When I left with the truck it seemed fine. I went to the storage unit and loaded the truck for bout 2hrs. When I went to leave the ignition wouldn't turn over. After about an hr. I contacted the store and once I got someone on the line I was told to contact roadside services. We spent about another hour trying to get through roadside services via phone, and was on hold for over an hour, and online, which none of the ways to get worked. Finally the ignition broke free but the store was closed so we went to our new home and unloaded the truck. As we had a full day of work a head of us we got up at 3:25 am and the luckily although still sticky the ignition turned over. So we went and got another load with no issues. In all we lost about 3 hours of moving time. So as to recommending Uhaul or this location it is not likely. As to what you could do to improve you could stand behind your products and make problem resolutions easy to be rectified and compensate customers for lost usage time for faulty equipment. The one way drop off locations were not understandable. We used the truck to go to Cedar Springs from Lansing. Then we were asked to drop the car off in Grand Rapids (which was another 30 miles away) So after a long day, we unloaded and then drove the truck an hour (back and forth) out of our way and had to pay for the gas it took in overage. Sadly, there was a uhaul in Cedar Springs which was 6 miles from where we were.BRADLEY JOHN S.

The online check-in was nice, but made largely irrelevant by the fact that the dolly I ordered wasn't in the truck. I had to wait for almost 20 minutes for the dolly after I had the keys. The website should identify where the key drop-off is on a location-by-location basis. I had to hunt for the drop-off, eventually finding it nowhere near where the instructions said, or looking anything like the picture suggested. Overall, it wasn't bad and I'd go back, just several minor inconveniences.Cody M.

Very difficult to get questions answered before rental. Long wait for phone service, can't call locations directly. I asked repeatedly about a particular drop off location that didn't show up as a choice online, and clerk gave advice and tried to help, but the location I wanted wasn't the one that showed up wasn't the one I wanted. We made an appointment online, gave them all the information including payment, etc. All we should have needed to do was get the keys. Walk in, wait for 15 min while NO ONE acknowledged us. There were 2 employees helping one customer, they did not say a word. Finally, another employee comes up, tries to check us in, I finally gave him my number as he couldn't find my via name or phone. He then proceeds to ask me ALL the questions over, INCLUDING taking my payment again. WHY did I bother doing everything online? He then walks me to the truck, tells me I need to see if there is any damage before I take it. He states that that there's an X sticker by the damages they know about but I'm responsible for anything that happens without an X, then says, "Well, here's damage, it doesn't have an X, but we know about it". Ummm..... sure. WORST experience ever. Will never be back to this location.Robin S.

I could NOT get anyone to answer the phone. Out of desperation I went to the store to make my reservation. Even then I had to wait 10 while the agent counted the money in his till. I came 2 hours late for the reservation and it was canceled. I was at the store 10 minutes after I got an email saying it was canceled and the agent could not reopen the reservation. I would only recommend to a friend because of how local it is. I received a truck on E and immediately had to get gas upon leaving. It was a half hour before I could check it. With COVID and I am 95 % sure the truck inside wasn't wiped down before I used it because of dust seen.TENISHA TENNILLE T.

The directions when checking in did not match the location of our truck. We had to search the whole parking lot to find the truck. When returning the truck the guidelines were not clear on where to park so we followed the other person dropping it off. Just overall unclear.Elizabeth T.

I was supposed to get a 15 foot truck from another East Lansing location but they called and advised someone did not return and I would have to drive the 20 footer. Did not like the large truck plus a gas guzzler, very disappointed that my preordered 15 foot van was not available.DAVID G.
The first vehicle I was given was extremely filthy inside and out plus had undocumented damage, and had a tire warning light on. They acted like it was no big deal to have the light on because they just changed a tire, which could be true, but I was not comfortable with taking it on the highway so they put me in another one. Then after having a lot of trouble changing the reservation, they gave me the key to the wrong one and flagged me down as I left the parking lot. The third one I guess was the charm, but had spills on the bed liner of the van. At this point I decided I would live with it. I was the only customer and it still took 40 minutes on a "contactless, quick" 24/7 truck share reservation to get it right.Tori B.

I rented on line a 6 x 12 utility trailer with ramp. When I showed up to pick it, and they didn't have one. I was told the previous renter had not returned it yet. I understand and that is beyond uhaul's control. I was able to get a 5x9 trailer with a ramp that ended up working. However they needed to redo the order as the size and price changed and it took forever as the clerk was doing everything on an iPhone and could not change the rate in the computer. Therefore I can only give an average rating opposed to an excellent rating.DENNIS JAMES H.
I was told that the van had under a quarter of a tank, so the workers in u-haul said if I return it at a quarter of a tank I would be reimbursed around 23$ in which has not been returned and was billed to my card, I am a loyal customer to u-haul and I do not see where I did not return it with what they asked, in which the truck had a quarter of a tank and I have the gas receipt. When I rented the equipment the person who waited on me was very helpful and very pleasant could not have asked for a better experience. When I returned the equipment Peyton ignored me and when I asked for help was rude and displayed a poor attitude. It was very irritating and not a good experience. I was told the hitch we had would work and it didn't, the trailer bounced around and was a really rough ride. I also showed up to pick up the trailer and the lights weren't working and the employee just told me it would be â€œokâ€ to not have break lights. Worst experience and truck! We did mobile pick up and that took waaaay longer. Truck wasn't ready, dirty, miles were way over than what my app said and made us go inside again. Way less gas than contract said. Truck is in poor condition- alignment off, shakes when stopping, takes forever to shift on highway. I drive a bus, I know this isn't normal and safety issues. We didn't even finish our project before returning it. Wasted 70 $will never rent again Fromm uhaul and advise others to watch out. Also- where's the employees mask?Betsy G.

The 17ft truck I rented was in poor condition and got very bad gas mileage I only drove 27 miles with a very light load and needed to put 6 gallons of gas in to get back to half tank I left with. (4,5 miles a gallon?) I read they should get 10 miles per gallon. I'm not sure the gas gauge was accurate.DONNA JEAN S.

Poor service overall. Just choose a different location. The employees work slow - they would rather chat and joke around than just work more efficient. The gas was low and kept singling low gas so I couldn't see the miles - to find out the miles weren't accurate and had to pay for the difference. I don't mind paying for the extra miles because it's my fault in a way- but I guess I would expect the employees to inform you before you go out and jump in the truck that you have to hit a button to display the miles. Also, don't trust the dolly they have in their truck. If you have valuable belongings being transported, the dolly can break loose mid drive and start sliding/rolling into your things.RYAN ALEXANDER G.

I am rating an excellent for one reason, the boss Mr. O'Riley. he was very fair and exceeded expectations. However, the door situation and access is a bunch of BS. The doors never fin worked properly the entire time I was renting which was over a year.
