The trailer I reserved was not returned in time for my pickup time. I had the 50 $guarantee which I was reimbursed so money was not a problem. The staff was so wonderful and apologetic for this problem that was not even their fault. I was called ahead of time and told the trailer will not be ready and they found me another local location that I could find a trailer that fit my needs. My trailer was waiting for me at the St. Paul location and the staff was so friendly and helped me out with everything I needed. After my pickup, I was called again by the Apple Valley location and once again was told how sorry they were for the situation. I couldn't have been happier with the way they handled the situation. The three employees who were there were so phenomenally helpful despite the location being extremely busy. Anthony was one's name and I can't remember the other two's name, but the three men there at about 1pm on September 18th were so helpful and went above and beyond to help me out in a pinch. They gave me a Truck that was parked at where they'll park a Truck that wasn't supposed tp be rented out. The Manager and 2 other employees couldn't figure out what is wrong or why the truck parked there. So they gave me the key and said that the customer before me probably parked at the wrong place. The Truck was parked in between of two other Uhaul so I didn't bother to check the passenger side and I drove off. Right when I entered the Highway to where I need to pick up my furnitures. I realized that the Right Mirror of the Truck is missing. Due to the design of the Highway, It put me at the yellow line when I switched Highway. At that time I was going wild fearing I gonna run someone over if I try to get to the very right line get off the Highway. I had no vision of anything on my right side. This is a very busy road where u move little inches evey second. Heading on 94 Highway cutting Downtown Minneapolis. I almost ran over some car trying to make slow turns in hope someone would notice something is wrong or let me pass. The good thing is that I wasn't along and my brother was on another car. They were able to notice that I might need help turning right when I use the signal for over 30sec without turning. They then block the right line and let me make the switch in line. That's how we travel in out trip to get out furnitures that's closing at 5pm. We pick up the truck at 4:00pm I had to make it there.Jan X.

I am not pleased with the service I have received from U-Haul over the past several weeks. I have had two contract #'s: 21920862 and 828465561. 21920862-- I requested a 5x8 trailer. Was told there wasn't one in the M/SP area, yet when I went by U-Haul sites in the city, there were several sitting on lots, I took the 6x12. This was to be a one-way rental to St. Louis, to be turned in on 9/14. U-Haul did locate a 5x8 in M/SP, so I turned the 6x12 in at 2520 Como St, St. Paul. I was charged 702,13 $ for this trailer. I was told I would get a refund since I turned it in on 9/2, since this became a one-way to St. Paul. I have yet to receive any refund 82846561--- This was to be a one-way rental to St. Louis, turning it in on 9/14. This was a replacement for the 6x12, which was not my choice from the site at 2520 Como St, St. Paul. I was charged 453,58 $ and was told the manager at the Como site would be giving me a refund for the 6x12 trailer. I have not received this refund as promised over a week ago. I received a call today from the St. Louis site, asking about the 5x8 trailer and I told the person I had requested to turn it in on 9/14. It will be turned in by 4 pm on 9/14. When I went to turn traler in this afternoon, I was told I wowed 298 $. I like this price much better than the 453 $I was charged. The Gen Mgr, then said I didn't owe anyuthing, as I showed him the contract. The miscommunication, lack of product and unkept promises has driven me to never use U-Haul again. I run a bicycle tour company and have needed a trailer on several occasions to operate my business, but I am now taking my business elsewhere. Dennis HughesDennis H.

This is a terrible experience because you never know how much money you are spending. You give a quote but then keep adding charges. Something I thought was going to cost 600 $now looks like it is costing me 1 000 $. Everything should be obvious up front and it isn't. Plus, why can't you schedule a pickup and drop off in one sitting. I had to wait until my stuff was picked up to even know if I'd get it back for moving day. That's dumb.David G.

My son and I rented a U-Haul van in August at 2520 Como Ave and despite the fact that there was a line of people even before it opened, one particular employee cheerfully helped those waiting, remaining calm even when an undertrained fellow employee needed help, and the location clearly understaffed on that Sunday. We again rented a van September 1. Anthony Duke was amazing! He represented the U-Haul company professionally, obviously knowledgeable about the rentals and product sales. If I owned a company, I would have offered him a job on the spot that day! I hope U-Haul recognizes and rewards Anthony for his hard work and commitment to the company. Not every employee goes the extra mile to offer such a high level of service.sue C.
I tried using the 24/7 pickup method. When I arrived and followed the steps to get the truck, it wouldn't work and the app stated I needed to wait for the store to open (2 hours after my reservation time) in order to get the truck. I waited on hold with customer service for 45 minutes who also were not able to resolve the issue. I had movers scheduled and lost 1,5 hrs of time with them (150 $/hr) because I couldnt get the truck at my scheduled time. The process was not smooth and when the store finally opened (Yes I had to wait 2 hours for the opening in order for someone to physically get the truck) - the person working was rude and complaining that other people didnt show up for work that morning.TARRENCE R.

The online reservation/check in experience was awful. After completing the necessary steps, the check in system gave me the number for a van that was not on the lot. I wasted 45 minutes of my reservation time looking for and dealing with this. If you offer that type online check-in type of rental, it better work. I paid for 4 hours of van, and had about 3 because of U-Haul's faulty system.Kyle G.

The girl behind the counter that helped us was great. She was helping us and another person. When we walked in there were 3 people in front of us and we needed to be at our move address in 1/2 hour. The whole experience was terrible! I had repeat phone calls just to get the right price and time of delivery. They didn't deliver all the requested items and had to call multiple times to fix discrepancies in my order. I would not use the u-boxes again. The process was a headache and far more expensive than just renting a truck. I'm unsure if I'll ever use u-haul again and have told multiple people my story.CHARLES G.

I rent fair often from this location. My interaction today with Ethan "the general manager" was noteworthy in a not great way. Although his language was polite, his greeting was odd, I believe he used the term dear,asked for my license even though I took pics and checked in online. I was asked what I was hauling and when I was going. None of these questions have been asked on any of the occasions I've rented at any location. Needless to say I questioned his motives. I didn't answer what I was hauling and stated it'd be local. He also connected my trailer and again even though I checked in online and shared my hitch/ball capacity he asked again what I was hauling and stayed the obvious hitch/ball weights. Again, none of his concern,I am aware. Lastly, he called me dear again which as an adult woman significantly older then he is, I found it unprofessional and condescending. I think he was clear that I found him annoying. This review let's you know how irritated I was/am with him, not the equipment or this location.Tamera K.

I was upgraded to a bigger van at no extra cost since the original vehicle I asked for was over booked - that was great and I am thankful to the owner of the U-Haul at Como (I don't remember his name) for being kind and helpful with the situation. I think the only negative of my experience was that things weren't very clear in regards to how I drop off the vehicle (saying to leave the car under the "green" thing isn't enough), and that most of the people working there were intimidating and as a first time U-Haul renter, I felt uncomfortable at times.BEZA T.

The U-Box container was not ready for pickup when I arrived. The associate said that another associate had spoken to my wife on the phone twice about the time change, but no one at U-Haul at actually spoke to either of us about setting a pick up time, let alone changing it. We were also charged for another month's rent on this U-Box despite unloading and returning it prior to the next payment cycle.Jenna H.

I ordered the U-box to be dropped off at my location. However, I was unable to contact the movers the day they were supposed to deliver my box, and no one showed up. I ended up hauling all my stuff to the U-Haul location instead. I hope there can be more accountability between customers and the movers. At the end of my storage term, it was also confusing ordering U-box to be set outside for me to pick up my stuff. The user interface on the website could be clearer.YuQi Z.

Came in on a busy Saturday and only one poor guy was on desk duty. He was amazing and able to assist everyone, but it took some time and we could tell that he was working as fast as possible while still doing a great job. Recommend a raise and another worker in the front to help!Paul R.
I rented a 8' truck and 5' x 9' trailer, but the truck didn't have a ball hitch on it and there wasn't an employee outside or inside that I could talk to about it, so I ended up leaving without the trailer. If the ball hitch was supposed to be an additional rental, it was not clear at all. My reservation time also had to be changed due to no available trucks at the original pickup time, even though the site let me reserve one. The main issue was that my drop off time was never updated, so I lost an hour on the reservation.Michael T.

This was a terrible experience. I had to deal with rude representatives refusing to put Supervisors on the phone. Movers not loading my U-boxes correctly (referred by you all), hand to hire a 2nd set of mover to load it correctly. I received a guaranteed delivery date of August 30th and did not get my U-boxes until September 2nd with no communication and no one answer phone (Again had hired Movers to unload box. I spoke to Chris in MN Supervisor and Barron GA Supervisor and neither have been helpful. I would like a complete refund for all of this entire unacceptable experience!!!! I want to also make sure to say that both highway 280 U-Haul in St Paul Minnesota and key realty U-Haul in Beloit, Wisconsin are amazing. The staff are understanding empathetic and great listeners. One of the employees was very rude when returning the truck. It was very difficult to understand where he wanted us to park and was frustrated when we "did not do what was asked". Additionally, my truck was returned at 2pm and I still received a call at 6pm saying it was not there. No one answered the phone and I drove over to the location and the keys were located on the back wall. No one even confirmed that the truck was returned until I came back in. .TAILOR M.

My Ubox arrived 1 week late and we were never notified of the delay. I only found out when I checked the Uhaul tracking. I then spent an hour on hold and talked to 3 different people to find out what was happening with my Ubox. None of them knew. I finally talked to a person at the Uhaul facility that shipped my Ubox and he told me the company that transports the boxes hadn't picked it up yet. At some point there box lost it's online tracking number and I was afraid it was lost in the system. The Ubox contained many precious personal items including the only copies of photos of my girlfriend's deceased mother. Your staff were professional, but not helpful. I talked to several staff members when I was ordering and packing my Ubox that told me conflicting details about the shipping process. Clearly there is very little information sharing and coordination between Local Uhaul facilities, Uhaul call centers, and your third party shipping companies. I would actively dissuade someone from using this service and I have no intention of using it again. My issue is with Uhaul as an organization and not any individual employee. If I had been regularly informed of the shipping updates via phone call or email I would have felt better about the service.Samuel B.

There need to be clear signage in the building regarding after hours access. We were locked out during our move in with our unit still open inside with belongings in it. It would have been nice to been given either an announced warning the doors would be locking or at the very least have the time the doors lock posted on the access entry. I do realize that the hours are in the email that is sent but after spending 2 straight days moving a lot of people are not going to read through the email they just want to get finished with their move. Other than that the the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the location is clean and security seems to be a priority. This store on como ave in Minneapolis/St. Paul area is advertised as a 24 hr storage unit, so I got there at around 7pm right as the office was closing down for the day, yet I managed to get service and I got to rent a unit for my stuff. However as I was wrapping up my move, I still had just a couple of things to bring when all of a sudden the door locked on me and couldn't come in anymore having to leave a lot of my stuff unattended all thru the night and Im glad nothing got stole, but I feel like this happened because any of the ppl that worked there did not tell me anything about it. That is not even the whole problem. There is a phone number on multiple signs that say to call the gm for after hours service, but the phone would go straight to voicemail making this situation a lot more frustrating and unnecessary that it needed to be. I even called costumer service for help and they couldn't even reach this guy and or couldn't help me at all. I wasted over 3 hours dealing with this that day and at the end I just gave up and left only to come back in the morning just to secure the unit I just rented. You guys need to be more clear about you overnight policy or at least tell your customers about it. That didn't have to be as frustrating and difficult like it was that night/morning. Overall the experience went fine. However, I did have a "hickup" that really should be addressed. When I rented the truck and took advantage of the storage unit deal, I asked specifically about 24 hour access. I knew that I would be moving late into the night so this was important. I was told I had 24 hour access. This was not the case. At 10pm the dock sliding doors locked me out. Here I was with a partially loaded truck, carts in the passage near my storage and my storage door open with no access. I pushed the After-Hours intercom button, no answer. I called the After-Hours number for Matt Underwood, no answer and directed right to automated voicemail. I then called the customer service number, obviously no answer there. I then called the alarm company who was able to give me the number to someone else, This person did answer and was able to grant me access. He did explain however that 24-hour access is a PAID service the I did not have. This is something that should have been explained by the counter rep who checked my out. I don't have to explain the stress and concern this experience caused me Since obviously I couldn't simply leave. Loading dock area very well laid out. Office for registration/ checkin OK, but there should be a separate checkin and waiting area for storage versus vehicle rental customers...and a posted outline of checkin for BOTH types of customsrs.Current construction makes finding anything difficult so you need to compensate by posting in big print process for each customer type. ALSO EACH STORAGE CUSTOMER MUST RECEIVE A LARGE PRINT.COPY OF THE LEASE BEFORE BEING ASKED TO SIGN IT. LAST COMMENT ....hire a Minnesota lawyer to look at your Lease. I am always pleased with this facility. Check in for picking up truck and getting set up for storage unit is quick and easy. Love the loading dock! Facility is always clean and neat, staff is great! And dropping off the truck when we were done took no time at all!
