There was a short lady on staff who sounded like she was yelling at customers. The African-American lady and gentleman were helpful. I owned a cafe in San Franciscoâ€¦for 18 yearsâ€¦on lower Polk Street, no less. I'm not just talking about the counter employees. Your guys ( and I've only dealt with men on the yard) are fantastic. My truck was stolen and vandalized (broken ignition) when truck was recovered apparently it was full of garbage. That this location is sticking me with the bill (cleaning fee). This is not right, I also had Full coverage insurance. The manager lady was nasty rude, very short tempered, and hung up on me when I asked to talk to her boss. I wouldn't recommend this location to ANYONE!Kristina G.

Although I am satisfied with the installed hitch, my complaint is that my appointment was for 11am on Friday 10/15/21 and I arrived at 11am as scheduled. I asked that the wiring installation be taken off as we only need the hitch for carrying a bike rack, which the agent did. I was then told that the installer was still working on the vehicle ahead of mine. I asked how long it would be and the agent told me that he would finish that job but then he would be going for lunch and wouldn't be back until 1pm, two hours after my arrival. I said OK, what could I do after it had taken several weeks to get an appointment. I said I'll be back and I went off for a walk and an early lunch. I returned at 1:30 pm and my car had not moved. I sat in the "gazebo" outside in the 80F heat and saw that my car was finally picked up for installation at about 2:30pm. After not hearing anything about the job, I went into the office at about 3:35pm and was told it would be about ten more minutes. This was approaching 5 hours after my arrival (and also when I discovered the waiting room, quite a relief from the heat outside). At about 3:45, I went to ask about the installation and was told there was an error with my invoice as not just the wiring had been removed but the entire order had been cancelled. After much discussion, it was finally completed at 4pm and I could leave. Later, I checked my invoice and it showed that the labor charge was for 30 minutes yet it took 5 HOURS to get it done. Therefore, I am highly dissatisfied with the service and therefore i am unable to recommend U-Haul for hitch installation.Jack H.

There was a situation where the return cargo van was charged for multiple damages from a 7 mile trip. It turns out that I was being charged for the minor wear and tear on the vehicle and refuted those charges. I did submit a complaint to better business bureau on top of contacting the Bay Shore location. U-Haul did handle it correctly by reversing those charges. I know there is anxiety about making revenue post COVID. But I would think this company did well during COVID 19 with people leaving and moving to more affordable areas. So I would like to think that management would have better relations with their customers.SHERRI Y.

I chose to have a mobile check-in. I arrive at the location and am at a complete loss on how to approach the check-in with the addition of bad data service with my phone. However, that was a bad issue in my mind as I thought I can simply go inside to the registration area to seek help. There were 3 counters. 1 counter had a pair of customers, while the other 2 were empty. I assume they were busy finishing up some work. I finally get called up to the middle counter. I am met with a lack of friendliness and full of attitude that I somehow was a nuisance to her. Unfortunately, I did not get her name. She told me that she could not help me because I had already started the check-in process on my phone and that I needed to cancel my order first. Miraculously, my phone started to work with the check-in process and I no longer had to stay underneath the umbrella of embarrassment that the agent was putting me in. She proceeds to tell me to go outside to find my reservation van and to simply come back in for the key. There were no clear directions on where to search in the parking lot that was a sea of vehicles. After 15-20 minutes of mindlessly wandering around, I finally found my vehicle . However, it was parked behind another vehicle. I go back in for the key as I was instructed to do, in addition to letting her know that it was parked behind another vehicle. The agent visibly annoyed, completely belittles me infront of other agents and guests with claims that she gave me instructions if I faced that issue. I want it to be clear that the experience was already unclear and frustrating from the start with the mobile check-in. Never in my wildest dream did I think a face-to-face customer service experience would turn into me feeling like I was doing something wrong towards the business. Uhaul is a paid service to the public. Customers choose to use Uhaul. What I faced was a terrible representation of any company. I truly hope that this was simply a bad location/representative because I can't imagine ever using Uhaul again nor referring anyone.Johnson L.
The sales associates (3 females) were busy chatting with each other and using profane language. Their personal conversations seemed paramount to customer service. I checked in online Friday afternoon and uploaded my driver's license. Late in the afternoon I received a text telling me to check in online because of Covid. Since I had already done that I didn't pay too close attention to the text. At the bottom of that text was a SF address. We went to Redwood City Saturday morning (where we rented the trailer) and learned that we had to go to SF to get the trailer. The trailer had not been cleaned, the lower tail lights didn't work, then halfway to Texas the wiring failed to where we didn't have running lights. We couldn't reach anyone for help and after going to your website and notifying you we never got a response. I drove with my flashers on the remainder of the trip. It would be great to be able to reach someone while on the road who could have helped us get another wiring connection. My other comment is your website has several â€œbad requestâ€ responses when I hit the links. I'm not writing to complain but you should know of our problems. The previous time I rented a truck from you 19 years ago the truck broke down and we had to wait for the following day to get a replacement truck. Since that experience we've rented from Budget and Penske but thought we'd try your company again by renting a trailer. I will say your front line personnel at Redwood City and SF we're polite, courteous and very helpful. They represented you well.Jeffrey N.

The customer service was fantastic everyone was absolutely as helpful as they could be. I would give 5 stars but there was a couple of things I thought could use improvement: I returned the vehicle early, clean and was still charged the price of renting 24 hours. It was over 550 $dollars to use it from 11:30am to 6:00pm. The lady who assisted me was very polite, professional and told me I would still be charged the same when I inquired about early return. I was properly informed of the company policy but I don't think that is fair to the customer. I know I was charged extra for mileage as it is advertised but I feel like it was a very steep charge. The Truck I rented was great and I felt very safe driving it but it had only 1/4 tank of gas when I picked it up and the key provided did not work on the lock for the rear door so I was unable to lock the vehicle or leave it unattended. Luckily I was able to find help to get my stuff unloaded early to get the truck back. Otherwise, everything was great!ASHLEY H.

Dropped off the vehicle within 3 hours of pick up (same day). Upon arrival I was getting ready to use mobile drop off procedures when employee told me there is no need. So I took a picture of mileage and fuel level. My rental was a one day rental which I only needed for a few hours. The next day I noticed another charge for an additional day of rental plus other fees which totaled 57,00 $.Raymond W.
I was given a storage unit that had half the size of the other units but charged the same amount. My unit had a huge pole cutting through the middle of it which decreased the amount of available space for my belongings. The gas hose was slashed when we left the location, and we understand that this is an ongoing issue where people try to steal gas from Uhaul but adding an additional check of the equipment when checking out the trucks I Would be beneficial with an actual uhaul employeeNICHOLAS U.
When I picked up the truck, there was a pallet in the back and I thought it was provided by u-haul for convenience. However, when I returned the truck, one of the employees told me that either I took it or I will be charged for 50 $. This does not make sense at all!Miao Y.

UHaul protocols are probably in effect and followed at this location but you wouldn't know it. The customer is not a priority. I showed up for drop off at 4:50 pm and found a large UHaul rental truck pulled into the driveway. I waited and at 5:05 an employee came out and told me they closed at 5. As I backed up and left I noticed that all the workers were leaving which meant they were definitely ready to go by 5. UHaul does an excellent job with rentals etc. I will always use UHaul.Eugene H.

On check in I was asked for a second telephone number and I asked why. The woman said it was required, oh really where does it say that? Her answer was lame. The yard guy who helped me in attaching the trailer explained everything he was doing. He pulled the trailer about 25 yards over to my vehicle since the yard was crowded. Pretty good service and got me out quickly in the morning. When I returned, a different yard guy wanted me to back the trailer into the yard. It was obvious he was to lazy to take it and push it back like the morning guy had done. He told me take it back where I picked it up. He didn't realize I picked up where I was parked and told him I wasn't good at backing up a trailer. When he released the trailer he let it go and it crashed into another parked trailer. He just watched it go slowly rolling back, talk about not giving a crap he was great example. I was a little concerned since I did not want to be blamed for any damage but I took a quick look and none had occurred. Overall a good place to rent but the staff needs some training.NICHOLAS W.

Returned a trailer on 9/23/2021 That I was told by the manager I was Responsible for Mount that was Picked out by Jonathan dubon their counter person and Told not once but Twice! it was the Correct. Gave the Ball and Mount to the Trailer technician and he Installed on my 2016 Chevrolet 1500 had to Pull Over at Interstate 10 and Bob Hope Dr. Drove to the Chevron Station the Ball Came loose from Vibrations Trailer technician NEVER INSTALLED COTTER Pin! Was able to get to u-haul at 68075 Ramon rd Cathedral city cal 92234 . Return Trailer on 9/23/21 When I went to Explain what had happened and Told Repeatedly from the female counter person that I Bought Mount/Ball They Sold Me and Told me That it was the Right One Twice! Also their trailer technician I'll bet was Never been Trained properly But I was told this was my Responsibility! I'm sure their will Be no Fallow through! The outside is being taken over by homeless people. While we were waiting for our trailer to get hooked up another couple was trying to pull out with a small moving truck and trailer in tow, the staff sat and watched and never offered to help guide customer out they almost hit a small cement divider until my husband jumped in to offer some guidance. Not really very considerate of the staff in my opinion. Other than that they had the trailer I wanted and thank goodness my husband is familiar in using a trailer because I would not have much confidence in the guidance of the staff to rely on.IRINA M.

This was an exceptionallywonderful experience. Everyone was so kind and helpful and cared about doing good work. Lydia was a terrific ray of sunshine and efficiÃ«nt help while I checked out: I was worried about a 4p return time and so she offered a 645p as the last return time available. That time allowed us not to stress while moving during the day. AND Andrew helped attach the trailer to the car worked quickly, while maintaining an eye for detail. (The blockers we're working on the trailer he sprung into action to get another cable and was ready to get a new lightbulb if needed). When he inspected the inside he noticed it was a bit dusty and offered to mop it out. He also provided a couple tips of how to back up eith the trailer and what to watch out for. This experience reminded me that an experience with a brand really comes down to the people on the front lines, and Lydia and Andrew were so terrific, I won't hesitate to come back and I've already told 4 different friends about my experience.SUZANNE F.

1st of all, the Uhaul rep that took my order, Debbie Zaldana, was very rude and insulting. She didn't explain what the text was for and she didn't give me clear direction as far as where to find the rental. It wasted 30 mins trying to find the rental vehicle. After coming back to the order desk, she thought it was funny that I couldn't find the truck. Is it possible you can hire people that are customer service trainable? She really cast your company in a bad light as far as I'm concerned. You need better personnel than her.CHARLES C.

I ordered in advance to pick up from Redwood City location. When I arrived to collect I was told I needed to go to Bayview, half an hour away. When I said I needed to drop off at Redwood I was told that it would cost 100 $more, plus an extra 20 $/day and that my 8 day rental could only last one day. I was charged extra for gas when in fact I returned the truck with a little more gas compared to when I drove it out the lot. I pumped gas right before I returned the truck (gas station was only about 3 blocks away) and made sure it had enough gas. The staff on the other hand were very nice and friendly, not sure why I was being charged extra for gas.DENIRO M.
I showed up to collect my pickup truck. I was given the key to a truck completely boxed in by others, I then had to run around to find a staff member to get the keys for the other trucks so that I could pull out. Once I was able to get in the truck I was assigned, the gas tank was completely empty. I then had to go back and find another staff member to assign me yet another truck. I was finally assigned a truck that was accessible and had gas (nearly an hour later). However when doing the vehicle inspection the gas level in the car was lower than what was on the report. I took a picture of the fuel level at the start of my rental to prove that I did not use that much gas. At the end of my rental, I showed this to staff who assured me I would not be charged for fuel. I later get my receipt and I'm charged an additional 63 $for fuel I did not use. I called and emailed the location to resolve this and got no response. Rough experience for me because of how seemingly unprepared staff was for my arrival though I booked ahead of time and arrived on time. And poor communication/issue resolution when errors were identified.Emma R.
The staff and the mechanic were all professional and competent. I suggest that you ask/point out to the customer, if they/he/she are dropping off their vehicle, some of the local, convenient buses. After packing for months, having Covid affect my family, and only having my son able to help me move, finally going to your facility and experiencing awesome help, courtesy, patience From your worker Wendy I felt like such a burden lifted off my shoulders. She made it so easy to check in and get my storage area. She gave us a tour and was very pleasant always had a smile on her face and showed us all we needed to know with the cards in the elevator etc. I couldn't be more pleased. Being 64 years old and moving to another state was a lot on my shoulders. But your U-Haul facility and your worker Wendy made it a much more pleasant experience. Truly an outstanding storage facility in every way, which I always recommend to friends in need of one or more storage units, and where I have rented multiple units perhaps for 20 years. Your staff are excellent too, in particular the Storage Manager at Bayshore U-Haul, Debbie Zaldana, who has always been exceptionally helpful and provided supervisory assistance if needed throughout the many years I have rented my several storage units, as have friends to whom I recommended the location, none of whom ever regretted their decisions to rent units at Bayshore U-Haul! Without a doubt, the staff at this UHaul understand Customer Service. It's clear that the GM, Don has created a positive environment and sets a great example for his employees on how to conduct business. Both he and the storage Manager Debbie helped my son and I with a quick install of a trailer hitch and solutions on how to get his stuff back to Texas without costing an 'arm and a leg'. I especially loved hearing that someone from the cleaning crew offered up tools and a helping hand when it was apparent that getting the pallets of stuff from the third floor to the dock was going to be a challenge. I got in at 6:45 and the staff that was working refused to allowed me to move into my unit. So as a "favor" they "allowed" me to park my open trailer with all my stuff in the hitch bay. I do not understand why you say you're open until 7. When I came the next day I was told that no one knew how to open the hitch bay and that I had to come back at 3. They also told me that they don't understand why the people on Saturday didn't let me move in then. This was extremely inconvenient. Then, even though I reserved a ground floor unit, it turned out to be a 5th floor unit with steps that had to be climbed to get my stuff in. This wasn't mentioned anywhere and was not what I reserved. So I had to upgrade to an 8x8x8 on the third floor to avoid the steps which is costing me considerably more money. It also has a column in the corner so it's not really an 8x8x8. The column is easily 1x1x8 so why am I paying for an 8x8x8? Doesn't seem fair. Lastly, zero of your male employees were masked berating a mask around your neck or mouth doesn't count. Suffice to say, I'm looking for another place to store my stuff and judging by my experience on Saturday evening, I'm guessing no one really cares so. I also need to say that while there was some effort to remedy my situation on Saturday there is no reason I couldn't have been given my card and allowed to move my stuff in. My "staff friendliness rating" was based on the Saturday crew. The Sunday crew was much more helpful and I'd give them a "yes" for this question.allan g. | Premières impressions

The worst experience EVER - first the location on Bay street saw my reservation but said they had nothing available due to a glitch and didnt see to care that i made this reservation a month in advance and called everyday the week leading up to me need the storage for a week and they confirmed it but when i arrive they tell me otherwise. I had to really lose my patience from the frustration to finally get them to find me a new storage facility which is how i ended up in Bay shore. What is the problem with you people? I have money in my account, my account is still the same and nothing has changed. I have been a customer with you for 5 years and my account has been on auto payment the whole time. You have to first request payment from my bank and in turn, they pay U-haul as they have for the the last five years but you already know this and that's why I believe you periodically try and scam or deceive customers into delinquency with their storage rooms. Please do what you were supposed to do in the first place and request payment of 129,00 $ from my bank and refund the late fees. I have been here between 5-10 years. The past couple of years I have always found it clean. This was the worst experience I've ever had hands down and you better believe this won't be the only place I'm reaching out about it. every review channel every phone number you have... expect to hear from me. After being told my the van company that we could only have the van till 5 even tho we rented it for the day because "other people needed it" our movers were then 2 hours late (booked by UHaul) and when we got to your "facility" we are told the unit size we reserved not only isn't available but doesn't exist. at which point the dude who was "helping us" called over Wendy who obviously couldn't care less about what was happening even though I had 2 movers waiting that had already completely unloaded our van and STILL she wanted to make us go to the Bryant location to get a Ubox from them instead. The most mismanaged badly run facility i've ever seen. While i was there i heard 2 other people have meltdowns because you guys ruined their reservations and took payment for services you could not provide. whoever the GM is, expect to be hearing from me. I had to pay my movers an extra 120 $to stay another hour since this dumpster fire of a situation took up an hour of the time they were supposed to be moving my stuff into the unit. On top of this nightmare the one locker available was at the top of a pully ladder stacked ontop of another unit. AND IT'S 40 $+ MORE THAN WHAT I RESERVED ONLINE. I expect this price match to be met after this hellfire saga. I have to say the mismanagement of this location is a joke.
