Jeanette OWhile the service was fine (I had no reason to go to the storage facility), your communication skills and website navigation is horrible. Impossible to find account information for U-box (only for storage rental), completed everything online and STILL had these URGENT messages to call back to discuss with customer service the exact same things I had on the website form. There was simply no communication between staff and website. This part (communication) should be as simple and straightforward as the entire ordering process.
Sean DI was able to meet my goal but I had to go through lot of PAIN. First area of improvement is please keep your truck full of gas and do not put customer on spot to report and maintain the gas level. Customer like me are not truck expert. If truck is provided with full gas tank then it is easy for customer to return it full. When I picked truck the gas was marked as 3/8 on the paper but just driving after 5 miles the truck stopped in the middle of road. I had to ask for road side assistance. I was stranded on the road blocking the lane until middle for more than 1 hour before the help came. Help identified that there is no gas and they filled the gas and truck worked again. Immediately after I filled the truck with additional 5 gallons of gas. Clearly there is a huge gap in the 3/8 marked for the tank versus actual gas in the tank. Fortunately I have taken photo of the odomoter at the time of pickup which clearly shows gas is empty. And I also have taken photo of the odometer at the time of return which clearly shows that gas is much more than when it was at the pickup. I did explained my pain to the person at the time of return. And I was expecting that u-hual will compensate me for my pain and waste of time by not charging at all. In fact the final bill I received in email include all the charges plus additional service fee of $30 and another additional $39 for 6 GL for the gas. I AM REALLY SURPRISED and feel horrible. I am hoping that u-hual will resolve the issue for me and compensate for my pain. I was expecting to have my work done in 3-4 hours but it actually took me ~7hrs until I return the truck. Waiting for more than 1hr in the middle of lane is scary and made me very anxious until the help arrived. Only silver lining in this ordeal was that the person who came for help from Infinity Automotive Services Lkc was super helpful and super nice. He gave me the courage and confidence that I am in good hands.

Richard ZWe had a break in and theft occur with this trailer. It was already fairly beat up but they stole a wheel and all the lug nuts as well as around $8000 in property. I'm still waiting for the insurance people to get back to me I've reached out more than once actually called three times to find out what is going to happen from here but the location and it's employees on Laurelwood are absolutely amazing I've been coming there for years and have never had a bad experience with anybody you guys did an amazing job hiring at that location. So kudos all that stuff and I just wanted to say thank you because they are very kind and patient so good job . Scott E Hasbrook

Matthew HAlignment was off. Truck was mostly clean. When I returned the truck I spent onver an hour with the app having issues. Very frustrating.

Cathy BTrain your staff a lot better. The price I was quoted didn't come anywhere close to what I had to pay. Also I was told several times the price I was quoted was for a one day rental. I was called 4 hours after I picked up the rental and was asked to bring it back . It was only a 4 hour rental. I would have never agreed to a 4 hour rental for that price I was quoted. Also I was never told about all the extra charges that was yacked on . My $74 rental came out to $178 . Very upset never have I ever had any problems like this on my prior rentals from U haul.. I was also told I could drop it off in my town I just had to call and make changes if I needed to.. when I tried to do that I was told I had to bring it back to there location so I had to pay the miles just to return it.

This facility has top notch security for each storage unit. plus security cameras thought out the entire building. With large monitors in the office.that scans the building and a monitor that shows when you check-in and disarm the unit. and check-out and arms the unit. as well as shows when you open and close your unit along with a time stamp. it will show when the unit as a alarm. There is always staff on hand. I notes that there are intercoms though out the building to call the front desk. I am very impressed this facility. the cost is good. There are restroom located with in the storage unit areas. scent's it is a U-haul facility/ location that means you can rent moving trucks and trailers there.

Kenneth E | Expérience généraleUnlike the previous 6x12 trailers we have rented, this one had a very poor selection of tiedown anchors. After hours drop off of the trailer was a challenge. We struggled for 45 minutes to get it unhitched. The instructions and videos in the UHaul app were no help. After that was complete we were unable to complete billing/return in the app, which was down at the time. The location was great, but the trailer was not and the instructions in the app were terrible.

It gave me range anxiety since I barely made it across town in the time crunch that I had to deliver and then find a gas station. Since I told the agent how far I was going in town I would hope that I would be given a truck with a little more fuel. This experience makes me hesitant to use U-haul in the future.
Simon LI was using Public storage for years and this was my first experience with U-haul Storage. I have to say it was far superior in every way. The cleanliness is unparalleled. You could eat off the floors! Even though my space was on the second floor and required elevator access, it was still easy to do with the carts which were always available, easy to find and not all banged up. I was really impressed with this storage facility and would definitely use U-Haul again for all of my moving needs. I would suggest pro-rating and offering a refund or a credit towards another U-Haul product if you move out in the middle of the month and paid for a full month. BreAnna is amazing, she really cares about the customer and understands how stressful moving is and goes way above and beyond to make our experience as pleasant as possible.

BARRY SI wanted to return the locker as it is no longer useful for me, but it could be useful for the next person renting the Uhaul storage. Please see if you can have a locker take-back program for a nominal amount or full refund to save resources and prevent wastage of lockers.

I was getting my trailer at the Sunnyvale location and discovered there was no electrical attached to my tow hitch. The part Peter needed was up at Fremont even though we were told there wasn't one. Jonathan researched it and found it so I drove up there and got it. Peter stayed late after to put this on for me so I could move tomorrow. BriAnna offered me some moving help for tomorrow so I could move as scheduled. I do not have adequate words to express my appreciation for how these two locations went above and beyond to help me through a very stressful and challenging time. 10 stars and a deep thank you!!!
Connie NI rented a two-axle four-tire vehicle transport trailer. The front passenger side tire was more worn than the others. We had a blowout traveling down a busy 4-lane interstate during rush hour. It completely set us back a half day in our journey. Otherwise, things went well. The equipment functioned normally as expected. The U-haul employees I interacted with were friendly and fast.

I operate 3 childcare centers in sunnyvale- and we do many trips to the dump, moving furniture, picking up new equipment etc..... never had a single problem. Quick- trucks that work well- no mechanical issues ever..... easy return just pull in and leave truck- they send you a receipt thru email. Easy Peasy!

Bare plywood often comes slightly moldy from manufacturing so it is not the fault of UHAUL and would be fine for anyone who is not highly sensitive. Two days later there's a charge for the storage unit. I called the store and got put through to general customer service. They said my unit still showed occupied. They also called the store directly and the manager. No answer and no one ever followed up with me. Unit was only canceled because I disputed the charges with my bank. They were going to just keep charging me for an empty unit.

The negative, the incessant alarms sounds when opening the unit even after I repeatedly confirmed with staff that I disarmed the unit correctly before opening. I was told it was a facility issue but it was annoying when it would not turn off quickly. Also, I had some issues with after hours access card swipe machine but eventually got in after swiping a few times.

While the clerk was pleasant, courteous, and eager to show us available units and very basic operational guidelines, perhaps he was rushed. Some of the essential contractual data entered was either omitted, or not entered correctly. And perhaps, I should have caught the errors. Sadly the space wasn't what I was expecting and didn't actually continue the process but by far the best customer service by the manager and the young gentle who helped me after. They're very professional and tried to help best as possible. Can't say the same for the Senter Road Uhaul in San Jose. I made a reservation with them for a moving truck and when I went to pick up the truck a 26', they had canceled my reservation for 1 hour because it was the only way I could reserve the truck without first getting through to me. They called me but I never responded so that does not mean they could cancel my reservation. Very disappointed with Senter Road Uhaul in San Jose but very happy with Laurelwood Uhaul in Santa Clara.

Was always asked to use a credit card, so the employee did not have to open a cash box. Paid my last month storage with cash. They did not have a change so they put it towards the next month. After paying my last month, I decided to move out of storage. On Saturday, August 12 I was completely moved out. Told them at the front desk. They said they would put the extra money I paid back on my credit card today is now Tuesday the 15th and I still not gotten the refund. I understand opening a cash drawer is extra work but you still accept cash as payment you need to be able to give out change without making a cost for a white.

Unfortunately the sirens are loud and nothing is done when they do go off as you walk by them they are good at getting your ears ringing. After hours they go off all the time for no reason. Cindy C | Expérience généraleIt's says I can do a check online but the code that was provided through email didn't work so I went to the front desk and was told that I actually needed a key card to swipe in and out the facility so the online code given actually doesn't work so it isn't really a fully online check in. However, the man in the front desk gave me a key card. I went to my unit and upon inspection I realized it was a 10x10. I thought they gave me the wrong size unit until I went back to the front desk and the same man explained that I actually had two units that equal to 10x20 right next to each other which is called a split unit which I booked for online. I actually like that it's a split unit because my children was minding their business in the other room while my wife and I unload everything which is much more safe since I have a toddler and she's always trying to get into things she's not supposed to. Often times hurting herself in the process. So I really like the split unit for that reason. It's also very cool that I was given 2 free locks for my unit. I appreciate that.

Carina C | Premières impressionsIt was really frustrating experience. There were NOT that many people in the line but the U Haul guy at the desk was so slow (oh my gosh - it was like sleep mode) . We spent good 2 hours for renting the units. We saw so many units had "customer ready" tags so we took the picture and showed him that he can give us a unit that is closer to Elevator - apparently ha does not know how to see which units are vacant and what size on the computer. His comprehension of "What we are asking" was questionable. There was another lady who seemed great but she had to go quickly as an emergency happened (A guy who had rented a hitch - had come off on the highway). Finally we got 2 units after perhaps 1,5 hours standing in the lobby - with 1 or 2 people in line. The units were NOT clean and one of them did not had the rodent trap - we were fortunate that we found Mr Roger, I believe who was cleaning the units - he was fast, happy, intelligent person who immediately took care of it. He told us that he only works on the weekend and he was surprised that the units were dirty and yet had the "Customer Ready" tag on them. He broomed and vacuumed the units and we gave him the Green tags so he knows that who must have cleaned those units. Overall, it was a frustrating, time wasting experience and if I have a choice, I will avoid it. For the facility itself - it was clean and seemed secure. If they change the staff and have the people who "take pride" in what they are doing and are happy - it can make a huge difference.

Again, it was held closed by a match stick with visible grinder damage, and they didn't contact us after resetting the alarm. After a very very long day, we got to storage unit and SURPRISE!!!!!!! Unit is in first floor and each floor has one upper level and lower lever, which in order to access to upper level units you have to take 11 stairs and you cannot take the carts directly to the unit. we contacted Uhaul costumer service and they said it is after hours and they cannot help us. Long story short, my wife and I ended up moving all our stuff through the stairs and put in the unit. I have been in very storage facilities and never seen anything like that. Who can move their heavy stuff 11 stairs. Whole point of having storage unit is able to go there by cart and easily load and unload your stuff. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE GET ANY STORAGE UNIT IN THIS FACILITY.

The signs in the elevator and on some of the walls are misleading because it says it is available upon request. * Split level units are only accessible via stairs (at least mine was) * Some people like to sneak in behind you without entering a code which can get you kicked out * The map of the facility is a bit confusing. It would be helpful if a custom one were generated for you that highlighted your unit (in yellow or something) on the map and given to you at move in.

He was the same clerk that served me last week and was not very friendly to me then as well. He took a picture of my driver's license which I felt afraid that he may use it for other none U-Haul business outside of his work hours. During the process of signing me in to get me my Access card. he asked if I knew my storage container number. When I said no, he quickly mocked me for not knowing the number of the storage room. When I showed him my Access number in the email I received after making the online purchase I said I don't see it in the transmittal but did see it in the original online order and I didn't remember it. The store manager quickly intervined to avoid further hostility between myself and the clerk and said that the number of the unit is probably further down the email message. She was very nice to me and I appreciated her presence their to prevent the clerk from continuing his bad behavior. I think it was racial bais for the reason of his disrespectful interaction with me. The siren in the storage area goes off multiple times per visit, is painful and appears useless as there seems never to be any response, and if anything it hides the sounds of any activities that it would supposedly protect from. Would appreciate access hours available a bit later than 10pm.

In order to make a living for myself I need access to my tools 24/7 now there were signs all over the facility that said "for 24hr access, please use front door, which I did. Next thing you know Santa Clara police is there accusing of my fiance and I of burgalury, and pointing assault rifles at us, slamming my fiance up against a squad car, calling us liars etc... and picking up our little puppy that was with us, by the scruff of her neck and then just tossing her in the back of the squad car like a rag doll. Then just letting us go, thank you U-Haul for not pressing charges against us (even though we had not committed any crimes on your premises.)

Someone was breaking into storage units including mine they jammed my lock. I was forced to get a lock smith to open the lock. My insurance didn't cover it. You are so far away from where I live I finally gave away the washer n drier just to not have to pay $120 a month anymore. I will never use U-Haul ever again.

The few times I did go to the storage unit it wasn't always convenient to get in with the card swiping system. Initially you would swipe your card to go in and out just as an accountability of you using your storage unit. However, eventually they changed it to swiping in and then also swiping another box in order to open up the doors without notifying the customers. I understand the change was a deterrent for random people coming into the storage area but there was a moment I went to the storage unit and the doors didn't work and the office wasn't open yet so it was an inconvenience to me.

While your facility was very well kept, and immaculately clean, and your staff (especially Alex Wentworth and manager Levi) were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and polite, I still don't understand how you could not have better camera coverage of at least the entrance areas nor of the surrounding parking lots, and why the alarms on the units were basically useless after hours (police said they didn't have license plate on the car that the thief used, nor any usable video to identify him, and no one responded to the alarm going off). And why the door latch could be broken on the side, rendering that heavy disc lock you recommend useless. We lost more than $15 000 of items, including a vintage and very rare guitar (irreplaceable, only 1 000 in existence), winter clothing, CDs/DVDs, computer equipment and most hurtful of all, our only copies of honestly thousands of personal photos, cards, documents and letters. As we had the smallest possible unit and we were upstairs, it seems clear to us that we were scouted by thieves before the robbery, but even with that no one could provide the police with suspects. So I have no idea where the cameras are, but to tout your keycard, alarm and lock system as being secure was clearly untrue. In short, we had a terrible U-Haul experience, and will not be recommending anything to anyone other than to stay away. I don't blame the team at the office as the choices on not having adequate cameras, actual alarm follow up or stronger unit doors are all corporate choices and probably standard at all locations (and likely choices made with cost savings in mind). We can never get our family photos and personal items replaced. That didn't have to happen if U-Haul held up their end of the bargain and truly had a secure facility.

The facility had run out. So we had to go get our own from Home Depot. Positive - I had gone to Southern California to get the last of my mother's belongings. I had missed estimating the actual size of storage I would need. The staff made it very easy for me to get the next larger size of unit. Also, I was not very happy with the lock situation and I was a bit short. The staff member treated me very well, even when I was short. My being short was my fault, and I congratulate the staff member for not reacting to my rudeness.

Apparently the one I was given isn't even a storage and the computer would not allow it to be changed. I spent over an hour only to leave without the storage I had reserved online.

Also, there were 50+ people from collegemoves (I think that's the company?) were all gathered around the entrance and constantly using the elevator once it started working. All of this caused my movers to take much longer than what was originally planned.. This ended up costing me a lot more money since the movers charge by the hour. On a positive side, Andrew was the one who helped me make the reservation and was really amazing. Kudos to him.

However, the door to the climate controlled area which is supposed to be opened for only renters of a storage unit, is open to anyone without needing to use the access card. There is no control on who enters the facility, so I personally felt unsafe leaving my stuff there. A paper notice at the elevator entrance that said "don't store mattresses. Fee will be charged". In my storage unit, there was a rat trap. The ceiling did not flush with the walls of the unit and the AC did not properly work which made the odors in the facility nauseating. The cost is the cheapest in the Bay Area, so it does align with the condition of the facility. I ended up checking out the following day after renting one unit since I found another facility at a much better condition (higher cost as well) that better suits my needs. This place is great to store items that don't need much care such as sky set, bicycles, table and lamp stand. Clothes, furniture, etc run the risk of exposure to pests.

This is a cheap decision considering that the unit will most likely be rented out immediately. Feel free to contact me but honestly this is one of MANY issues that I have had. The facility itself is great but the people running it are lacking in excellent customer service.
