Archie AkersThis location is great, bathroom and area was clean. Selection of Uhaul trucks/trailers is excellent. Very helpful employees who knew what they were doing. I would like to see the dual axle 6x12 Utility Trailers added to the one-way rental options. I did have to drive out of my route to pick this up and take it back. I understand it is probably a business decision so no big deal.

Mary BocOverall my experience with this location was good. The lot is a bit cramped when returning trailers etc in. Many yrs ago I had a hitch installed there with no complaints and they did the job while I waited. The 'bad' experience I had was the overwhelming smell of Marijuana in and around the building. I'm not saying it was the employees engaged in smoking the stuff but both times, during pick up and return there were questionable people hanging out front of the building. Both times with very little space in the lot as mentioned above these folks were parked in crooked or just not in a parking space all. This created even more complicated situations when turning trailers etc around. These same people seem to be visiting and not there as customers. It was more of a Friday night street and meet sort of thing. The state does allow smoking of Marijuana but only in the privacy of one's home and not in the public space of a well known business as U-Haul. The employees were very knowledgeable and easy to explain and make my rental experience good. Namaste

I only drove 32 miles, just want to put that in here because I rented one at another location and they tried and did charge me for 238 miles when round trip was less than 30. Merci!

Tina WallerCheckout was a little confusing. Clerk could not confirm whether or not unused prepaid mileage would be charged or be deleted from my bill. Found that somewhat frustrating that she could not give me an answer. Kept referring to "they" which raised some questions.

SHIRLEY PLEASANTYour manager is a liar. I was charged the 11 insurance after waiving it online. When I tried to get the vehicle through the ap, it kept crashing and I had to go inside. When I inquired about the charge he said " It is a mandated charge. Without it we could not rent to you." He refused to refund the charged. When I rented this time, again I waived the coverage, avoided dealing with the employees... no problem, was not a mandated charge. When I went in and requested a 10' box truck, the same manager said "we have no 10' available but we have a 15'" I asked if it would be for the same price as the 10' he quickly laughed and said "oh, no" (there was three 10' trucks on the lot at 10AM, 12:30 PM, 3PM, and still there at 4:30 when I pick-up the van I reserved "ONLINE"... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR... Rent online and avoid the liars employed at 2400 Riverside Drive, Danville VA, they will lie to you, overcharge you, and are no assistance whatsoever. I had my last rent with that location.

He didn't really explain. I realize he added insurance. I didn't want the insurance. He said something about commercial insurance. I told him he I didn't see that pop up. So I ended up paying for something I didn't want and riding in a truck that smelled like underarms

Cynthia Evans | Expérience généraleI could not have had a worse experience. When I arrived at the building the dock was blocked, so I was unable to move into the unit. When I called customer service, I was transferred to the GM's VOICE MAIL. So not only was I not able to move my items into the storage unit, I had to put more miles on the rental truck, at a cost of like $2?? a mile, and spend two more hours unloading everything I had spent two hours loading into the truck. On top of this U-HAUL CHARGED ME TWICE. I spent HOURS on the phone with various customer service people, to no avail. My money is being held hostage because this company will not release the hold they have on the SECOND charge. It is 2 days later and I have yet to have a phone call returned from the facility. So, I am out $500 for renting a truck that had less than one hundred miles put on it and my house is full of all the items I couldn't place in the storage unit. I'm a LITTLE upset. Thanks for coming to my TED talk on what awful customer service looks like!

They then told me to go to unit 25, which was also full of furniture. I was then assigned a smaller unit. When we got thereit had a lock on it. Then lock was remover and we were able to move in. The smaller unit barely held the things I had to store. I resllg needed the 8x8. And, with all of the moving around, I hadbyonpay for an extra hour for the helpers.

I was spoken to rudely by a associate about my past due balance. Haven't had access to my cell phone for some time and my items in my storage unit was sold from under me and I'm very displeased with the outcome. I didn't have any control of what happened to me and been on my death bed for months and to survive and overcome this just to have all my belongings sold. My memories of dead family members priceless can't be replaced I might as well died to loose the memories of my dead child,mother, grandma. I'm hurt.

I was not notified by email nor phone call that a leak had occurred in my specific units! The manager Darren Bennett even acknowledged that he was aware of the leak and failed to notify me. This is unacceptable to come back from serving your country and I had no furniture to furnish my house with!!!
Tiffany Wilson | Expérience généraleThe only entrance I was shown was on a old loading dock for semi trucks, the U-Haul trucks are several feet lower than the dock so every thing has to be lifted up to get it into the building. The small area is normally filled with so many U-Haul trucks that you can't get in or out easily with a regular truck let alone try to pull a trailer in and out.

The staff were helpful but I'm not a fan of the check in process. Storage rooms are also far away from the entrance so if you have a lot of things to store, it'll take forever to put it away. Ended up going to the storage facility across the street, process took 5 mins.

Kathy Johnson | Premières impressionsFacilities are not set up for moving. There is no ramp to be able to push your stuff up to get it up on the dock. You have to lift everything over a huge concrete wall. The lack of parking is absolutely ridiculous. UHaul trucks are packed in the parking lot like sardines. It is almost impossible to get a truck and trailer in the parking and be able to turn it around and leave when you are done. The front of the cement wall where you load and unload your stuff is slippery in front of the drain and is nasty with all of the trash sitting there in the water. Huge safety issue. We ended up leaving and going to another storage unit because we had to wait so long to back up to the dock to unload our things. UHaul really needs to find a better location within the city of Danville for the storage units. One where there is a ramp and you don't have to lift your furniture over a huge cement wall and there is plenty of space for the trucks to be parked and then for your customers to still be able to access the storage units.
