In florida when I booked the u boxes I was given the address and phone number of a dealer in san rafael where the boxes would be sent. The boxes were sent to hayward and I was told that dealer in san rafael did not store boxes but I not that is not true as my daughter had a box sent there. when I called hayward about how to get my stuff to my new address i was told that they could deliver them for $125.00, just call to set up a delivery. When I called for delivery i was told that the delivery fee would be $350.00. When the empty boxes were picked up the truck did not stay on dirve and tore up the grass on my landlords property which I will have to fix this next week.

You need to listen to what customer is asking follow through correctly. Worse customer service. Will never rent a u box from u haul again. Absolutely terrible so many things went wrong.

I've had a UBox for 12 years with you folks. ALWAYS encounter the rudest woman who answers the phone in your Hayward location, IF she answers the phone at all. While explaining to her that I was 67 years old now & didn't see a way to EVER get my items, she tells me "it doesn't matter how old you are" & transferred the call. I called for several days at the end of January...FINALLY got a call back to settle this on Feb. 20th?? What the hell? Terrible service to someone doing business with you for 12 years.

Put the Xbox where I requested it. It was so far from my storage, and it was raining hard, thats the one thing you got wrong. They called me and I told them where to put them and still they got it wrong.

Take note that the service at the destination is not always the same as the service at the starting point. For all intents and purposes, the Bay Area service team assumed that the same conditions would apply where I was ending up. However, when I got to my destination their reply was 'We do things differently here' and I really had to hassle them to get them to deliver my pods when I was told they would be delivered by the Bay Area team. It's not you -- it's the team in Washington -- they move at a different pace...

The delivery window is too large. My drop off window was 8 am - 1 pm and my pickup window was 7 am - 4 pm. When I used PODS my pickup and drop off wind was three hours. Much more respectful of my time.

My only complaint is that I still have not resolved the additional charges that i incurred when the boxes were picked up on time but they were not recorded as picked up until I called 3 days in a row to contest. It took way too long to resolve the simple issue and I still am owed a refund for 2 boxes for a month rental.

Not much, I was pretty happy with the experience. One thing that surprised me was that after shipment, the U-box was delivered to me on a trailer. That was different than before shipment, when the U-box was placed directly on the ground.Being on the trailer meant that it took up more space in the driveway than I expected. It wasn't a problem in the end, but you might mention during the booking process that this is a possibility.

We did not need furniture pads, so they weren't used. All of the people we came in contact with were very nice. The Drop Off Driver was very good and nice! We haven't been able to unpack all of the totes and boxes that were shipped. It looked like my husband strapped and stacked all very well and the pick up, trip and drop off in Newark, Ohio was done very well. No shifting of any of the containers. Thank you very much!

I was not told my moving container would go to Hayward. This caused me many problems trying to get my box to San Francisco. Hayward assured me of things the San Francisco location said was not possible or did differently.

We were very pleased with the entire experience. The ease and quality of the communication during every phase of the shipment was flawless. Every person we interfaced with was very helpful and pleasant. The driver on the pick-up end was outstanding. He called before arriving and made sure to carefully get the container into our narrow driveway with this state of the art forklift. We could not be happier. My interactions with U-Haul customer service were mixed. Half the reps I spoke with over the 6 months period that I used the box struggled to located me within their system and the website never seemed to match what was actually happening, so I could not do everything online. This may well have been my own user error but the reps were not particularly patient as I tried to explain where I was getting stuck. I did have an excellent experience with both moving services that U-Haul contracted for me - the service and the communication from them was great, and they gave me tips on how to work well within the U-Haul system.

Juan was so helpful to me in many ways , I use a cane and it was so thoughtful that he helped place containers in my car he checked up on me throughout the day ,saw I was in distress and brought me water ! Above and beyond! The whole staff was so courteous and gave me excellent customer service for which I am so grateful!!!

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with moving ! Not one person told me the same thing and nobody wanted help they just transferred my call over and over and over thank God my stuff arrived safely but the worst experience ever making this experience very stressful as if moving isn't stressful enough I will not be recommending or using this U-Haul again

I made an appointment online to visit my box and it changed in the system. I called hayward customer service and had the WORST customer service experience. I chose to use the virtual assistant going forward. And also, no one advised me my box would be relocated from Oakland to Hayward. Oakland customer service was pretty good. The Charlotte customer service was really, really good. The team that scheduled my box delivery and made the delivery and pick up were great.

Inform people that a lock is mandatory. I didn't have one and figured my stuff would get here alright. When it arrived someone had put a lock on it and I had to get a bolt cutter to cut off the new lock.

Everything was so easy and worked out great. I appreciated your phone calls, emails and texts confirming each delivery and pick up. One Ubox was rather dirty, so I would say a good sweep out or mopping woukd have been appreciated. Bur we cleaned it orerty easiky. .

U-Haul changed final delivery date in Baltimore but did not inform the move in help of date change. They went to pickup U-Box and box was not ready and my daughter had to find and pay for lodging for that night. Need to have process to reliably inform move in helpers of date changes.

To start, the delivery driver was absolutely fantastic and did an excellent job dropping off and picking up our U-Boxes. Bravo. Unfortunately, the driver's great service couldn't offset the upsetting and extremely odd experience we had when we tried to contact the scheduling office. The first time we called, we were told that drop-off for our U-Boxes was not possible for 5 days and were advised to call "moving help" with no explanation of what moving help is. After looking it up online and realizing that "moving help" is a website to contact private partners of U-Haul, I went on the website to look up a separate quote for faster delivery and was astounded to see prices of up to $20 000 for delivery of three U-boxes! Obviously, these figures were unworkable so I returned to call to the scheduling office. The second representative told us a completely different narrative: that U-Haul would not deliver the boxes, and that "moving help" was our only option - this was in stark contrast to what the first representative said about U-box being able to deliver within 5 days. I brought up this earlier communication with the second representative and they adamantly refused that delivery through U-haul was possible. In frustration, I asked my wife to try calling the scheduling office a THIRD TIME. This time, she got an answer similar to the first call - that delivery was possible within 5 days. Sure enough, when we scheduled the delivery through U-haul, the delivery driver arrived as scheduled. I have no idea what the second person we spoke to was going on about and It's upsetting that other customers who might have spoken to that representative could very likely have been told that their only option was to go with third parties at a ludicrous fee. Often times, customers who are moving are under a lot of stress and might feel pressured under such circumstances. The final straw was when we got the delivery bill for the U-boxes, which no one discussed on the phone. Not a single representative mentioned that there would be a charge for delivery through U-haul. My wife and I were appalled as we did not deal with any such fees at our origination location in Connecticut. We will certainly try to dispute these delivery fees and overall the entire experience dealing with U-Box of Hayward left a bad taste in our mouths due to the lack of service and under-handedness. Had we known that we would be dealing with hidden fees, we would have gone with a different service many months ago when we were comparing quotes from moving container companies. This experience greatly saddens me as we've always had good experiences with U-Box before.

Better communication! Our Uhaul was delayed for three days. And NOBODY could tell us where or when it would get there. AND we received no communication that it was going to be delayed. We had to call several times ourselves to find out. Just awful. Jessie at the Hayward location was the only competent person who took the time to help us locate the third part carrier.

Hi Friends, This is an amazing service. I let everyone I talk to about the move to about it. It's almost too good to be true! The ability to store with you for such a humane, reasonable price and to have a box delivered anywhere, also for a reasonable price is really great. Also, the staff at our local San Rafael, CA store are adorable, friendly and very helpful. The woman who delivered the box in CA was professional, friendly and warm, and the woman who picked up in IL. was also professional and friendly. Everyone was timely and it was a smooth process from set up to pick up. Thank you all!

This critique has more to do with U-Haul at large and how they coordinate the pick up and delivery of U-Boxes rather than with the Hayward location in particular. (The people I spoke to at Hayward were very kind and helpful actually.) My U-boxes were shipped to the wrong location and as a result arrived at the final destination days late. I had to spend time on the phone every day for nearly a week (in the middle of moving across the country), including hours on hold, before I finally spoke to someone who could even figure out how to get the U-boxes delivered to me. Everyone else just threw their hands up and said a supervisor would call me back. No one ever called me back. My delivery day was guaranteed by U-Haul, but when I reported the delay I only received a $50 dollar refund. Really?! What kind of backing a guarantee is that on a $3 000 purchase of services?! I am grateful to the one person who finally figured out how to coordinate a delivery of the U-Boxes. However the delivery did not go well. The driver arrived before the scheduled delivery window and as a result I was not home to move my car out of the garage and ended up being blocked in and unable to drive for 5 days (5 days because they could not pick up the U-Boxes when I requested). They did not follow instructions and put the boxes in the wrong order which made it much more difficult on the movers. Then, they could not even get someone to pick them up on the scheduled pick up day until I complained that I needed to get my car out of the garage and they figured out contract an independent driver to come. I am glad I got my stuff across the country but the U-Box system is way out of whack and the guarantees are impotent.

This was the worst experience I have ever had moving, and I have moved many times. I must have called U-haul 50 times over the past month to figure out the move in, storage, ship cross country and move-out. No one could tell me anything. Huge wait times. Transferred. No assurances about when the things would arrive. The emails were often wrong and chaotic. Beyond horrible.

This is NOT a negative review of the personnel at Hayward facility. They were overly busy and under-staffed. Phone calls transferred to nat'l call center gave me incorrect information.

Our drop off and pickup times were not accomodated. Our u-boxes were infested with mice during storage, which was apparent from the mouse droppings found in our belongings upon pickup.

Oakland uHaul team is awesome! Lula is superwoman, fielding calls AND picking up and dropping boxes like a rock star. Alphonso (sp?) was also exceptional. New team member Christine was stellar too!

This so far has not responded to me with wrong billing. I never have a " rental for room # AA2637H in Hayward?". I just moved from Fairfax, Virginia to Houston, TX. Don't know why you charged me?

Accessing my U-Box was not at all easy. I ended up having to make multiple trips to the facility due to miscommunication between the employees and them not being able to locate my box.

When I was able to talk to the location they were helpful. But, getting in touch with the location was a nightmare - I tried to call dozens of times to set up moving and struggled to reach anyone.

This office could not locate my Ubox. They had me call the National line for UBox. And they did not have my Ubox ready for shipment the day of my delivery, which added a couple extra hours.

My entire Uhaul order got messed up and it was nearly impossible to get ahold of anyone to try and fix the problem. The only people that were helpful were those working at the Hayward location.

I was charged for the month after my storage unit was emptied and in order to resolve the overpayment I was transferred to 4 people, spent 30 minutes on hold, and was hung up on.
