The parking lot was a ghost town, but also had several derelict vehicles parked in the lot. Inside was ice cold, no lights and packed with what appeared to be junk/garbage. Staff member did not know how to complete the return via the mobile platform and asked me to assist them. I actually processed my own return using software I was unfamiliar with. That being said, he was very positive and happy that I am tech savvy and was able to perform the task that he could not. I would rather travel to another location where someone more.... competent would be able to complete tasks faster and accurately

Brent WThe man arrived 20 minutes late to open the store. He did not know how to check me in, which trailer I was allowed to take (hooked up the wrong trailer) and he called his boss and made me speak to him to proceed with the reservation. All in all we were over an hour late for this. I had done the online check in, but had to repeat it all to an upset man on the phone despite inputting all the information in my online check in. I had to text photos of the drivers license despite entering all the information prior. Poorly run, poorly organized and very disappointed. Never using this again!
Ralph BIt took almost an hour for them to complete everything for me to take the truck. The one gentleman started washing the inside of the truck 30 minutes after waiting. I ordered a furniture mover, this was not available, and a trolley, which they retrieved from another business. As I was about to drive away, one of them, stop me and proceeded to remove the blankets I ordered and the trolly out and finish washing the inside of truck before I could go again.

Michael WAbsolute nightmare to drop off. The poor guy had no staff and was completely overwhelmed. Ended up just parking the truck and leaving the keys.
sandra nThe gentleman running the store was very nice and but had no idea how to work the uhaul computer system, he required me to get behind the counter and try to complete the rental myself but I could not either. I was not able to complete the rental on my phone as he had already started it on his computer so we had to call uhaul and complete the rental over the phone. This process took well over an hour. We had no problems with the rental once we were able to process the paperwork but I will not return to this location.
Scott SIt took 45min for the man working the desk to process the reservation I had for a rental truck. Then after making me almost 1,5 hours late for everything else I had planned for the day (he took 30min with the guy in front of me) I'm then charged extra for bringing the truck back 1,5hrs late. Where if he had been competent, I could have returned it on time. Then I get the receipt, this man billed me for "miles in" and "miles out" using kilometres, that's a 60 % overcharge! Absolutely unacceptable service. He tried to be nice, but had no clue what he was doing at any time.
Mason LDo better. Staff did not know how to rent me the truck. Tye truck inside was dirty. Tye engine light was on and did not run well at all. The store was full of mold and could barley breathe. Just received my receipt and after multiple chats and phone calls you still made the mistake I was trying to fix... do better uhaul. I won't be back.
Joshua BThis location's owner had NO idea had to use any of the uhaul equipment or the program siting the reason being that "my generation was better with this stuff". He kept asking me how to go use the program and I basically had to do my fumble my way through the system to be able to rent the trailer. It took almost an hour and a half from getting there to being able to leave and that is WITHOUT completing it properly because the touch screen on machine that you're supposed to sign didn't work. When trying to return the trailer today the owner wasn't even at the location even though it was "open". I would never rent from this place again.

Alex PThe guy who works there is a very nice man but it was slow service. Uhaul needs to help this company. Equipment worked as expected. Be aware that when you rent at the end of the day that's one of your days it's not 72hrs from rental. It cost me an extra day of rental. Also uhaul wouldn't rent me a one way from Vancouver to Vancouver Island so the trip cost me an extra $300 in ferry cost. Was disappointed with this experience.

He checked the truck and was pleased with the condition we had left it. Re the condition of the business, well it was cluttered. But we feel his happy heart overrides any deficiencies.

Sandy CWe needed to move from Cumberland to Courtenay. The air quality in the shop was not good. Apparently there was a major water issue and now the building is molding. Robert is doing his best but he does not know how to use his own POS, the customer frequently helps. I went in to reserve a uhaul and it took over an hour and a half. Went to pick up aforementioned uhaul at the agreed upon time off 10 and it was not there. After serving 2 more customers he called the uhaul renter and confirmed they would not have it back until 2. That took another hour and a half. Stayed in town waiting for rental and around 2 headed back. He went to begin paperwork with us and then realized someone had booked the vehicle for 1030 the following day. At this point he no longer wanted to rent us the vehicle. He served 2 or 3 more customers while he basically ignored us standing there. He said he was calling head office at one point and once he called the number, he just stood there holding the phone to his head. After well over an hour he finally decided to rent us the vehicle I had reserved the day before. I will never come back to this location.

sandy cI have emailed already - I was charged a fuel surcharge that I want reversed. 52.32. I filled up the tank to where it was on the gas gage in the truck as discussed and agreed upon with the Rent All Owner. I even put in more than I thought it needed. If your online gage shows differently IT IS WRONG. I would like this charge reversed on my credit card ASAP. The location was excellent but your BILLING is incorrect and not fair as how can anyone be exact when we have a visual in the truck and you have this crazy online gage. This is almost bordering on illegal.

I had to call in to get the previous van and trailer signed back in. So I could sign out the trailer. I almost didn't get my trailer except for the manager on call that day. Upon signing it back in at the end of the day I had to select pay for cleaning to close the app/account. The trailer was clean and I took pics to prove it. Also receiving the receipt contract a month later is very poor buisness practice. I had a terrible experience. I should get a full refund for this experience AND for doing the work that should have been done before I got there. This location should be closed!

KEVIN TDidn't have the truck I reserved, they gave me a larger one that cost me twice as much on the ferry due to size. The guy at the counter was really nice but I had to walk him through the POS system.
Mical DThis was the worst experience I've ever had with a company. Two days before my move was scheduled I got an email saying that my reservation that I had made a month prior was canceled. No reason, just canceled. When I phoned to remedy the situation I was told that there was no longer a vehicle available for my timeframe and I would have to change it. I was supposed postpone for five hours! Fine! When I got the uhaul rental in Courtenay (on McPhee) to say that the buffoon I was to do my checkout with was incompetent would be charitable. It took an hour to finally get the truck and go. So much time wasted! If you have any option other than uhaul, take it! How this company got to be the standard in moving is beyond me. Boooo!

Courtney RThe only person I've ever encountered working there is Bobby. While he's very nice, he is INCREDIBLY slow. I detest going to this location because it always takes 2-3 times longer than any other U-Haul location I've used. Nothing against Bobby, but I've got things to do and he is just too slow. It shouldn't take me 1/2 hr just to check out a trailer that I've already reserved online and made all my selections on! Especially when I'm the only customer in the store!!!

Brian FMaybe your rental vans should be serviced more often. This 15' van broke down during my trip because the battery was dead when I looked at the battery it had a lot of corrosive purple like foam over the connector. I spent most of my time unable to drive the vehicle waiting for Road star who once he started the rental vehicle told me not to turn it off for 1/2 hour (keep running for half hour at least ) today we are having a wind warning stormy day. I had just driven to Cumberland during this time the battery should have charged sufficiently and stopped while my son got food at Gas'n'go then I was going to put gas in the car but it wouldn't start leaving us looking under the hood in lightning and hail. I was not going to risk shutting down this vehicle that clearly has a faulty engine. So I'm really annoyed that I'm getting charged for gas. I believe that it should be complimentary considering these circumstances.

He would help us then switch and leave to help someone else. When we dropped off the truck today, he didn't even remember that he left us standing in the hard rain yesterday holding moving blankets. Weird!

Jami CWell I thought that the end billing was somewhat expensive regarding the cost of the mileage charges. It was the only vehicle around that we could find and it was an old vehicle. Yes it did the job with no breakdowns but $1,59 per mile. Have a nice day.
ROBERT POn the subject of trailers, please provide a larger supply of these as they tend to be in short supply. I have recommended UHAUL to our clients so that they can safely move their prized possessions which include traditional pianos. When one rents a dolly they can move a piano themselves if they take their time using the right equipment. The best trailers are the cargo trailers , which in bad weather offer good protection from the elements. Also, I would pre registering and advance payment to speed up the check in / out process. This is especially helpful when their are local technical issues affecting dealer's connectivity to UHAUL servers.

BILL AThis is the most painful location to rent from. It is unfortunate that customers are still forced to spend hours of their time waiting for Robert when the online pick-up, or pickup from another location is so much easier.
