I had a U-Haul lock that I received when renting the unit. It was junk and the key broke in the lock. The people there were no help and said " the keys break in the U-Haul licks all the time. You need to get a locksmith…sorry." What a joke. There were also dead roaches in my unit every tine I went there. Pretty terrible all around.

Everything went well. If you are looking for something to improve on. The site map given to locate the unit is not clear or it was not well explained. I wondered around quite a while searching for my space. A small thing though overall.

Initially staff were helpful however when it became obvious that we couldn't possibly get in the building because the access code that I had them set up for me didn't work and none of the staff could be reached to correct the issue including the site manger, I would say the experience went from frustrating to incredibly poor. I have a trailer full of stuff that I need to put in a storage space that I can't use. I've had zero contacts since I texted the manager of the site and also used the app to contact him as well. I'll be attempting to resolve this when the office opens here and the next 30 minutes or so but my hopes are not high.

I want to say Bree and her manager were amazing and our customer service back on the map ty y haul for making to have the right people. They were both educational understanding to my needs and able to show concern empathy and knowledge. The process was quick and easy as well

The customer service was terrible. I'm not sure if the young lady was having a bad day or tired but she needs coaching on her people skills.. I get to my storage unit and could NOT get in because the key pad to put in PIN code DID NOT WORK. I contacted the after hours number NO ANSWER..NO HELP!! I still cannot get any help. I will not renew my storage unit!

Check in was at the Octavus via location, Springfield, IL The team there went over and above for me when I ended up with something heavy, and no longer wanted that needed to be cleared from the unit before I could check out. I appreciate the team member who jumped in and said they would get it to the trash area for me. It was too heavy for me to take care of by myself. Thank you for your help!

The manager/owner is a blessing an his staff is patient an nice they always helped me talked with sense they are pleasant people to do business with so go get a U-Haul or storage from them they work with u and are patient they have your best interest thanks U-Haul family smooches

UHaul has been very easy to work with during the last year. I had to clear out a house and then moved and not only did I need a storage unit, but I rented trucks, a trailer, etc. All my encounters with the staff were very good.

I don't like that my storage fee was raised by about $5 every yr for no good reason which was not in my contact which made it more difficult for me to pay the fee. O want my possessions returned to me that were auctioned. It's theft as far as I am concerned. I have the money to pay my storage fee but can't access it due to some illegal things. I explained this to Brenda she was cold and uncaring saying they gave me enough time. I explained I needed more time. Brenda said no andand it has nothing to do with her that I have more than enough money to pay my storage fee but can't access it. Well I rented my unit for about 8 yrs and it's U hauls lost that they don't have my business. They don't have any guarantee that the next renter will be as faithful as I was. I paid thousands of dollars to them and they refused to show me extended grace and charity. It's sad but that's one less bill and no more unfair yearly raising of the fee to deal with for me.

Some how get a better internet provider. Comcast blows. As far as customer service keep it up. And as far as location goes I'm glad to hear that they are moving can't wait to check out the new location. And as far as management Steven does an amazing job and works his tail off keep it up bud. #neverquit #uhaulstrong #retirement

I did the pre check in process. Uploads and when arrived after 3 attempts they did the picture of the license like I had already completed. Doubt interesting it's embracing the tech to do the drop off or you get charged 20 but pickup is still as painful as it has always been. Especially when I did the pre check in

Staff wasn’t wearing masks in a state with a mandate, shop was rundown, truck had a check engine light on, staff didn’t even remove the big window sign for me so I had to drive around with it in my cab with my passengers.

I was running late with movers coming in and delaying my arrival to pick up the trailer I reserved with my credit card. Received a call from who I assumed was the manager, letting me know that I was late and asking when I would come in. I was frazzled at the time, and, yes, at that point I was an hour late, so a call was understandable, even though the reservation was guaranteed with my card. However, she was unfriendly, rude, and dismissive. I gave her a time I would be in and arrived within a few minutes. I guess my issue is the atmosphere in the facility. I've been to other places and the employees seemed happy and positive. This one was not, and the customers feel that. I won't be back at this location.

Everything was really nice and clean but said truck had half a tank of gas but it was almost empty and engine light came on just as I was finishing but the guy that checked me out took picture of the gas gauge and gave me 40 dollars credit everybody was really professional and nice

When picking up my rental, there was only one employee on site. She was friendly, professional and apologetic for delays. She patiently worked through handling ALL customers present and was an OUTSTANDING representative of U-Haul. Please give her a raise!

I've rented a van for the last two weeks. The first van had less then half a tank of gas. This time the tank had 1/4. The owner waited on me. I mentioned it to him (Steven) and he said that 1/4 is the minimum required. Is that how you want me to return the truck? With the minimums? Minimum air in the tires, minimum charge on the battery, and minimum care taken by me with your vehicles? I expected more than "the minimum with this location. Other than that exchange, the location gets 5 stars.

Trucks were clean but there was a mix up with the trucks when we got there and they had to switch us to a different one. Employees weren't very pleasant at this location but again trucks were in great shape!

No one explained about returning the truck overnight when closed and then charging a fee for an early return. Also, bought bundles of boxes and tried to return unused boxes. No one said you will need a receipt to return boxes. "Totally unprofessional".

The rental attendant was super friendly and helpful. He knows his job and gets your paperwork completed and you hooked up fast. I have used them several times over the years and will continue to use them in the future.

I didn't know the 10' truck doesn't come with the extension step at the back until I was shown the truck. Likely there are larger trucks available that day. It would be helpful to explain that on UHaul website. I rented a UHaul truck in Chicago back in May and it came with a dolly and some blankets. I was expecting those things when I rented the truck in Springfield on Monday but I had to pay separately.

We returned our truck and took pictures as requested then tried to finish up the process at home. It would have been nice to know up front the entire return process needs to take place at the time of drop off. I had the information sent to email, and required a hotspot to finish up the transaction.

I was supposed to be able to use the 24/7 pickup of the truck at 8:30am. The location did not do what they needed to do on their end to have that ready so when I got there at 8:20 to do the pickup process I kept getting a message that I had to wait until 9am when the location opened. The problem was we had people waiting on us to arrive with the truck to complete our move. We were on a tight schedule as it was and this put a wrench in our plans. I didn't need the truck for the full four hours luckily. However the location did not offer to extend my rental time due to their error. I think that would have been a courtesy.

I was well pleased with my unit except it was on the second floor. Near the top of the stairs it was hard to grab the railing. I have used the vans and units in the future and if needed I will again.

I called to set up rental. The store must have been busy because the call went to the call center. They booked me at the wrong location after I was on hold for 10 min. I went to the store and booked in person.

Poor communication. Showed us storage we believed was smaller size when it was the more expensive size. When we signed the paperwork we were told it wasn't what we thought and we would have to climb stairs to use the one we wanted. And the door to the building we were shown did not stay open, was difficult to get open and we were given the wrong code. Will not be back.

Storage unit hot and damp, bugs,customers filth left behind in areas , security doors many times in the past would not close, truck went out on me last year at a ATM machine in bad neighbor all I wasn't charged for the last few blocks I was away from the U-Haul I was stranded there for over a hour blocking other customers those just a few my complaints I'm hopefully in a better apartment that I will not have to move any time so.

The only problem I encountered was trying to rent a dolly. They needed a DL and all I have is an ID. Turns out my moving friend showed up with a dolly and it became a non-issue.
