The gas tank was empty when I was told it would be 1/8. I was told to hurry up and fill it. I paid to fill it up but got no money back, because it was a little below 1/4. When I told the guy he said that they had been stealing their gas. The people shouldn't pay for that. It's not our fault but it is us who suffer that. Overall, pretty unjust.oscar E.

Upon arrival, there was a long line. There was one employee working the front desk. There should have been an announcement that, if there's a drop off you will be helped by other employees outside. I took it upon myself to walk to the desk to ask, if I needed to stand in this long line, just to return. I had to come back inside, just to get a printed receipt, I have to admit that the one lone employee at the checkout, remained cool, calm and collected.Patricia H.

Maybe have someone that brings the vehicle around for you. Giving keys and pointing to the trucks is not the best wayâ€¦so yes, that would be nice to have someone find the truck for you and pull it up front.Gina E.
please review my case file. my truck broke down in Palm Desert on 5/31-it was towed to my house on 6/1 unloaded and picked up on 6/2. you could not locate the truck and today charged my cc for almost 1 000 because this location determined that the truck was 14 days late. crazy. i will never use uhaul again.Matthew K.

The whole truck rental experience was terrible. Initially booked pick up 10am, 26' truck. When I check morning of pick up, I noticed my pick up time had changed to 2pm. I had to call the 800 number to rebook for 10am. Get to pick up location at 10am, Lady there tells me they can't find truck keys and if I could wait until 3pm. I waited 20-30mins or so to see if they would deliver keys to her. Never happened. I had to call 800 number to pick up truck at foothill. Arrived spent over 40mins in line. Didn't have 26' had to downsize to 20'. Gave me keys that didn't match the contract truck number. Had to wait another 15-20mins so my truck could be found. Truck had just gotten checked in but not cleaned. I had to leave cause was running late so I took it as is. Dirty exterior and some debris in box area. Only had a 1/4 tank of gas. I had to stop at gas station and accidentally filled up the tank. Since I downsized to 20', I had to stuff additional cars to move my stuff in one day. A 26' footer is all I needed. Dropped it off about 70miles in Inglewood with 3/4 tank full. No reimbursement just a thank you from uhaul Inglewood. Arrived at 11am to check in truck but waited another 45mins in line because I needed a storage unit so I could unload some stuff in the truck then check truck in. The customer service agent available didn't know how to process my one month free storage for one way trip and manager was busy. Another agent helped me but the process was awfully slow. Checked in around 1 pm and was charged additional day of rental $58.00. Plus my initial $144 and extra gas $$ on the truck. My overall experience was horrible. Just a nightmare.Ramiro C.

I thought the extra rented equipment would already be in the truck not in a separate location. We didn't have a problem but had to go looking for it. I don't know how we would have gotten it if it was before business hours as we originally planned.Mark D.
I rented a 6 by 12 trailer to pull my golf cart and I also made it clear I needed it to have a drop gate like a ramp so I can drive my golf cart into the back of the trailer. When I got there and pulled in the two workers hooked up the trailer inside it was okay and I drove off period when I went home to load up my golf cart, it was the wrong gate that did not touch the floor and like gave him and I had to go and get ATV ramps which cost me more moneyPAUL P.

It took 2 hours in line before I was helped with my rental and 15 minutes to process the exterior of my trailer rental was muddy next time I won't rent equipment at the end of the month or holiday weekend thank you.Ricardo D.
The location doesn't show up on navigation so it was very hard to direct my family to pick me up and help me drop the truck back off. The truck had the fuel thing underneath open so I drove all the way home with it open and pouring gas on the street. The lock for the trailer was cut and I had to go pick up a new one once all my stuff was loaded. I complained to the manager because I shouldn't be responsible for maintaining their truck and he shrugged me off and said oh well. I would never rent from here again.Brandon S.

I reserved two furniture dollies the people in front of me and the people behind me also had done them none of us had furniture dollars they were giving us appliance dolly. When I asked the owner or manager why didn't they have more I have plenty well apparently he doesn't the three customers that ordered them could not receive them them so I had to buy two dollars or $40 with the amount of U-Haul that he has on property it makes it so hard to get in and out of the location. They take the driver to the truck and walk away I'm where the keys are for the truck or anything so they have to go back to ask for the keys for the truck where they were in the visor, on one of the tires are under the seat. The cab was not kept clean the inside of the truck itself was unacceptable it was very sticky overall one of the worst experiences with U Haul. Hopefully never have to rent from them againLawrence V.

Make sure vehicles are equipped with what customers ask for when making reservation. In my experience reserved a pickup truck with tow hitch and we were informed upon leaving that the hitch would be already on the truck because most of their truck come with it.. and we trusted so we left and a couple miles down when i drove behind my husband i noticed it wasn't on there so had to drive back to get it cause they said they took it off to use it for another truck and i wasn't refunded for those miles i had put in for coming back to get the hitch. The return for after hours was a easy process i loved it.Robert H.

My experience with U-Haul Fontana has been consistently atrocious. This is my second move using this location (after two years I forgot the lesson I had learned the first time) and though my experiences with other U-Haul branches have been great, I cannot recommend that store to ANYONE who wants their move to go smoothly. For this move: - 3 U-Boxes ordered, but only one was ready on the day of my move. This delayed my move by a day. - Failure to provide any furniture pads with the first U-Box. With a 2-hour line of truck returns in between me and getting more furniture pads, we packed multiple items with cling-wrap and no pads, which were unsurprisingly damaged in transit. - Failure to keep track of the numbers on my U-Boxes, so the store couldn't give me a status. Got one call one day telling me my boxes wouldn't be loaded onto a truck for another week because the Fontana store goofed up on entering the boxes in the system. - The next day I got a notification that my U-Boxes had already arrived 400 miles away. Come to find out the Fontana crew had loaded my boxes onto a truck and forgotten to punch it into the system. Sacramento crew pulled some strings to move my booking so final delivery was only 4 days late. All in all I love the U-Box service, but using the Fontana store got me: - a day of delays resulting in a HUGE amount of unnecessary stress for the week - lost income from lack of a workable office without any time to plan around it - additional expense working around 4 days without a bed to sleep in - waste of my time needing to call back and forth with the corporate office to troubleshoot exactly which parts of my order the Fontana office had messed up.Kevin K.
I did the mobile check out and was ready to pick up my keys. There was line of people out the door, so I walked to the side of the counter and the worker left. There was confusion amongst the customers as too which line was for reservation pick up and regular rentals. Now there was one person working the computer and it took an hour to just finally to get the keys! Never again!Adrian C.

Wait time to pick up truck was alittle long and the truck I reserved and confirmed the night before wasn't actually available however they did upgrade me to a 20 footer and added 40 extra miles onto my reservation for no added charge. Rented a truck to move my sons belongings out of my garage and into his own place. When we got there to rent the truck we waited for over an hour. The system the rental system kept being interrupted. I was asked if I wanted to purchase the extra insurance (which I did). The employee hands us the keys and tells us to find the truck. We did. The truck was blocked in and impossible to get out. So we went back to the front asked an employee for assistance and even he couldn't move the truck out. So he went back in to get keys for another truck. it took him an hour to get the keys. we spent over 2 hours there to rent this truck. He brings the keys and promises an extra rental day. We didn't need the extra rental day, as we were going to be finished rather quickly with the move. The plan was to return it that same evening. Unfortunately, there was a storm and it would have to wait until morning. Early in the morning, My son called me as he was walking his dogs he noticed the truck was gone. He called me, and I called the police department and checked local towing companies to make certain that it wasn't just towed. Well, it was stolen. I called Haul immediately, and was told to report it stolen with the local police department, and to call them back with the report number, officers name and badge number. I did so. I asked the customer service representative "what happens next?". She told me that we have to wait until is recovered, that as soon as its recovered Uhaul would contact me and let me know it was recovered and if there was any property in there upon recovery I could come and get it. My son was going to bring his bed frames (2) back to my house and left them in the truck.I asked her what I was responsible for and she said "just the rental". Then she asked if we had the keys to the truck still. I told her I did. She instructed me to bring the key back at my earliest convenience so when the truck is recovered they can assess damage, etc. Well, I explained that I worked nights and told her I would bring the keys on my day off and she said that was fine. I brought the keys into the rental office and explained to the employee what happened. He verified that the report number and the officers information were entered. I then asked him what I would be responsible for, he also told me "just the rental". Well the truck was recovered. No one contacted me to let me know. In fact the way I found out the rental contract was closed was because these folks charged my card $3,470. I immediately called Uhaul customer service, and they filed a complaint form. She told me they charged me for a dolly, blankets, mileage AND tow recovery and tow equipment usage. I didn't rent a dolly or blankets so I have no idea why they charged me for equipment that I didn't not rent, AND there was no dolly or blankets in that truck when it was rented. I also should not be held responsible for the tow charges or tow equipment used in the recovery of their truck. I would most definitely say do not rent from these guys. There was mis management in allotting vehicle as keys were not found for first one allotted to me...nitin S.
I understand this location was having difficulty due to short staff. I waited a long time in line. When I came up to the register I provided my reservation number. We went through the entire process. We drove away with the tow, which was hooked onto our truck by the employee, he took a photo but never mentioned anything about us taking photos. This is the first time ever that I rent something from U-Haul. When we delivered the tow, we were trying to get charged for a chain which was placed incorrectly. The employee when we can back tried to say that we had removed the chain, which we did not. We had no Tim, no knowledgeable and no interest in removing or unhooking the tow. Unfortunately,even though I received a text link to take photos, i didn't know I had to.no one mentioned anything about this link. So i did not know I had to, I did not know there was this link. It was dumb of me but being that this is my first time, I had no idea. Fortunately they did not charge me extra for the change. But I'm reality, this was a horrible first experience. Not only was there an inconvenience, but the chain and the hook from the tow was placed incorrectly which I now understood have been life threatening for us. Also, the wrap that goes around the car' tire that is supposed to hold the car being towed, is almost completely ripped. Had that ripped, my car would have flown off the tow. I understand there are difficulties we all face at work. We try to do the best out of what we have. But putting our life and putting my property in danger, that does have to be a bit more considerable.Yesenia F.

I could not get my keys on time because they were in a lock box that it was impossible to open. My moving trip got delayed one day. I returned the truck at a different location. I was charged an extra day. I only used the truck for 12 hours. Calling customer services is very challenging. Waiting times are very long. I know your company has a monopoly of the moving business but maybe thinking about your customers convenience a bit would be a great business strategy.Johnny M.

U-Haul's very competitive, perhaps best, prices while not imposing a greedy move-in fee is a refreshing surprise. Getting stuff into my 2nd-floor unit without an elevator was a bit awkward, but I'm a better man --pumping iron-- without the noise, and I likely saved time. The office person forgot to give me a map of the units in the hallways, and there's no arrowed marquee and no unit numbers marked at each of the numerous halls of units and stairways leading to the 2nd-floor halls. The lady who help me there at foothill fontana,she do my paper works for almost 1 and half hours and when I saw the storage that I want to renting my furniture not even fit in that small storage and it’s all the way on top how I’m going to put my big refrigerator,there is a stair..waisting my time that moment...and the lady who’s helping me the line was very long and she’s always talking about her drama take me for ever and I just cancell my reservation cuz the storage was very tiny and I ask first is the fridge and couch fit to that storage she said yes,omg when I saw the storage tiny small,really waste my timeHELEN B. | Premières impressions

Unfortunately the storage was not available. Staff offered a storage that was almost double the price so I declined. I reserved the 1st floor $59.99. Staff was nice. However, I feel like they wait until customers arrive and then are forced to modify the reservation in order to make more money. Totally unprofessional. The only reason I would not recommend this facility to a friend is because they have regular sized doors instead of the garage pull up doors so it was hard to place things . The height of the storage isn't very high. And the hallways to the storage are narrow . I know this is a storage but they have mouse traps inside of the unit which takes a little space and it's a little sketchy because I've never seen traps inside storage could be a good or a bad thing. If you don't have large couches to move in this space would be good for you . Also Miguel knows how to handle difficult customers. I was helped by him initially and he was very pleasant but when I came back I received another girl which was pleasant as well and then was helped by another girl which complicated certain things because they did not relay messages on .
