The person checking in my truck didn't do so, causing me to incur late fees. I had to spend multiple hours then getting the charge revered. Then, to add insult to injury, I received four calls over the next three days asking when I would be bringing the truck back. While the location is generally okay, particularly the assistant manager, Anthony, this was a particularly terrible experience that I would appreciate getting a free rental as compensation.

First things first, why can I book a vehicle in a location where uhaul knows that location doesn't have the vehicle? I booked a 15' van and bought plastic wrap, and then uhaul called me later saying the 15' could not be picked up at that location because it was physically too large. When I went to the new location to pick up the van, they told me I still had to go to the old location to pick up my plastic wrap, or buy a new roll here. The agent was kind enough to cancel my previous order and allow me to pick up my material at the new location. The car was dripping wet inside when I got to it. The windows were left open and it rained the night before. The car had rust on it. When I performed the initial checks, two images appeared which did not align with any parts of the car whatsoever. They seemed like parts of a storage container. The truck had very little gas, in fact it only had 20 miles so I had to immediately go to a gas station to not run out. The moving blankets and dolly were not in the vehicle, so I had to walk all the ay down the hill to the agent to inquire. They failed to tell me initially that the blankets and equipment were waiting at the bottom of the hill to be picked up. Down the line, as I was unloading the van, I noticed that several of my items were dripping wet. I then saw that in the upper storage container of the van, there were puddles of water and mushrooms growing out of the epoxy. This is unacceptable. Mushrooms shouldn't be growing out of a vehicle, especially one that people will be putting their household items in to. This can create mold and spread potentially toxic fungus. The reason I was moving out of my old place was because the building had mold. The last thing I wanted was the transportation vehicle I use to also have mold. Do you not have quality checks? Oh well, if you read this, your vehicles need a major upgrade. Your staff was kind, but that does not make up for crappy products. I am especially unhappy with the mushroom situation.

The truck was filthy. Windshield so dirty that I had to clean it. Gas was 1/8 of a tank. The staff was so slow in getting us out. they were very disorganized. No Motivation in there work.

I had trouble getting the original van I had reserved. There ended being a delay to me getting the equipment which almost jeopardized my pick up of the items I had originally rented the van for. When I received the van the tank was empty as well and required to fill some of the tank despite having a short trip planned. At drop off, there was confusion about me renting two vehicles since there was a change of the original reservation. Overall, there were many hiccups that led to a clunky and stressful experience.

Customer service was good at initial pick up (Naila was great and helpful) I had to try two trucks. First truck couldn't start, 2nd truck was boxed in. Naila was nice, the other service rep at the time wasn't that helpful and had a bad attitude. Third truck was fine but I never got the text to check the new truck in. So I never was able to verify the mileage or gas tank. And when I dropped it off, the attendant said I would see a receipt. I never received a receipt via text or email for the new charge to my Visa for $35 additional for my trip. What was the amount for? I'll never know but I feel ripped off after spending an hour trying to find a truck that worked or had space to get out. Attendant at drop off was super nice and efficient. 2 of the 3 employees I had contact with were nice.

There were several glitches on this rental. The leasing photo submission process did not work right. The mileage on the contract was off by 3 miles. The web page for correcting the mileage would not accept my uploaded photo of the instrument panel mileage on three tries. I never got the email with my contract after returning the truck. The truck was leased with a nearly empty tank, which is something Uhaul should never do. And below this Comments box it says, " If you need a response from us, please use our contact form." But if you click on the link there, you go to a complicated page that doesn't have a link that looks like "Submit a comment or complaint about a recent transaction." Oh, and the rental agent did not know the location of gas stations to the west. Hint: South Van Ness and 16th, or Mission and 15th.

The reservation / not really a reservation is a nightmare! The fact that they only advise availability 24 hrs ahead fora 1-way move makes this impossible. For us, it changed the puck- up location the day before to a location 2-hours away. The cost to change everything then added over $200.

Geno went out of his way on several occasions during my customer experience. He changed vehicles for me on the fly to make sure I received the truck in his fleet that was up to his own standards of cleanliness, and then when I lost my house keys he went above and beyond to help me try and locate them. I can tell he is a valuable asset and a great manager. For his service and attention to detail alone I would always prefer to rent from this location.

The manager, Anthony Brown, really went above and beyond in his customer service. He clearly understands that moving can be a stressful day and he does his best to take the stress away. He remembered me by first name and he was so friendly. I would recommend his facility to all my friends.

The only problem I see is the moving helpers you recommend ( A-Movers - 0 star) since it plays the big part too when it comes to moving aspects- They didn't show up! And it does affect the rating

The box arrived a few days later than planned, goods were in good shape. When the box was retrieved, the trailer hit our gate and the driver did not stop to see if it was damaged, luckily not damaged though it looks a fender on the trailer wheel broke as the driver sped away.

I was told I'd get $20 off the quoted price if I returned the truck with 1/4 tank after picking it up with only 1/8. I did return it with 1/4 tank but didn't get the discount. Filed a concern using the link on my receipt. It's now the third day after I returned the truck and still no response.

Use less spray on the floors - my feet were slipping all over because of that and it hinders safe driving. Clean the inside of the front window. Ok it was nice to have a clean truck, but the scent inside was way too strong.

A lot of the instructions were unclear. The website said photographing your ID was optional, but the location said otherwise. There was also a lot of discussion about whether an app had to be used or not. Finally, when I went to return the truck, there was no one at the return location. There is a path that's labeled as "Return Equipment Here" that I drove down until I saw a sign that said, "Wait Here With Equipment Until Agent Can Check It" which makes perfect sense. However, there was no agent there. After waiting several minutes, I locked the truck and looked around until I found an agent who told me that all I had to do was leave the truck unlocked with the keys in it. I don't know if anything I did that day was right or wrong, but no two instructions I received were the same. Whatever your processes are, please figure them out and align with your employees.

Hello, The facilities were clean, safe and overall fine. The staff however are super unfriendly and unhelpful. I had a total of three interactions with staff: 1) Initial opening of my account and the person was rude and dismissive 2) I made a reservation for a van and the person raised her voice and stated speaking to me like i was her child when I asked questions regarding the requirements. I left and went to Avis and rented a truck from them 3) After standing in line and patiently waiting my turn the person decided to take a phone call which prolonged my wait and then told me step aside and wait further while she assisted someone behind me all in a rude and dismissive tone The DMV has better service. I only drove 9 miles but put 15 dollars in the tank at the closest gas station because the needle went to below empty when getting it to a flat street. It was parked on a slight hill I am assuming. I thought I might run out before I got to the gas station. I only drive electric cars, and can show my chevron purchase a few miles away at the right time if needed. Other than that, all staff were extremely helpful and Excellent. I would recommend this location, with the tip about the gas gauge.

Train your employees better on the definition of customer service. Every person was rude and unhelpful. We arrived to 3 agents at the desk. One said "I'm closed" before we even approached the desk. The other agent said "I'm doing school work." Doing school work at work? Using work equipment to do school work while there's a line of customers? Finally, the only employee left willing to assist us, Andrea, had zero manners. Not once said please or thank you and gave us all these commands. Don't take your frustrations out on the customer just because you hate your job. Management HAS to do a better job with hiring people that actually want to work/have customer service skills. -2/10 is my overall rating.

Anthony Brown, Asst. GM was wonderful. He was so welcoming, engaging and clearly knew how to make the process easy and working well. It was just nice to be there at the desk with the friendly and smart team. I loved that I got a new van (3200 miles)! Even the drop off was easy and friendly. Your Bryan Street team is wonderful!! Thank you again. We rent several cargo vans once a year for our annual SF event. We'll be back!

You have to decrease the check in beaurocracy. It is too much. An emergency contact should be optional. At the very least, releasing the rental should not be dependent on being able to talk to the emergency contact on the phone. Requiring customers to reenter/reconfirm information that has already been provided in the reservation or in their profile is a frustrating waste of time. (i.e. cc info, add-on services, etc) It really is laborious and, honestly, highly annoying.

I got the keys to the truck, and I was blocked in. I notified the front desk and they said someone will come move it. Waiting for over 10 minutes, no one came to move it. After asking again, he was surprised and eventually told me that the keys to the van that was blocking me were lost. After a half hour of waiting, I finally got a different truck. Overall, bad experience picking up, good experience dropping off.

The individual unit was almost entirely dark. The low ceiling made it difficult to sort or shift items comfortably or safely. The desk was often understaffed and representatives on duty were consequently less than happy in their work. The atmosphere of cynicism and general mistrust of clients was pervasive. Oh, yeah, and the price was too high. Do yourselves a favor and remove me from your SPAMMING list. No emails. No phone calls. No text messages. Got it? Good. Bye!

It was definitely clean and I'm happy with the storage even though it's a long walk to the unit itself. The GM is great and is good at his job most of the employees seem great too. Security guy was also very kind and helpful. The girl behind the counter when I came to pick up my card was the only issue. She gave poor instructions and I had to return to her 3 times for assistance when she could've just gotten up and helped me the first time. Wasted mine and my movers time. Also the card system is a bit wonky, it requires multiple attempts which is fine once you know but is very disconcerting at first. Should be warned about this when receiving the card.

I helped out a close friend relocate her business inventory into this location and can't tell you how pleasant and friendly the staff was, Gino the general manager went far and beyond in helping me as I decided to get a storage unit for my business/hobby in automotive detailing and repair. He followed up with me to obtain a convenient specific unit one that would be convenient for me to come and go to pick up supplies. Very satisfied and I look forward doing business here at the Bryant street location.

I rented a small 5x7 for many years. When I would go sort through my things the blaring alarm would go off, the lights would turn off and when my credit card had an issue the manager was not considerate and removed the late fee even after many years of my patronage. The final straw was the recent rent increase, it motivated me to find an 8x10 for $92 elsewhere.

My First Day there was awful no one showed me my unit I had to find it myself. It was on the lower level. The elevators wasn't working had to use the stairs got lost in the lower level. Had to had to call for somebody to contact the U-Haul place and to let them know that I was stuck down on the lower level. It is not the place to go if you trying to store your stuff.

Staff generally very friendly but often needed to explain multiple times what I needed help with as they were answering questions that I wasn't asking. For example - I forgot where I need to enter my code to disarm the system. Which one is it as I'm entering it next to the access door and that is not correct? Was met with the response of a map to where my unit number was. This has happened a few times on different subjects. Would suggest a scale for these ratings as well since I don't love my options on helpful and friendly are only yes and no. Very friendly, very nice, often not helpful or not without much effort on my side. GM is excellent and would still recommend this facility.

When I spoke to the rep in the morning, I was promised that there would be a lock in the storage unit if I book the unit on the app. So I did, and when I got to the unit at 9pm with all my furniture and things there was no lock whatsoever. I called customer service asking to change the unit because it was too late to get a lock, however they mentioned there was nothing they could do. It was too late to buy a lock from anywhere. all in all it was not the kind of customer service I expect from a company like U-Haul. I ultimately found another customer by chance and bought a lock from them for $50. Poor experience would not recommend.

The experience I had with the person at the counter was not just unpleasant, but outright rude and disrespectful. I know how hard it is to find good staff for the coat. That said, I will not advise putting someone who has below average interpersonal communications skills in a customer facing role. The person did not have the cognitive functioning and critical thinking skills to answer simple questions and to support a smooth and friendly customer experience. They were even vindictive as when I asked for a unit near the elevator and door, they gave me a unit that was absolutely the farthest from the elevator door and up the stairs.

The one bright spot of this UHaul is the manager, Geno, who is always friendly and competent. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because of his help, but he *really* needs to get some better people around him. Every other employee I've interacted with over my 3 years of storing things here has been rude, flippant, and unhelpful. I've seen employees yelling at other customers for not understanding instructions that were obviously not presented clearly. The employee putting away vehicles in the 4th floor parking lot on the afternoon of August 2, 2023 (white guy with facial hair) was driving extremely dangerously - flooring it up the ramp and skidding out, drifting cars into spots. He came very close to hitting my partner, who was on foot. Pretty much every time I've visited, the internet has been down in the building, leading to multi-hour-long wait times to get anything done. TWICE I reserved things at this location and showed up day-of to find that they had been given to someone else, causing havoc on an already stressful moving day.

This location has a friendly and helpful staff. I would store my things here again. Felt clean and secure. The only real complaints are that my rates went up a month or 2 after moving in so it felt like a bait and switch. And the app is terrible for booking a truck. Confusing things like it saying your bill is "past due" on the actual due date. Details matter, you know?

Unit had a water leak in ceiling, probably from sprinkler head, and items were seriously damaged- mold. Was told I have to make a claim on my homeowner's insurance. Not OK. Gino & Jasmine staff are great, though. Hours end too early on Sundays, the dollies/carts must be returned to office by 5 PM.

It was a good experience, Gene was a great Manager, the cleaning crew very friendly, but the other people at the front always, always mad, I don't know, they're just weird. Like they're not happy with their job or their own life, a very bad energy, one of them (a chubby, kind of latina or something like that, black hair), even told me once: "if you bla bla bla I will kick you the fu?k out of here!!" Yes, she was mean, and ugly, I would be mad if I was ugly too, but is not my fault. And on top of that, the day laborers outside always watching anytime I came over to my unit, like pervs, staring through the window.

Had a snafu with original unit. Young woman helping me and Gene, the king of composure and competence, rectified the situation during a crazy busy last day of the month. Someone was screaming at Gene as a result of their wrongdoing. Not sure how many people would have resisted the urge to beat that fool. Gene did and rebounded to right all the wrongs at the front desk.

It was an extremely frustrating experience and took much longer than it needed to, to find a storage unit. For some reason the staff was reluctant to show me available units. So would only show me one at a time. Then I had to come back up and wait for the staff to be available to talk to me (it was a busy day) and then discuss another option. I don't know why they wouldn't just show me a few all at once. I also don't know if I got the best unit for me, as they seemed reluctant to tell me what was available- so I don't know if there were more available that I didn't see.

The building is a confusing maze and honestly is pretty impractical for larger moves. Moving out with a trailer instead of a truck meant having to take the carts to an elevator (which was often in use, adding extra tedium), downstairs, and out to the loading dock. The biggest issue I have is that when I originally reserved, it was for a smaller unit, not up any stairs, and $89/month. When I arrived with my U-Haul truck full of belongings, I was told that there was a glitch in the system and the unit I'd reserved was not available. I had already moved, so I had no other choice but to take a larger space, up a set of stairs, for $209/mo, which was outside of my budget and which I struggled to pay. The person who checked me in that day did not care about the bait-and-switch, but service is generally good here. Shout-out to Gino who is especially helpful and awesome! Total pro.

Most employees were friendly and helpful. Some had an attitude. Wasn't that big of a deal, but I noticed it. For instance the day I moved my things out of storage, I went to the counter to let them know and close my account. They did not inform me to make sure I return to the office so that they can do a walk through and make sure the unit is empty and clean. Or if they did, it was not clear to me because of their attitude. What happened was I packed up the truck, removed the truck and then drive out of their, thinking I had already informed them of my leave and was good to go. When I received an email stating I'm late on my storage payment, I was confused. Uhaul also notified my employer who I put down as an emergency contact, so that was embarrassing because he asked me what's going on with Uhaul. I got on the phone to take care of it, expecting some more attitude and hassle. The woman who ultimately closed my account was surprisingly very helpful and courteous, reducing my fee to half which that was above and beyond my expectations and I absolutely appreciate that.

Excellent service à la clientèle. Gene has always been a very professional and smart manager, he knows how to treat customers the right way, like managers are supposed to. The cleaning staff are aways working hard to keep this place clean, and i've seen through all these years how dirty some customers can be, but they make this place look like brand new, everyday. I've been a customer from this location for years, and i can not complain about anything at all, zero, nothing. The front desk always helpful and friendly, i personally believe this is the best location in town.

There was a crowd of bystanders standing out front of the Uhaul location that I went to.Men who looked capable of moving my furniture but I felt they were too aggressive. They followed me into the store and looked over my shoulder into my purse. I got nothing that I paid for. After my key disappeared I abandoned my goals of moving into storage. I was approached by a gentleman claiming to be a locksmith who also asked me to go to the bank. The moving helpers that I hired ($205) were inadequate looking and I felt scammed. The area is hot and difficult to load and unload packages. There are only two places to park with no ramp only stairs. It was very difficult to move in. The access door doesn't work properly I have to swipe my card at least 3 times before the door opens. The staff wasn't very friendly either. My storage door kept sending off the alarm and I told the clerk and he said that was normal but it's not! It was very embarrassing and scary! Other than that the location, prices and storage availability are very good.

The U-Haul storage facility on Bryant St. in SF was a huge upgrade from from my prior storage rental in SF The U-HAUL's facility's common areas were well lit; well maintained ;and kept very clean. I was also paying a lower rate - so a much better value. My prior storage facility allowed vagrants and people loitering at or near the facility - so there were safety issues in addition to fumes and dirt. I personally recommended U-HAUL storage to a number of people needing storage in San Francisco.

Because I was late with my payment, I received a text from another client from UHaul asking me was I late and could I get down to the storage to pay my bill that they was charging her late fees for my unit and was going to kick us both out, I asked her what do my bill have to do with you, and what kind of people are we dealing with, I still have the text in my phone, my business was not hers, but I understand places only care about money and not people, things happen they had just changed my pay time and I was about to set up for auto pay , good luck.

I had this unit for more than 8 years, and everytime I've needed help with anything, the staff here have been a delight to work with. Starting with helping me coordinate the shipment of the pods, renting a truck and renting the storage unit, to any subsequent time that I needed a truck or van to shuffle my things around, every transaction was easy and everyone was always friendly. The building and the unit were easy to access and felt secure, and a truck was available each time I needed to rent one. I've been so impressed, and I'm very happy with my experience. Keep up the good work!

- van return process not intuitive: the drop-off instructions require access to the van, but they are displayed in the key box. I only saw the instructions after returning the key - elevators are unintuitive and a major bottleneck - it takes a long time to access the storage unit: there should be shorter routes - there should be more dollies and carts available for dropoff use. I was not able to get one on my first dropoff trip

Only because the storage where I need to store items due to a sudden move had used mats covered in rat fece's! Rat fece's we're everywhere I had to request a broom and dust pan and clean the entire area soooooo disgusting! I have clothes that I had hang on a rolling rack my concern is the rats don't get to the items also I working to make sure that I can relocate sooner then later it was a hazardous nasty mess Uhaul should have a scheduled exterminator with all the money Uhaul makes

There is no light inside the unit which led to my partner being seriously injured when he slipped on a rat trap inside the unit when we were moving in. The staff was not helpful during that time and refused to extend our truck rental time even though we spent 2 hours in the emergency room before we could use the truck. Since then, however, the staff has been kind. The manager is very friendly and flexible. Although the facility is a little cumbersome to navigate, I was happy with the late hours of operation. Because every other encounter was excellent, I gave the excellent rating despite the harrowing events earlier in the year.

I was a bit flummoxed about actual size of spaces and the corresponding costs. was unable to look at an actual space for rent until signed and paid for. i think perhaps the space is on the more expensive end of the list for that size. However, quite fortunately, it also is very easy to access from the loading dock to the space. I guess i am getting what i am paying for even though i didnt (know to) ask for it.

Key cards never work consistently. It took me two hours with card reader problems to simply move 1 box into my storage unit. I had to go back to the office 4 times to get my card checked. This was a 10 min task that took way too long and was super inconvenient to keep walking back to the office to understand why card won't work in reader. can't we go back to codes?

Service staff was condescending and unhelpful. They seemed more concerned about theft prevention than provide us excellent customer service. We were upgrading our unit and the unit size we reserved online wasn't available in reality. No apologies, no empathy, nothing. Your current process made it VERY difficult to transition to a larger unit. We ended up with a smaller size unit and did our best to make it fit our needs. You have us trapped as customers because you know it's not easy for us to move our business elsewhere. The alarms in the building are at an ear damaging decibel and go off regularly. They are unbelievably loud. You should swap out the yellow buttons used to keep carts in their home location. Twice while moving our storage contents we clipped a yellow button and sent our valuables tumbling to the ground. The location is a huge maze and the staff didn't do anything to help show us the easiest route from our old to new storage unit. Half way through our several hour move we identified a closer freight elevator and a much short route between our two points. It would have been nice for the staff to have provided that guidance and improved our experience. The pass card to access the building (which we have been using for years) denied us access into the storage floor and when I took it to the customer representative to find out why she told me our card wasn't assigned to our unit and then proceeded to argue with me when I shared we've only had the one unit will ever at this U-haul location. She we a larger woman and very unpleasant to deal with. I tried to engage with her and be friendly and got nothing from her. Same with the gentleman who helped me. The sign about the large, recent investment in carts above the cart station on level two is tacky and should be taken down. Ensuring there are operational carts and moving tools is a cost of doing business. There were messages all over the building of what we can/can't do and some with associates charges for braking any rule. It didn't add to our experience in a positive way. The only positive point in our experience was a cleaning lady on the fourth floor who could see we were lost, stopped her work and proactively helped us. You need more people like her on staff. Our visit was on 10/22 from about 11 am - 3 pm.

Friendly helpful staff, clean building but that elevator scared the crap out of me every time I had to use it, Why not unlock the stairs from all floors but the worst was the bait and switch, I reserved a unit that was to be $84 plus $7 insurance, got to the store and was told they did no have that unit any more would I like this other unit for $96 a month and $7 insurance, why reserve a unit if they just give it away. I only used the unit two months as $113 for that small unit was just to much.

Dollies all stolen at one point, making it impossible to move belongings through the maze of units. Parking near units impossible. Rat poo in both units (I have given up one unit, but still share another unit with a friend for the time being.) Homeless people clearly living out of some units and camping out in the hallways. Staff generally friendly and professional though. I sympathize that their job is difficult under the conditions at this site.

Your staff was courteous and I felt back for the gal checking us in. We had a bait and switch pulled on us which was quite disconcerting. Not her fault. But I was told on the phone twice that I had reserved a 12 x 7 x 8 on the first floor and arrived to find it wasn't available. I ended up having to get a 2nd space because we couldn't lift the sofabed and some other heavy boxes up the stairs. I was quite disappointed and will now have to call daily to see if another opens up so I can have just one space and on a floor without steps. Will also have to hire movers to move everything once a space becomes available.

When I went to check-in, I was told the unit I reserved online was not available and that the system is known to have this issue of incorrectly letting customers reserve a unit that is not actually free. Luckily, another similar unit was available, but this could have been a significant concern if there was not another unit available. This should be fixed. Happy with the accessibility and cleanliness of the location. Providing carts and a free section to leave lightly used items was convenient. No lighting in my unit which made it hard to see in there from just the hallway lighting. But generally a good experience.

I am so disappointed with this storage place. I called multiple times to ask questions almost a week before my move-in date in order to get some clarification, and no one had any idea how to answer my questions. I was told conflicting things by different people. The website wouldn't let me check-in for a unit and get my one month free from renting a truck. Of course the storage people said there's nothing they can do, so we called 1-800-go-uhaul. The lady did it with us on the phone, and there was still no way to get the free month. She told us to reserve a new unit, pay for it, and present the receipt + truck confirmation at the location for a refund. Of course, the storage people later said they couldn't give me a refund and that I was told ''wrongful information.'' Unbelievable. In addition, because I had to make a new reservation in order to check-in online, I ended up getting a unit that was on top of another one. It took OVER 3 HOURS to take big pieces of furniture up those metal stairs, and my back was destroyed by the end of it. I had specified in the original reservation that I wanted one on the bottom. The map was also useless and it took us over 30mins to even locate the storage unit in the first place. The location is in a terrible area and we had people try to take our stuff, as well as tailgate into the facility after we unlocked the door. I am extremely angry and disappointed, and would not recommend this place to anyone. I can't wait to get my stuff out of there.

My units door was ajar and the locking mechanism appeared to have been bent to the point the door was coming off the track- but the manager is going to fix it — i found then extremely helpful because I was moving and my car was over weight so I was easily able to unload the excess weight and make my deadlines to get back on the road safely - I’m very grateful for their courteous help STAFF IS EXCELLENT

The lack of understanding of the IT systems is ridiculous. We were coming from out of town and were going to arrive after hours and was told that we could not do online check in of our existing reservation, that we either had to check in in person or cancel our reservation and select a "rent now" unit. After 2 hours of frantically trying to rent another unit that the manager said was going to be available, we saw in the footnotes that you CAN check in online. All that stress for nothing. Once we got there after hours, it was very unclear the process for which to access the building using the arm/disarm and unlock gate. Luckily Gene picked up the phone to help us get in, otherwise we would've been screwed. Please train your staff on the self serve IT capabilities and make it clearer how to use the code to check in.

My reservation mentioned a price of $84,95 for a 10' x 7' x 4' Locker but was told when I checked in that the cost was actually $114.95. I showed the email confirmation showing the size and price I was expected to get but it was not honored even with that proof. I had to get a smaller unit to be able to stay within my budget. My concern is what's the point to make a reservation if you don't get the price you expect to pay. The manager was able to give me the last month free for the inconvenience but I'm still disappointed that my reservation was not honored.

The main bad part was that the uhaul mobile smartphone experience doesn't work. I tried to set up auto pay multiple times and it wouldn't let me so I had to pay each month manually. Also, when I got the moving van to check my stuff out, the mobile login didn't say I you were going to call the secondary contact right then and there, so that was annoying as I didn't have someone at that exact moment ready. Otherwise everything else was good as far as physical experience.

The service I received in person was always great. Well-staffed and waiting times low. Everyone very patient, friendly and helpful. The facility felt very secure. Card replacement when I lost it was a breeze, when I expected it to be a lot more complicated. My only complaint is that over the years everything in my unit began to smell like mouse or rat pee. You can barely wash that scent off from plastics try as you may. Ugh. Oh well, probably comes with the territory.

I was looking for a storage unit for several weeks. The website does not make clear what is available- the "Reserve" feature lets you reserve units that aren't available. The storage manager advised me to call in and speak to her to check what was available but whenever I called nobody would let me speak to her she is always "unavailable". Everyone that works here seems miserable, they sigh and roll their eyes when you try and ask for help. It wasn't clear that my lock would be in the locker I waited in line for nothing. By signing up online I couldn't add a storage unit to my existing contract, I now have two separate contracts. The moving carts they used to have at this location are gone, they claim they are available at the front desk but when you go and ask they say there are none.

I called ahead while I was on my way to the facility to get started with whatever info would be needed to check in efficiently. I asked where to park to unload things and the staff member on the phone said to park in the loading dock. I told him that my movers were going to park there and start unloading the van. He said okay and told me he couldn't take any of my info regarding emergency contact/additional contacts over the phone. When I arrived, I had to wait in line for 45 minutes because there was only one employee. My movers unloaded the entire truck in the van. Then I was told my unit would be on the 4th floor so they had to drive up to the 4th floor and unload up there. I couldn't find it and asked for help because the map was very unclear. No one helped me initially. I had to go find someone else and they couldn't find my unit. When i found it, it had someone's name written on it so it was unclear if it was mine. Then my key card didn't work so I almost got locked in the elevator. The unit I had was the dimensions described but the 10 feet goes to the ceiling instead of wide, so it was not helpful at all and I couldn't fit enough in it because no one can stack things 10 feet safely. I ended up having to pay my moved for an extra 1,5 hours due to the lack of service and the employee telling me it was okay for the movers to unload things on the first floor, only to tell us it needed to be reloaded and unloaded again on the 4th floor. I wasted so much money and I'm VERY upset. There was no manager available to assist with my issue. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

Annoying layout, my locker was far in the back and took forever to move the stuff Why are there no luggage carts to make moving multiple boxes fast?? Sliding doors close so fast it makes it hard to bring stuff in, annoying to swipe constantly. Had to put down and pick up extra as a result moveable stairs are really steep and opening at top is too narrow, more narrow than the opening of my locker Random slope in the floor at one point made my car run into the wall

The dock was tricky on the day I moved out although it was fine on the move-in. The gate quickly shut between the time I pressed the "open" button and had hopped into the truck ready to back it up. I had to ask one of the employees to stand by. I saw this happen to another customer.

The storage facility was great for money. The staff was kind and helpful with what was in their control. Cons There were no carts available to move our stuff because the staff said it was stolen. We had to carry several heavy boxes to the car. They need to put sensors on the carts. There were a bunch of rat droppings in the unit. Pretty gross.

They failed to have the Unit size I had expected to rent, so required to rent an additional unit at another company across town, thus I incurred additional expense and GREAT inconvenience. I did not appreciate being lied to an/or mislead as I did call to confirm several days ahead. As a result I could not say it was a stellar experience. On such sort notice (upon arriving at the facility) I was pretty much at the mercy of the situation. Last time I will EVER use your storage company. Bait and switch is totally unacceptable under any circumstances period! As for your STUPID policy of not being able to update and/or correct comments, is even more reason to give an unsatisfactory review!

At this particular location it would be helpful if an instructional handout was given that gave step by step instructions about accessing the facility. In particular, it would be helpful to know that the elevator Close Door button must be held until the door fully closes, then you must swipe your card and then hit your floor button. Other than that this facility was far easier to access than I could have hoped for.

The 1 freight elevator available to me on the 3rd floor broke down. An employee came and found me after I called the office to notify them the elevator wasn't working. It was only at that time they told me the elevator was in fact broken. A u-haul employee quickly came to find me. He was great - explained and showed me what to do next. I ended up having to carry all my stuff up to the 4th floor to exit the building. There is no access out with you things off the 3rd floor. I was told the elevator could be out of use for hours and they notified the "offsite" technician. Fast forward an hour or two I learn on my own that the elevator had been repaired. But no one told me and they knew Of my situation. Turns out I spent 90 minutes lugging mattresses, furniture and boxes one by one upstairs when I could use the elevator. Not ok.

I would never recommend this location to anyone. The staff were rude and unhelpful. When I first rented my unit, the staff member who recommended my size was completely off which required me to last minute rent an extra storage unit, raising my cost far above competitors. Management was impossible to get in touch with and was so unprofessional in their communication that a Uhaul representative was concerned. The representative sent notices for management to return my calls and they never did. My move out was disorganized and never logged in the system, requiring my hired movers to stay late and charge me extra. All of these issues were attempted to be resolved before leaving this feedback. A horrible experience from beginning to end.

There's only one elevator so try not to move stuff in on weekends. It took far longer than it should and cost me to return my van rental because the slowness of the elevator took hours from. Highly disappointed with UHaul Storage at 1525 Bryant st. San Francisco. We made the reservation for 5x10x8 storage one month prior the date. But when we came with the loaded truck we have been told that the size is not available and UHaul Storage can give us bigger storage for bigger price. We accepted the bigger size and asked to honor the price of the reservation. But we were told that they can't do it and that we are not reasonable by asking such things. ?!!! We called the corporate Uhaul customer support and they were absolutely useless because they have no decision making power. Since we were put on the spot we had no options to choose other alternatives, so we accepted the bigger storage with bigger price after an hour of argument with the manager Gene Carr III. It is crucial to fulfill the reservation, because moving process is very stressful. The reservation means that Uhaul gives us a Promise that when we come we get it for 100 % in the way it was promised. Uhaul broke the promise and the value of the brand. I am asking to fix your reservation system. If for some uncontrolled reason Uhaul can't fulfill the promise, then Uhaul has to notify the client immediately, so the client would get a chance to look for he alternatives. The Uhaul customer service representative told us that the price of the reservation can be honored. Please adjust the price according to our reservation.

This place is a joke and I will recommend friends to always look elsewhere. Move out experience was as traumatic as moving in. My couch is ruined because a rodent clearly are through it. Car was broken into and front desk lady couldn't have cared less. Manager was kind enough to help police with videos so appreciative of that but will not ever come back to a Uhaul after the horrible move in experience 3 months ago and frustrating experience moving out. Will expect full insurance on my couch.

Eight years with this place and it was filled with caps locked filled emails threatening to gouge me out of more money for being late on rent but all along I always paid the same day. The 22nd. They refused to take note of that. Ever. No matter how many emails or phone calls, same pointed emails *ALL LIKE THIS* as if they were yelling at me. The when you sign up for autopay they take it out whenever they want. No set date. Then the pandemic. Struggling to make ends meet and hit with yet another email and price gouge. Good riddance U-Haul. And good luck. Never again.

Although the facilities were overall very clean, as I noted to the staff, there was rust residue from a large leak that came in from the back of my unit. I imagine either from an adjoining unit or rain from the roof, possibly. If any toxic or harmful materials are found to have been present, please let me know. I am still inspecting my stored items for damage, but have not as yet found anything.

Possibly a worse experience than getting my license at a DMV - and that's saying ALOT! Here's a thought - allow for the emergency contacts to be completed BEFORE you arrive because it will take another 1 hour just to fill in 3 data points at the store. I provided the emergency contact and number up to 15 times before i was allowed to proceed. Staff was terrible. Terrible experience.

The light timers were irritating. A couple of times when I needed to be there a little longer, the lights kept going off. I needed to go down the ladder to re-activate with my "motion" to re-light. I wish there was a manual over-ride... Maybe an automatic lighting when I check in... Other than that, it was the best storage in my exp'ce. Merci.

Efficient and friendly staff. Convenient location. Only wish i didnt have to open a new contract and verify contacts each time i rent a truck or a new storage space. A membership or loyalty package based on points would be awesome!! Points earn you perks, benefits, discounts etc. Incl van rental, pod storage, free boxes, credit towards hiring labor etc. App needs work. Logs me out each time i start a new task or reservation. What a Pain! Need to expand loading dock. Improve exit path for trucks and cars. Maybe an outdoor kiosk where you can reserve your ubox etc. Thanks!!!

Great experience, except that the locker I reserved online wasn't available due to a "system error". Luckily another locker was available, but at a higher rate. Staff was very helpful!

I received some of the worst customer support and service that I've ever experienced as a consumer. I reached out to gene carr a countless amount of times to address issues and he never stepped up to the plate. Horrible service and experience which all started with the bait and switch pricing on day 1. Who do you have running this place?

I booked this storage unit a month in advance & when I got there heard that the units were overbooked & I got the last one in the place. Online this unit was listed as a unit for a one bedroom place & it was a glorified closet. I got one of the units that was not even full size & it had mouse traps in it & a pipe straight through the middle. There were no other units so it was either I get that one or I leave my stuff on the street. I was able to fit half of what I anticipated. Nowhere near the size for a one bedroom place. Definitely did not get what I paid for.

Uhaul is my go to company for all my moving needs and the servive I receive is always top-notch. The 15th street storage facility is so convenient, across from post office and easy parking. Gene was especially helpful, always available, and always made me feel welcome. All staff were diligent in following all COVID precautions and mandates. I only needed short term storage and it was so easy to cancel. Thank you for great customer service and experience. I highly recommend Uhaul and the storage facility at 15th street.

When I first moved it was was one of the worse experiences I have ever had dealing with a business . The manager was a liar and could never be found . Gene , I believe is the name of the new manager . He and his staff are great they manage a lot of chaos in a perfessional and courteous manner . Truly a great place now !

The whole move in process was super confusing and crowded. I needed to put the truck in the same line as car returns and then back it into a space causing all kinds of confusion. Then I couldn't get it out of there for 30 mins after I was done due to a giant return line. The arrow says to go one direction but I had to reverse out where the line was. My unit also has a giant structural support inside it taking up a huge amount of space - I don't know if the second load of stuff I take there will even fit inside!!

My only complaint so far is that when I pulled into the equipment return bay to park, I was approached by a man in work clothes whom stated that he would park my truck for me and asked if I would need help unloading my truck. I assumed that he worked for Uhaul and agreed to his help, assuming that if he worked for Uhaul, I could add any charges for his help to my bill. I had assumed that if he did not work for Uhaul, that they would not have allowed for him to be on their property soliciting me. Even the manager knew he was there as he followed us on my tour and moved my truck to the garage area. The manager did not say a word. Mid way through unloading my truck, the man asked me how much I would be willing to pay him in cash for his help. I was shocked to find out that he did not work for Uhaul and was upset that he required cash payment since I did not have much cash on me. The man was super nice and helpful, but I felt very deceived and upset that the company allowed this to happen on their property right under their noses with no warning to me.

I reserved space online several weeks in advance. Upon arrival to confirm my space I was told "there was a glitch in the system, that space is not available anymore, we have a smaller unit for you and that's the best we can do." I'm glad I came to confirm my reservation two days before moving my stuff into it....otherwise all of my belongings would have been stuck overnight in a Uhaul truck on the streets of San Francisco. Needless to say, my things wouldn't fit in the smaller unit, therefore I had no other choice but to take my business elsewhere. I've moved several times in the last 3 years, and every move I used Uhaul. This is the last time I will ever conduct business with your company. I have made it a point to tell this to post my experience on social media as well as leave you a horrible review on Google and Yelp. Good luck with your business model of price gouging and not honoring your reservations.

I went in with a reservation, and was told they don't honor those and there are no available units. Luckily, they did have one, and increases the price over the price from my online reservation. I was told to sign without giving any details about the unit, "does it matter? it's the only one available." I wasn't even told the price until I asked for a breakdown of the total. I wasn't given a chance to review the contract, which was very unfavorable (2 visits per day, 30 min max per visit, etc.). Wasn't given any instructions for locating, or accessing unit.

This was honestly the most positive customer service I have EVER received!! I was taken care of from the second I stepped foot into 1575 Bryant St to the moment I closed my storage unit! The manager was the most accommodating considering I had just moved cross country and another location did not have a storage unit for me! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You guys were the best of the best! I highly recommend using this location's services!

I got there at 1:30 PM to get the storage unit and truck I reserved online the night before. When i got there was told the unit I reserved was unavailable and they attempted to charge me more money for a significantly smaller unit. When I mentioned the $50 reservation gaurantee, they started texted for a while and eventually I was told the original one actually was available. Then was abotu an hours-worth of going to the unit and finding it already had a lock, going back to tell them, being asked to go take a picture, coming back and then being told they gave me the wrong unit number, then going back, finidng another lock, going back to the front desk an telling them, waiting for someone to come with a key: the key didnt work. had to go back to the front desk, they got all these other keys... none of them worked and they said they had to cut the key. This basically took 3 hours from start to finish, not including trying to get the truck I reserved (which was similarly a disorganized chaotic nightmare). I ended up barely making the van back to the storage unit before the access would cut off. While I was in there loading it, the window of my car was smashed... lots of people hanging around out outside looking for stuff to steal I guess. I left my phone in the unit and was locked out,still dont have my phone... there is no mechanism in place to help with these legit issues. Also, requested a van and got a truck which charges double the mileage, and ordered a dolly and didnt get one (but surprise, got charged for it)

I rented a UHaul van and storage unit to store my belongings for a temporary move out of SF. This was the craziest moving experience of my life. I reserved the storage unit a month ahead of time, but wasn't able to move in the first day of my reservation. I figured I would start being charged on the start date and could move in whenever, but I showed up a week later to pick up my van (the day before my flight out of SF), I was told that my storage reservation had been cancelled **without notifying me** and there were no other large units available. HOLY ****!!! What kind of insane corporate policy is that?! Luckily an AWESOME employee, Gino, worked with me for hours to find an abandoned unit and clean it out so I could use it. If he hadn't been so helpful, I would have had to abandon half of my belongings in a dumpster. As is, the delay meant I had to make my last storage drop-off after the office closed. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy in the daytime, but at night, it's downright dangerous. For context, I'm a large guy, so not usually concerned for my safety in the city. But there were at least five people siphoning gas from trucks left on the street, and multiple others that started circling me as soon as I parked. I decided to leave and come back in the morning for fear of my things being stolen. Thankfully, Gino helped me extend my truck reservation to the next morning and I was able to move the rest of my things early before my flight. The higher-ups at UHaul need to rethink their reservation processes and invest in better security for this location. Gino deserves a serious raise/promotion!

Gene Carr (Manager) went above and beyond. Friendly, effective, knowledgable. Kept his cool with long lines. Website, app and hotline could not book your unit for several days => he handled this perfectly, seems to love his job and is SUPER passionate with a customer-first mindset. We actually wanted to cancel and move to Public Storage. Staying only because of Gene Carr! Thank you!

The staff was very unfriendly and rude. I was told I could check out of my storage unit online (because it was close to closing time and I guess the girl at the front desk didn't want to stay longer than she needed to). A week after I checked out from my unit online, I noticed my request still wasn't approved. I called to see if someone could help me and explained my situation to the woman who answered. She was immediately unpleasant to deal with over the phone, after I explained my situation, she responded with "that's not how things work around here" as if I work there. Will not be returning/using this facility in the future.

The storage unit itself was fine. The initial on-boarding experience was a complete mess. The online portal to reserve unit is not actually reflective of what is available. The hours to access the unit are really limited as well, especially on the weekends.

Came in at 4:45pm to the Bryant location to deposit my items to the storage unit I purchased earlier in the day. My unit was still locked with a note that indicated that UHAUL had forgotten to unlock it for my use after I had secured the box. No attendants around to help also because location closed at 5pm. UHAUL online/ phone customer service unhelpful. Had to reload my UHAUL truck with my items and drive back home, wasting a day as well as fees for moving.

Although the facility was quite accommodating to service my storage needs. I found that the actual door sizes to all units were quite small which made it to very difficult to store a couch , love seat, and king size bed thru the smaller doors.

Cuando yo ya había hecho la reservación por teléfono y pensé que sería más fácil pero no, después me fui por mis cosas y al llegar de nuevo la persona que me atendió fue muy grosera y casi ni nos volteaba a ver a la cara, y nos atendió de mala gana y todavía se tardo para atenderme!!! De verdad tengo una muy mala experiencia con ustedes, y tampoco encontré un storage del tamaño que yo quería, solo tomé ese por urgencia pero si no hubiera tenido urgencia de verdad no rentó nada.

This is not the best storage facility in the bay and I cannot recommend it. The day I ordered my storage unit was a complete mess, the lady helping me was so kind but didn't have the unit prepped, or my car rental ready. I spent over an hour waiting for each. I called once and the manager kept me on the line for 10 minutes then got really snippy with me about my form of payment, refusing to run my card again. Eventually he ran it again and it was fine. The day I turned my unit in was fine and easy, the lady at the counter was kind and didn't bug me for anything. I will never return to use this u-haul rental bc of the way the male manager treated me over the phone.

Started off good, but when our storage key, which we bought at the uhaul office, broke (key snapped into half) at the time of the first use of the storage, staff at the office did not offer anything helpful. They told us the technician left for the day (3pm) therefore only way to get it fixed is we call locksmith and pay for $175 by ourselves. We are not satisfied of this solution as the key is bought brand new at the uhaul office and the door was poorly aligned to begin with. Also, we had to pay $175 for locksmith out of our pocket just because technician was not around even during the office hour is extremely frustrating. We do not understand why we had to cover the cost for all of this when it was due to poorly maintained door on our storage unit. If such misalignment is typical, or hours of onsite technicians is limited, the staff needs to inform new customers like us in advance.

The office person, she was great. but on the dock the guy told me to take the car hauler to another location, when the contract said to drop it there. He went on to say he did not have room. It is not my job to balance inventory. He carried on about how I needed to work with him. If I did not negotiate with him it was disrespectful. I had an attitude? It was rude and equal to the pickup when they told me even though I had paid reservations, the trailer was not ok and I needed to take an uber to another location to get my rental. Just the worst. When you read the bad reviews, times it by 100. Just awful.

My storage space had been infested by mice and there was a ton of mouse poo, pee, and damage. Also one of the lights was motion activated and kept going out. I hated the labyrinth I had to go through to get to my spot and the alarm going off constantly. The staff however were friendly and helpful.

I wouldn't recommend it bc (1) my unit got broken into & (2) it's in a really bad area. Lots of homeless and drug addicts around. I don't feel safe there. Staff handled the break-in well.
