Reserved a storage unit online. When I got to U-Haul I discovered that there was a structural pole taking up the majority of the unit. There was nothing on the website stating that this would be the case. This was the only storage unit available so I had no option but to get it. Overall, pretty disappointed with U-Haul

John T.Terrible experience. TERRIBLE. Was confirmed for a 10 pm van pickup. When i got there, was not able to find a vehicle. After spending 2 hours with several customer service people (some who didn't even bother calling back when the line gets disconnected- after me holding for 30 mins to get to them), i got help finding a truck but guess what- NO KEYS ANYWHERE and another Van was parked infront of mine. All this being said, I reserved a van and was confirmed for one but when I got there i wAs told by the person on the phone that I can only get a 10†truck. After spending 30 mins trying to find keys to the truck, and another 1 hour holding/talking to customer service peeps (who tried to but couldn't help), had to leave the location. Overall spent 3 hours on the road, no help, no truck at the end, had to pay extra money for uber to get back home, and credit card already charged for the truck, i had to postpone all my moving plans coz I couldn't get the truck. Next morning, when i go back, the employee at the location tells me that their location is not setup for after hour truck rentals. Thanks UHAUL for cheating me and wasting my time. Clearly you guys have no respect for customers time.

The customer experience overall is just awful. I chose a location with equipment available, skipping over those where there was no guarantee. Then you wait until the last minute and switch to a location 60 miles away - a bait and switch tactic that customers HATE and is borderline illegal. So I give the facility 4 stars and the executive team at Uhaul 0 stars. You create nightmares for customers in the name of lower customer acquisition cost and asset utilization. You have lost a customer and I will be heading to social media next. Goodbye

I asked customer service prior to coming they confirm I should not any issue leaving car at the location. The person at the counter was almost rude as if I should know that parking at customer responsibilities. I could have easily gotten a ride to place if I knew that there is not parking for customer. I should be refunded for parking and parking violation of $40. Never again.

Kitae K.The employees were rude and did not honor U-Haul's Reservation Guarantee as stated when I made the reservation online and on U-Haul's Reservations Advisements page: https://www.uhaul.com/reservations/reservationadvisements.aspx With reservation #22720946, I booked a 15' Truck from U-Haul Moving & Storage at Central Square. They did not have the 15' Truck that I reserved. Instead, they said my only option was to take a 10' Truck or wait until later that evening, which I could not do because my flight out of Boston was scheduled for prior to that availability. Thus, I had to make do with a 10' Truck, which ended up costing me 3 times the number of trips I was originally planning on taking given the size of my belongings I was moving. When I tried explaining to the employees at the store that the reservation guarantee meant I was entitled to both $50 as well as their best effort to find an alternative for my reservation, the employees did not make any attempt at understanding my point of view and in fact became angry very quickly, threatening me. General Manager Kurt was particularly rude and vitriol, refusing to engage with me or read the very clear language on the U-Haul website that I was showing him. He said I could “get lost†if I didn't like the truck he gave me. This is not how I expect customer service anywhere, let alone at U-Haul which prides itself on good service so much. I just wanted my $50 “Reservation Guarantee†payment for the mis-scheduling on their part for the equipment I needed, but instead I was met with aggression and disrespect.

I ended up taking the 10" truck, which I had to return within the hour cause it was too low for loading dock. I called customer service and they said there was a 15" truck at location I rented from. I made reservation for 15". When I went to exchange truck he still they didn't have a 15" truck. I said, how? I have a reservation. He said oh, we have one! Very disappointed with experience. Time wasted and extra hour to pay movers unnecessarily. Why did he lie?

Zhenfei X.I had a van scheduled for 5/27 and it was the worst experience one can imagine. The van that was assigned to me was not an acceptable one, it was dirty, not only from the outside but also inside in the trunk bed. The car had not been cleaned after it was returned. The car had a lot of damage, bumps, scratches, broken items. This is not an acceptable car to be rented. It took me more than an hour since I entered your facility before I could leave as the car needed to be somehow cleaned (not fully cleaned) and go document all the damage. The staff was not really helpful, only Greg recognized that the van should have been sent for repair before it is rented again. For all the inconvenience and wasted time, I request a refund! I am also pretty sure the per mile charge is $1,19 for a 9' cargo van but i was charged $1.39. the counter was at 9885 not 9884. I want a refund. This is the worst experience I ever faced when renting a car / van and was expecting UHaul to provide a better service.

Morgan P. | Online Move InI arrived at the facility a day before my move-in storage date to ask questions about the process. The employee behind the desk was not very helpful when I asked where to pick up the truck and where the storage units were located. All he could tell me was that my reservation existed for the following day, and he told me that tomorrow I would, "pick up the truck and then store [my] stuff", which I clearly was already aware of. I booked this months in advance and double checked with a Uhaul employee over the phone that the size of the truck and storage units would be large enough for a full size bed, a sofa, and multiple suitcases. Additionally, I was clearly told that monthly storage was pro-rated. Upon arriving, I could not fit my bed in the storage unit and had to rent a second unit last minute. On top of that, all lower level units were full. The only upside was that there was one other storage unit available for me to use on that day, which I was grateful for. The storage unit was clean enough, though I had very strong allergies as soon as I walked into the storage space, and my skin started breaking out into rashes within minutes, which rarely, if ever, happens. Overall I would not recommend this storage space and the service I received was misleading and subpar.

(A first-rate manager and a responsive problem-solver, Mr. Francisco's terrific customer-service skills make him an excellent representative of the U-Haul brand.) I did have concerns about the presence of many small moths-a problem that persisted in my unit despite Mr. Francisco's prompt retention of an exterminator. Also, I was disappointed to find that my vintage leather suitcase (which had been sitting directly on the concrete floor) showed damage from an unidentified liquid seeping up for several inches. (The affected area was covered with mold, as well.) Mr. Francisco listened attentively, personally inspected the damage, and encouraged me to speak with him again after I had an opportunity to review the case and its contents. I intend to do so at my earliest convenience…

paul d. | Expérience généraleIt was so stressful and difficult to move our stuff into the uhaul, for various different reasons. 1. The staff were not super friendly or helpful. We had been traveling all day and were exhausted when we arrived, and weren't 100 % sure how it all worked. The staff didn't help us understand, but just sort of told us we were in the wrong place and had been told bad information. They were more interested in checking out at 8 pm than helping us. 2. We did finally manage to sort out returning the van and renting a room to put the boxes in. But we were told the garage was broken, so we had to lug all our items nearly a quarter-mile between where we were allowed to park, all the way across very poorly maintained sidewalks, over the raised doorstep, up the steep slope, and through the twisty hallways. It took a very long time. We were expecting to work hard - moving is never easy - but the fact that the garage was broken AND we had to park quite far away AND the only door that worked was raised meant that it was way more difficult than it should have been. 3. The carts! They were so bad! You expect moving carts to be fairly easy to maneuver, but these were extremely hard to steer and push. It was almost easier to carry everything ourselves. We did have to carry things in ourselves at points because the doorways were too narrow, or the carts too hard to steer around corners or over door thresholds. All in all, this was an awful uhaul facility. I'd tell friends and family to go literally anywhere else before coming here.

First, the garage door was broken the entire month I was there and I had to drag my stuff in through the small, person entry door and drag it on the carts up the giant ramp to get to my box. Second, I wasn't told the box was going to be stacked on top of another and I'd have to climb a ladder. That wasn't indicated when I was given the unit. Third, I did not know I needed my own lock until I was at the cashier and I had to buy one from y'all instead of something else. Lastly, there was confusion for someone on y'alls end when I moved out. Someone didn't update the records and I was sent another bill which got figured out but it was very annoying. It just wasn't a good experience. The worst part of it for me was the garage door issue, it was broken for a month and no one was there to assist with items I had to literally take apart my furniture piece by piece and shove it through a standard doorway and drag it up the ramp and then climb a ladder and put it away. It was just so frustrating the entire time.

And most employees have attitudes. And some one stole from me in this facility.

Several additional conveniences include that the facility is climate controlled, has a nice restroom (always super clean?!) , has spacious hallways, and they provide several carts for moving your stuff around. Access was easy with the uhaul card, swipe in the right box to check in, swipe in the left box to unlock the door, open the garage door and drive right in. Even though there's really only room for 1-2 cars at the top of the ramp, I never was unable to pull up and do my thing in 6 months of regular use. I paid <$150/month for quite a big space. It's a really good deal considering the price/sq ft in Cambridge. The facility is frequented by homeless people, who probably appreciate the affordable and safe storage. I never felt uncomfortable, and was never solicited for money - they were either chill and friendly or privately going about their business. First month free, and checkout was easy. Just show them a pic of the empty unit. A bit of feedback for improvement: The screws used in the construction of the units were much too long, so there are several exposed screw tips (1-1,5") coming through the walls of the unit, giving a decent probability you could puncture yourself if you were moving stuff around in there and not being careful. These could be shielded with plastic drywall anchors or cut off?
