The reservation was originally made for Effingham, IL, not Altamont, IL. I had rented a 10ft truck to be picked up in Effingham, IL which was moved to Mattoon, IL. This additional mileage ended up costing me more money! The adjustment to at least pick up the uhaul truck was made and was given a 20ft truck out of Effingham. The Altamont location went above and beyond to help and even provided me with tools to take a piece of furniture apart when it would not fit in the ubox. My ubox was scheduled to arrive in Brooksville, Fl and the day before arrival I noticed that it had been moved to Hudson, FL, which again cost me more money to pick the box up. I called the 877 Uhaul number to arrange for delivery and delivery was arranged. I did not find out until the next morning that delivery could not be completed.On 7/8/20, when my ubox arrived at the Hudson location, I once again called the Uhaul number that I was provided to arrange for pickup. They made ONE call to the Hudson location and informed me that they could not get ahold of anyone and gave me another number to call. This number got me a gentleman on his cell[hone, who could do nothing but provide me with another number who gave me another number to call. Needless to say, 4 phone calls later and I still received no confirmation on picking up my ubox until 5:30pm on 7/9/20. The staff at the Hudson location were nice and helpful but there is a serious breakdown in communication. Thankfully, after having to spend the extra money because of all of the additional driving that had to be done, all of my stuff arrived in perfect condition. Would I recommend the Ubox service to anyone? Maybe, but they definitely need to double and triple check all arrangements before putting the lock on the box!!!

I was given the worst truck availabe to move 4300 miles. It broke down twice on the way and and had to be hauled the last 200 miles. We were told the tow driver picked up the truck at 10 am. for a four hour drive but the truck did not arrive until after 8 p.m. Then there was no help available to hire for unloading.

My experience with Mark at the uhaul in Altamont with very pleasant, and he was very personable and helpful. However, I only ended up working with Mark after an extremely frustrating experience working with John at the uhaul at 1205 N Keller Rd, Effingham, IL 62401. Our reason for needing uhaul was due to our Boy Scout trailer breaking down south of Effingham. We were stranded on a busy road, four hours from home, in need of immediate assistance, and trying to work through our options. John would not give me a quote on the cost until I provided him with name, address, what I was pulling with, email, etc., even after I explained my situation and requested that I just get the cost estimate so we could make a decision, he insisted he had to have it before he gave me the cost. Once he got to the cost he was wishy-washy on the actual total. We decided the uhaul was our best option, so I called him back to tell him we'd be there in 15 minutes. At that point he insisted on getting all the information on the vehicle we'd be pulling it with (which was parked a half mile down the road from me and I did not have). I asked that he get that information when he got there, but he refused saying he couldn't guarantee the trailer without it. At that point, I asked if there were other uhauls in Effingham and he said that there was and I was welcome to call them instead....which lead me to Mark in Altamont (a really great guy who was able to assist us easily). John should be trained in customer service, or removed from customer contact. Respectfully.

Was disappointed was given a quarter of tank of gas well we filled it up and it was still on full so it had 3 times the gas in it then it did when we got it . We got told they couldnt credit us for the gas or take off any of the miles so my 61 dollar uhaul trip turned into 111 trip and I know the next person that uses it will get told to bring it back on full so they just made extra money . I will probably never use a uhaul again because of this . I feel like is was unkind .

The pickup location was great. I reserved the truck 2 weeks in advance then a couple days before a rep called and said the closest truck was almost an hour away and it was my fault which it was not. The next rep explained to me that I should have called corporate and the work from home people didn't know what they were doing. Now I have an extra charge on my bill because someone else made a mistake and I have to waste up to 3 days to get it back? My experience was very frustrating.

I was originally to pick up a 15 foot truck at Paradise Inn in Effingham Illinois. I called the hotel in advance to let the man know that I would be there to pick the truck up right after i get off work, at 2:00pm on Monday July 2323rd 2018. He told me that he would be there. After getting there, no one was around, I called the hotels number twice, left a message. I called a Springfield Illinois UHAUL number. I spoke to a very nice lady, I believe her name was Patty or Penny I know her first name started with a P. Kind of a gruff voice. SUPER nice. She hooked me up with a Uhaul truck in Altamont Illinois. Charged us a price we couldn't refused, plus an added 50.00 for our inconvenience. Thank you so much for helping me out. The lady from Uhaul that was in Springfield Il, and the man from the Do-It home center in Altamont Il were the nices people. They made our stressful day a lot better. A big Thank you to them. I looked into several uhaul locations before choosing this one. The process of reserving our uhaul and giving them our contact info took no time at all. We were in and out within 30 minutes. After getting home we realized we chose too big of a truck. I called them and they fixed it for us immediately. They are very professional and I definitely recommend them if you are in need of a uhaul!

Tried to rent from another U haul center in Effingham. That place was a joke. They could not tell me if I was going to have a trailer when I made reservation 2 weeks in advance. Called Altamont center and the people went above and beyond to find me a trailer. Everything went very well tenting from them. More than satisfied.
