I made a request to pick up a truck at 7 am and they arrived opening at 7:30. Then I went to return the truck and they wanted to charge me because the truck was dirty, where as soon as I picked it up, I delivered it as it was.

Edward W.The absolute worse experience ever. Coming from West Palm I originally booked a UHaul in Wellington Florida around 930am for $600. I asked a UHaul rep if they had another UHaul in Fort Lauderdale, which is where I was picking up furniture). Rep replied YES and gave me the address to pickup the truck. I get to Fort Lauderdale, call my point of contact only to be told that invldividual had an emergency and they had another UHaul available 10 miles away. The rep from the new location called and said the UHaul needed to be cleaned and should be ready by 1pm. I expressed that I was pressed for time and to ensure the truck was ready by 1pm. I arrived to get the truck to only find out the truck isn't ready. I called UHaul again to try and find me a truck. Finally was able to get a truck at 4pm. Worse experience ever.

I insisted this was unacceptable because i had confirmation of the reservation and I was told the system doesn't know what the store has and I had to call the store to confirm after the email confirmation.??? I also reserved for 12 hrs and the drop off was in the middle of the night, this time was confirmed online. The clerk then told me that that was not possible at this location so I had to bring the truck at 7am sharp. I find it ridiculous that I can get a confirmation online, via text and email and when I show up for pick up I am told none of it is true because the system doesn't match what the store offers? I did take new pictures of the truck as the ones they had did not match the truck. There were new scratches that I pictured before I started driving. I think they need to revamp that website and match both availability of equipment and mark that location as unavailable for after hours drop off.
Jorge Z.General Manager hung up the phone on me when there was a sign on the keybox saying that it was out of order and it was 1130 at night in an unsafe part of town and I was on the phone with customer support to figure out where I could drop the key off. The instructions were unclear and I have never witnessed such a level of unprofessionalism before in my life. I have never had a General Manager hang up the phone on me and tell me that he was trying to sleep and tell me that he didn't care about me. I will never be using the location ever again and I will be reporting this issue as I will likely not be utilizing UHaul's surface again unless there can be something that can be done to remedy this inconvenience. Moving is stressful as is and I had 2 days straight of moving only to waste an hour out of my day to deal with this issue in addition to the amount of time I am spending to report this issue and wait 72 hours in order to talk to upper management to contact me related to the issue. The customer support person I was on the phone with said that there was nothing that they could do and that it was pretty common for issues like this to happen in this area I believe I heard them say. All they said was that they documented the issue in the record only for me to get another automated message asking about my customer experience. I have never seen such a brazen act of negligence to a customer with any organization that I have done business with. This is just wrong and needs to be remedied.

Davontay C.The breaks were very very bad. We picked up the U-Haul at 9am on Saturday morning Dec 1st. Drove a couple of miles in very light traffic to our storage.. Left storage and got on the I95south to travel 15miles to the South of Miami and immediately realized just how bad and dangerous the brakes were on this vehicle. They did not meet any federal or city standards for stopping a vehicle of that size safely! A pure nightmare. Also the vehicle itself felt like it was shaking itself about when approaching 40mph. My wife had rented some same size vehicle in July with absolutely no complaints no issues, a good experience. Which is why we went back to this location and U-Haul. I complained about the poor condition of the vehicle and the safety issues and was told I should have called road side assistance. Firstly, we would love to have had a safer. Vehicle but calling roadside assistance on a busy freeway (art basel weekend in Miami). They are not going to unload a full truck of furniture on the freeway and mount it in a new truck. Secondly, they are not going to be able to put new rotors and break pads on the car on a busy freeway. We were doing U-Haul a favor by continuing to drive that vehicle not ourselves. The very poor response from Gene the manager, who cited many reasons why he couldn't/wouldn't verify the brake issues by testing it in the parking lot or around the block . The continued assistance by Gene that the vehicle was fully road worthy and brake tested beforehand was a prime example of not listening to your customers when they are giving you real time feedback on their customer journey and experience. We called customer service and received pretty much word for word the excused Gene had given us by the agent. Of course he called Gene and then repeated back exactly what Gene had told us. A complete lack of empathy for customer service and tone death responses is my take away from this u-Haul experience. Also told us the damage coverage was mandatory which was never stated in the website when reserving and the representative over the phone confirmed was optional. Never coming here again

When I asked about mileage and began to tell him about issues I had with truck he told me to call customer service. So from my experience it seems that no one physically at a Uhaul location can help you have to call customer service.

The vehicle was returned back to U-Haul 6 PM because the towing company took forever to pick it up from our home to bring it to the U-Haul location. We missed out on a job that we were supposed to have that morning because the vehicle broke down. However, we were still charge for the rental.

VIOLET B.Good afternoon , this experience has been one of the worst rentals I have ever experienced, from the first encounter with this 7th ave location, starting having no tag on the trailer iI reserved and being told to go elsewhere to find a replacement , then at this same location being rented a damaged 26 foot truck with body parts flapping off once fully loaded and up to road speed, The complete lack of remedy by the staff at local U haul locations is ridiculous , Then told I could remove the flapping parts so i could safely move the 26 footer from the 1800 # staff was the only temp relief due to the fact roadside was nowhere to be found , ( then told I could to drive it to get it repaired at a Uhaul service center due to it being fully loaded and my time window of use . . After driving to the service center on 199th in Miami gardens I was refused service " stating by the staff person via relay message from the manager by a phone call that it wasn't their truck thus they wont repair it). ( rudely told to leave ) .. ( noting the outside staff was ready to fix the issue). After driving back to north Miami (meanwhile i was unloading my content and making small trips in my own vehicles due to lack of remedy provided by U Haul and still being charged weekly??? ( i contacted U Haul 800# about a charge adjustment and help again ( nio info provided ) The truck sat roadside awaiting remedy by uhaul service repairs for pick up repairs anything , ( i was told leave keys in the truck ) The customer service and the other partners don't collaborate customers issues or information . Then im also charge daily from this 7th ave location for equipment that was not present, in the truck , charged for miles to and from repair that Uhaul advised charges for a damage truck that was not utilized. I expressed to the staff it was supposed to be a 3 day rental due to Uhaul lack of service the truck was around from the end of july month to Oct . .I was even charge $20 for a night drop off when i notified U Haul that the truck was still present at same address that road side was given and construction is in progress on Monday where the truck was parked so it needs to be moved asap , due to the fact the 800 person didn't call me back with info what i was to do with the truck ...i latter received a text message stating kauff tow company would be at the destination in 90 minutes . I informed Uhaul i was dropping the truck off at the 7th ave location..There is no reason to rent a damaged truck no reason this couldn't have been remedied much sooner with less time asking for help and no reason to incur such an over charge for a lack of service... BTW i called the 7th ave location and spoke with Sandra about the issues and billing and explained all this again and she stated the manager is out and he'd call me back shortly .That Was Monday and No call backs ...I'm not at all surprised .. But at least the U Haul 800 staff once on the phone tried to coordinate but to no avail.
