Price for the rental is intentionally misleading. Cargo van for a short time in town cost was over $60. Advertising it for $19,95 with added fees mileage, gas purchase is complicated and confusing. Really creates a bad feeling at checkout like you have been taken. Realistically it is 3 to 4 times more

The GPS took me to a driveway location where several trucks were blocking the way from easily dropping off the trailer. I realized after attempting to maneuver the trailer and not block the drive that there was a back drive area less visible from the main road after hours.

I notified that it's only a fencing above the unit's and birds left droppings and feathers on my personals I was told there trying to take care of the problem but never did I had to clean all my stuff once I got it moved out and bo type of accommodation after I asked about it

Only issue I had, and it's not the fault of the location or it's staff. Ecauw this rental was from another state and there is not a no smoking policy- but the truck has the heavy stink of cigarette smoke, as do most U-Haul rentals. I'd like to see a no smoking in vehicle policy instituted.

Rented a cargo van to use for approximately 80 miles. They gave me a van with only a quarter tank of gas. Luckily it was enough. I have never used a rent by the mile service before. No one told me I have to put gas in it before return. Again I'm a newbie. I used 1/8 tank and they wanted to charge me $30. That is a crime! Do better U-Haul. And make sure ur reps have vans properly fueled to begin with and explain the process of return in detail!

I asked for a pick up at State St in New Haven Ct, 2 days before the rental I was called and told there were NO 10' trucks at that location and they didn't have the resources to get one there... I had to go to the Dixwell Ave. Srore... On 12/21 I drive by State St and there were at least 6 - 10' trucks at the location.. When I asked why, I was told "those trucks had already been reserved"??? I made my reservation 2 weeks prior... Then Zi was told "oh they're only local trucks, you have a one way rental" Maybe you should step up your game an honor the customer's wishes? $2 000 I gave you and you can't accommodate me? I will NEVER rent from U-Haul again...

Bird dropping and dead crickets were found on my belongings when moving out of the unit. Multiple increases in rent, were unexpected. If this was in the rental agreement, it should be highlighted and mentioned when signing. It doesn't feel right that the rent gets increased once you're already moved into the unit and have no choice but to pay it. The notices sent to notify of rent increase site increased cleaning procedures, which in hindsight is even more offensive since i found bird droppings and dead bugs on/in my belongings

I was in the lobby waiting to be attended. Few workers came in and stood behind the counter, I let a few minutes pass by. Then i asked if anyone could please help me with a purchase i made online. The woman in the front had a nasty attitude, rolled her eyes and responded with "no we cannot help you, we are all attending to customers." I had hoped she would say instead "someone will be right with you or just wait on a bit for us" One of the other employees, tall guy, was very kind and friendly. We asked him several questions as to where is the rental and what's the process. The next day, my uncle went by himself and needed another storage unit to rent. The same tall man attended him without me being there for purchase which was very time saving for everyone.

For this particular location, there is very little parking for going into the office. Apparently people who rent vehicles leave their personal cars in the few parking spaces adjacent to the office while they are out all day with the rental. Not sure where the employees park. Why don't you require customers picking up rentals to park their personal vehicles further down in another lot so spaces are left available for customers who need to come into the store?

I reserved a guaranteed ground floor unit months in advance but I was told none were available when I arrived to store my belongings. It made things more difficult and I was disappointed that I did not receive any warning of the change in availability. Move out was a much smoother experience.

I booked the storage unit first for one month, then a U-Haul one-way trailer a couple of days later. When booking the trailer, I was informed that rental qualified me for one month free rental on a storage unit, the same size I had just rented a couple of days earlier. I called customer service to see if I could get the one month refunded, giving me the benefit that I qualified for with the trailer rental. I was told no. It is unfortunate that this info wasn't on the website for the storage unit rental too, and I would have booked both at the same time.

Absolutely horrible experience. It should be WIDELY advertised that the Hamden location has no elevator. I got there with an entire truck full of heavy household items, only to find out my unit was on the second floor, and to get up there I would have to carry a huge cart up and hope it didn't tip/fall down. Luckily the two people at the front desk were very kind and accommodated my concern. But this is a very poor display of service on Uhaul's part. Extremely disappointed and what a huge inconvenience to have to find an alternative option in a moments notice. I will absolutely not be returning.

I paid in advance for 3 months in May when I got there in august my access card did not work and when I followed was told I owed a balance which was not true. Additionally there was a lock put on my unit for no reason. The clerk was ready to charge me even though i prepaid.

Special acknowledgment to Ms. "Shaq" ( cleaning department) it is the cleanest storage facility ever. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Matt at the front desk is super knowledgeable and explains everything very well to the customers. Most grateful for your dedication. Asked to have bill paid by cc automatically every month, then I got a bill which I figured was just to tell me what was going to be charged. Then I get a late notice and when I called and explained the person didn't even offer to waive the fee. When I went to the unit it was still locked out, I asked someone to remove the lock which she did. Then someone else came and said in a rude manner that next time I'm late I need to stop in the office and ask to have the lock removed. Great way to treat a new customer.

My experience with uhaul was perfect. The moving process was made so much easier with uhaul's resources. Fair price, the store has anything and everything i needed for moving. The staff is always cheerful, polite, and very helpful. I'll recommend this uhaul site to anyone i know is moving. Next time i need storage i will come back to this site. I'm even going to invest in UHAL stock. Thank you all for making my move easier.

The manger Felix , wouldn't let me store my items there because of a situation that happen at another facility, not his facility. Nobody did not ask me what happen , they took word from one person to another. The trainee on water street was rude , he had bad customer service and the things he was saying to me was so disrespectful. Shame on you Felix, and I hope another family is not in a situation and you take word of someone else . You wasn't even there . As a manger you should of ask what happen to see what my side was , but I felt like you guys saw, a black woman and automatic label me as a ghetto , section 8 loud mouth woman . Nope you have it all wrong , Iam a hard working single mother that carry 3 jobs . I provide for my kid , no assistance, no help I work for everything. Neither less to say I have less than 24 days to find a home for me and my child . So excuse me I can be under some stress, so if I took it out on the other guy I simply apologize but that still don't excuse the fact how he talked to me and how Felix acted.

Never again!!! I received No communication for 1 yr due to Covid is what I was told. I forgot I had the unit and then was told to pay or unit will be sold. Not one call or email for a year then that? My name was blasted all over the newspaper auctioning for a unit that had nothing in it. Also you can never get through to anyone in the local office. Just terrible!

This was the worst experience ever. I got to the storage place and after driving from NYC to Connecticut for almost 3 hours, they didn't have a storage available for my things. They had to change the storage place to another city so I had to drive more than what I expected. On top of that you have the audacity to change me 0,43 cents for extra mileage.

The only concern I had were the visibility of the rat traps that were very large and the mice traps inside the storage area. The storage doors also had significant space between the bottom of the door and the floor, which would allow for rodents to access.

The smaller units were surprisingly dingy. We ended up needing a larger one, which was much nicer. But I would never want to store my belongings in the smaller units. They were dark and did not look very well maintained or secure.

I had a reservation, but was sent to two different locations. I don't understand the purpose of a reservation and then no storage guarantee. I was misinformed twice. The manager at the Hamden location Joe did turn it around for us it wasn't his error. He went above and beyond and was able to get us a storage after traveling from out of state.

The only drawback was the fuel charge. We returned the truck with the same amount of fuel we started with, but was expected to bring it back with more than we started with and was charge $6,17 for fuel. We our trip was 13 miles in total. A definite fuel ripoff

There was an employee named Kay (I think that was his name) who was absolutely amazing. He answered all of our questions and was super helpful and friendly. Very professional and knowledgeable and was a huge help. After a 12 hour, multi state trip he was a wonderful friendly face to greet us. Everything was streamlined and easy. I cannot express enough how great he was. Please promote him.
