According to your website, I could option to check out a vehicle by either using the U-Haul App or by way of counter service. I wanted counter service since I had already reserved the van on your website. I was the first to arrive but was told I needed to use the app by the counter person. I needed to download my license, my Visa information and an emergency contact who wasn't available to call. If you don't offer customer service (counter service) then don't say you do. I will never use U-Haul again. Never. I will pay twice the money to one of your competitors before I use U-Haul again. Customer service is important and since you don't provide it, forget it.

I was very pleasantly surprised how professionally and efficiently all aspects of my move were handled on both ends of my move with Uhaul as well the initial process to retain their services and the movers I hired thru their app. The use of the Uboxes for my move were the most cost effective means for me to move of all options and everything went as smooth as one could hope for. This particular. Location need corporate to remove the entire staff including and mainly the site manager they all, the employees (Excluding) the only very Respectful / Professional older female of African descent (name unknown) not only did multiple staff members give me false and inaccurate information in reference to my truck rental. I Witness personally the speaking and acting rude to other customers. I personally witnessed the staff rude via a phone conversation. I understand I'm just one customer and things may not change, but if this is allowed to go on something more concerning may evolve and my message and my review should be taken into great concern

The bathroom was not always maintained. The website was troublesome to navigate to make payments from time to time. My account page would not always load on first try.

Keys were dropped off the night before. No one ever called me to close out my contract. When I called the first time I was placed on hold for a long time so I had to hang up and go back to work. I called again after work and was on hold for 21 minutes before someone picked up. He put me on hold to take a personal phone call then came back to service me. So unprofessional and unethical. I hope I never have to do business with that location ever again. (I have proof of how long I waited before someone took my call).

To physically go to a location and have to still use your mobile app is a waste of time because there is always an issue. This time it wasn't accepting the pic I took (I must've taken over a dozen pics)…then I realized it's because of their WIFI….my pickup time was for 07:00am, I finally left at almost 09:00sm…first truck (check engine light on), brought it to their attention, gave me another truck, check engine light on AGAIN (and this is after inspection of the trucks, which takes time)…got my 3rd truck (this time they actually brought it to the front)…by the time I got home it was 09:30 (that's a 2 hour difference)…and I had helpers at my house waiting to load the truck…I spoke to the employee about the time frame, she said she was going to amend it. When I finally returned the truck around 9pm, I went to fill out the needed info on the app, it had said 07:30am on 3/29/24 for the return time. That's only 1/2 difference. I obviously returned it way before the time frame, but because of the almost 2 hour delay I didn't get done unloading until 8:45pm…terrible experience.

I'll preface this by saying that the people who were working at this location on Sunday morning were great - extremely helpful, friendly, etc. However, the entire experience of getting my truck felt like a scavenger hunt. 1. The van wasn't where the app said it was, so we had to wander around until we found it. 2. The keys weren't where the app said they were, so we had to head back inside and wait for someone behind the counter to give them to us. 3. We purchased furniture pads which weren't in the van, so we had to go BACK inside and ask for the furniture pads. (Which, again, the people working there that morning grabbed them for us right away) 4. When we turned on the van we learned it had less than 1/8 of a tank of gas. Some of this is a UHAUL problem and not a location problem (if you're going to force people to check in and get their equipment with your app, you should, at the very least, give people the correct information). Overall, a frustrating experience, though the individuals working at this location during our pickup were in no way the problem.

The unit I was assigned #1112 is not what I paid for. I paid to have the same size unit as 2235 and that's not what I received. The only annoying issue was making me switch from using a code to a card to access the buiding. You didn't send an email or anything. I just went and my code didn't work. What if I had gone after hours and really needed to get in? It was bad planning/roll out on your part.

Make sure gas is recorded correctly or tell customers they need to take a picture before dropoff. I drove exactly 2 miles but was charged $13,5 for 1/8 tank of gas. Make it make sense.

The young woman who helped me was great. However this location there's never enough help, customers are left waiting, and the trucks aren't always kept up. There is one truck gas was spilled into, a newer truck, and they still have not had the truck properly maintenance to remove the strong odor. They over charge various times and I have to call each time to get it fixed. The staff needs more help. The trucks need to be maintained better, half have censors that go off too. I'm not sure what the standard is but this is not it.

There are too many migrants and men aggressive standing around you. When you unloading and loading your car. They stand too close to your personal belongings. I felt Very unsafe when, I was on the property.

The team at this location are all knowledgeable, friendly, and overall provide excellent customer service! I rent from this location for my company about 10-12 times between November and March every year, and every year I keep going back because the team there makes the process so smooth and easy. I would highly recommend this location!

I wa supposed to pick up the truck at the Maplewood location and after waiting for over an hour since the wrong key was left in truck, I was sent to the Newark location, once i arrived in Newark, I was told they did not have the truck size i reserved. I was then sent to the Orange location where i finally got a truck, but at this time, I was four hours late because of the incompetency of the first location. I basically paid almost $500 and i got to my destination really late. This is totally unacceptable.

Although I don't speak Spanish, I was able to communicate with the women that worked at the Storage Unit facility, and I found them very helpful. If they couldn't help me they contacted the office for support.

The staff is amazing! Cecilia the General manager runs a tight ship! Due to my business needs I rely a lot on U-Haul to run my business. The rental process is always smooth and quick. The lot is well-lit and organized which makes it easy for me to return the equipment after hours … 10 across the board !

The Manager I can not remember her name Spanish woman was awesome in helping everyone before and even helped me to locate the truck. But what inspired me the most about her was how she encouraged an older woman in a conversation amazing young lady. Sicilian is her name. Keep up the great work.

Facility was nice and clean. Stephanie was a great help. The only part of the time consuming pick up process that was efficient was her. She ping ponged at the register between me and a store full of angry customers. She gave clear direction and instruction better than the app. Answered mine and everyone elses questions. The only reason I'm not rating a full 5 stars is because of what it took to rent. No one likes this self-rental nonsense. Other than that the kind agent outside named Don helped me find and bring down my rental. It was clean and had a full tank. Personnel was awesome, logistics not so much.

I came to uhaul on 1-26-24 for a truck and a storage unit I thought my contract was finished. I paid a upfront service cost of 223 for the unit and on 1-31-24 my experience was horrible. My storage unit was canceled and showed I move out. I needed to regain access to my unit. I was in the middle of a property showing hoping to be in and out of my unit. However that didn't happen I had to renew my contract and making multiple attempt to gain entry access ...I'm very unhappy, however I received excellent service from the gentleman who engaged with helping me to resolve the issue. Not sure if I would recommend uhaul to anyone.

I understand to a point that it's just a part of this new messed up world we're living in, but I do not agree with everything being "self serve." From start to finish, my rental process was done on my phone as per employee instructions. I went in, expecting to be able to rent a truck with a person, but was instead told I needed to make a reservation online, upload my drivers license and personal details online, elect whether or not I want additional insurance online, everything was to be done on my phone. The same was true when I went to return the truck. I had to take pictures with my phone and, yep you guessed it, upload them online. Why even have human employees at all then? May as well just be a facility with security cameras, signs, and QR codes. Just crazy to me. I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to rate the customer service as there really wasn't any.

There is only one person working the registers and also by the equipment. I waited 20 minutes to drop off a trailer because both the customers and staff were slow, but once I talked to the staff, they were very kind and helpful. When picking up the trailer, it took Me nearly 40 minutes to not only wait to get assigned a unit because the lack of staff, it took another 10 minutes they didn't have an extension cable for the trailer to hook up to my hitch harness.

Rental equipment I reserved was not available. One truck they said was due back 21 days ago and had no idea where it was. Then the alternative equipment they offered did not fit the furniture we were attempting to move so it was a complete waste of time.

I didn't like the pest problem which caused me to have to throw out many valuable items. I didn't appreciate how the payment issues caused me to have to pay double and triple amounts regardless of me explaining my financial hardship. I always paid on time before have a hardship. I didn't appreciate U-Haul not having a handicap ramp for the disabled. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING

The staff was polite but she did absolutely nothing. I did all the work on my phone. To me this is awful customer service. I didn't get paid for all that I did and she shouldn't have either. She literally only passed me the key. Not appreciating U-Haul's poor customer service.

The only issues I encountered was sometimes not enough parking and too few carts. I was pleasantly surprised and happy when you doubled the amount of carts that were availability. I made a huge difference of me being frustrated or not.

Overall experience worked out great. However, the 5 x 10 unit was a bit too pricey for me. During my brief use, there was never any tissue or soap in the bathroom. Finally, although I observed regular cleaning, I did noticed an undesired critter at least once each visit. On the other hand, hand-carts were mostly always available and the elevators are huge enough to transport 2-3 customers if needed.

When I got in the cab of the truck at 8:30a, there was a fog of marijuana smell. And it lasted the whole day. I am glad that we were not pulled over, because then I would have been suspected of smoking it.

I rent a lot of trucks and trailers from U-Haul, in many different locations. This is the only one that requires customers to process the rental via their cell phone during regular business hours . All other locations handle it at the counter In addition, I have never rented a truck at this location with more than 1/4 tank of gas.

I picked my u-haul truck up with no gas in it, returned it with gas and I was still charged a fuel fee. This is very poor service, when I found out that I was supposed to receive a fuel credit be it that I received the truck with suck low gas. This location needs to work on customer service.

I didn't get clear instructions on swiping a card going in and out using the elevator. The lock for my storage would be inside and they did not take me upstairs and show me where my storage .They weren't very thorough with explaining everything. There was a lot of men standing around in the parking lot. Rushing you asking if you wanted help that didn't work for the facility very uncomfortable feeling.

The facility was very clean and my unit was free of vermin which made me happy. The costs stayed fair and didn't go up every other month like Extra Space Storage. It was a great experience.

Adrianna Gonzalez was amazing. She helped me with my storage rental and truck rental-even though I came close to closing time and the process took a while. I was pretty stressed out because I was running behind but she put my mind at ease, made me laugh and was great at building rapport. Adrianna took the time to show me the different storage options available, fought through technical difficulties and all of this-again-for a client who came in with 1 hour before closing. I 10/10 would recommend this place to others, just off the strength of Adrianna. I appreciate all the help she gave me.

Unit 1010 should not be on the market. There is a large obstruction (pole) that prohibits customers from having the entire space for use.

That was the worse experience I ever had at uhaul. 1st off my storage rental went from $69 to $139 .... more than doubled .... The facility in Orange was understaffed and the staff that was there spoke or understood little to no English. There was 1 young lady that eventually helped me and she should be gettinga raise. No men were there to help me at all!!! I had to take apart my own tow dolly. I had no idea what I was doing. I was on YouTube trying to find answers and the young lady was told she couldn't do it for me. I was literally on the ground underneath my suv trying to unhook chains. I am a 54 year old woman that should not have been the case. I was charged by the PA facility to put it on and you guys have the audacity to be trying to charge me more money ... for what? I put the gas on the truck and I did not go over the 166 miles I was promised. I actually was under 160 miles. It literally took me 2 hours before I even got my pass key to get in the storage untit. I was at your facility for 5 hours. I left your equipment and truck there in good condition an entire day early ... my experience as a valued customer was the worse ever ... I'm very disappointed and I don't owe you guys 1 more dime with the exception of my monthly storage payment. So please do not attempt to charge my card again. Have a blessed day

I recommend educating the customer to the login procedures, especially with new storage rental customers: 1. Registering code prior to entry 2. Entering code to gain entry/access into the building 3. Entering code on elevator to access the floor. Otherwise the building is extremely clean and the workers are very polite, friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond as it was a very busy weekend.

The majority of the the staff were average at best. It appears to me the a few of the attendants cared more about their personal conversation via mobile phone vs the business phone. I had to drive to the location to resolve a 3 minute issue because i spent more than an hour attempting to resolve my issues via telephone. They wound not answer the phone. I truly believe that location could be have increased revenues if you clean house and hire individuals that want to work and not act like they are doing the customer a favor by doing their jobs they were hired to do. There were at least two wonderful people that truly understood what good customer service is.

We had issues when we arrived. The staff didn't want to honor the "first month free" which is the entire reason we went with Uhaul's storage facility. After a longggg back and forth, the guy asked his manager for permission to grant us the advertised deal. We ended up getting the first month free after all, but what an unnecessary headache.

The male employee (1) that was initially checking me in got into an argument with another male employee (2). He then walked away from the computer without saying anything to me and left. Male employee (2) who was now at the other end of the counter said he was helping me and that is how I knew I had to go over to him and start all over again. Then when the young lady came in he told her what happened and told her to help me check in. If it wasn't for the fact that I had just moved 4 large vanities there and my time with the haul truck rental was almost up I would have went to another facility. It took me so long to get checked in that I was late for my 5pm appointment.

My goods were stolen by your staff.while I was arranging for a Haul to rent. Another uhaul staff authorized the other staff to trash my goods who later returned but not all my stuff. So you tell me how I can recommend anyone to you with that kind of behavior.

This was my first experience with a storage company and I have to say that it was a very positive one. Starting from the beginning with the online selection process up to the day I arrived to collect the lock and key to the unit, the staff was pleasant, and courteous. I appreciate the patience of all the initial staff member that helped me with my selection of a unit. She gave clear instructions on what to do the day I woul move in. I am grateful to the gentleman who came from beyond the cpunter to show me how to get to my storage unit and further talked me through the process of how to access the building. Lastly I am grateful to the gentleman who assisted in getting the tractor trailor driver to move his truck so i could park my car so I could access my the storage unit for the last time. And the young lady that helped me unlock my unit. (I didn't lock it properly and they notified ne of it via email). for helping me finalize the paperwork to close my unit without hasseling me. Thank you staff for being so courtes and helpful.

I didn't find this to be a great location and didn't like be approached by a gang of strangers looking for work each time I wanted to access the storage space I rented. The location and lack of security motivated me to cancel after a couple months and take my things elsewhere.

Lady working in this location was very helpful the room I selected online was to small for my items I thought I needed to go online and cancel and do the bigger room again and it was already a frustrating day with moving but I didn't have to that. The young lady helped me cancel the room and set up new one for me . Was very fast and helpful

The young lady who helped me with this transition went far and beyond in helping me. She was very professional and courteous, considering that I arrived like 10 minutes or 4:55 pm on a Sunday when closing is at 5 pm. She still took the time to help me secure the storage unit instead of brushing me off. My only problem is that I didn't remember her name and I hope she gets the proper credit that she deserves.

Orange, NJ 07050 Is absolutely amazing especially working with Mr.Nadir & Mr.Karl they are amazing people with outstanding customer service excellent communication and made my moving in and out plus truck rental smooth. Definitely recommend this facility it's also clean and well maintained and organized.

I was disgusted and disappointed with the manager Johnathan Diaz. His customer service was terrible and inhumane! I left a message with corporate Felicia, and never received a return call. I moved out my unit yesterday and relocated to another company.

I have no problems to report. Everything and everyone were very accommodating in evey Uhaul storage units I've had over these last few years. Lost my home but not my belongings. Thank you Uhaul 

I enjoy keeping my stuff in the storage all employees was friendly help full. Even those do clean one day I want to use the rest room some was in the one on the first floor she was so nice she tell me one on the third floor that where my storage she even show me it a pleager doing with u keeping up. U-Haul hadn't enough larger space which I had to rent from another rental space company also to handle my other items. I would have love just one location which I felt secure with which was UHaul.

I have used them many times, the facility itself is maintained, there were roaches and mice, I realize it's due to some people's carelessness, not the staff, I would still continue to use them. I would just spray and put down deterrents like I did this time once I noticed the bugs and droppings of the rodents.

I am concerned at the constant rate increases,why? The unit isn't getting any larger and nothing is being done to it.I am hearing from associates and family that are unhappy about the rate increases and are looking for other options. Not a good look to gain more business. There was evidence of rodents, I don't blame the facility for that, they can't control everything that people bring in..I had no problem when I rented with your facility before.

We have been using this facility for over 5 years. We have 8 storage units at this facility, and rent trucks for pickup and deliveries, and other special events at least 3 times a month. We highly recommend this storage facility to our customers.

It was too long from MY destination and it was an expense that wasn't mentioned prior to commitment. This info would definitely allow drivers to plan the trip accordingly in the future. As for this driver I wasn't aware.

The manager at this facility is unprofessional. I asked if I could use this facility to store my motorcycle and they said yes. During the few months at this facility I exchanged numbers with four other customers who have their bike stored there as well. One day the manager approched me and told me to remove the motorcycle from the facility, no bikes are allowed. That put me in a tight spot. If I was told from the begining that no motorcycles were allowed I would have chose another location. The manager has 4 other bikes at this location being stored that I know of. This shows me his poor management skills and he is responsible for leaving customers greatly inconvienced. I will never use U- HAUL or ever refer U-HAUL to anyone as long as I live, especially that mis managed location.

All the staff were friendly and offered assistance right away. The rep I worked with to set up my unit was extremely helpful, personable and thorough, making sure to cover all the details and answer any of my questions. I worked with her both over the phone and in person and she truly made the experience easy and stress free.

In my opinion, the facility could be better with rodent control. I'm very upset to have found rodent droppings all over the unit and finding droppings while unpacking my belongings,. I'm thoroughly discussed! I was previously with a Union NJ storage company for over 10 years and had no issue. Your rates increased last year, I was told the increase was to cover installation for the 2nd elevator, prior to my move out, no 2nd elevator.

In the process of applying for reimbursement for items that I was charged for that I didn't want or received. Even though, the operation was organized, everyone was very helpful and it wasn't a long wait for service. There was one young lady who seemed to be in charge and she seemed very knowledgeable and efficient in handling potential problems. I should have went back into the office and let her know that the items that the rep checked off on were not in the van. I'm sure she could have solved the problem easily and avoided me from being over charged. Didn't think about it until after van was turned in and i was on my way home.

The day I was moving out my storage the automatic doors were not unlocked … told the office rep 3 times to please unlock the doors … advise the rep I am paying movers by the hour and it was slowing them down moving my furniture out the little side door … after 30 minutes rep opened the door but by then it was too late … movers charged me $150 due to I went over my moving time.

Jonathan Diaz and his staff were knowledgeable, polite, professional, accommodating and went above and beyond to help us out during a stressful time in our lives. They explained the storage facility's rules, requirements and safety precautions in great detail which helped us feel confident in our decision to store our belongings with u-haul.. Mr. Diaz was patient with every customer we saw who approached him. He is definitely an asset to the company.

I had some issues with my online reservation and there was not unit available for me. The staff took my number and called me as soon as a unit became available. I am all set with what I needed thanks to the staff.

Very disappointed when I took my things out of storage. There was rat droppings. I often go into the storage and NEVER seen that before. Someone renting other storage units must have food stored in their storage. Now I have to worry about the possibility of taking something with me to my new home. I'm very upset

There is a young lady who works there who is just wonderful. Always helpful and pleasant. I wish I knew her name. She was the one who arrange the last transaction for me. I was moving and every single time I came for supplies she went out of her way to be kind, courteous and helpful. She is great and should be a supervisor - others could follow her lead.
