The guy who took care of my rental was super sweet and helpful. He was patient and knew his job well. Ther office was crowded when I arrived but he quickly and evidently took care of everyone. There was even a customer who he needed extra patience with. Lol. And he took good care of her and she left satisfied.

The customer service was outstanding. The truck was a piece of shit. The cabin was filthy. Moreover, the truck performed as if it was on it's last leg. It hesitated, did not accelerate, and the check engine light appeared during the trip. I didn't think I would make it back.

You should have been able to provide the 1/2 dozen furniture pads as promised... “ they’ll be waiting for you inside the truck “... Instead I heard “sorry the Pads are available on a first come first served basis”... But i was there early , which means no one else today could get any pads either .. Worse , they weren’t apologetic And we were stuck !

Ian was great however our rental was not ready and accessible via mobile @7a Ian was in early fortunately and was able to fix our order which had been done properly. Don’t know why it wasn’t avail but he fixed things - delayed by 45 minutes

I arrived at 755am, for an 8am opening. I had completed the express check out prior to arriving. I did not get my van until 9:20am. The single person on duty was 8 minutes late to open. One person was in front of me. That person took 40 minutes to process. The new it was my turn. I got keys to a van parked behind 4 other vans. After 20 minutes of the attendant moving vans around and looking for keys, a supervisor stepped in and switched my van number to one in the front. So much for express check out.

Horrible experience. Didn’t get the location I booked. Very far. Was not open on time. Guy was late and threw off my entire schedule. If it is suppsed to open at 8am, not opening until 8:45am is completely unacceptable.

The after our lockbox for pick up of the key wouldn't work. Therefore I had to wait from 6:30 a.m. To 8:00 a.m. for the business to open in order to get the key for my truck. When I got my truck and arrived at my destination none of the equipment I ordered was in the vehicle. No hand trucks, no dollies, and no wraps, nothing. If you want to improve the service try highering people who are committed to completing orders in a timely fashion and with professionalism.

When I picked up and delivered the van, there was no one in the office so it was a bit disconcerting. The van was not clean inside with lots of food crumbs all over the cab. The van itself worked perfectly. There is no way to know how much gas you need to put in to fill it back to the level you received it. I left the van with 3times the amount I received the van and only got $5.00 back. It would be much better if the vans are rented with a full tank. I only had 1:8th of a tank when I received it. If I had returned it with 1/4 tank I would have gotten $17.00 back, but how can one know what makes that amount? Personel were very nice and friendly.

Our U-Haul experience was awful until we got here. The man who was working on Nov. 3 and 4 made The Who.e experience bearable. Thanks goes to him and the customer service rep who reimbursed our $50 reservation guarantee when unable to reach the original location.

The mobile app needs to be redeveloped, it crashes and freezes and I could not process my checkout, and checking in was a hassle. Even using Safari on the iphone did not work - whenever I'd snap a picture, it would crash.

In NYC is always unfair to rate places where you drop a truck, space is a limitation... for me this location is convenient because of the geographical location. Not the best looking office but it works for me.

My original reservation was at the 117th and 1st Ave Shell Gas Station- that experience was really really bad and unprofessional and I think U-HAUL should cut ties with that location. I was able to get Luis on the phone who was great and he connected me with David at this location. I jogged over to this new location, David was excellent, hosed out my truck when I asked him to, and was overall professional and easy to work with. In summary- David and Luis were great. The 1st Ave Shell station was so unethical and rude and unhelpful that I would never rent a truck from them again. I don’t think they are genuinely good people.

I had to rate this spot average as it was a bit chaotic to return the truck due to NYC street cleaning. It is to expected in Manhattan though. It is out of the hands of the personnel at the location whose fast and friendly service was fantastic.

Get your staff, trucks and vans together!! No dollies to use, no furniture covers to borrow/rent, and the man working the desk was ok but, had an altercation (verbally) with a storage rental customer. Very unprofessional :-(

I rented a vehicle for after hours. 6pm to 10pm. Got back to the location with full tank and the van in the same condition. They have a garage located right next door, but are doing business under urgent instead of u haul. Told to drop the van there and the same guy who gave me the van and said to drop it off was there. So. Head on home. Woke up saw that I was charged an extra 27 dollars for dropping it off to their location. And after hours. Remember I picked it up after hours so I was charged twice for this. My advise when you walk in set your phone to record everything said because the customer is not always right. Shady business practices for sure.

I reserved a truck at a different, easily accessible location, weeks in advance. I was notified at the least minute that they would not honor my reservation. They could not be bothered to drive the truck across Manhattan to have it ready at the location where I reserved it. The truck was not full of gas. They couldn't be bothered to have it full of gas and ready to go. This is a scam to get the value of extra gas customers leave in the tank when they return the vehicle. The manager demanded private information unrelated to the rental, and essentially accused me of planning to steal the vehicle, including information for family members (he first claimed it was for emergencies, then claimed it was because they believed I would steal the vehicle) and my address (which they have no need to know). As a former prosecutor, having provided my credit card number and license, both of which are adequate for law enforcement purposes, had I been planning to steal the vehicle, which I did not plan to do, and would have constituted interstate grand larceny, I found this disturbing and outrageous. I have rented from UHaul for decades. I will never rent from UHaul company again.

Pick up location changed minutes before the assigned pick up time to a place on the other side of town. This meant I had to also drop it off away from the original drop site. The whole affair was downright insulting. There appeared to be a substance resembling sputum near the steering column. In the future I will take every possible effort to not use U-Haul.

Customer service was horrible. Front desk clerk at return was rude and condescending- he was making fun of me for complaining about backing into a tight alleyway off a crowded NYC street. I was completely humiliated and i want to be compensated for thus appalling experience. The truck was awful. Window handle was broken and i couldn't close the passenger window during the rain. The light switch did not wor - i was pulled over by a nj state trooper for the lights not working during the storm. He directed me to file a complaint with uhaul for faulty equipment

There was a huge line when I arrived; I had to wait 25 minutes to pick up my rental. When I returned my vehicle, I topped off the gas I had used (I put in 2 gallons for the 15 miles I'd driven) but the needle barely moved. I told the man at the counter and he said he would "see what [he] could do" and then proceeded to charge me for 4 more gallons of gas. IF it actually uses 6 gallons of gas to go 15 miles, there are HUGE issues with the vehicle. Also, the engine light came on while I was driving the truck. Overall, not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend using this location.

We had rented along with our van a hand truck, we were told they didn't have any left as it was first come, first serve...which we were never told..I had to drive to home depot and buy one, extra time, extra miles, extra money not to mention the cost of the hand truck..very disappointing experience.

The customer service at the front desk was good, but the utility dolly I reserved with my truck was unavailable the morning of my move, so not only did I not have the dolly, to rub salt in the wound I was THEN charged an $85 REPLACEMENT fee for the dolly I never got. I've also emailed twice and heard no response about my charge dispute

Well everything was not in order with my rental and still got charged for it and the van has tire pressure issues that I had to try to take care of that by myself. I really didn't like my experience checking in either the process was still like and difficult.

I prepaid for a furniture dolly and furniture pads, but they were not in the truck. I require a refund for these items. In addition, our truck was parked on the street with the key in the ignition and RUNNING when we arrived, wasting our gas. There were no attendants to be seen, and a crowd of at least 5 other people waiting for service.
