For starters the online process was tedious and annoying!!!! To capture a selfie and ID photos that wouldn't save, to finally getting it completed, being told online for completion you get a complimentary lock for your unit to get there and be told they no longer offer that special at this location was beyond disappointing!!! Trying to complete it online, the lock was the incentive that I still had to pay for!! What was said online wasn't honored in store!! Then after struggling to finally get it completed online to have them have to take pictures of your id all over again there.....felt like I waisted time doing it online!! I was completely lost finding my unit as you only get a map and no assistance beyond that, walking over several puddles within the building by the storage units from wherever the water was coming from due to the rain was crazy!! But the storage unit itself was clean, no complaints there!!! I do love that you can park inside to move your things, because the rain yesterday was crazy!!

I had a little problem accessing the building the first time could only get through 1 door and I was supposed to get a free lock with my unit and there wasn't 1 besides that I like the facility also the fact that you have rest rooms for people to use I another unit with public storage and good luck if you have to go to the bathroom

My drop off location was changed and I was never notified by uhaul. My original drop off was exxon parkway in union new jersey. I get to the Exxon gas station and the guy tells me No, he cant take it. To make a long story short, it was a back-and-forth situation come to find out uhaul was at fault because my location was changed, so I'm sitting there in the rain. Soaking wet after just moving a 3 bedroom Apartment to have the deal this . I'm on the phone with A receptionist resolving the matter she tells me I will not get charged any further charges. Because now I have to drive to a new location (225 Long). For me to cancel that location and the guy tell me. OK, everything is that he's gonna send me that receipt. And when I get home you try to charge my card for $75. The entire drop off experience was unacceptable and unprofessional. For me to have to sit in the rain for thirty to forty five minutes to get something that I had no knowledge about.

I still haven't received my invoice for my charges. I took the vehicle to check it in. They told me they couldn't do it at the time and didn't check the vehicle in as I requested when I receive to deliver back the vehicle to make sure everything was OK.

U-Haul could train the technicians at the location. Rented a 6x12 trailer and the person there who installed it to my truck did not lock it correctally. After loading the trailer to go to Florida from New Jersey it came off the hitch. Thank god I was only going 25 miles an hour before entering NJ Turnpike. The trailer hitch went under and hit my bumper. It made some damage to my truck bumper. U-Hall service people need to be more carefull.

I thank the staff for being kind. However my overall experience was not good. I don't know much about driving trucks, and I had to ask the staff to help me find the truck. They offered no tips on safety and precautions. While I'm sure it's all in the paperwork, I would not refer U-Haul to a friend because of the complexity of checking in online, and the same for dropping off the equipment. I tried to download the app which I didn't want to, it took 10 minutes and I only did it because I feared paying for assistance to drop off the equipment.

The storage facility was suitable for storage needs. My only concern was the end of the storage service. The units were sent to auction. The manager Tesha and I spoke at 11am regarding the options of whether I paid the full amount or half the unit cost. We both agreed I would pay half and have access to the unit until 10pm the same day to remove the items. Any items I couldn't move should left and it would be trashed. I requested additional time and she refused. Tesha stated she was leaving at 2pm for the day. I left my job to meet her, pay half and review all the items I could. Days later she calls me to chastise me about the items I left. I left the storage unit open as she previously requested. On this call she yelled, over talked me and lied about what our conversation was. She said the call was recorded. I told her good run the recording back. I ended the call very upset and disturbed that as a customer with a corporate account that I was treated this way. This is the second occurrence with her that I had, the 1st time involved renting a truck and then the days were reduced by her. Her reasoning was she gave was other people need the truck. I ended up going to the Newark location and the manager was super helpful. I would never recommend the Hillside location under her management. In the 1st case I contacted the regional manager that was able to assist me. Tesha refused to give me the number luckily I had an email from 3 years prior with a direct cell phone contact to the regional person. I have never had a problem with any other employees in the Hillside location and my corporate account has been open for several years. My biggest frustration was Tesha yelling at me and demanding more money after she stated I only had to the end of the day to remove items. So from her call 11am until 10pm of the same day was all the time she would give me.

i had a young man store my motorcycle on the 6 floor a gas motorcycle at that !!i did not k ow it was prohibited u til a week later another employee saw me bringing y bike in.i notified the front desk where i was treated like a animal and had the hillside police called on me and i will be reaching out to corporate and did not receive a refund but they emailed me a receipt Thanks alot racism still lives in our country 2 thumbs

Lazy people locked doors at 5:00. Was told to rent online not in store. Uhaul was covered in ice no way to get any help or tools to clear windows. No exhaust at all no radio at all. The guy at front desk was too busy with his phone to do anything. Never will go here again

I was disappointed that the manager did not tell me about the promo when you get a truck you get 1 month free storage. Homero was kind enough to help refund the month back and get us a bigger room. Promotions or deals should be discussed with customers as a incentive to return or stay.

Homero was helpful on assisting with our concerns. Unfortunately the staff/manager tesha did not suggest any promotions going on such as rent a truck and get 1 month free storage. My friend told me about that promotion. I bought up this concern to homero and he was able to refund my money for the storage unit first month

My first time at this location. Customer service was poor. The worker, a man sat and explained everything to me as if I should have known what to do on my phone. No help whatsoever and not very peopler friendly. I will not be renting from this location again if I can help it. Upon returning the truck, a different man was on shift and he was much nicer.

My experience was super poor, and the customer representative was unprofessional and acted like she would rather be doing something else than talking to me on the phone. Online check in promised a free key in the unit but front desk said they are out of keys and did not provide one. Honestly this is unacceptable. I did not ask you for a free key as a favor. You promised it yourself and did not fulfill your promise.

The storage unit that was assigned to me was the right size I needed. However, the floors in the unit was dirty with some sort of nasty looking spillage stuck on the floor.

The storage units are great but the air quality for people with asthma or bronchitis can be almost exceedingly dangerous. The staff weren't very informative, one specifically anyway, her instructions weren't very clear and she seemed dismissive. As my friend and I waited patiently to be served we felt dismissed with how we were helped. I don't recommend people to this location for that very reason.

The door was always broken which made move in and outs super difficult as we had to squeeze through a small door for large items! We moved in on 07/31 and the main door broke, we moved out on 09/02 and again the door was broken. Luckily about 1 hr into our move out a lovely staff person fixed it!!

While my online experience was great and most important, convenient, my in-person experience with the General Manager, Tesha Williams, was quite the opposite. It seems like the location as a whole should take a few classes on professionalism since even when it comes to people working outside, they talk to you however. As if, you are supposed to just know where to go, even if it's your first time. Upon checkin, I was supposed to be given a lock, for free. Since they ran out I was told I could go across the street to Ace hardware to buy my own. No one mentioned being reimbursed. I had previously rented a truck and was due to return it the same day so I pulled in the garage and drove all the way to the end which is where the most convenient elevator for my unit was. There was barely any parking available due to whatever construction was going on so I parked the best way I could and proceeded to unload the truck. After three trips I get ready for my fourth and final. Tesha and another employee had begun walking around and were complaining about what another customer had done when they asked if the vehicles near me were mine. I said yes and the employee said oh okay good. Tesha abruptly stated that I'd have to move. I said okay I'll move after I finish unloading and was told that that wouldn't be suffice. She said no, you have to move now. She pointed to a piece of cardboard stuck on a cone and off to the side that said no parking. I told her with a big truck you can barely see the cone. She said since I didn't want to move right then and there she would simply evict me. I asked her her name as she walked around with a bedazzled cup sipping away. She gave it and her title and proceeded to stare me down while I finished my unloading. Tesha is rude, unprofessional, says/acts how she likes and after having this experience, I see that other customers have complaints about her as well. It's a shame that this is the standard UHaul is comfortable representing them and no actions have been taken. *It was not until after I left that Tesha had the employee move the cones to block the path and use caution tape around the pillars to properly show the area shouldn't be parked in.

The access code initially didn't work. When pressing for help no one came. After troubleshooting for 20-30 minutes, we realized it was a two step process; check-in at a machine then access to the elevator. After calling the facility I was informed by the worker she was alone and couldn't come to assist. My unit was supposed to come with a lock which wasn't there. I called U-haul customer service to secure a larger unit and cancel my current unit, it wasn't a lot of help. The whole process was convoluted and stressful. The administrative process made move in much longer than it had to be. Contacting this location is also difficult because calls are forwarded to corporate, and high doesn't help when you're at the storage facility.

Well, my first experience wasn't good. I made a reservation on the phone to another location, I asked for a 5×5 or a 10×5 unit, but they had other measurements. When I went to receive the unit was a little closet or locker how they call it. I had to climb a ladder to get access to. It was terrible, specially for me since I have a recently injured knee and foot . I removed my name from that reservation to go look for something more convenient. The personnel at that location recommended going to this location in Hillside to get the type of unit I was looking for, and I am extremely satisfied with the building, and the customer service I received. The only missing piece is Military discount for service members.

One of the staff was very belligerent towards me albeit everyone else was super friendly. I would have appreciated her being a little less abrasive. The only issue I had was the time. The time should be 24 hr access. I work 2 jobs and sometimes needed to get something from the storage or put something in and I can't because your closed at 7. Yesterday I had to leave work early just to make sure I cleaned out the storage in time before closing. And even when I first moved in my stuff was outside the storage for the night because even tho I was checked in and in the building the elevator stopped going up because it was 7. I was extremely upset called the manager to see if there was anything that could be done to put the items outside the storage inside and I'd fix them the next day but nope I was SOL. Fix the timing if someone is paying 165 a month for storage they should be aloud 24hr access. Competitors are 24/7 just saying. Next time I'm going somewhere else because they're 24hrs.

There were no directional signs when driving into the storage area. I drove through the entire unit looking for an exit, I turned around and drove back to the elevator. An angry employee approached me. I explained my situation being 1st time in this facility. She understood then assisted me by getting a lock for my unit.

I can not thank Danielle enough for all her hard work. She was extremely courteous, understanding, friendly, professional and accommodating. This is my second encounter at this facility. I had my belongings shipped to this facility from California via the U-Box services and I couldn't be more happy with management and the staff. By far the best customer service I have experienced in any storage facility. I've had storage units with other companies but nothing tops what I've experienced at Uhaul as a whole. I think move in procedures need to be explained to customers in a better manner. I wasn't informed that we could drive into the bottom of the storage facility to unload our belongings if we had smaller vehicles. I also wasn't told until the day I moved in they if I had a large Uhaul truck that i couldn't unload in the loading area. I was forced to unload my things then put them back in the truck. An employee said the storage unit isn't supposed to be open yet and they could get shut down by the state if we unloaded in the front. That was incredibly frustrating and wasted our time. We had to then move the truck to a basement entrance and unload in the basement and walk far to an elevator in the dark, unlit basement. It was probably the most frustrating move in that I've had to deal with at any storage facility.

David was all the time ready to help me with anything I needed since I am moving to new house, he did the same when I moved from my old house to the Uhaul warehouse to stored my thinks because I sold my house. This is the kind of service we need in cases that me. I will say that David is a credit to your business. Also I want to say that Omar the office manager was very profesional and help me to do my moves very easy. I used this office three times so my comments reflect the service is very consistent , helpful and profesional. I will use anytime I will need it and recommend to my friends.

The associate Danielle was extremely helpful and friendly she made a sad experience of putting things in storage bright for me. She was timely thoughtful and walked me through the steps of the lock and access card process. The company should be happy to have employees like her helping as her attitude and job commitment validated my mindset that uhaul was the right choice

The storage facility was clean, well lit and easy to get in and out of. I had a bit of a problem trying to get in touch with someone after my daughter moved her things out but I did receive a call back from a manager after speaking with a receptionist.

Daneisha Brown was very nice with excellent customer service skills. She was very helpful with great knowledge of the business. Her tour of the facility was wonderful. She took her time to explain everything we needed to know and made sure we comprehend the entire access process. I would highly recommend uhaul storage.

The time is not good , not enough time staying open . You guys closed at 5pm . Really not good abs you can't check in with the office open .. not good.

Accessing the facilities is difficult, I once went on a Sunday and the employees keys did not work. I could not access my unit. There is a lot of humidity and lot of dust.

The girls that helped were great i busy work someone would have mentioned I can only access my unit until 7:00 pm. And not 10:00 pm

We rented a storage unit at the Hillside NJ facility which was listed as having office hours Sunday 9-5. Further, I called UHaul the week prior to confirm I would be able to move in on Sunday and that there would be someone there to receive me and help me access my unit. Upon arriving the building was completely closed / abandoned. There were no visible signs that it was open / closed / a valid UHaul facility. We walked around the building for an hour and knocked on doors and it was completely vacant. Having no other choice, given we had a full UHaul truck of our belongings, we called the nearest UHaul storage location in Elizabethtown. Had it not been for the manager of that facility, Omar, who drove over and let us in, helped us move and waited for us to finish and lock up, we would have gone to a different moving and storage company. Omar was incredibly helpful and patient and we can't thank him enough. That being said the fact that I was able to reserve a unit for a scheduled move in date at a facility that is abandoned / not occupied on a regular basis is inexcusable. We had paid a lot of money to reserve the storage unit and the truck we filled with our belongings, all of which would have been wasted if not for the kind help of Omar.

Danielle was absolutely fantastic! She was informative, helpful, patient and all around made a "not fun" task and end to a long day better. She should be commended and rewarded for her attention to detail, flexibility and hard work to manage such a large operation with many moving parts. I hope her managers realize what a great employee they have and she is compensated accordingly. You don't want to lose her. I checked I am not happy with the hours of the location (8am-4pm) currently, but I assume once the facility opens fully the hours would be extended later.
