Computer was "down" staff showed no interest in helping customers. Attitude " too bad guys - nothing I can do" ( except sit ant talk to coworkers.) I went to Black rock UHaul. Charlene told me "not all the computers are down" She had no trucks available so I went back to Pine St U-Haul. I had to argue with the staff to try all their computers to see if one worked. They told me all computers were down nationwide. After insisting - they tried and one computer worked. I felt the staff was really dissaponted that the computer was actually functiong - and they had to work! If I hadn't gone to talk to Charlene on Black Rock - I don't know if Pine Street would have ever called me to tell me they could fulfill my reservation. When I did get someone to open my reservation on Pine St - she was incapable of completing the reservation. An employee still seated shouted information to help her with my reservation. Finally, she reluctantly got up to help the person that was attempting to rent me my reserved truck. My 10:30 reservation was completed more like 11:30. Worst customer experience ever. No one even bothered to say "sorry" for the inconvenience. Any one reading this review - do yourself a favor - go to the Black Rock office. Charlene runs a tight ship. You'll get good service!

The elevators are too small. Having larger freight elevators and all-wheel-drive trolleys/dolleys would enhance the experience. I got stuck in the elevator once and feared nobody would have heard me despite pressing the emergency bell. Eventually, the elevator was back in service. Easy move-out process.

Convenient location, great staff, equipment in excellent shape! And we have a storage unit there so we were able to drive the truck back to return it and empty it into our storage unit at the same time. Very handy. And their facility is clean and secure.

Paul checking the vehicle back in tried telling me the text I received to download the U-Haul app wasn't an app it was online. When I took the truck it had less than half a tank when I submitted the get my truck there was no section to change how much gas was left so I went around the corner to move down the block and back to the U-Haul around the corner all in maybe drove a mile. And Paul said he was going to charge me $28 because U-Haul gave me a truck with less than half a tank of gas.

The staff here are downright surly. The gas gauge was, at worst, an 1/8 of a tank below what it was when we picked it up and they charged us $15. They gave us a hard time about everything. Not a customer-oriented business!

Over the past year, I and a team of volunteers I lead have rented trucks and vans from UHaul go Black Rock in Bridgeport more than 50 times, on average once a week for the full year. On every occasion, the rental vehicle has been ready on time, clean and in perfect operating order. And on every occasion, Charlene and her staff have been courteous and professional in helping us make reservations, check in and check out. We have a partnership that we truly value. The app was not good. Verification took too long. Chat support person was terrible: said they needed to call my wife but that my wife did not answer her phone. But my wife never got a call. And why do you need to contact my wife? Im a 52 yo man w a valid drivers license, a credit card, excellent credit and a clean driving record who lives a quarter mile away! It said the van was in front lot; but the van was in the back lot. Fortunately, Sherill at this Uhaul was present and made up for the poor app and poor app service.

Two Things: 1) you should not that your reservation is cancelled if you don't pick it up by your designated time as mine in process of being cancelled since I was 2 hours late 2) I reserved the truck at one facility but it wasn't there even though my reservation was correct for location. Since both locations were in town, the proper location I went to was able to rent me a truck but it was 1 size larger than my original reservation

Gentleman at pick up was very helpful and professional. different gentleman at drop off was very rude. three of trying to drop off at same time, so 2 of us couldn't tell where to park or wait. Yelling at both of us because we didn't know what he wanted us to do was unhelpful and unprofessional. but at least he was fast and efficient. Rude and fast is better than rude and slow!

Had trouble checking in with app; luckily the store manager on duty, a very helpful lady, assisted and got me all checked in. She deserves an A+ for excellent customer service. Vehicle was very clean, no issues whatsoever for this short term rental. Fortement recommandé!

If you want customers to look over pictures and compare them to the equipment to confirm any previous damages and or point out any that are not shown in the pictures, then you should be able to zoom in on the pictures to be able to see each and every detail. In addition to this, the link for the pictures should not expire at any point until the rental is returned. The renter should also be given the option to download these pictures. I was not happy with this rental experience. I've rented from uhaul for 10 years and this was the worst i've ever had.

I extended my day to two days, picked up the Uhaul at 5:15pm. on the day I rented it, and was told it had to be returned at 5:15pm the following day, and I'd be charged $20 for each additional day if returned after my 24hrs. On the customer vehicle overview, add a section for cab interior. The dashboard glass on my van was cracked, but there was no way for me to record this on the online form prior to acceptance of the vehicle. I had to grab an employee to show him and to have it noted manually.

I use UHaul of Black Rock almost weekly, but limit my survey responses to things that I notice beyond the ordinary. Over the past two years that I have patronized Charlene's branch, a number of employees have stayed but there has been expected turnover. Charlene's new staff invariably follow her lead in being polite and patient. They train up fast and become knowledgeable and valuable members of the team. A manager's ability to manage staff turnover is often a challenge, and those who do it well earn loyal customers.

App had issues. Went mobile check in. App asked me to take photos of my license and the app wouldn't activate the camera. Checked settings, I set my phone to allow the app to use my camera. One worker was incredibly obnoxious, while the other was professional and incredibly kind. This resulted in frustration from losing 20 minutes of my 4-hr rental window.

The entire process takes sooooo long with all the online questions and picture taking etc… I spent over 1/2 an hour in the office and at least 1/2 an hour online dropping vehicle off. But, the Location is great, customer service was great!

Great customer service in person. Too aggressive contact when I was an hour late and hadn't called back in yet they called my emergency contact to talk about when the car would be returned. First of all, she had no idea as I wasn't really late, just bad traffic. Secondly, it made her worry. Not a huge deal and otherwise the automation you out in is great. Process just needs to be tweaked.

The service is agonizingly slow, nobody can get you promptly through the paperwork and I have not one copy, not one receipt! It's appalling! They barely know what questions to ask as you try to express what you need. $19,95 is a joke! You end up paying double. Even for the gas, the mileage - where are my copies so I can decipher this rip off! I will use your services when I need to but your shining image of being an American "Big Brother", an efficient and helpful service respected and respectful to every walk of American life, has dissolved into some gruesome swindle. Get your selves back to what you once were. Everyone there looks so absolutely miserable, you want to run away!

Why is the check in and check out process so methodical and long?? Its 2023- employees should have a tablet, inspect the vehicle with customer, agree to sign waivers and be on their way. Doesn't make sense that the customer has to go search for the truck themselves and do a solo inspection. Painful process!!! Redundant. Also, it's ridiculous that employees back the trucks all the way against the wall and ask customers to search for the plate number that matches their set of key. The plate isn't visible unless we walk to the back of every truck. Overall, just ridiculous.

The first truck they gave me had a mechanical problem that was easily identified by me in your parking lot. They gave me another truck but I was surprised they put me in a truck that sounded like it was ready to blow a belt or a power steering pump. The second truck they put me in was perfect - thank you. The customer service rep on the front of the rental and the back (return) of the rental was great.

All the staff were extremely helpful and kind all throughout the day since I was there most of the day. I had a very bad experience renting because the van breaks and acceleration was slow to respond. The oder was horrible it smelt like garbage and someone sprayed it to cover up the smell. I would most likely not rent from here again.

My only issue with this facility was the mouse problem. I had that storage unit for quite a while and have paid them a lot of money over this time. I had to get rid of a lot of my stuff due to the mouse issue. I'm very disappointed.

Most of the staff is very unfriendly and rude. I felt the facility was very confusing to find my unit and had horrible accessibility. Process to rent a truck or unit was time consuming and had way too many unnecessary step. I've used many different Uhaul facilities and rental companies but this was by far the worst experience I've had.

Unfortunately my storage room was on the basement. Yes you guessed it properly, the elevator went out. But the Staff was more than helpful in helping me bring my goods downstairs to the storage unit I rented..Really the staff is incredible and the unites as clean as you can possibly get them

Manager Charlene was very professional , courteous and more than capable at her job. The other workers seemed as well....I dealt mostly with Ken and Paul and they also seemed to do their jobs exceptionally well. All of them answered any questions I had courteously, promptly and in a very satisfactory way. Only at the end did ideal with Xiomayor (sp?) But she seemed to share the same characteristics as the other. I was very much impressed and I would highly recommend ( already have ) the facility in Black Rock.

The lack of a ramp to get flatbeds down tocar level made the loading unloading effort very difficult. Loading dock is also not appropriate for vans or pick up trucks. Female attendant on duty on july 19 was very rude and with an attitude. We complained to the assistant manager who was very understanding and friendly. He also agreed that she had a problem and was going to mention it to his manager. The process and requirements to rent a truck was beyond complicated and scary: worse than going through customs or immigration when entering the USA. We have rented cars and trucks all over and internationally and have never encountered a similar experience. You are made to feel like a crook or a criminal. Not good customer service. At all.

The elevator is very small and difficult to navigate with loaded carts. The automatic door closure is far too quick and annoying to have to constantly have to deal with while trying to navigate getting a cart in and out. Definitely not ideal for moving loaded carts.

The team was very helpful. I wasn't aware that the lock would already be in the unit waiting and they explained the process. I had an issue with my door code and the manager was able to assist me and have a team member issue me a scan card. The unit is smaller than I expected so a picture with dimensions might have been more helpful, but overall it was a great experience.

The only draw back to this whole experience (first time using any storage space) is having to pay for a whole month even though we took our things out in the middle of the month. Other than that, it was a great "adventure". I would highly recommend this facility.

The floors are like an off-road course,the elevator is way too small,needs a freight elevator really bad,the lights kept going off every couple of mins,there was never any paper towels in the restroom and the threshold coming off the elevator and especially the one for the outside door are a real pain in the butt and my unit was pretty much on the other side of the building way down in the dungeon,other than that, it was great,oh and the carts need brakes really bad too,especially the mattress carts,trying to get a mattress on one of those is a real chore,oh and now they come with the “cleaning fee increase in rent by $7/month,not during the height of covid but a year later,which is exactly the thing that made me move out,and nothing, I mean nothing is free,sorry to sound so whiny but y’all asked for my comments.

Initially when starting with UHaul the connection was not the best. I went to one UHaul in Bridgeport and they could not assist with tranfer to the correct location of UHaul in Bridgeport. With a family member we had to travel a long distance and go to UHaul at least twice to be able to get in to the unit as the covering employee had not been informed how to handle the situation. It was a rough start, but no problems as the time continued. I, nevertheless, would choose to go to this UHaul again, now being familiar with their set up

My only complaint, is that while switching units to the other side of the building, there were no ramps to get into the other side. Creating more than twice as much work. One cart turned into two carts and we had to reload up a couple stairs.

I was forced to call a locksmith for my own personal lock. The persons credentials were never checked. I'm sure there's not even a record of him arriving. The trainee that was left in charge for hours was not knowledgeable enough to be left in charge and could not assist effectively. Also I had to call on 4 times over 3 days to gain an answer.

A lot of effort to get into the storage bin.Dolly everything into a small elevator, and then maneuver around a hallway corner that would’ve been easier to negotiate if 1 storage bin had not been built

It would have been more convenient if desk staff were there longer because I have a long work day and was limited to weekends to consult a front desk person. Otherwise, great, positive experience.

The staff are excellent and the facility is clean and well maintained, but there are some limitations. The elevator is too small to easily fit some furniture pieces, and the facility locks at 7 PM.

Over priced for what you get. Other uhaul storage places are cheaper. Card reader doesnt work properly and takes multiple tries to work. Only rented out of emergency. Would not go back or recommend.

The staff was nice and helpful. This is my second time using the storage unit and renting a van and everyone was great. Would definitely reccomend uhaul to all my friends
