Given that there were no staff at this location it was very difficult and inconvenient to track someone down to let us in the climate controlled room when needed. Getting someone in the phone at the Zimalcrest location was a challenge.

The office hours were horrible, couldn't see anyone to take care of business. They closed and didn't notify tenants. One of our units were flooded but no help from u haul.

I had trouble with this location with not posting checks. Twice I would go in to check why I was getting late fees. And find my check had not been posted, it was there. I was asked to move because of the states imminent domain. I found my lock had been changed because of burglars I Was never notified I had to get a locksmith to come cut the lock. Staff denied they switched the lock. Then while parked in a legal parking space the exit gate apparently has no sensor opened and damaged my car. I called the district/area manager at least twice with no return call. Definitely need to Vet employees more carefully.The THC Co. Handling the transition was great !

Per the notes for this survey, I contacted U-Haul two weeks ago to "resolve any disputes," but I have not received a reply. I had a unit at the Jamil Road location for approximately ten years. I had no problems for most of that time; the staff was friendly, and the climate control section seemed very secure. A few weeks ago, I received notification that the Jamil Road location will be demolished to allow for a road expansion. I decided to clear out my unit as I had been planning to do for some time. I soon learned the office had been condemned, and there had been nobody posted on site for about a year. Another nearby U-Haul facility had been showing up whenever requested to give people access to climate control. I met with somebody from the real estate management firm working for SCDOT to clear the property and soon discovered that somebody had given my unit a new lock; I could not open it. We eventually gained access, only to find that it had been ransacked and somebody had stolen some of my belongings. I understand that mine was not the only unit, by far, that had been broken into. U-Haul DID NOT CONTACT ME to advise that my unit had been compromised! I promptly arranged to come back to clear out my locker and salvage whatever was left. As I started to remove items, it was clear that there had been a rodent problem for quite some time. Several storage bins were left open during the break-in, and rodents had destroyed many of my belongings. While removing boxes, I saw a rat scurry into the rat bait station; it appeared to have made a nest in there. There had also been a water problem that had saturated and molded another box of items. Although the nearby facility people were friendly and helpful in this situation, I would never rent a U-Haul locker again.

The only reason we vacated was due to the SCDOT relocation. We have units and rented trucks here for years. The only reason I marked one response as a "no" was often there has been nobody in the office and the clock as to when somebody would return did not make any sense based on the time of day that it was.

My unit was broken into in February, I was never notified. My family member found it in May. The door was still open.Everything had been rummaged through. This is a temperature controlled building. Everything placed against the back wall was damaged from moisture and was covered in mold. We lost all of our children pictures of them growing up. totally heart breaking. No one seems to give a crap about it. Would never consider using u-haul again.

The staff continuously ignored my request to patch a leak in my unit I was told time and time again it was fixed until one day I decide to rearrange my unit and discover everything to the back ground level of my unit had been completely soaked in water and black mold. The manager then harassed me repeatedly saying that I had not payed my moving out fee. Never using haul again

No one was ever available on site. When calling, I always got customer service instead of the local office. Never received a call back whenever a message was left. Was charged after I moved out. When I called again, was again connected to customer service instead of the local office.

I showed up to the U-Haul Moving & Storage At Jamil Rd and found out that the employees there worked remotely. There was no one there to help me finalize my move in account process (pay the insurance fee, be assigned a unit, get a gate code). I had to drive to broad river Rd U-Haul and set up the remaining move in process. I drove back to Jamil Rd U-Haul, the gate code did not work so I spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get it to work. Finally got inside and to my storage unit, to find that it had a lock on it. I called customer service again just to be told to drive back to broad river Rd U-Haul, get the key to unlock the unit and then would have to drop it back off after I was moved in. After retrieving the key, driving between the two U-Hauls facilities, I finally opened the unit (J500). The unit was filled with trash (molding food, clothes hangers, plastic bags and molding box's). I locked that unit back up, drove back to broad river Rd U-Haul, returned the key and asked for a clean unit. The staff helping me was super nice, polite and helpful and was able to get a new unit. I drove back to Jamil Rd U-Haul to unit J502 which aside from the ceiling so clean. The entire thing was ridiculous, unnecessary and ended up costing me time and money I did not intend to spend.

The pick-up location was changed on us the day before and fortunately, I noticed that in the test the day before.. The truck drove fine but had a used mask left in it so I know it was not cleaned before re-renting. The truck was also the wrong size, did not have the furniture dolley reserved nor the furniture coverings rented. Staff was pleasant but also flustered. Did not offer to provide new blankets and we had to buy them and drive to another location to pick up the last dolley.

I have called several times over the course of a few days. I was offered free storage with my rental which I thought would be beneficial. Was transfered to the scheduling department (803-791-9714) and had location updated to Jamil Rd so I could store and check-in together. Went by the store (they closed at 4) to sign storage paperwork, and the unit I had chosen was not on file. Confirmed with this store that this was to be the check-in location. Was told where to park the truck and to leave the key. Had trouble with the code to get in the gate, but rep fixed. When it was time to drop the truck off I was not able to check-in as this location was not selected. I wasn't aware I would need pictures so those weren't submitted. My passcode did not work so I couldn't even get into the storage unit. Called and sat on hold for about 15 to 20 minutes each time (no less than 4 calls) to have no real resolution. Went to the location twice and they were closed both times. My truck was only returned on-time because I was able to speak with a manager at another store who was able to direct me where I needed to be. This process was extremely taxing, and I will exhaust every option before needing to take this route again.

I request to pick up a 10' truck from a location in walking distance of my home. I was given a 15' truck 13 miles from my home. I witnessed the 10' truck at the location I requested as I drove to the further location given to me by UHaul. At 99 cents a mile, this ended up costing me an additional 26 $plus 45 mins of wasted time.

I'm a good driver, I observed tuning of truck was not proper because I had to use my experience to drive it smooth, I faced difficulty sometimes, perhaps it was too much used old truck. But my last experience with uhaul was really good .This time I had to deliver the stuff at my close friend's house who was executive director, but tire were having mud attached on it, it was not clean, I had to bring truck back to my home to clean it. After covering about one thousand miles it was was producing strange sounds so I made up my mind to return as quickly as possible, whereas I had a plan to Walmart to buy two cars for my both daughters. I dropped luggage successfully so I am thankful to UHAUL because they are serving my country, America. By AAA

The online and phone service was the worst. I am very disappointed in uhaul. There roadside assistance miss directed the repair team and cost me 5 hours of being stuck on the side of the road. Not sure i will ever use U-Haul again. The individual locations where great but when you need to deal with someone on the phone nationwide its miserable.

The covers that I ordered online were not at this location so I had to go to another location to pick them up. This should be noted for that site of any equipment not located on that site would have to be picked up at another location.

The only issue that I had during pick-up was the truck I was assigned was blocked in and I selected to do mobile pick-up. Lucky for me, the pick-up location opened 30 minutes prior to my scheduled time, so an associate was able to go out and move the trucks around for mine to be accessible. Also, my truck was missing moving equipment. Again, if the place had not been opened, this would've been very inconvenient. The silver lining to it all was the associate that was working that morning. Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name, but she was very kind and accommodating.

I reserved a truck with 2 dolly's and furniture pads but I didn't get any of them and I was charged for them. I reserved online and was originally supposed to pick up from a different location but they didn't have the truck (after waiting 20 min). There is no parking at this location so someone would have to drop you off and trucks are on a muddy lot outside the gate.

Nothing else needed to be done. The service was fantastic and using the mobile pickup was nearly flawless. The one tiny snag we hit about the key was handled by the staff within 5 mins and I was on my way. Would definitely recommend and I will use this location again should the need to move something come up.

When i took this truck the fuel was very low which i didnt notice..During drop off time application asked me to enter fuel level.I put 21$ worth fuel already. I used this truck for total of 11 miles.i still have concerns on the final bill which i paid.i think I should have not filled the gas worth 20$ .please suggest

The truck ran hot several times while in use..... causing an extreme delay in moving and that of course equals additional time ie a 1 day job became a 2 day job

The young lady was very unprofessional. She left for several minutes and left customers waiting. Only to return and smoke a cigarette and then she finally began helping customers. Also I was charged extra money outside of the contract that I signed.

The person at the express location 800 block of bush river rd did not know how to complete the process to give me a truck. I had to call on line and the female did it over the phone. She was amazing. Kevin called the day before and said everything was in place.However, it was not. Finally after the process was completed, the express employee spoke with Kevin and was told to take the key back from me. The female uhaul employee tried to speak with the express and he refused. He came at me in a threatening manner. I asked him several times to step back but he refused. A male customer came to my assistance . I will never use u haul again and I am filing a complaint with the BBB and consumer affairs. I hired movers and I was late because of this and had to leave some of my furniture in Columbia

The customer service rep was quite unprofessional. I also felt like it was not secure and inappropriate for my husband's drivers license picture and information to be taken on the rep's personal cell phone. I would suggest that a company cell phone provided for that purpose.

There was a lot of miscommunication about my rental. I was told several different things about when to return my rental...one person told me to return it at 11pm the next day which I went on...someone called me to extended it saying since it's not rented we can just extend it...nobody ever told me they would charge me another day...when I disputed it the lady said she would call me back...she never called me back...I just received a email on there "corrections" nobody explained NOTHING...BUT NOW IM STUCK WITH THIS HIGH BILL... RIDICULOUS!!!

Need to be like enterprise and verify while customer is there that fuel is full and that nothing is wrong with the truck. Have better customer service. They didn't care that it didn't make sense that I could not have used half a tank by driving only 40 miles. Everything was about a contract. Calling corporate. It's not about the money it's about the principal and I can't stand a company that cant take ownership for their error. I have rented from Uhaul multiple times and never had a problem until this past rental. I gave below average instead of poor because Tarsha did credit 64 $back but Zakee Robert's (president of SC uhaul) was so stuck on contract that he couldn't think logically.

The exhaust or idle was a little loud on my truck - especially in the cab. It was clean and obviously well maintained since it had nearly 160k miles on it. That is the only thing you should look at. Both of your employees I met were delightful!

Both agents were truly excellent. I believe the AM agent was Christa and she was efficient but also friendly and courteous. So image the shock when lightening struck twice, the PM clerk whose name I didn't get was also extremely nice. That just doesn't happen anymore. Excellent customer service with these two fine ladies.

The clerk checking out the truck should look at the gas gauge with the customer making sure that the customer reads the same fuel level. The clerk should not rely on the computer record of the fuel levels. Clerk was courteous.

First I did not count the boxes when I got the bundle. I was supposed to get 20. I only used 2 boxes and was only refunded for 16. I informed the guy and he refused to refund me for the 2 additional boxes that were clearly not given to me in the first place. Additionally, I just got my completed contact. I was charged 7 $for the use of a dolly. I had absolutely no use for a dolly, and I never used it. I know there was one in the truck, but I did not touch it. I got overcharged for boxes and a dolly I never used. Epic fail!

Whatever is used to cover the smell of previous smoking in the truck was sprayed to mask the smoke and frankly it was nearly toxic. Too much. Otherwise all good.

I returned a vehicle to this location, as clean if not cleaner than I received it, fuel returned higher than I received it. I was wrongfully charged a cleaning fee (the U-Haul representative stated that she had to sweep and mop mud out of the back of the vehicle). The representative claimed to have pictures of mud and debris all in the back of the vehicle, (she never produced them). I have pictures to show the state that I returned the vehicle. Pictures of the interior, exterior, the odometer and fuel gauge with the vehicle sitting on site running unattended, with an additional mile, the day after I returned the vehicle (not sure who left the vehicle running). Two days later, the General Manager leaves me a voice message stating that I will be charged a cleaning fee and a refueling fee, and to top off her message the General Manger threatened additional charges. In all of the years of using U-Haul, I have never experience anything like this. Time to escalating this complaint. Meanwhile, you may want to find a location outside of Columbia, SC. And, document, document, document. Real pictures don't lie. True Story!
