 4425 Dixie Hwy: (text) Your U-Haul res 23326457 is sched. at 4425 DIXIE HWY in ELSMERE at 8:00 AM on Saturday, June 22, 2019. Call (859) 342-8170 to confirm. I called this location Friday evening to make sure the truck & trailer were on property, ready to go for Sat am 06/22/19. This location confirmed my reservation to me. I arrived Sat am to get truck. I was told at this location that my rental was canceled & they did not have a truck. I was furious and told the owner (who waited on me) that” I called the night prior to confirm & one of his employees said all was ready for the morning”. Also stating he better find me a truck. He called someone & told me to go to the location that I did pick the truck up from. I had people hired to help me move from Northern Kentucky and different people to unload me in Shelbyville, KY. I never received a 24-48 hr phone call from U-Haul. I don’t know who canceled my scheduled rental. I was beyond furious with the location on Dixie Hwy because I called and spoke with an employee at that location the night prior, being told all was good for pick up Saturday morning. I have not experienced a more disfunctial rental or what the owner on Dixie Hwy had me go thru Saturday morning. I do wish to credit my account for this gigantic hassle. I don’t think I can trust U-Haul for another rental. ( I have used U-Haul for the past 9yrs). Something needs to be done, with who cancelled my rental at that location. Please call me to explain this if it is confusing.

Location not ideal. Wanted to and expected todrop off trailer there, but they didn't have space to park it or room to turn around. Made me drive 25 minutes away to the next closest uhaul location to drop off the trailer.

The back of the truck smelled like stale beer and a partially full bottle of beer rolled out the truck. When I told the lady about the smell she said "oh, that's one of those self check ins " and that's it. Parking lot is extremely crowded since they have a huge boat and camping trailer on the lot. It looks like it is run out of their home. Not at all like other locations I've been to. Won't go back.

I do want to thank the representative who helped us over the phone. I have nothing but gratitude. My experience with online process: I picked up the truck around 7:20 am. The day prior I called to confirm. They said just log in the website it will give you a code and you'll open the box to obtain the key for the truck and that's all you need. Nobody suggested it would be the most difficult process to get that code to open the box. Too complicated online process. It took 30 minutes to open that box. Too long, too many steps. It would've been easier to have somebody at the office that early to give us that key. Thank you.

Gave me the wrong vehicle that cost us more in gas. Rented for 7 days, brought it back during business hours and got charged an 8th day. Make sure you always set the turn-in time to the end of the business day. If you're even a minute late from the time you set, they charge an extra day and corporate will back them up for that. Why even let the user set the turn-in time then and not just say "by end of the business day"? We've never experienced such an asinine scam in all the years we've used uhaul. Entire property is falling apart, lobby is disgusting. Takes 5-10 minutes before someone shows up to the front desk to help anyone. After 7 years using this company, we will be giving our business to Budget and we recommend you do so as well.

We had an excellent visit with a very helpful attendant. Despite the fact that I was running late on returning the truck she kept her composure and treated me great. I would definitely refer this location for rentals and despite having one right down from where I live, I will return to the Park Hills location.

The inside was very dirty and greasy. Picked up a couch, which as cream color and had black grease on it from the back of the door. And the door was very tough to close. I was the only one who could pull it down and it should take a grown man. Simple fixed though, clean inside and back of door and put some white lightening the rail tracks. The lady at the desk was very nice and helpful, she gets 5 stars and why I would recommend this location to others.

Move vehicles blocking the entrance. Fill potholes in the middle of the parking lot. Provide a designated area for parking large trucks, the space is small with storage units surrounding the parking lot. It is very difficult to manover.

A 6 hour rental for a 15’ truck is ridiculous. It takes two people at least 6 hours to load and unload a 15’ truck. Next time I won’t use uhaul. And the rental office stank.

I wouldn’t recommend Uhaul to anyone!!! Changed my pickup location and didn’t notify me. An hour late getting started and it rained on us the last 30 minutes cause our stuff to get wet. Incompetent bunch of idiots!!!

Currently having an issue whereas my bank has received a second charge for the total amount of rent etc which has caused an overdraft of my account which has also caused one of my utility payments to be returned and am now may have my service disconnected, SUPER dissatisfied with the entire U-Haul experience

The process was quick and easy as long as your upfront information is in place and you communicate prior to your arrival. Everything went very smooth. One recommendation, I was never able to assess from u-haul at any location the average miles per gallon i would be expecting. Pretty surprised when i calculated about 12 miles to the gallon with the 22 ft u-haul rider that I rented. Packing ourselves and hiring Gulliver's Movers for packing the truck was the most economical and best thing we could have done. They were quick, considerate and very careful. Moving is always tough but when you work with and hire professionals the whole thing seems so much better. Thanks to all!

This location was not the first location I visited. The original reservation was at a much more convenient location. There, the person who waited on me was rude and unaccommodating. I am very unhappy with the Uhaul on line reservation system and think it is deceptive in the way it schedules available vehicles. This situation cost me additional miles and frustration. If I have to travel this far to get the vehicle I need I will be considering other truck rental firms because now they are more cost effective than Uhaul.

When I booked truck was suppose to be 79 cents per mile was charged 99 cents per mile. Once we pulled truck out tire light came on stopped and put air in tire. Tire had 30 pound of air needed to go to 70 very unsafe driving on such a low tire. Woman at rental was nice and truck had good air conditioning. Roy Adkins

My only recommendation would to remove the utility dolly and furniture pads from the back of the truck when the customer does not request them. Having them fastened to the wall in the end of the truck effectively eliminates the last couple feet of space in the back of the truck, and the only option if you truly need that space is to break the seal and pay for a dolly/pads you didn’t want.

I do like the owners of this location. But I’m sadly disappointed by the customer service. I just want to clarify the return time I returned the truck at 6:30pm. I realized I stated 4 hr use but brought it back on two and would like my receipt to be accurate. I dropped the key in the box because you closed at 5pm but took a picture of Odometer upon return in your lot. I would like to state a concern for the future please, maybe a courtesy call to say you Don’t have the truck I reserved via credit card etc. online, before I arrive and wait 30 min, to then with no choice because I need a truck to use a larger truck because it’s all you have on the lot. It was too big for what we needed and our items moved around inside way too much. We could not tie them down due to how fragile the paint was still on the item. I live close and I truly like the owners and want to continue to rent from you, but please for the future call me if you don’t have the truck I rent, give me the option and maybe please assist with quickly locating another truck at another location to fill my request?
