The staff seemed bothered that we were there to pickup our 10x10 truck nor did they take the time to actually put the utility truck (2-wheel hand truck) in the back of the truck as ordered on the agreement. When I discovered it wasn't there, I called, and they said they would remove it from the invoice. However, when I got to Tennessee to turn in the truck, they HADN'T taken it off the invoice. So, the Uhaul service in South Portland Is not at the top of my list for renting from again!Samuel B.

This location and the staff are great, no complaints there. My only issue was with the UHaul app. I returned my truck after hours and the app would not accept my location no matter what I did. The app refused to let me circumvent the location feature and so I was not able to check the truck back in online and had to call them in the early a.m. Fix the app to let people skip the location step if needed!!!Adinah B.

This has nothing to do with the pick up or drop off site. However, for the second time in a row U haul â€œupgradedâ€œ us to a 6 x 12 trailer when we only needed a 5 x 8 trailer. This was problematic because we were using this to drop off children for college, and the bigger trailers are much more difficult to handle and park and utilize in crowded venues. Just because we had a vehicle that could handle the additional size and told load does not mean that it was an upgrade for us. I think a more concerted effort should be made to give the customer the specific piece of equipment that they request, and not a larger substitute.Douglas P.
Better customer service skills in the office of this location. At the end of turning the truck in, the office person was rude and demanding documentation that had already been provided. Rude! And then he realized he had made a mistake and we were good to go. Tough job, tough customers, no place for rude.William H.
I have opened a claim. I was charge for 37 extra miles. The receipt is stating the truck started with 37 fewer miles than it did. I have been overcharged by 30$ +Ryan E.

The guy was fantastic (super helpful!), but the truck was VERY dirty and I had to gas it up as soon as I left (he was helpful in estimating the gas I would need). This was VERY inconvenient on moving day. I was supposed to have received a discount-- I did not.Mark F.

And that it was not my fault. So my suggestion to anybody is if you're renting a truck definitely search around and make sure you get inside the truck and check it for any type of water damage and make sure you thoroughly ask questions about what the insurance covers and make sure verify that that vehicle is clean whether you are a smoker or not. This is by no means a reflection of 300 Main St. in South Portland this is a reflection of Columbia South Carolina and U-Haul as a whole. How you are just a contract number you are not an individual person and they do not care about your belongings. The representative from customer service told me to go ahead and set the things that were wet off to the side let them dry out and then use them. I'm sorry I can't use a TV that is water damaged because it won't turn on and also I can't use my suitcases because they smell like rotten eggs from the water that was in there. The location was hard to get in and out of, but the customer service and vehicle itself was great!Nathaniel S.
The vehicle was not ready for me at the time that I reserved it. I was told that I could pick up the van after hours but the key was not left for me. I had to wait until the following day during business hours. This location should not offer after hours pick ups if they are not able to honor the reservations customers make online or through the app.Sara L.
The drop off instructions through the uhaul site were somewhat confusing. There weren't any personnel on site as it was around 8pm on a Sunday so we had to do the online drop-off. It was good in terms of being thorough, asking for pictures of the cab and odometer/gas tank.Hayley H.

I reserved a truck a month and a half in advance and was not able to pick up a truck until three days after my reservation. The people at this location were great but this situation could've been avoided. I had also applied for parking permits at my destination that I could not move and a strict move-in deadline I had to meet and frankly, my UHaul experience made this move hellish at best.GABRIELLE L.

The account didn't have any information listed for either phone number/email that we gave. We told the location representative this when we called to extend our rental. Wasn't fixed. Called customer support to try to do truck return after hours and waited on hold for 25 minutes before just dropping the keys and vehicle.Douglas W.

Online reservation system was very intuitive and worked well. Truck was ready when we arrived and after a quick check that all the "Online paperwork" was complete, about 10 minutes, we were. Highly recommended and will do it again.stephen L.

I was not told to replace the gas I used. I was only told it was $.99 a mile. I thought that was including the gas usage as the tank was only at a half tank when I picked it up. I don't think getting charged 60 $for 15 $of gas was reasonable.Anthony D.

We experienced a â€œ Day & Nightâ€ scenario compared to Blake's U-Haul . Blake's used excellent innovation, and was of good spirit as well as helping you in time of need . Showing South Portland U-Haul his clever work , â€œ I wouldn't of bothered! â€œ he said. Then we needed help backing up the UHaul and that seemed to be asking too much . He didn't volunteer for anything - Perhaps training would help with a â€œ customer relationsâ€ course . Retraining is an absolute need for better service @ the South Portland U-Haul .Edward B.

Nothing that I can think of. We rented a van that was in great condition. We had it over a long weekend. The price was good and it was very easy to reserve, pick up and drop off. We'll definitely rent there again!Patricia N.
When I picked up the truck, I told the clerk that we would be returning it after hours, Saturday evening. I was told that we could just put the key in the return box which is what I did in the end. However, upon reading the fine print on the contract, it appeared as though there was a way to check in the truck on line. My attempts to do that resulted in the discovery that a cell phone was required. Since I do not own a cell phone, dumb or smart, that was not an option. Further, it appears I will be charged a 20 $fee for having the attendant check in the truck. I think it would be better for U-Haul to have made that more clear.John M.
I won't be going back to the location. I can't support a business that has Trump and LePage paraphernalia displayed throughout the building. I was also annoyed that they demanded the damage coverage that was optional on the website. If you're going to make it mandatory, state that up front before someone arrives to rent an item.Bethany H.
