I wanted to return the U-Haul truck the same night and confirmed before reserving with the person who called that the drop off was 24/7. However, when I got there, the parking lot was gated shut and the link they sent me for mobile check out did not work. When i called customer service, I was on hold for 40 minutes. I was not going to and should not be expected to parallel park the 10 foot truck in the narrow streets of Philadelphia so I went to drop it off at a different location (1015 S 12th St) that wasn't gated shut. I left the truck there and the next morning at 7 am when they opened, I called and asked if I could leave it there. The woman I spoke with was incredibly rude and said I could absolutely not leave my truck there and needed to come get it immediately before it was towed away. She did not listen to me when I told her that it was U-Haul's fault for telling me that the drop off location I selected was 24/7 mobile drop off. I called customer service again in the morning immediately after and was on hold for another hour. Right when I had gotten the truck out of the lot of 1015 S 12th St, customer service answers after an hour and switches the drop off location to the one I just left. When I got the truck back to 1015 S 12th St, the same woman I spoke to previously was so incredibly rude that she made a young girl who had just moved to a new city after driving for a whole day cry. She said that she didn't care what customer service said and that customer service's job is to make the customer happy. She was not willing to take my truck even though U-Haul customer service had switched the official location of the drop off to where I was. She said she wasn't taking the truck because their parking lot was completely full and didn't have space for another truck so she refused to check it in and she said there was nothing she would do to help me and threatened me that if I left the truck at their lot that I would be fined for towing fees. She forced me to take it back to the other parking lot. My entire return experience with U-Haul was horrendous and I deserve some sort of compensation. I will spread the word to other consumers to go with other truck rental companies because it is not worth it to deal with the nonexistent customer service.ARETHA O.

After hours drop off: very poorly marked, very small lot, in a pretty sketchy neighborhood. The UHaul app was very easy to use for checkout. Better signage for the drop off lot would be helpful, otherwise it was serviceableTimothy H.
I have rented a Uhaul from another philadelphia location in the past and had a good experience. However, the Greys Ferry location I picked up my Uhaul from this time was a negative experience. It was dirty and smelled like cigarette smoke, and one of the staff members was creepy.SARAH C.

Open sooner. My pickup location was unexpectedly changed at the last minute the night before via text only. I was informed I couldn't pick up my truck until 2,5 hours later and in another location all the way across town. This impacted everything about move day (i.e. movers I hired, loading dock reservations, traffic, etc.) Just an all around horrible and not customer friendly experience all around. The only person that was good to me was the gentlemen who got me the keys and supplies at the new pickup site.Michael G.

We walked in at 12:11 pm and spoke to the man sitting at the front desk and let him know we were there to pick up a scheduled reservation for a U-Haul 10 ft truck at noon, and asked him what did we have to do and he said â€œ looks like there's a line â€œ and pointed over the other side of the room where there was a woman sitting and so we sat behind her and we waited for about 15 minutes until we finally asked the same man again about The U-Haul we were scheduled to pick up at noon. He looked annoyed but this time, the man went and got another worker and this worker was very helpful. He got us set and on our way thankfully because had we just waited in line like the man directed us to do, we'd probably still be there waiting.Brian B.

Couldn't check the truck back in when I was supposed to because the website and app wouldn't load anywhere. I'd advise doing website maintenance at times people are less likely to try and use that system. The worker checked the truck in the next morning for us which was super niceJennifer G.

You guys need to update your system. When I went to pick up my truck I had to go to two different locations. Same thing happened when I had to drop it off. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!Maria G.
My phone was linked to the uhaul account, but was dead before we dropped off the uhaul. Because we dropped it off after hours, no one was able to sign into the app (needed a verification code sent to my phone) and we had to wait to â€œofficiallyâ€ end the reservation until my phone was charged. It didn't end up being an issue, but I wanted to suggest that perhaps the secondary phone number given at the time of pickup could be used for drop off as well. It would have saved us some stress. I waited an hour to get the truck. Short staffed and not fast. The guy who waited on me was nice enough. Tried to add insurance and I told him to take it off. I did like that he told us to take pictures of the truck of pre existing damage. He also disinfected the drivers side for Covid which I liked.Zulf M.

Staff couldn't find my rental info, wasn't wearing a mask, no process for infection precautions, truck was barely sanitized. Took nearly two hours of waiting to get the rental. The uhaul price is absolutely insane for a one way trip that less than a year a go was 1/6 of the cost! This is total price gouging! In addition to the fact that there is zero standard sanitation process at the Uhaul establishments during a pandemic.Jennifer M.

My vehicle was in very poor and UNSAFE condition. Before leaving the U-HAUL pick-up location, I had the representative check the back trunk sliding door and he confirmed it was good to go. After loading furniture from my first location, I drove about 5 minutes and the 10-foot moving truck's sliding door flew open in the middle of a busy Philadelphia street! I had to pull over in the middle of the busy street (halting traffic) to then pull it back down and tie the back with a metal wire. I then drove off and then 2 minutes later while driving, the back trunk sliding door flew open AGAIN! The passenger with me then proceeded to ride on the back ledge of the trunk, holding the sliding door down while I drove 3 blocks to our destination. The downside to this location was that I couldn't leave my vehicle. I had to park elsewhere and walk back to uhaul- which I didn't feel safe doing- but had no other choice The man who helped me was great and extremely kind and knowledgeable. The vehicle ran great! The price was high- but I needed the truck so I had to do it!Michele H.

Upon returning the uhaul the milage was read incorrectly, therefore entered incorrectly....it was entered that the truck was driven 1000+ miles in 3 days!!!! This came to a charge of 5 000 $+, when the person helping us tried to cancel it to correct it it still tried to charge my credit card, I immediately got a text from my credit card company stating a charge for over 800 $was trying to go through....for almist a week i have been getting these alerts. This has been extremely stressful and i keep getting charges from uhaul almost a week after returning the vehicle. I also needed assistance after having the keys locked in the truck (I had purchased oadside assistance). We waited over 2 hours for someone to come and no ome did, yet they tried to say they came. We had to call numerous times to complain until someone sent out another person, whom arrived within 40 minutes. I have used uhaul before without any problems but this time I have had nothing but trouble and stress even today! I called corporate about the 5 000 $+ charge but they said it never went through yet my card is still being charged / trying to charge me for things. I ha e no idea why I'm being charged days later. I will be calling corporate about these matters. I should be compensated for the stress that I habe endured because of this. I am close to maxing my card out because of this! I had trouble returning the turn with the app that day and this was documented with customer service. I picked up the van with 74 miles used and returned with 101 miles. My issue was not was not with the initial reservation, pick up location, the drop off location (went very well/quick efficient service never had to walk into the building) it was with the confirmation call. I requested 1 location closest to my home for pick up (Northeast Philadelphia- Roosevelt Blvd) and that's where the mix up came. They sent me to another location, but when I requested an email or text to confirm it was totally different location (Tioga) when they told me Germantown. Also, the # provided in the text was a non working #. I had to call a different location (City Line) to confirm the reservation.faith K.
