Hi, After trying to check in through the app, I did it through the merchant. I picked up the van at 3/8 tank I dropped it off at 3/8 tank He argued with me saying that it's not 3/8 then charged me gas. I want my money back.

There's no guaranteed parking on return which is a huge issue. You need a reserved space just for U Haul. City parking is a challenge. When I reserved I said I would return at 9:00pm. I am a woman and that location is "questionable". I am shocked you would allow a 9pm return with no guaranteed parking. The pick up process took over 45 minutes due to the app having issues, which caused delay with my other vendors costing me more money in delayed time due to U Hauls system not working on pick up. NOT SATISFIED.

The store owner was incredibly helpful, they let me know that I could park my car in the spot where the U-Haul was so I didn’t have to worry about where to park my car or where to return the van to as well. The steps on the check in take a while to load but were not unreasonable steps to go through. I was unable to send a picture of the before gas level which actually was at ½ and not 9/16 but since we only drove 2 miles total and the gas fee was $4 it was not a problem or a big deal at all. Please pass along my thanks to the store owner for their help before and with returning the van. Thank you!

My experience was unsatisfactory. I had a 12pm-2pm reservation. I arrived at 12:15pm and was unable to access the lockbox until I called the U-Haul customer service line. Upon returning to drop-off the car, there was another car parked in the U-Haul's spot. After another 15 minute phone call I was told to park the U-Haul elsewhere. I then had to make yet another phone call because I could not access the lockbox to drop off the keys to the U-Haul. I was instructed by a customer service representative to bring the keys back the following day. In total, I had to make multiple phone calls (totaling at least 30 minutes) in order to merely pick up a U-Haul van to move one item.

The people renting the truck had no idea how to do anything. It took 30 minutes to pick up and another 30 minutes to drop off the van. There was also no parking available when I went to return the van. It was not clear that I was renting from a liquor store.

Took an hour to get the truck, and an hour To return it. Absolutely would not recommend. Not to mention that I had pre checked in with all my card info and they took forever to re enter the info and cut into my rented time. I would like to speak to someone at U-Haul about this “authorized location.”

I bought a bed, and I HAD to pick it up the next day, as the person I bought it from was moving out. I also had to work at 3:00pm. So I had that morning to pick up the truck, go 5 miles, an take the bed to my place. Plenty of time... you’d think. However, once I got to the location, they didn’t have my reservation. (UHauls fault- not the locations.) They tried to work with me on it but we couldn’t figure out what we could do as UHauls system wouldn’t work. So I had to call coustomer service. After being put on hold for nearly 45 minutes, I was told there wasn’t really anything that could be done. I waited 2 hours. Almost didn’t get the bed. Almost wasted $150. Almost didn’t make it back to work. And wasn’t even offered a refund or discounted truck- instead, I was charged more than originally stated. This was my first UHaul experience and it took a lot of the joy from my moving day... very disappointed.

The clerk in the market was very friendly and helpful. The online pickup system was easy to use. The only thing that was confusing was that the app said the key was in the lockbox but actually it was in the store with the clerk.

I was very frustrated with the quality of the mobile app. It consistently froze and due to this, we were unable to pick up our U-Haul until 30 minutes after we arrived at the location (even after we had already reserved the truck online). Thankfully, the customer support allowed us to keep the U-Haul for an extra hour to make up for the time spent on the frozen app. Similarly, it took 20 minutes to drop off the U-Haul when we dropped it off due to app issues. Also, there was no mention on the quote page when I checked out online that we would be charged for gas, even though we were already paying per mile. This felt very dishonest as the initial quote listed $35 total for the rental when we ended up paying over $70. Would likely not use this service again.

The idea of self service is great, the UHaul experience is not. Picking up the van resulted in 45 minutes of being on the phone waiting for a customer care rep to help get the key out of the lock-box after the website self service failed, but somehow my reservation became active. When self service checking in the van the location didn't have any parking including loading zones to drop the vehicle in, and then when entering the milage it required a decimal point. The car doesn't use a decimal point in it's milage, so it took awhile to figure out i needed to enter a .0 at the end to get the app to accept my milage. It seems like things are barely passable for self-service, and with some improvements it could be doable. The next rental i make will not be using a self-service vehicle, or location.

Used the app reservation pick up and though it would be easy. It was easy to use but at the end of the transaction it said to go to the sales associate to get the key. There was a lock box out side and i though it would give me the code so that i could just get the key and go. Unfortunately for me the store was closed and there was no one to help get they key. I stood outside for 30 minutes waiting for the person to show up at the 9am open pick up time. He casually strolled in at 930 and asked, "Didnt you get the code" I showed him my phone where it says "GET THE KEY FROM SALES ASSOCIATE". He then gave me the key. Great idea but very poor execution.

It was very hard to find a parking spot near the market. I had to drive in circles for about 20 minutes as there is no dedicated spot for the van to go and very few street parking spots that are large enough. Also, when I picked up the truck the key was not in the lock box but was instead in the store - a minor thing, but why could the key not just have been where it was supposed to be? It added on a few more minutes to pickup in order to straighten it out. Finally, the whole system for picking up the van and verifying my identity was inconvenient. I wish I had been warned ahead of time that uhaul would need to contact two additional people to verify my identity in addition to my license and photo. It took a while for me to call around and find friends/family that could answer a phone call from uhual while at work. If I had known how much trouble this would all be I would just have gone further out of my way to pick a van up from an actual Uhaul location.

When I rented the van online, there was nothing that indicated that it was a self-pickup location. So when I got to the location I expected to be able to pick up the key and had no idea there was a full process that needed to happen before I could use the van. Also, the person inside Stewarts market was extremely unhelpful and was not at all interested in helping me figure out this issue - the only thing he told me was that I should have a lock box code and if i didn't then there was nothing he could do for me. I was able to reach someone at uhaul on the phone (after an extremely long hold time) and they explained the issue. Then once I was finally able to go through the online process to get the key, when i got to the final step, which specifically instructed me to open the lock box on the passenger side of the van, I opened the lock box but the key wasnt in the box. I then went back inside the store, just to find out that the key was sitting inside the store behind the register the whole time. The whole process to get the van took me over an hour, which is completely unacceptable. Then, when I brought the van back to the location, it was nearly impossible to find parking and again the person inside the store was not at all helpful. I am extremely disappointed with this uhaul experience and will not be using uhaul again.

Our our pick up was delayed due to a issue with the self serve system. We had to redo the reservation process inside the corner store- which was very helpful but we were frustrated that our reservation pick up was not as smooth as we thought it could be.

Most aspects of my experience went very well. The self serve pickup experience was easy, the van was clean and in great shape. However, there is no parking lot at this location and so upon bringing the van back I learned that I was expected to find street parking for it. San Francisco is notoriously difficult to park in and this is an absurd thing to require of your customers. It is seriously ridiculous. Lesson learned, I will not rent from a uhaul location that does not have reserved parking for it's own vehicles ever again.

The service must be absolutely polite and respectful to the customers, and this is not an option!!! When a client made a reservation ahead of time the truck should be there when he or she arrived at agreed uopn time!

Nazir, is a very nice, courteous man. He is the owner of the grocery corner location. However, the computer system he uses (either delays on his end or... on your end) takes a very long time and causes a long wait.

I booked the truck for 5:30 & wasn't given the keys until 6, then was told that even though I'd booked it for 6 hours, I had to have it back by 11. So I only had it for 5 hours. I rushed and got everything done, and upon my return the uhaul agent told me that I had to find a park for the truck. In San Francisco. At 11pm. Interetingly, even though I google mapped the route which was 31 miles in each direction, and did not divert from this route, I was charged for 90+ miles. During the pick-up and drop-off, the uhaul agent wasted over an hour of my day. He was unfriendly and would serve his corner shop customers instead of finishing our transaction. I will not be hiring from this location again, and am very dissatisfied with the transaction overall.

Van was filthy and could barely see through windshield. Tried washing it at gas station but couldn't reach center so visibility was terrible and I had to drive at night. Interior smelled like smoke and there were sunflower seeds all over floor.

There should be saved, designated parking spots for the Uhaul return. Luckily we were able to find a spot after some time, but if not...would we have been charged for the mileage of driving around looking for a parking spot? Also, we were not able to leave the key in the drop box because we were not given a code at the end of the rental period. We were forced to give the key to the liquor store attendant. I understand you also need to photos of the person driving and the license, etc. But Uhaul should request the prep work done BEFORE the rental period begins. Having to wait for a live attendant to verify is very frustrating and slow. Wasting time during rental period.
