There isn't anywhere to park. We had to park on 18th which was recommended but didn't feel entirely safe and it's a long block to walk around. The people who work here are great, just needed a better place to park.

bobby R.Although the staff when we went to pick up the truck was friendly and helpful, the previous manager did not have the truck ready when it was supposed to ( for an early pickup), and we had to wait for the morning crew to arrive. This led to a misunderstanding about the fuel level, and we ended up paying to fill a quarter tank, after only driving 18 miles. I asked about a credit for this, and was told to contact the UHaul area sales manager. So far, my call has not been returned. The location has a tiny parking area, and the track was backwards to traffic, and so difficult to get out and going. So, the physical location was the major issue. Again, the people we dealt with at pickup were very friendly and helpful, but we all missed the fact that the fuel tank had not been filled.

Cassie P.Your mobile check in/check out system is so incredibly frustrating. It took me an hour totally to get both checked in and checked out while I stood in the cold. It doesn't work in all browsers and there's no indication of what browser someone should use for the best experience. When I tried to call customer service for help I was left on hold. Totally unacceptable. Also, using a mobile check-in service should be fast. Don't use it as an opportunity to try to sell me things I already told you I didn't want when I put in my reservation.

Judging from reviews, local U-Haul franchises can be hit or miss when it comes to customer service. I can recommend this one (on SE 17th x Holgate).

Somehow my reservation was for online pickup which I did not want. I spent over 2 hours calling for help and no one could give me a solution which delayed my move.
chris F.you might consider leaving a users manual in the car, for people that aren't as familiar with the automatic form of labeling the gears. and perhaps warn them of the blind spot in vision in the diagonal. this van is ideal for moving things in storage. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to use this vehicle. Merci.
Jeanne C.The only thing is that the van's dashboard had an "oil change needed" message. I did report that to the office before I left and there were no other vehicles on-site, and we were assured that it would be fine. However, I was surprised at the gas mileage and wonder if the van needing an oil change might have impacted how the car was running? We drove approximately 60 miles and the care went through almost a half a tank of gas.

Marissa Z.I reserved the truck online to save time, uploaded documents, etc. Was given the choice to check in with person, or do self check out. I chose person. When I arrived, I was told in-person check in was not an option, and I had to do self-check out. So, standing in the parking lot, and fussing with my dumb phone, I had to create an account and do everything while standing next to the truck. Such a pain in the butt. I wasn't able to provide any documents there (because they were all at home), I provided phone numbers for verification, and it felt like it took forever to get verified because I was standing in the parking lot the whole time. I wish I had been told online that my only option was self-check, and I could have completed it all from home before I even got there.

I was having difficulty doing my online contactless check in and he helped walk me through all of it and eventually transferred my reservation over to a physical one so I could pick up my van. He was kind and totally helped me out on a stressful day! He rocks!
Amelia A.The location was great and the person working there was helpful. I had problems with check in, though. The app wouldn't give me the "check in" button and that took 10-15 minutes to show up. Then the confirmation process got fouled up because the app got confused about my phone numbers. I had JUST rented a van the day before. Maybe allow the confirmation process to last more than one day or even a week.

Marco A.We were under the impression that the online checkin would be the only thing we needed to do, and we could drive away soon after the scheduled pickup time. It did take us about twenty minutes to complete the process that started after the “Pickup your truck†button was clicked, which wasn't a problem other than we weren't expecting it and did end up needing to extend the rental time. It was really easy and free to do this, and when we decided we needed some moving help as well, it was easy and the movers arrived within a couple of hours. I would definitely recommend this as a simple and affordable way to move, although I would definitely add a few hours to the initial reservation. It costs the same regardless, and the representative we talked to on the phone was helpful and nice.

Also, I was charged for the pads I didn't use and for a dolly I didn't order. I had to ask for a credit, which was given, but frustrating. The truck ran fine but sounded like it was dying.

Looks bad for U-haul. I would rate the rental location experience fine, but the overall U-haul experience "below average"
