Using the drive up "car" service, very helpful convenient. But it seems any car could enter platform (even with a car existing in spot) leaving open a few minutes before closing. Point-leaving personal property exposed/open when one is moving about (un)loading in facility. Maybe door should not open if a car is in position, to secure other person's property. Otherwise Excellent Services when needed. No other place with great price and customer service! Mahalo Sherry and Staff!

It grossly overestimates the amount of fuel one needs to put back in to get it to the proper level. Do not use.

I tried using the App for rentals, but it doesn't seem to recognize that I'm reserving on a business account (maybe I'm missing something there). I do want to mention the wonderful support the American Red Cross of Hawaii is receiving from the Honolulu Traffic Management Office and especially the Kahului office manager, Sherry, who bends over backwards to support our efforts serving the survivors of the Maui Wildfires. We've presented her with very challenging last minute requests and she has been expeditiously and graciously solved them.
John DI have never had a better experience with storage or rental vehicles than this U-Haul. Management and all employees are so helpful. The entire facility is spotless and well-maintained. I had to extend my cargo van rental many many times and each time they were so accommodating, including when customer service for general U-Haul took my calls on off-hours and holidays. Can't recommend them enough and will be a loyal customer because of their good service.

Everything in me said too take a picture and I did not, because why would someone tamper with that. We drove a total of 13 miles and for some reason it said we drove over 40 miles, which was completely un true. There is no way! We went from our home which is 3 miles from destination 2 x's which was about 12 1/2 miles to over 40 miles. I was very disappointed because we are repeat customers.

I called to correct the error and the staff said I had to call the owner Shelly because it was a computer error and they couldn't issue a refund. I have yet to receive the refund.

Alvina KBarry did not know how to hook up the chains from the trailer to my truck, told me to come out of my truck and to hook up the chains myself. Told him I'm not comfortable doing that. He grabbed the mechanic who ended up doing it. While Barry was finding the mechanic, I discovered that the trailer was only about 70 % tightened onto my ball hitch mount. Told Barry this, which he insisted he was going to finish doing- but why would he move onto the chains if the trailer was not completely tightened onto my ball hitch mount? Regardless, this is a catastrophic safety protocol failure on more than one level, and is just asking for someone to be seriously hurt, if not end up dead because of such safety protocol failures. Hope those that need to see this end up seeing this, mahalo.

And even that truck was not very well cleaned but was better than the first... and it had a hairline crack in the passenger side mirror when I received it. Also I was not asked to walk around the vehicle with staff and mark any previous damage on the rental agreement . Then after final RECIEPT was sent for 235, I see they also charged another 63 to my account... Which I NEVER RECIEVED ANY EMAIL, TEXT OR OTHERWISE ABOUT ANY NEW CHARGES ... THE GAS WAS FILLED TO PICK UP SPOT , AND I WASHED AT A CAR WASH BOTH INSIDE AND OUT OF TRUCK AND IT WAS WAY CLEANER THAN WHEN I RECIEVED IT.... AND AGAIN NO RECIEPT OR EXPLANATION OF ANY NEW BOGUS CHARGES FOR THE 63 THAT U CHARGED MY CARD FOE WHICH SENT MY BAND INTO NEGATIVE.... I EXPECT TO BE REFUNDED THAT MONEY PLUS ANY AND ALL CHARGES THAT CAUSED ANY THING ELSE IN MY ACCOUNT TO OVERDRAWN WITH THE OVWR DRAFT FEES BECAUSE OF UHAULS UNEXPLAINED CHARGE THAT WAS TAKEN FROM MY BANK 2 DAYS LATER AFTER FUNAL RECIEPT WAS ALREADY SENT AFTER TEUCK DELIVERY...... Lisa M | Online Move InHi there- I rented a 10foot uhaul at my local uhaul spot here in Kahului, Maui. The staff on duty was kind, but didn't seem very well informed… I'm guessing I may have caught a few employees on their first week of work? Which is fine I understand. I was directed to the left of the parking lot and told to find the matching truck number to my keys. I came in after 17 minutes of searching, and she said "oops sorry, i sent you to the wrong end of the lot." The lot was huge! I asked if she could walk with me to help me save time, and she rolled her eyes and said "sure." I was starting to get a little bummed that I chose uhaul if this was what the service was going to be like :/ I got into the truck and realized the rear camera wasn't working… so there was no way to see what was behind me while I was backing up. I went back into the front desk, mentioned my concern and they looked at eachother puzzled for about 2 straight minutes and said nothing. Finally someone just said, "none of the cameras are working on the trucks". When I said that didn't seem safe, they just said… "ya…" It is what it is. I'm still thankful to have a uhaul location in my area, but I thought it at least worth mentioning that none of the trucks have working reverse cameras in them :/ sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Thank you for hearing my concern, and I hope I can give uhaul another chance.

Eric WI could not lock my unit. The locking mechanism did not work. Some of the locking mechanisms in nearby vacant units seemed ok. I wasted a lot of time going back & forth to the office trying to fix this problem. Finally someone in the office escorted me to my unit & "unstuck" the stuck mechanism. To avoid future problems of this nature, please have your staff check & verify that all locking mechanisms work properly OR have a staff member escort a new customer to their unit to ensure everything is ok. I also wasted a lot of time locating my storage unit. Another new customer took the time to help me. We wandered around for a while in the maze of storage units. Having a large customer friendly diagram posted inside would have made it easier. I had to pull down the door of other units to find mine. Also, I requested a unit closest to the door. Manager Sherry informed me that everyone wants a unit closest to the door & policy is to start from the back. I disagree. First come; first served. Can you switch my unit to a vacant one closest to the front entrance? I am a senior & that would be a big help. I want to get in & out of my storage unit quickly, efficiently, & safely. Thank you for listening to my concerns. Appreciate the good customer service from your staff during the past two weeks when I went in several times to secure a storage unit. Looking forward to your response.

I also rented a cargo van and they took such good care of me. I really appreciate it and will be happy doing business with U-Haul going forward because of your wonderful team in Kahului Maui. The facility is clean (spotless), the manager and customer service agents are all so kind and helpful and I feel good knowing my tools and belongings are safely stored. The van is also in excellent condition and I may opt to rent it longer if allowed because it is such a good vehicle and helpful during my move from Oahu to Maui.
Sarah G | Premières impressionsIt's a beautiful facility and convenient however these are my two concerns: 1) when I reserved online it stated a first floor unit but when I came to finalize the unit it was a second floor and the answer was that they did not update the website so I received a second floor unit despite reserving first floor request 2) it took quite a while to figure out where the unit was and how to access it. Staff would be wise to take a couple minutes to walk the customer to their unit.

Lars SThe vehicle had a strong pull to the right… obvious wheel alignment needed, windshield wipers were the worst and of course it had to rain the day I used it… I returned it right at the 24 hr time and after waiting 20 min for someone to help me they charged me for 2 days because they checked me in 20 min after my daily time limit… when I questioned my charge upon being handed receipt I was told they would fix the charges and have not. I live an hour away from that center and will not waste my time or gas to go back

This is the second time this has occurred to me. If there was a competitor on island I would probably give them my business. Sorry U haul I rate this stores location relatively low. Scale of 1-10, ten being the greatest. I.would rate.true customer experience as 5-6

Previous damage impacted driver's door opening. Customer Service did not notice a new arrival return, had to wait 10 minutes and then search out the check out guy.
Gary AAdvertised at 19.95, only after deposit did I learn of 1,59 per mile additional PLUS I had to fill up gas after. I only had vehicle for 2 hours, 8 miles total, fill-up was $25 for 5 gallons. So now we're up to $60. Plus the van doors were damaged and no gas cap? You need to provide more clarity at the onset. Staff was pleasant but seemed distracted, even tho there were no other customers.

Van MI have rented from this location before and have been very happy with the experience. This time, the van was very disappointing. Itg was nicde and clean, with a little over 2 500 miles on it. The engine seemed to run well, but the transmission shifted poorly, with a lot of slippage while shifting in the lower gears. The brakes made some of the most horrendous noised although the vehicle stopped okay.A vehicle this new should not be having such problems.
Robert FWe were fine with the storage and instore customer service. We did experience issues the way Uhaul conducted business. When we first moved in we rented a 15' truck with 2 furniture dollys. A year later I get a late payment notice for $28 + $30 late fee for non payment of the dollys, mind you all this was done during the rental of the truck which we had no issue, just the dollys, the rental process made it look like we were the bad person. I paid that via phone conversation. The move out process was simple and quick. However we were told uhaul does not prorate the rental fees. We had over 16 days left or approximately $139 which I feel should have been reimbursed but could not. This made decision gave uhaul a poor rating. Uhaul keeps peoples money and profits and prey on people. Shame!

Nicholas K | Online Move InI cleaned out my storage space in due time to not be charged any further. I took picture and I sent an email confirming that I had moved out and taken pictures. I also requested a move out several days prior to my scheduled departure, which was granted. I was charged another full month rent on my card. I called to address the issue with the facility, no answer and no voicemail available. I called the "800" number on the website. I waited on hold for a long time to speak with someone, then I waited on hold a long time while someone verified my information, my move out date, etc. The representative from Uhaul I spoke with told me that she verified my account would not be charged, she also verified that I would get an email stating that I would be refunded and not charged. My account has not been refunded, I have not received any communication from Uhaul whatsoever concerning the $200 they took from me that violates our contract agreement. Corporations are happy to take your money, but when it is time for them to do what is right, admit their faults and refund payments they unrightfully took without permission, consent or any right whatsoever the consumer is the one that must sacrifice their time, energy and emotions to get what is owed to them. Uhaul has clearly demonstrated they are no different than any other Giant. My family has lost nearly everything, I have lost my life work, we are facing eviction and homelessness due to a natural disaster that occurred and wrecked our economy. Instead of Uhaul being an asset to the community of Maui, this is how they operate, adding more stress, more debt, more unjust, more unaccountable actions, its sad that Uhaul just cannot do what is right and refund the payment they stole and send me an email confirming that my money has been returned, along with an apology for wasting so much of my time and holding my money hostage while my family suffers the most tragic times that are unimaginable.

The space I was lucky enough to get - a newly vacated 5x10, was not 8' high, but only 6'. The 10' piece l wanted to store was a coupe inches too long, so I had to walk it back to the truck and take it elsewhere; that was annoying. And while a 4'x8' piece of plywood WOULD fit inside if it went in early in the packing-in process, I couldn't even get it through the less-than-4'-wide door to the space. But other than those irritations, the people/process/facility were first rate. My extra stuff is in good hands for the time being. Thank you. P.S. My heart app on my phone told me I set a new record for # of steps: almost 20,000!!!

One visit, there were dead cockroaches on the ground (I counted five on the walk to my unit) and some of the younger staff aren't as knowledgeable or personable as they should be. The key remote/swipe card changeover lead to some complications that could have been avoided with a little more effort on the U-Haul rep's part. It's sometimes difficult to get a hold of the personnel on the phone at this location; and the national call line doesn't have Hawaii - specific answers, but overall, U-Haul Daiiry Rd. In Kahului was a good experience.

This is the first facility that has not prorated a refund. I would suggest not using this company.

The "split-level" unit description was a bit deceiving though. Ground and 2nd floor levels more accurately describe it. Staircases are steep so a ramp would make hand truck use easier. Otherwise I would definitely rent again and recommend to a friend.

Whenever I needed something, they had an answer, had what I needed or knew where to get it. Even when I needed something but didn't ask, someone miraculously showed up and helped or had a suggestion. I can't get over just how "on it" they are. There's not much fun in moving - but the location, the variety of equipment, the retail sales, the self storage, price and of course the incredible staff, make this an experience that's as easy, efficient and pain-free as it's going to get. 5 Stars!!!!

I asked to be contacted when one became available. No one ever called me. It came down to the end of my storage as I was moving off island1/27/23 . I was given a phone number for the uBox. Called 5 times. No one answers and you are on hold forever. I ended up using another Carrier to ship my things back to the mainland.

nadine g | Expérience généraleBooking the moving truck and storage went well. I had no problems with service, accessibility, and rate. The person who checked us in was kind and knowledgeable. After loading the moving truck in Kihei, we drove back expecting to be able to enter our rented storage unit our access was not programmed correctly and we were not able to unload the truck. This really affected my move-out schedule, not only did we have to drive back to Kihei with a loaded truck but now we would have to go and return and unload the next day. When we returned the next day, I explained the situation to the woman who was working. She got up and shipped the card and said" well ... it is working now..." without any explanation, or promise of refund for having to keep the truck, and milage that was through no fault of our own. After leaving the office very dissatisfied we tried to pull the truck into the garage to no avail- a random person let us in. After setting the alarm off that same person came and asked if the clicker was working and fixed it for us. The 4 1/2 hours it took unloading the truck because of the homeless people who were coming in and out looking for anything that was not locked made moving difficult. People in the garage doing who knows what inside of their running car for hours, A homeless man with a swipe card, who would walk through the inside of the storage facility and then sat in the parking lot- right next to my daughter's car/ the parking lot was empty it was horrible. ill move first chance i get

When we moved in one of us tripped on it and caught our foot on the post and hit our head on the glass door. Then we saw another customer trip over the same dangerous post. They should be removed immediately.

That is not true because many other doors have normal padlocks on them. They got an extra lock sale from me because they said it was mandatory.

If I was not already 3 hrs delayed because I had to wait for road assistance to replace a dead battery in the truck which made me pay for 2 guys for 3 dead hours. Having other commitments did not allow enough time to then get another arrangement for the fridge. that is laying on it's side. U Haul has made this move more frustrating than it needed to be. And then charged for late return....

Several times I'd have to get in my car and drive to the front to have them let me in. It was just inconvenient. The actual units were very nice and climate controlled. Bathrooms were not kept up very well. Soap was watered down or nonexistent. It's still one of the better storage facilities I've used in Maui.

Not a complaint but an observation.. during this covid time and noting the signage on the storefront... All staff do not wear face coverings until costumer comes in.. Ok.. Some staff remove their face coverings once outside with customers but then do not take the precautionary self distancing measures. In light of the signage on the front door it might be confusing or disconcerting to customer that not all respectful and safety measures are done diligently.
