Michele SRecently the storage unit was opened and was not closed properly. U-Haul's security person put one of their lock tags on it to secure the door from not being opened. I was not informed of this and when my daughter went to the storage unit she found their lock on it. It was quickly removed. My daughter cleaned out the storage unit before the end of March. On the 30th of March I was into U-Haul to let them know the storage unit was now empty and asked about getting April's payment back. The attendant said he would leave a note for the manager who is in on Monday as he is the only one that can issue a credit. Not hearing a word from anyone at U-Haul on Monday I wrote an email to Brandon explaining the situation in full and asked him would I could expect to see my credit returned. No response. On Apr 5th I was back into U-Haul again to speak to Brandon in person. At first he was not in the office but did appear shortly thereafter. He flipped from computer screen, to computer screen, to computer screen and after 15 minutes put a credit through on my credit card. Not very efficient.

Caleb RLocation has been brilliant since it opened. As large and diverse a fleet as could be asked for. However, This truck had no reversing mirror, usually they have a camera/ mirror to assist when reversing. The receiver for the drivers seat belt was busted which could damage your hand when feeling for it. Inside the truck was very clean as usual.

Erny PWhen renting a truck you sign an agreement stating you will return the truck with a quarter tank of gas. When I was given the keys and did the walk around the man mentioned that the tank was a hair under a quarter tank and to just top it up. I was in a hurry so figured it wouldn't be a big deal. I drove straight to a gas station to top it up so that I would know the cost of the gas that I shouldn't have been responsible for, it ended up being $35!!!!! I then used the truck to move a few appliances from Costco to my home, total kms approximately 70 and stopped for gas to top it up as I had agreed to. Went to drop off the truck and explained the situation, the man who had handed me the keys and mentioned the gas being low was not there. They offered me no compensation and I was out $35 for topping up the gas from the previous customer who would have been charged $49 for bringing it back under a quarter. Definitely left a sour taste in my mouth and will not use Speedvale location in Guelph again.

Roger PWhen I picked up my 5x8 trailer it was coated with 2-3 inches of ice on the entire front of trailer and fenders. Ice chunks fell off while driving on 401 as day warmed up, a bit of a hazzard. There were other 5x8s in the lot that were ice free. Why not assign those?
Jay BOrdered a car trailer to go drive 4 hours to pick up and car and 4 hours home….. the staff wouldn't let me hook the trailer up myself said they are responsible for doing it so I said ok when he was done I did a quick walk around and everything. Seemed good….. only to fine out couple hours in we hit a bump on the road and the trailer comes right off the hitch slamming into the back of the truck…. After about 20 min of looking everything over I was confused as to how it happened until I went to hook the trailer back knto the truck I then noticed there was only a 1 1/4 inch ball on !!!! It's supposed to be a 2 inch ball !!!!!!
Dustan BThe truck door seem to have a problem closing properly as wind/road noise and cold air coming thru while driving on the highway was quite unpleasant. More importantly the gas tank was not full and the requirement to return with the same amount of fuel is a total scam. I say this because the guage does not register fuel level until minutes after engine being on so as a customer worried about fuel penalty one would inevitiably put more than required. I pumped in increments of $20, $10, $10, $10 and checking the guage after each by turning on ignition but the guage was registering very little movement. Even after pumping $50 it was still not equal to original. I reluctantly stopped pumping at that point. After driving for a couple of minutes the guage registered proper reading which was way passed the original point. The contract had a note about refuelling which I thought only added to the problem. The gist of what it says is that customer must return with same amount of fuel or return as is for uhaul to pump at a preagreed upon price per litre PLUS service fee. Neither of which was coveyed to me but simply told to bring back with same amount of fuel. You should do better. PS: Your per kilometer mileage charge is ridiculously high and not advertised. I thought the rental would include a certain amount of kms and extra kms put on would be at additional cost. I neede the truck so I had to get it from uhaul but won't make the same mistake again.

James MThis is my third review for this location. I have been to many locations for the U-Haul rental. Overall, with some exceptions the experience has been really shitty! I am sorry to use such language but there is no other way to express the "experience". The equipment is all good and great, however the biggest part of the experience for a customer is the 'human experience'. That interaction 'constantly' has been below average, especially at this location. There is no positivity, cheerfulness or even normal basic courtesy from the basic staff. They seem to be "instructed" not to use words like, please, thank you or other such pleasantries. That's not all! They are quite evidently forbidden even to respond to any such pleasantries. During some of my initial visits I gave the benefit of doubt to the staff, thinking that they must be going through something that I am not aware of or it is a human thing to have ups and downs in life. As this has been the constant factor in their interaction, I feel there is something else going on. The moment you step in, the look on the faces of staff is as if you're there 'to borrow (for free) a mattress from them in the middle of night, the one on which they were sleeping'. Nothing is more unwelcoming than such a cold dead look on the staff. Once you ignore that and move on, be up for some rolled eyes and cold shoulders if you ask some questions. I personally would be happier to transact with a kiosk or a computer than to meet the staff there. Maybe they're not being paid for what they're doing as it certainly seems so. I am not sure if others (which white skins tones!) have experienced this as well, if yes then this is just a behavioural issue. If not, then this is a more serious racist thing as I definitely look "Indian" in my appearance. I feel so humiliated every time I go there. The only reason a lot of people visit them is their monopoly in the business they're in.

I return the truck and they said they returned the money to my card I still have not received it then when I asked they said it might take 3-6 business days . Which is not ok as I needed that money today .

John HMy overall experience with U-Haul was below average from overall maintenance of truck and lack of communication. Firstly the truck I was given under my rental had maintenance issues right off the bat. Something under the body of the truck would make a terrible noise whenever I stopped. As well, upon breaking after 2x days into my journey, the whole truck would shake so violently that I would transfer into the manual gears and go down any hills with a slightly then average decline extremely slow and with my hazards on. Lastly, I was taking this U-Haul from Ontario to Fort Nelson, BC. Knowing I was going into BC, it is mandated in the winter tires or chains. Upon picking up my U-Haul, I expressed this concern but was assured it was going to be okay. Once on my journey and before entering into BC, I called U-Haul again confirming my concerns and was told to get chains. Which is fine, but it would have been a lot better and easier if I was told that before I started my journey so I didn't have to use my allotted km's finding chains and manage this my very strict schedule. Not impressed. Lastly, I called to arrange to get my truck looked at in Calgary while I was enroute, I was told I would have a call on the day the inspection would happen as I was on a time schedule. I never got the call or even a follow up.

patty oTruck windshield covered in ice and snow. No brush nor was it scraped and prepared for us to leave right away. Took 15 mins to clear. Employees were complaining and blaming the computer system for the slowness and having to try 3 different computers to check out.

I was sent invoices for the unit without my knowledge of it existing and spent months trying to correct what was clearing a mistake on the part on U-haul. The U-haul website is aggressive with its advertisement pop-ups, it forces add ons down own throat, and this experience has shown me that it is nearly impossible to get a hold of the people who can do anything about this. I doubt I'll ever use U-haul again. Please fix your costumer service. Less robots, more humans.

Made it very painful to transport goods by hand through the narrow door. As it was not mentioned causing annoyance and pain. Was under the impression that the unit was move-in ready, did not know until getting there and had to meet the front desk clerk 10 minutes before closing to get a lock changed with the security clasp. I am grateful the lock was included free as a promotion as long not lost, but lots of rushing around after getting the house cleared out was a new experience for me.

I'm also absolutely appalled by the the fact that you rent a trailer for $20 and then you have to buy an extension for the brake lights $37 because the one they give you is 1 inch long (also when I asked if we can return the stuff after the guy laughed in my face) and you have to buy a trailer hitch $50 if your vehicle doesn't have one. It's just a huge money grab. The reason we left in the first place was because they keep upping the price of the unit. We started at around $145 and then was paying $200 a month like that's insane. We found a unit for 125$ that's including taxes. People shove garbage in the reuse centre and it's never cleaned out and the alarms that go off every-time you open your unit door that we were told would be fixed 2 years ago still happens so yeah do not ever recommend U-haul. Huge money grab. Will be making sure people know about this dump.

My only constructive criticism is the payment screens - if memory serves correctly, the screens were backward - asking to enter PIN before showing and approving the amount. I might not be remembering correctly, but i do remember that it was very different and confusing than any other interac/credit card payment system i've used in other retail locations. Then, when I was going to move out, a representative said I didn't have to pay the past few days as I'd be paying full month price for 3 days. As a result, I not only got charged full price but actually got charged a late fee on top of that. Then, when I went to confront this issue, the staff proceeded to tell me that uhaul doesn't do prorated payment. Eventually, I had to prove a staff member misled me with facts (notes and call recording). Only then did the staff waive my fee. Horrible experience all the way around.

I had the first month of storage free so I just assumed that this was for the first month free. Then maybe 2 weeks later, I got an invoice saying that my payment was late and I had a late fee attached now. Why would I receive an invoice with the total of $0.00 on it? Why would it not state the amount owed. From a customer's point of view, this is inaccurate and confusing. I would appreciate having an invoice that more clearly stated my costs.
