The Albany U-haul team let me know one day before that they couldn't deliver my U-box to my house. If they let me know a week in advance I would have been more prepared. I sent pictures a month in advance so they could verify. As a result, I was forced to make a rushed decision and ask for last-minute favors to help take my belongings to the Erie Blvd site.

I was so pleasantly surprised at this experience! Being a bit of a pessimist, I thought surely my stuff would at least get wet! My furniture and belongings lived in these uboxes for almost three weeks (four days short of when I had to return) . I called, got a quote, and had a lengthy conversation with one of the salespersons (she was on the money and explained everything transparently). It is helpful to send a picture on the website of where you want the boxes to go. They do look at them. We made a small change and they were delivered. The same guy delivered, picked up, redelivered to my new address, and picked up again. He was excellent! I'm telling you, this was a streamless and excellent, and somewhat inexpensive move. They have it together and UBOX from Uhaul, and I'm thankful! Just make sure you fill them properly. I hired people to load mine, and thankfully they have loaded them before and knew exactly how to do the loading. It also pays to watch the video's they have on their website. A HUGE thanks to Uhaul UBOX in the Albany area. You guys were excellent!

The service was below average only because of the efforts of the delivery U-Haul branch, otherwise; it would have been poor. When the pods were originally delivered to be loaded, I was instructed to leave them unlocked. After I departed to Indiana, I was contacted and they advised they would put locks on the pods and that I could pick up the keys the next time I was in town. When that occurred, the Albany branch was not able to locate the keys and sent me to the warehouse to speak to the manager on site there. Upon my arrival, the staff there said the manager doesn't work Saturdays, but attempted to locate the keys and reported that the keys were "U-Haul's", meaning that upon delivery of the pods, the locks would be removed. When the pods were delivered, the containers were locked and no one from the delivery branch knew anything about the keys. After over an hour, I was not able to get in contact with anyone from the Albany Branch and the customer service reps kept bouncing my call until a representative from the Syracuse Branch picked up. His response was "I can't have a locksmith fee hit my branch, so you'll have to pay for it out of pocket". Having worked in similar business environments, I am well aware that even with Albany failing to answer anything, U-Haul had the ability to handle situation, and the various representatives gave the interpretation that they didn't care and didn't want to resolve the situation. I paid a large amount of money for this service and the only person who showed any amount of caring was the delivery driver (who couldn't do much due to no signal, which I know is an issue in my area). Since the delivery, there has been zero effort for anyone to resolve this matter.

The overwhelming amount of customers versus employees makes it difficult to receive decent service from this facility. I'm being charged for a storage I no longer have and it's taking management days to respond/resolve this issue. When leaving the facility I was really adamant about not being charged. The representative even showed me her screen and stated "my account is closed". I've never experienced such bad customer service before. This facility is in dire need of help.

Your female assistants were very capable in their part..love the million dollar smiles! Box temperatures might be cooler if roof color white. Would not hesitate to use U-Box again.

They had to leave the boxes on a trailer when they were delivered. It made it very difficult for me to unload but after discussing it with them they refunded part of the money to allow me to hire locally a young man to unload. It was a very fair solution to the problem. I would recommend Uhaul over PODS or any similar company for the price, ease of the web site, and the friendly and helpful staff. It was the smoothest move I have ever had thanks to Uhaul!

I will NEVER rent U-boxes from this company again. What a nightmare the entire experience was and you stole $289 out of my bank account with no bill or receipt forcing me to file a fraudulent claim against your company.

This facility is managed pretty poorly. We have a number of issues we have tried to address directly with corporate, never to be heard from. Ive seen it all between the facility where i rented and the facility that managed it remotely. Food scattered across the storage facility floor for days on end, people living in units, an employee almost running over customers while in reversee and hitting another van, the manager pretending she isnt a manager to avoid having to deal with upset customers, contracts for rental equipment being wrong and them trying to force a customer to leave with a bad contract( like plates not matching ect..). I myself have had a number of issues being overcharged because i was never signed up for automatic payments like i had asked for and they refuse to make it right. This uhaul has literally stole money from me for profit on more than one occasion. After being screamed at and harassed for an entire day by your staff while they called me repeatedly i realized i no longer wanted anything to do with uhaul. What and awful company to do business with and i will make sure to spread the word to never do business here. To make matters worse when i called to cancel units they tried to tell me they couldnt help me cancel my unit and i would have to call back tomorrow. What a joke of a facility....

This facility and the facility that manages it, near the Port of Albany, are disorganized and under-maintained. There is a lack of communication and between the Erie Blvd facility and the managing Broadway location which has caused me inconvenience on more than one occasion. In addition, the first garage bay door has been out of order for as long as we have rented units there. On the weekends, this forces people to wait to load/unload. I'd also like to mention that I had multiple units there and, on more than one occasion, I swiped the wrong U-haul card and set off the alarm on my unit when I opened it. Not once did I ever see any indication that employees are notified or check up on the alarms. I was not contacted in any way and this does not give me great confidence in the security at this location. Any one could show up and break into a unit and I don't think they would be stopped or even noticed until a customer notices themself.

U-box was delivered to pickup spot a couple hours past the stated window. Not a huge deal, but it created some stress in not knowing if I could pack it in time. Then the U-box expected shipment date from Albany changed from August 6th to August 14th, which created a 4-day late delivery to my destination in Arizona. During that 4-days, nobody could tell me where the U-box was, and I was told by several people that they were "trying to get updated status information from the carrier." That never happened - nobody ever gave me any information about the status even though they said they would within 24 hours of my request.

The elevator was broken for the first 4 months of usage due to heavy flooding last summer and I had to go up and down 3 flights of steps in the dead of summer. It was awful. Other than that, everything was fine.

This experience of working with UHaul to load and store two containers EXCEEDED my expectations. Every step of the process was clear and easy. The communications via both text and email were thorough and responsive. When we talked to the drivers, they were courteous and provided timely arrival information. We are delighted…..and appreciate the easy flexibility to store until we can have the boxes delivered to a new location. Your great service relieved a lot of stress in this move. Merci.

Let me start by saying the driver was extraordinary. Absolutely fantastic. However, the staff that arranged to deliver my containers was nothing less than toxic. They seemed more interested in checking things off their to-do list than actually helping me with my move. Lots of attitude and arrogance. I was also billed for an extra month of service when they held my containers for an additional week because they were too busy/understaffed to deliver them at the date I requested. The extra charge seemed unwarranted, unjust, and reflective of a generally unethical mindset that I felt characterized the office. Even having said that, this UHaul service generally fit my needs well. The containers were clean and, again, the driver was pleasant to communicate with and uniquely capable. She made the difference. But, if I need to use this service again, hopefully I'll be able to avoid the office-staff in this Albany location...

The U-Box online service is a lie, they claim to deliver to U-Haul locations that will not accept U-Boxes and then forced you to pay for the home delivery or hold the box 20+ miles away. I will never use any U-Haul servies again and strongly recommend another service to everyone I come across in the future that is moving.

Yall literally are trash. I put in an order online for an 8×10. Apparently your online reservations don't translate correctly to the store staff because I got a 4×4 first and then an 8×8 on the second try. Wasted four hours of my time. Won't be using yall again.

Nothing. I really appreciated the communication. The emails and texts were good reference and the call from the local site was fantastic to talk with a person who then took great to follow the instructions they asked for in leaving and retrieving the box.

Not rip people off, I had my boxes stored in albany, had I had them immediately delivered and stored in waco I would have paid 800 less delivery charge, I even went back in and checked and as of today if I had boxes picked up in bennington and delivered to waco through the albany location its still 800 less.

This was by far the worst experience I have had with moving and dealing with u-haul. For 2 weeks I was constantly from department to department trying to get answers about our u boxes. I spent hours a day on the phone and spent weeks without out stuff. I am looking into a full refund for shipping costs.

I rented a unit and I'm at a point in my life where if it could go wrong it will. So I put my stuff in uhaul storage because my apartment wasn't big enough and Thank God I did that because the new apartment I moved into caught fire. On May 22 my a couple days later I caught a heart attack. After my release from the hospital I was staying in a homeless shelter and hotels. Due to the fact I lost my phone I couldn't get any calls or listen to my voice mails. I bought a new phone and finally did listen to my voice-mail and one in particular was from uhaul stating that if I didn't reach out to them my property will be auctioned on JULY 1. This is where the problem starts. So June 30 I called uhaul. I called 7 times and 7 times I was put on hold and never got to speak with anyone because they kept putting me on hold then the call hangs up. I arrived at uhaul the next morning early to find out what's going on I speak to the manager and show her my call log and she calls he GM to inform him that I have been calling and that I want to pay for my unit and she tells me that it was auctioned online and there is nothing they can do. So she spoke back with her GM and he told her that the best thing he can do is allow me to take my things out right now. So I did that I got my things and decided that I will never again rent any of uhaul,(trucks ,storage or anything pertaining to the UHAUL BRAND. The thing is that I only owed UHAUL for 2 lousy months as if it couldn't get any worse for me after all I've been through in the last 45 days. I have a social media account and I'm gonna release the video of it all and I know my 40 thousand followers isn't alot but that 40 thousand potential customers that will not be using your business. I have audio of your GM and manager allowing me and assisting me into committing a crime of stealing my stuff back that was sold on an online auction. Now I have video of the young lady saying well we'll atheist let you take the things back if you can take it today the world will see that Uhual does not care about people's property and they look to make money either by renting u a unit or making money selling families memories and total disregard for compassion. So no I will not recommend any of my friends to do business with Uhual. I hope you people at UHAUL actually read these comments but you will see the video shortly once the world see what you put families that are going through a crisis.

I used the u-box as a convenient option for someone that doesn't own a vehicle but needing to move my items into storage while I was inbetween leases. I wish I was better notified about needing to secure the spot in front of the box for drop off and pickup. Allie was EXTREMELY helpful and very nice and professional. Her demeanor made me feel calm during a stressful situation like this.

When I first rented the storage unit it already had someone else's belongings in it and I had to have a manager come from the Broadway location to remove their belongings from the unit that was not comfortable with this process so I asked to change my unit to a more convenient unit for myself and I maintain that unit until my move out day which was April 6th 2023 not April 12,2023 as recorded above I spoke to a representative to confirm my move out on April 7th 2023 at the 139 Broadway in Albany New York the this location actually only handle my rental transaction but they governed the riverfront location where I had the storage unit This location was a 24-hour I'm assuming storage unit but there was no physical person to talk to On occasion, a gate did not work to access even with access card so to bring items into storage area I carried them in by using staircase if another renter happened to be there at that time on the premises On this transaction since there's no physical person at the site, I followed up by calling to make sure ,when I received no confirmation text on the app I called the main location at 139 broadway to speak to an actual representative on April 7,2023 I feel that there should be an actual office or uhaul rep. at the riverfront preserve location in Albany NY where I rented my unit because issues do arise there and there is no one to help you unless you can reach someone at the main location at 139 Broadway Albany NY There are mice and so all of the units have mice glue traps in them and a mouse was in my unit in the glue trap Fortunately none of my belongings were damaged by rodents, everything was still intact Overall location was always clean and well lit

The women who delivered the boxes were wonderful. They were considerate and found ways to problem solve with positioning the boxes in my driveway. Two of the boxes were damaged beyond acceptable. Doors wouldn't close, broken hinges, patches and nails exposed, etc. They were taken away and replaced with two new boxes. One is marginal and I am hoping to not need the fourth. The boxes should be inspected thoroughly before delivery.

Not to pleased false advertisement got a 5 x 5 compartment which the pricing was $54,99 a month I paid for my compartment for a whole year after the contract was pulled up. I see that I was charged $64,99 ask the sales person why is that she said all the prices went up, but she didn't specify that before she pulled up my contract. I feel like I should have got the price that was displayed on the compartments I feel that's false advertisement and like I said, I paid the compartment for a whole year. I should've got some kind of discount or the price that was displayed. I'm not pleased with it not at all I needed to storage so I paid the price for a year

My experience was a complete disaster, not only did my stuff get ruined but the staff was super rude, they tried to charge me $800 for a stalemate unit I didn't have. They sold my stuff that they locked in another unit and never gave me my items back. Sent my family fake bills and harassed me for money. I tell eveydo not use that place. It's sad cause it's in great location and was new. They also let people live in the units as well.

Three weeks before the date of this feedback (1/5/23), my fiancée, Sarah McMillen, wrote a review explaining how our items were stolen on Google Maps. Apparently this post was removed. Good job being lying scums. So this is Sarah writing from onto the bottom of this feedback form. Since I can't paste the screenshot of the review I originally wrote, I would have type the whole thing again. "Beware customers!!!!! One of our boxes was emptied out when we got to our storage unit. Apparently, skinny or small people can wiggle through the top of units between the nets and tops of units to steal our possessions! DON'T SIGN UP FOR A STORAGE UNIT AT THIS LOCATION!!! Even with the Max security feature! (Insert emoticons which couldn't be used in this feedback form). Our unit was on third floor. There are no cameras to catch the thieves. Go take your business elsewhere. Great job on that (cough cough cough) MAX security system. (More emoticons)". After finding out my first review was removed, I proceed to write another review on Google Maps today (also 1/5/23): "I wrote a post explaining how our items were stolen 3 weeks ago. That post was removed. I am happy to share the screenshot that I took when I wrote that review. This business is a lying SCUM, enabling thieves, workers or common people, to break in and steal your stuff. They lie about their "Max Security " feature. Oh, by the way, the phone system is horrible. We are deaf, and cannot afford to sit all day, waiting for a callback. So UHaul is in a discriminatory manner.

Guaranteed delivery date was changed by uhaul causing my delivery to be delayed. The pickup of uboxes was delayed by 2 days, no contact was made by uhaul to advise of the delay. Overall I would not recommend ubox due to missed delivery times.

I requested movers for the drop-off location and somehow the system didn't apply it to my account, uploaded pictures for drop-off and they weren't uploading, was told to send pictures of where I wanted my container placed and I did but kept getting asked every single time where it needed to be and if there was a code even though I put that a code was not needed. I was guaranteed that my belongings were going to be delivered to me on 19OCT and even called UHaul the day before to confirm and was told I would get a call when the driver was on the way, never got a call by noon, so I called and was told that I was scheduled for self-delivery even though the whole time I was told it was being delivered and sending pictures, so they put me on the schedule for that day and to wait for a call from the driver. I got a call from someone else a few minutes later saying that the driver was already off for the day and wouldn't be in my area until the following week. Didn't get my belongings until the 24th. Communication needs to be better and inputting information because it was ridiculous being ran around like that and not knowing when to expect my belongings.

This location has given me issues with every single visit. The first time I went, the equipment I reserved was unavailable upon pick up. The storage unit facility was also not correct, and I was given the wrong size unit that would not fit my items. The last (and absolutely final) time I came here, the staff did not show up to open the store until 45 minutes after it was supposed to open. I will NEVER use this facility again, and more than likely U-Haul as a company. Very disappointed, and frustrated with service.

website states 24 moving pads included. We only received 12. The hardest part was trying to use the online services to rent a unit, also trying to call on the phone. It took way too long to actually speak with a rep. All phone calls needed were entirely too long a wait time. The customer reps were very helpful but we wasted a lot of actual packing and prep time sitting on hold waiting to actually speak to a c/s rep. The Ubox arrived on time and was finally picked up. We got our items safe and sound. All went well. Thank you

I went to the Uhaul facility only to find that the storage alotted to me is already occupied by some. I tried calling the after-hours number and no one answered the call. First my code didn't work to get in, when I finally got to the locker it was locked,so I had to wait for someone to come help me. The complimentary lock wasn't at my locker so I had to leave my items in storage with no lock to travel to get my lock. Pick up was delayed at 1st location, promised Friday and was delayed to Monday. I was transferred multiple times Friday and the call disconnected 3 times. Promised Saturday pick up by rep did not know forklift was needed. Pick up at destination was scheduled for 11/27 and again was not picked up on time. Pickup delayed to 11/29. The door to back in and unload is broken. My rental included a lock that was supposed to be in the rental unit, and it was not, so I had to drive to another location to get the lock. There are so many keypads to enter your access code, and it gets confusing on which one to use when you're doing this for the first time.

When I first reserved a space, I reserved an 8 x 10 unit. When I went to reserve this unit, I did so at the facility on Broadway. I was told that I was all set went over to the building on Erie blvd. Once I was at the building, I could not get in. I needed a card to swipe in order to unlock. I had to drive back to Broadway where I just was to get my card and garage door clicker. Why nobody told me that I needed a key card to get in when I originally reserved it I do not know. Now I am back at the unit. I get inside and walk up to my unit. There was a lock on it. I was able to call uhaul from the facility through an intercom devised so someone could come and unlock it for me. A gentleman came and unlocked it and went on his way. I opened my storage unit and realized that I was given the wrong size. I had ordered an 8 x 10 but was given something closer to 5 x 10. I had to drive back over to Broadway to resolve this issue. I paid for an 8 x 10 but there were none available at that facility. They were able to upgrade me to a 10 x 10 for the cost of the 8 x 10. Since this was an upgrade they had to adjust the pricing every single month or I would receive a late notice for the balance leftover that I was not supposed to pay. I had to go down to Broadway to pay and make sure that I was not going to have a late notice or have a lock put on my unit which was inconvenient. One month they did put a lock on my unit so I had to have them remove it for me. After going back and fourth I was finally able to start filling my storage unit. A little over a month later I went back to start taking things out. I had moved in was without a home for a month which is why I used this unit. My apartment flooded and I had to get everything out as soon as possible to avoid damages. I open this unit and it was immediately obvious that there was a mouse problem. Mouse droppings on every surface and evidence of mice going through my belongings all over the place. As I began to unpack and move my things I had to go through every single box and open everything up to go through to make sure that I was not bringing mice into my new home. I made sure to Lysol every surface that had evidence of mouse droppings. Going through my belongings I would find dead mice and droppings constantly. Many of my belongings had multiple dead mice inside of boxes. I did find a few mice that were still alive that would scurry away or jump out of a box but for the most part they were dead. I can't say how many dead mice I found, but it was certainly more than anyone would want to see. Overall I probably lost $1000 or more worth of my belongings because of the damage done by these mice. I know I was not the only one facing this issue as I had multiple interactions with other people renting from this unit talking to me about this when they came to look at their things. A couple of months later I came back to finish up my moving. Still many dead mice through my belongings but it looks like they put traps about every 50 feet or so in the hallways so they knew that there was an infestation. Pieces of art and other sentimental things were thrown in the dump. I had to pay someone $250 to come help me remove all of my belongings that were ruined because there was so much and I was unable to move all of this by myself, not to mention how disgusting it was. I will not recommend this storage facility to anyone.

I originally called the central ave number to order a ubox. when we went there to load they said there are no boxes here, you need to go to Eerie blvd. That would have been helpful to know in advance. They also did not tell us that the scheduled time defaults to noon and you need to go in and schedule a time to load your own box, so we were turned away and had to come back the next day. that would have also been very helpful to know in advance.

Other than the logistics needing to be changed constantly and not being able to just do so easily, this went off without too much of a hitch. Ordering was easy, but putting in specific dates in-between origin drop off and destination drop off was hard. I wanted to be able to have the boxes picked up as soon as I loaded them, and that wasn't available and I had to be on uhauls predetermined schedule which was 1 week from drop off to pickup. We had the containers loaded in 2 days. Then the containers sat in destination city for several days before shipping to origin city. I was lucky to not incur a second month's rent due to this. Contents arrived safely and nothing damaged other than 1 thing that I packed poorly. Once boxes were delivered to new property they at first only gave us 1 day to unload 3 containers. (Not possible) I had to call in and wait on hold for 30 minutes to get the empty container pickup date changed. Overall I would recommend this service as it was less money than others (packrat, pods, etc) but I would say make sure to communicate dates effectively before committing. Also, in albany, NY. Jamie the ubox truck driver was absolutely the most helpful person in the entire procedure. She assisted above and beyond in getting everything on a better timeline than uhaul customers support could and actually saved the entire move as I was ready to cancel the entire thing previous to speaking to her. She deserves a raise and commendation for actually caring about how the customers are serviced and does a great job.

This has been the WORST customer service experience I have ever had. No one at U-Haul knows anything about U-Box. The movers that I hired via the u-haul website never showed up. I have told everyone I know to NOT get a U-Box, pay the extra money and get a Pod. U-haul really needs to train their staff on U-Box and take "The Big Move" moving company off of their website because they don't even answer their phone. Horrible experience! I will say that the manager Shannon Hunt did help and he was the only person that knew what was going on.

Your customer support for my local branch was rude and condescending. My U-Box was supposed to made available on 8/15 at 11am and they were not available. I had moving help and a box truck ready to help me unload the box, but we were left with nothing but a truck we cant load, rude phone employees and not an ounce of remorse or willingness to remedy the situation. I then needed to take a day off of work on Monday 8/16 to tow and unload the boxes without assistance, then I found that I had some damaged items. What was I to expect when the U-Box is basically 6 pieces of plywood, I'll take responsibility for not doing proper research on that. There were only 1 or 2 people working in the warehouse when I arrived (but they were fantastic), which further shows the incompetence of the micky mouse operation that is the Albany, NY U-Haul storage facility. I don't blame employees for not wanting to work for this location. On top of this, I was charged for another month's storage for the boxes that were unloaded and returned the day before the renewal date. I see there is no issue when it comes to taking my money, but when it comes to having one iota of respect for your customers, you are severely lacking. I have told anyone who will listen about my experience with U-Haul. My closest friends and family *will not* be using U-Haul for any services. 0/10 would recommend.

It was the first of the month so there were a lot of people moving in or out of the facility using just one elevator. I was trying to move in and get the truck back for a certain time but it was not happening so, I called the facility, they understood the situation and extended my return time. We were happy because we were now able to breath and take our time to unload the truck. We have been using Uhaul for the past 4 years - College moves- and they have always risen to the occasion!! Uhaul Rocks!!!

Staff was nowhere near helpful and only responded when offered money. Ridiculous about closing my account an entire month after I moved out. Worst experience ever and huge waste of money. The "manager" literally ignored my calls as said by another county manager. Horrible horrible horrible service.

Was told wrong location for storage unit. Was told 57 erie blvd which was wrong. It was located at 8 erie blvd. way off and took ME sometime to figure out exactly where my storage unit was. How do you give someone a incorrect address after renting a storage unit. Very disappointed

I had a bad experience , the staff never told me that my storage was located at a different location when booking me. when I went to find my locker after a few days later there was a lock on it which I call customer service and after finally getting a response back a hour later they said they couldn't help me because the system was down. Then I left out of state for 2 weeks and when I got back to check and see if the lock was off, it still was a lock on it and then it made me cancel the whole storage unit because I was paying for a unit that had a lock on it that wasn't mines

We had a great experience. The staff helped a lot, they were very knowledgeable about storage needs. We were able to get the unit we reserved. Moving is already exhausting and challenging so it was great to have such a non stressful experience at U-Haul.

There is no one available to check you in and give you an access card. You have to drive a mile and a half away to another facility to get those things. I wouldn't have even known this if it weren't for another customers help. My storage units door was stuck open. There was no one to help. I waited on the phone for 45 minutes and still the dispatcher was unable to get anyone to come help me. Unbelievably poor service.

The very general questions above really do not reflex our overall experience. Each and every time we needed to access our unit, our passcode and key card did not work despite us receiving a new key card the first day of rental. It required a manager giving us his access code on one occasion, calling the office on several occasions and, usually, getting your employee, Melissa, to give us access. She was a godsend. Each time we contacted the office on Broadway in Albany, NY, we were assured they had corrected the problem. When we were moving out on 11/16/20, it required Rob to give us access. In order to get the type of facility that we wanted for our items, we traveled 1 1/2 hours each way each time. The inability to smoothly access our unit made this a tedious and an unacceptable task. We followed all instructions given to us, accepted the reassurance and explanations but knew we would run into difficulties accessing our unit. Making you aware of our experience hopefully will give you some insight regarding this facilities shortcomings that need to be addressed.

Rating below average because first i received a storage unit number that did not exist. After receiving a new unit upon arrival the unit was occupied.I tried calling the office at 630 pm and received no answer so had to drive back to the main office to find out the phones were not operating and add more mileage to my truck rental which put me over me expected mileage for my rental. Hopefully i will be compensated for the inconvenience of having to drive back and forth twice to correct the storage issue. There should be a office at the storage facility to handle situations like this.

Our key card did not work. After contacting the main office via intercom, we were let in by the attendant who was most helpful. We were advised that a free lock was already in our unit. It was not necessary to purchase one so we returned to the main building returned and received a refund for the lock and was given a new key card. The counter clerk should have known a lock was included in the rental.

Happy to say our first time renting storage space from U-Haul was a great experience; will definitely be back in the future, if needed!
