U-Haul holding funds policy is beyond reasonable and has absolutely no purpose. First of all, if SAFETOW is purchased then why hold funds? I rented a utility trailer plus safe tow for $500.24 including tax. Upon returning June 8th (16 days ago) I had a promissory note of $83 because I had a previous deduction of $417 plus two separate holds totaling $405 (grand total of $822). Any reasonable human being should expect for a company to simply deduct the balance of $83 from the $405 on hold right? No, upon numerous calls to U-Haul 1-800 they said they can’t do that because the monies on hold are only for THEFT (wtf)! Plus to add insult to injury rep told me they were going to impose a $30 late fee for not paying promissory note. I yelled at her that they already have $822. I gave up to trying to understand their illogical and unethical business practices for one, what is the purpose of the hold then? If in the event of theft then if SAFETOW is purchased no hold should be necessary. I gave up and last week I paid an additional $83 to cover promissory note. So a total of $905 has been applied. Yesterday I checked my bank and they charged/deducted (not hold) another $113.49. I have screenshot pictures of all transactions that posted and not on hold. I guess I have no choice but wait 30 to 60 days for them to credit. Why? U-Haul rep told me that “they” don’t place monies on hold, that it’s the bank that decides when. I called IBC and they reassured me it’s U-Haul. That it always U-Haul that blames them and bank was willing to 3 way call them. We called U-Haul and U-Haul rep didn’t want to cooperate. She said they don’t talk to banks. This is my review. First time using U-Haul and last time I will. And will seek a class action lawsuit on funds/holds business practices.
