Make sure your truck is in good working order the gas cap sensor was broken and the check engine light was on. Also make sure to legitimately check the mileage at pickup. The mileage out was suspiciously a 44620. I did the math for my travel and there is no way I drove 18 miles. Also it would be good to have a representative come out and check the vehicle's actual mileage and fuel amount before handing over the keys. I will never do business at that establishment again. Also the two girls were in the office sleeping at the time that I was supposed to pick up the truck. I have a witness that can corroborate my story. You also didn't refund me for the fuel cost after I filled up more than the gauge showed at pick up.Jeremy B.

Staff at desk were great but truck was dirty. Check engine light on. Difficulty getting truck started. Rode rough. When I called to report it I was told it was a "known issue " as if the risk to my safety and the success of my move weren't a consideration when they loaned out the vehicleMELISSA D.

This location helped me out after a horrible experience with U-Haul. Overall, U-Haul deserves nothing more than 2 out of 5 stars. Guaranteed reservation gets taken away because somebody extended their vehicle that *I ALREADY RESERVED* and needed for my move? How is that even allowed?! Then you wait until I get to the pickup location to tell me my vehicle is unavailable, and require me to drive excess miles (like 35-45 min further!) to the next available location. Also, instead of waiving the difference (between U-Haul locations) of mileage, you gave me an inconvenience refund (a whopping 50 $) that was completely negated by the mileage charges that I incurred due to your company's faults. I am in the process of getting my discounted mileage costs, but this was by far the WORST experience I've had with moving, and I will never use this company again.BAYLEYTHOMAS D.

I didn't want to give this location a poor review, because they got most everything right. HOWEVER, we requested a furniture dolly for the move, which was not left in the truck for our after-hours pickup. The whole reason we chose to move the pieces of furniture on that day was because we had enough help to move a piano, for which we needed a furniture dolly. We called the towing company number, and the woman on the phone said that no one was around to look for the dolly. BY THE GRACE OF GOD, one of the tow truck drivers just happened to be stopping by the office while we were on the phone with Uhaul and the towing company trying to track down a dolly. He was very friendly and brought us the dolly from inside the (locked) business. So overall, mostly positive, but I hope the business owners pay more attention to the equipment rentals for future after-hours customers!Andrew S.

Personnel did not know how to hook up equipment. Lights were out, and I had to take the equipment to another location for repairs. I had to repeat the process at the location even though I reserved the equipment online.Leonard C.

No problems with the local agent. They are very small and only have a few trailers. Just happened to have what I needed. They were very easy to deal with. ---- Only issues I had was with contacting the U-Haul company. Very Very long wait on the phone every time I called them. Called to ask why tax was applied to insurance cost, and why the rate was 8 % when the sales tax rate here in Md is only 6 %... The lady who finally answered did not know, put me on hold to ask a supervisor I guess. After more than a half hour, I was still holding... I finally hung up and gave up on getting an answer..... If possible, I will never go U-Haul again... Not because of the local agent, but because of the sorry phone service....David B.

Towing lot - had plenty of space for a drop off. No supplies here. Girl at the desk was very nice and helpful. Weird curb out front at Y shaped intersection could be tough to negotiate in heavy traffic, but you can go up into next lot entrance (Dollar General) and pass down through to the drop off lot. I had the truck reserved for 8:30. When I got there and pulled up the app, it told me I had to pick up the truck at 10 when the place open. After waiting 1-1/2 hours, the person working there told me she switched it and now I had to check in online. She offered no help what so ever.Andrew M.
They gave me the wrong truck then when it was loaded had me drive all the way back to the location and had me unload one truck and re-load all the stuff again onto the correct truck. No one was around to help in this process even though it was their fault I got the wrong truck. I was delayed from leaving for an hour and a half longer than when I wanted to because of this. On top of that none of the things I had paid extra to help me move such as dollies or furniture movers were on either truck.Alex T.

Good concept. My cell phone is really old and kept choking when it came time to submit pictures. The instructions could be a tad more clear ~ picture and license needed for the driver. Usually the person renting and the driver are the same person, but not always. I provided Driver information before we picked up the truck, but it didn't seem to save to my account. Thanks for being on site in case we had issues, sorry for the delay. It might help to have a number to call if we did have issues during check out or check in.Edward H.

I was over charged 18,00 $ for wrong destination.. The manager Chris UHaul 26 K St. NE WDC changed the locations from his store to the one where the truck was dropped off.Solomon M.
Ordered a 5X8 enclosed trailer when I showed up uhaul had a 6X12 for me. Originally this trailer was considered to large for my car to pull. But there were no 5X8's available. There were plenty of them when I ordered the trailer a week earlier. It was a very tough 900 mile pull. Hope uhaul does better next time. The person at southern Maryland towing did try to find one for me.Curtis S.

Actually have the truck ready for your customer and don't send them on a wild goose chase. Give them all the proper equipment that they requested and not what you think they will need. Also, don't call to verify and/or change the location and pickup time the night before.Jaime B.
I reserved a uhaul for after hours. I never received a lock box code and the attendant at the location norm phone customer service were of no help. I had to argue back and forth for 45 minutes just to get keys.Amy H.

I scheduled a pickup for 8 am that was canceled with no advance notice so I reschedule for 10 am when the shop opens. At 10:10 I call the shop and they tell me no one is planning to come in today because the one person they have is sick but they can send someone out. An hour later someone finally arrives and has to still get all of my stuff ready as this was not done in advance. Meanwhile I had movers I paid to arrive at 9 am and didn't get back with truck until after 11 am. Nightmare. Find another moving truck company.MICHAEL R.

My wife picked up the trailer, there was a lady there to rent the trailer, no lift or jack available to lift the trailer to connect it, no help from the lady renting the trailer. They were rude when she picked the trailer up and were rude when I called back with a question about the bill.Rhonda F.

Check-in/pickup took 40 mins, and none of my reservation information was in the system. The staff was excellent, very professional; however, the electronic database seems archaic. The attendant must have entered my information 4-5 different times! After finally having the information successfully entered, I make my way to the truck to find the engine light is on, apparently indicating something is wrong with the truck. I went back inside to inform the attendant only to learn there were no more vehicles I could rent. With a crew waiting for me, I had no choice but to try. It drove rough, with indications of apparent transmission problems. This truck should have been removed from the fleet. When I inquired, I was told they had just dropped it off to the site and said it was fine. It was not!Alkeisha W.

They didn't do a good inspection of the Uhaul before I picked it up. Trash under the seat that came out when I applied the brakes. After, I loaded it for my trip, found out that no windshield fluid to clean the windshield and the driver side wiper blade was torn. I'm glad I didn't run into rain. I was told that I could get a military discount, well when calling Uhaul they said they don't do that, and they told me that if I turn it in I would get money back if I didn't use it for the whole 3 days, that wasn't correct either. i believe OJT needs to be given to the personnel working at the locations or at least a hand book for procedures.Richard H.
I was given a truck with the Service Engine light on. Brought it to the person that took care of me and she made a phone call. The person she called said "it was OK" "It had just came back from the shop and the light was on, but they had leased it out a few times already and it did fine". After loading it and taking it to where it was going to stay for the night (my house, 6 miles away), it started to run hot. The gauge was going from normal to H. I called SO MD Towing back, and the same girl advised it was probably just the gauge, it should be fine and to just keep it. I asked her to check with whomever she called before and let me know what she found out. I never received a call back. I left for Ocean City the next morning. The truck started hesitating from time to time, but was doing ok until I got to Easton. In Easton it had trouble getting going, but once it got up to speed it did OK. I googled Uhaul near me and came up with the East New Market location and decided to stop there. After setting at a light in Cambridge, the truck started doing very poorly loosing power. I managed to make it to the East New Market location and was taken very good care of by Tammy. After I got there, I called So Md Towing back and advised them I had broke down and their only comment was, "ok thanks" No I'm sorry to hear that or is there anything we can do.
